Reviews for Harbour Hotel
Review 1:The fact that one member of party was unable to join us and they reduced our second room rate to same rate as the first one.... Twin rate without us even asking. Much appreciated! We will be back for sure. Super location staff rooms and breakfast! Thanks
Review 2:The family room was a bit small with not much room to move around with two adults and a 9 year old and 12 year old.
Review 3:Really nice staff, quite and clean. very comfortable and close to downtown.
Review 4:My friend and I were in Galway for a poker tournament. It went on late Friday night. We wanted to sleep on a bit on Saturday morning. Unfortunately we were woken early by a workman in the room next door. The noise and vibrations so loud I recorded them. We couldn't believe how loud it was. I got dressed and as I was paying at reception for Friday and Saturday nights I explained the situation to the receptionist. Peter Doyle took over the complaint. This is where I was not happy. He asked me a number of times why I hadn't phoned down to reception. I said it was too late, that we were already awoken and the damage was done. I said I understood repairs etc are done in January but not at a cost to existing paying customers especially so early in the morning. He said the hotel was full and improvements had to be made regardless. I said I wasn't making an issue of it but as I walked away I felt that there hadn't been a good explanation or even an attempt at a proper apology. This was the crux of my dissatisfaction.
Review 5:Location was ideal.
Review 6:We stay in this hotel almost every occasion we travel to Galway. We always stay for New Years Eve. As always everything was excellent. I have never had any reason to complain about the service, comfort etc in this hotel. The Reception staff, Bar staff, Restaurant staff are all excellent and nothing is too much for them in order to ensure you have a pleasurable stay.
Review 7:Room service menu is very basic, never had majority of the food available as they always had 'none left' leaving you with little to no choice for anything else. No temperature control for room which was always extremley stuffy,Even with rads turned off. Cant open windows more then half an inch and we were on the first floor which was no higher then 5ft. Bathroom needs major updating to match decor of room and hotel
Review 8:The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in ! Pillows and bedding were top quality so much so that I had to check the label of the pillows to get some for myself! Never heard any other guests even though hotel was fully booked. Plenty of tea and coffee making facilities in room Hairdryer, iron, and bathrobes provided Beautiful decor in hotel and room.
Review 9:The only thing we didn't like was the fact if you wanted a herbal tea or special coffee such a latte at breakfast you had to pay extra
Review 10:Buffet breakfast was gorgeous. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful
Review 11:The only thing we would complain about is that you have to pay for your parking although we parked in the Hotel Harbour car park
Review 12:Hotel was very comfortable, staff very friendly and efficient, breakfast was good
Review 13:No complaints
Review 14:Comfortable clean modern surroundings. Excellent parking and close to city centre. Breakfast and restaurant/bar food very good, with a wide choice of quality produce

Review 18:Excellent location within five minutes walk of the city Centre. Room was comfortable, clean and well equipped with nespresso etc
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:All the staff; from housekeeping to reception, including the restaurant staff were fantastic and nothing was too much bother. Loved the gym. Was able to go for a run each morning. Great way to start my day and had the gym to myself which was even better! The location was perfect. Very central and everything was in walking distance for my young daughter and myself.
Review 21:The pillows were a little uncomfortable, but other than that it was great.
Review 22:Great location about a 2-3 minute walk from Eire Square. Secure car parking. Beds are comfy. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. Would stay here again if I was going back to Galway. Where the hotel is located you aren't affected by noise from the street.
Review 23:The very noisy function that went until 3:30 apx. The fact our car was blocked in by a car not parked in a parking bay.
Review 24:The convenience of hotel to everything.Staff very helpful especially the housekeeping manager .
Review 25:Room was small enough for the price of 119 for Fri night without breakfast. This seems to be the way in Galway so not just with this hotel.
Review 26:Staff very nice. We had problem with heating in the room but this was resolved to our satisfaction by very pleasant receptionist.
Review 27:very warm welcome and lovely atmosphere. food excellent and room was very cosy. we have been to the radisson numerous times but the harbour is my number 1
Review 28:Tha staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was excellent. Drink a bit expensive. We taught there might be a bit a music but no. So we just hung out in our room.
Review 29:Restaurant is way too expensive for dinner :-( And the room price a bit too high.
Review 30:Beautiful view to the harbor, great breakfast and close to city center and Galway train station. Good free wifi.
Review 31:The only thing that wasn't Greta were the windows in the room. The wind wad whistling through them all night.
Review 32:Very clean & good size family room. Delicious breakfast. 2 min walk to the shops.
Review 33:Extremely helpful staff throughout the hotel. Spotlessly clean throughout. Excellent lunch in bar and very good breakfast. Great location and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay there again when in Galway
Review 34:The shower was very poor. The shower head was blocked and the bath was covered in rust. The bedroom was a triple room but it was very tight. With our over night bags we found ourselves falling over each other!
Review 35:There was not much available in the way of food, especially for non meat-eaters what there was was overpriced for what it was.
Review 36:Staff were very pleasant and helpful
Review 37:Paying for parking; but that's everywhere now !!!!
