Reviews for Seven Oaks Hotel

Review 1:Dinner wasn't nice and expensive, wouldn't mind if you could actually eat it, it was dry and hard, you would think hard of giving it to a dog. Room was ok ceiling in the bath room was black with damp, this was room 202. The staff at breakfast don't seem happy.

Review 2:Bed was comfortable

Review 3:The view from the window was of three other waĺls and some cardboard rubbish which had been dumped. We didn't bother to open the curtains, it was so dark and depressing

Review 4:The food was lovely and the staff really helpful and friendly.

Review 5:Staff in breakfast room not very plesent also at 9 ,45 ,in morning in breakfast room was closed suppose to be 10 ,as told seating too close to tables ,also we both couldn't go out one day as it rained ,nobody came to room to leave tea bags ,milk sugar no clean towels,

Review 6:Room nice and warm ,shower a bit outdated ,food menu ok we had a burned burger ,also over done chips not good

Review 7:I asked for a quiet room but I was put in the room closest to the gym. . Music booming all evening. Was too tired to complain or ask to move. Food not great and the room was a bit shabby. Very difficult to adjust radiator. Sor it was either too hot or too cold.

Review 8:Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 9:Nothing - everything was perfect.

Review 10:All staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. Free parking was available onsite. The hotel was 5 minutes walk from the town centre.

Review 11:Shower was horrific to use, water was roasting and wouldn't cool down. Only negative of the stay.

Review 12:Liked the complimentary access to the leisure centre.

Review 13:I was attending a friend's wedding and I was in hotel for 2 days - the staff were just fantastic, they facilitated every request with a smile, they regularly asked if we needed anything, they were really friendly - super service

Review 14:Door bell outside not working so stranded outside for quiet a while. Yet the staff attended to this the next day. Other than that great hotel

Review 15:Service personable and excellent. Rooms comfortable. And the breakfast amazing.

Review 16:Having to leave

Review 17:I needed to add an extra bed at short notice and it was no problem to the staff. Hotel was spotless and leisure facilities and breakfast the following morning were great

Review 18:Can not fault this hotel.

Review 19:Stayed there a few times now. Excellent location very peaceful and yet only a few minutes walk to centre of Carlow town. Had breakfast delivered to room and it was perfect.

Review 20:Had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the staff was very unhelpful bordering on rude.

Review 21:Had a very nice stay. Lady on reception was very polite and helpful.

Review 22:Menu was dated Layout of carvery very bad (queue going around bar area so was very tight) Need more seating at meal times Could have music on at night time

Review 23:Rooms and Leisure centre very friendly staff

Review 24:The only minor negative was a smell of damp in our room, it didn't effect us really but I didn't get to mention it at check out because the receptionist didn't ask how our stay was, but these are minor detail and overall we really enjoyed our stay

Review 25:All the staff were so friendly they made us feel so welcome and at ease. The bar staff and the breakfast staff couldn't do enough for us, they seemed to all really enjoy what they do! A special mention to Radu, who was the night porter I believe. He was so accommodating and really went the extra mile for us, he's a great asset to the hotel.

Review 26:the bar food was very bad for the price I paid was like mush served. No one didn't even approach me had to look for the staff

Review 27:I really like the leasure side it was very clean and the staff were lovely

Review 28:How short the stay was

Review 29:Staff are key to any business, especially the hospitality industry, and the good folk at seven oaks are exceptional , made the stay all the more enjoyable. Friendly , engaging and competent. Paul is a credit to the hotel.

Review 30:Only criticism rooms are a bit dated very comfy beds but a duvet would be nicer than blankets!!

Review 31:The staff make this hotel what it is from the minute we entered the hotel nothing was a problem super super friendly and catered to our every need can't recommend it enough:)

Review 32:The fact that the leisure centre changing rooms floors were always soaked and slippy and are no pool mats also the rooms are very dated

Review 33:I liked the jacuzzi sauna and steamroom also the massage therapist was brilliant the beds are comfortable and a lovely cozzie bar and lounge area and a good location.

Review 34:Didn't really bother us but do be aware of the fact that this hotel is a very popular place for weddings, stags, hens etc and is not the quietest hotel, bustling is a word i would use, loud music until late but, as i say, it did not bother us but others might take notice of this.

Review 35:Lovely though shallow pool. Nice facilities, rooms basic but perfectly clean, hotel has a dated but clean feel. Reception staff nice and not over the top friendly which many of them are!