Review 38:Everything was as advertised, and better. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast, set you up for a good day in a great city.
Review 39:the room in the photo did not match the room we were put in. We were put in an attic room which was sub standard. After complaining they said all other rooms were fully booked until I asked to speak with a manager and then magically another room appeared.
Review 40:Good location easy to get to.
Review 41:no bad experience one negative point drinks in the bar expensive comparied to nearby hotel about 3 to 4 euro in the differience
Review 42:lovely hotel very comfortable and clean great location close to shops train pubs ect Lovely friendly staff
Review 43:Had problem locating the hotel's car park and parked in different one but this was not a big issue
Review 44:Great location near city centre Very nice foyer and bar area Helpful staff
Review 45:Hotel ro overlooked parking structure. At one end was a dump of some sort or maybe a metal collection . The beds were extremely hard and the room was stuffy.
Review 46:staff was friendly and professional. They were the best partt of our stay.
Review 47:They need to sort out heating. Our room was chilly and we were told that the heating would come on at 7pm. We returned from dinner at 9.30pm and it was off. The next morning it came on around 9.30am !!
Review 48:Our room was stuffy with no option to get some extra air in, weirdly laid out too

Review 50:had to pay for car park but wasn't made aware on arrival, only afterwards when the bill came for our stay
Review 51:very nice atmosphere & friendly staff
Review 52:Despite double glazing room a little noisy on road side, no views and room small

Review 54:While location of hotel was not in a good area the hotel itself was very surprising, lovely décor, comfortable rooms, lovely dining area with very good breakfast and great value
Review 55:Hotel very difficult to find on GPS as not on New Dock Road as per address. Co ordinates incorrect also..had to get directions from another hotel. Quite noisy.

Review 57:Pay for parking but it was cheap
Review 58:Front Desk people were awesome! They were very informative! Dan was extremely helpful & friendly! Breakfast was great! Beds very comfortable! I will definitely stay here again
Review 59:No parking available when I arrived. Had to wait ages for tight space and go back that night to move car.
Review 60:Friendly Staff. Great location, 5 minutes walk from Shop St. Would definitely stay again.
Review 61:Water pressure is always an issue for some reason - ironic considering the location. Showers are more of a dribble than a proper power shower...
Review 62:Great location, great service, always a pleasure to stay there...
Review 63:Lack of hot water on arrival. Manager offered discount which was accepted
Review 64:Friendly staff. Manager reacted to a complaint and resolved the issue to our satisfaction
Review 65:Was way to expensive for a 3 star hotel. And when stayed there was hen partys an birthday partys so the noise was terrible didnt get much sleep because of this and we told staff and there response was itl be over soon
Review 66:You could walk everywhere that is good it galway , nice hotel for a 3 star an pleasent staff.
Review 67:We stayed on the first floor and the noise from the bar was terrible. It went on until 6am. It ruined our stay and I wouldn't stay here again because of that.
Review 68:A bit noisy at night time with the young revellers from the town waking us up a few times. The noise from the road also. The Irish Coffee served at the bar was not particularly good. Should have been made with Jamieson's whiskey and not Powers for that price.
Review 69:The breakfasts and the reception staff. The room size was good. The on site car parking was good. Good access to the town.
Review 70:Description and photos of the hotel are misleading. It's on a busy road on the docks area (think tankers and scrap metal, not picturesque harbour). The prices were outrageous for a 3 star hotel in this location - London prices. Felt ripped off.
Review 71:Large room, modern, clean, close ish to centre. Very helpful staff.
Review 72:Very small parking lots with additional cost. Windows can not be opened wide to get fresh air in. Hotel is a little bit overused and not really valid the price.
Review 73:Breakfast was very good.
Review 74:The hotel is in a great location, the staff could not be nicer , rooms spotlessly clean, breakfast beautiful, a bit pricey but with race week on its only to be expected.
Review 75:Bed needed to be replaced and wind howled through the window but it was stormy.
Review 76:Staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful, nothing seems to be too much trouble and they have a word for everybody. Loved the breakfast and bar food was good also
Review 77:The rooms were very hot and no way to control, couldn't open the window because of the noise on the street
Review 78:Everything was brilliant other than the heat, beds were super comfy and breakfast was amazing and all the staff were lovely!
Review 79:Shower didn't work,No safe,Lack of drinks & Cereals for breakfast
Review 80:Beds were good, there being a gym and also a good bar with an excellent selection of beers and spirits
Review 81:No harbour view and being on the road side, there was a lot of traffic noise particularly early morning.
Review 82:This hotel was the best of all on our trip around Ireland. Brilliant staff, super WiFi and 2 lifts!
Review 83:no yoghurt availble on sat morning and subsequently no natural yoghurt availble on all three mornings we stayed There were no tomatoes availble at breakfast all weekend one of the Lifts went out of order on saturday and was still not fiex when we left on monday
Review 84:Our room was located over the reception door and was woken up early hours (rowdy drunks returning)
Review 85:The position of the hotel made it ideal for missing all the traffic into town.