Review 36:There was no entertainment at night in bar as there is private functions on most weekends and my room was located at the back of the hotel which was situated beside a generator of some sort and didn't get much sleep because the noise coming from it right through the night

Review 37:The leisure centre as I travelled with my daughter age 15

Review 38:Overall the hotel is very dark and dated in appearance. It could do with an modern make over.

Review 39:The room was large and comfortable. Free wi fi was good.

Review 40:we had an old television in the family room that we were staying in with 4 stations working.i noticed that all the other rooms had flat screen tv's.

Review 41:the swimming pool was great

Review 42:The staff booking in and out were friendly helpful and gave all the details eg time of breakfast evening meal and any other services available had great banter in the morning with the receptionist and duty manager about football .

Review 43:We were unhappy with the cleanliness of our allocated bed room, they did give us a different room when we complained.on our first morning there was no water hot or cold at 9.00am it was turned on again around 10am

Review 44:Not a lot

Review 45:Very welcoming hotel with excellent reception staff who allowed us to check in early after we had arrived a little early! Very spacious room with a very comfortable bed. Excellent food in the bar which was good value for money

Review 46:The experience wasn't bad, but if you have any difficulty with stairs mention should be made of that at time of booking, because it can become quite complicated

Review 47:The staff went over and above to be helpful

Review 48:I just think that when you enter the hotel that the foyer gives an old fashioned impression. Decor needs some kind of an update or overhaul. Everything else great.

Review 49:Liked room and breakfast! Liked friendliness of staff at reception and at breakfast and up on corridors.

Review 50:The first room we arrived in had a broken bathroom. The sink was stuck so water accumulated without draining. They should have checked the room before letting it. They moved us to the next room which was 2x larger so that was good. The problem with this room was that the radiator was constantly on and hot so we had to open the windows Al night. They didn't fix this in the first night though I reported the problem. In the second night I reported the issue again and they were not able to resolve the issue until I suggested that they should shut off the radiator locally in the room because the system was broken. Also only hot water came out both taps and they were not able to resolve the issue. They need to seriously fix the piping heating system. The carpets looked old.

Review 51:The room was large. It was close to town. With an exception of one staff the rest were very nice and helpful. They let us sit in the dinning area without a pre booking. The bar was open but because we had a baby with us we wanted to sit in the restaurant. They made some effort to make us happy.

Review 52:The carpet was being replaced during our visit. This meant we were literally barricaded in our room for a while. I realise that this had to be done sometime, my gripe was that we were not told before we checked in. Also, the sheets on the bed were dirty and weren't changed during our stay.

Review 53:The swimming pool was great and the breakfast was lovely.

Review 54:Breakfast finish time of 10 was too early !

Review 55:We missed breakfast and when we went down with intention of buying it , staff insisted on looking after us with late breakfast. Residents bar great craic

Review 56:the beds are too soft and springy the entrance hall/foyer and bar could do with a refurbishment and seating quite old and dirty and very low for the elderly to get up from

Review 57:Nice seating at the front door looks like it got a revamp

Review 58:Heating on in June, could not turn off heating and room was sweltering. Only small windows so could not open to get fresh air. Food prices a bit saucy in my opinion.

Review 59:Food was lovely although a little on the expensive side for a hotel.

Review 60:There was a wedding on and some of the guests were noisy into the early hours.

Review 61:Atmosphere was excellent, staff were really good and the food was top quality

Review 62:I was very disappointed just as we entered the room I went into bathroom which I always do when we go away, the toilet had been soiled and not cleaned but got it sorted, manager Owen a gentle man, thanks to him it got sorted immediately. I will return again.

Review 63:Bathroom was getting shabby, towels were poor quality, television was very old and remote did not work. For the amount they charge they should pay more attention to the rooms

Review 64:Location was good

Review 65:We had a very large room The only fault we had was after returning to it having done some shopping the room was very hot. We could neither turn down nor off the radiators. We mentioned this at reception We eventually got a fan cooler from housekeeping. Think we were not the only ones who complained about the heating.

Review 66:Hotel was central and within easy walking distance of Carlow Town. Room was very spacious . Had a meal in the Restaurant. Staff were prompt and helpful.

Review 67:attended carlow college ball here Thursday gone. food was lovely, room was clean and spacious, staff were all really friendly. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Review 68:Heat in room came on too early and was a little uncomfortable, should be able to turn off heat if not needed.

Review 69:Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us.rooms were good size and spotless, food was excellent value.

Review 70:Gym is a bit odd. All of the machines are quite modern but the free weights area is worn out, broken, and very small.

Review 71:Has a leisure centre Buffet breakfast Fast wifi

Review 72:I always like the Seven Oaks the staff are very helpful,Only thing was the bed was not comfortablethere was a hollow in the middle which ment we had to use the single bed in the room .

Review 73:Pool deck and changing rooms floor tiles are extremely slippy when wet.

Review 74:This is a lovely cosy comfortable olde world hotel with a luxurious feel....lots of carpets, luxury couches, leather seats etc... Fabulous professional bar and food service... Lovely friendly staff... Lots of heat ...breakfast cooked to order with piping hot tea. Dinner was excellent , and a big plus for me- they have Bottle Guinness

Review 75:The room was too cold . The heating was not working very well . The fan in the bathroom was too much noisy.

Review 76:Breakfast was quite rich in choices. The personnel was kind.

Review 77:Very dated. Needs a lot of care and attention.. carpets on 2nd floor very dirty with stains and rips and bathroom door in room was very dirty and tap in bathroom was broken with bulbs gone also. Tried to use iron and it stained my white sort which will have to be thrown out as it can't be removed..Very disappointed. Will not stay again!!!!

Review 78:location

Review 79:The Jacuzzi was not clean ... you could see grit on the floor of Jacuzzi and also feel it with your feet...this would need to be sorted out. My room was so far away and it was like a maze trying to find it!

Review 80:Excellent bar staff and bar food!

Review 81:General wear and tear about the place. Bed linen was hard, pillows flat. Window handle was broken in my room, passed info on to check out staff, she just repeated what I had said and stared blankly at me. Didn't say please or thank you either.

Review 82:The best poached eggs ever, from lovely chef, cooked to order, three of them, and each one was perfectly cooked. Soft. Great bath. Huge! Attentive staff in general, except for check out staff. Nice lounge areas downstairs.

Review 83:the arrangement for getting to our room was a bit confusing. Lift to second floor walk along a corridor get another lift to third floor small thing .

Review 84:the atmosphere the location the staff were so friendly and helpful ( left a degree behind on a table and they posted it to me straight away ) Asked for a quiet room and got it .

Review 85:The interiors are a bit dated and when it happens, a revamp will be very welcome

Review 86:Excellent leisure facilities Helpful and pleasant staff Good bar food and breakfast Lots of parking

Review 87:I feel the hotel could do a lot better on pricing. Comparing deals around the country, or even Dublin, it is pretty high. €228 for B&B only for 2 nights. !!! Not even 1 dinner.

Review 88:Great breakfast, spacious comfortable room, within walking distance of anywhere in town.

Review 89:The floor is the pool area is AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN!, which is a pity as it's a beautiful pool. The beds were hard and the room was quite noisy.

Review 90:The hotel was nice. The rooms were clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 91:Carpets on corridors stained & grubby. In general the decor is very dated. Bed was old & uncomfortable. The room was very awkward to get to. Up 2 floors in a lift, down corridors & stairs in another lift & down more corridors. Extension badly designed.

Review 92:Excellent location for town centre. Staff are great. Room very clean.

Review 93:Hotel quite dated. Carpet v worn on stairs, bar and dining room quite dark due to all the dark wood, tiling around bath chipped.

Review 94:Location suited perfectly. Near train station and town. Big triple room. Food in bar excellent. Staff v nice. Gud breakfast next morning

Review 95:I asked for quite room with nice view, our downstairs room had a window facing a wall with an alley in between. We were woken at 3.30 am with'neighbours' fighting playing loud music and hankering on door. Very frightening. Also bathroom was very tired with dirty looking worn out tiles. The shower was old and barely sprinkled.

Review 96:Staff were nice, food plentiful at breakfast, if a little tasteless and mass produced. 5 mins drive from main shopping area. God bar menu with several vegetarian options.

Review 97:Perhaps with all the good deals at the moment it could be a little cheaper.

Review 98:Greeting on arrival. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice spacious and clean room. Good breakfast. So convenient for walking to town.

Review 99:Drinks very expensive in the bar. Carvery food could be better. TV very old style.