Review 86:The first room had a connecting door to the next room and sound carried so was noisy. The staff found us another room, both were disappointing ,decoration shabby and facilities not up to 4 star rating. The 2nd room was directly over the front door we were woken at 3am by a very drunk abusive customer who was leaving the hotel but had to be persuaded to do so by staff.
Review 87:Good location, friendly ,helpful staff, good breakfast
Review 88:dont stay in room at back of hotel, windows not double glazed & the wind noise whistling & howling was unbearable. Moved to front of hotel following night without any stress or hassle from staff, no problems with same noise. Very comfortable rooms.
Review 89:Staff were excellent, very accommodating, we requested to change room after the first night. Wind HOWLED through the window all night, impossible to sleep! Rooms very comfortable, lovely breakfast room & reception. Clean & trendy.
Review 90:Expensive. I think other hotels and taxi in Galway are more expensive than other cities. Noisy. View from the window is not beautiful.
Review 91:Location near train station and city center
Review 92:Unfortunately my husbands good (new) trousers got torn on a screw sticking out of the seat in the in the bar area. The duty manager Damian took note of it and we are hoping to hear from him.
Review 93:The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. There was a lovely warmth about the hotel.
Review 94:Rooms were very warm esp at night, windows would only open a tiny bit.
Review 95:This hotel is in a good location, couple of mins walk from town. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Review 96:would have loved to have got a cocktail one of the nights ,was told the guy who made them was off duty
Review 97:the comfort and the pizza that was so freshely made on the 24 hour menu
Review 98:Our room was located at the back of the hotel-the only view was the parking garage and condensers. Unfortunately, we were woken each morning by the trash compacting plant directly behind the building.
Review 99:This room was the cleanest we encountered on our 10 day trip across Ireland. It had a laminate wood entry, modern design, and comfortable beds. The staff were exceptional and very friendly, even giving us free drinks when our faucet broke in our room.
Review 100:The weather was much cooler than normal for July and the heating had been turned off.
Review 101:Slightly off the beaten track, but only a 5 - 10 minute walk to the main tourist area. Excellent sound insulation meant there was no external or internal noise in the rooms. This made for a very good night's sleep.
Review 102:Extremely noisy wedding party outside at front in smoking area until 5am. Was hot night and no air con so had window open. Feel hotel staff should have asked them to keep noise down for rest of paying guests
Review 103:This is a great hotel walking distance to everything I love staying here....my only down fall this time was we waited 25mins for to cocktails....if they offer them it should be quicker
Review 104:We stayed 2 nights. Centrally located - great for walking to the city centre and viewing local attractions. Great buffet breakfast. Hotel room was clean and functional and staff were very helpful.
Review 105:Had the impression we'd be overlooking the harbour but it faces the other way and the harbour isn't really picturesque.
Review 106:Great staff at reception and a really good Irish breakfast. Good location for bigger tours
Review 107:The room on the first floor was noisy due to the air conditioning equipment outside. I had asked for a room on a higher floor as another reviewer had mentioned this issue. Regardless I ended up on the first floor. The room is adequate but quite basic. Felt a bit like a motel room in Australia but without the fridge.
Review 108:Good Location and nice breakfast. On site parking.
Review 109:An easy walk into town. Comfortable clean room and a wonderful breakfast buffet. On-site hotel parking was very easy to access. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Lobby, dining room and other common areas were very nicely decorated and there was a cozy fireplace in the lobby sitting area where it was nice to have refreshments from the bar.
Review 110:The staff are the greatest hospitality thank you nothing too much trouble Dan the front of house manager is a credit to the hotel unbelievable service from all the staff see you again for sure
Review 111:Friday night noise in the street outside but hotel moved us to the opposite quiet side of the bullding
Review 112:Short walk to central Galway resturants and shops, and also to the quays. Full service hotel with friendly and competent staff. Excellent food
Review 113:Quiet and comfortable hotel very close to everything. It was a 3 minute walk into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!
Review 114:everything, location, hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel. Breakfast was brilliant, great choice and served till 10.30 because in fairness when you away its nice to get that lie on.
Review 115:Convenient location for walking around city centre. Parking very good and only €7 for resident. Excellent food in restaurant at very reasonable prices. Very good buffet breakfast selection. First class customer service from all members of staff (reception, restaurant and bar). Will definitely return!
Review 116:Terrible shower. On our arrival there were problems with hot water and we assumed the shower situation was related to that and I guess so did the staff. Took us two days to figure out it was the shower set up itself. They gave us another room to use and that shower was just fine. That room was just as nice as our first one.
Review 117:Quiet spot in city centre with helpful staff.
Review 118:The bed was too comfy - this would only be a personal preference The outside of the building makes you question the inside (dodgy looking), but once you walk inside, the hotel is very nice.
Review 119:Staff was very nice Wifi was fastest that I've seen for a hotel Location couldn't get better
Review 120:Hotel staff are friendly and the facilities are good. Not easy to access by road - not helped by major roadworks in the area. Galway was slightly disappointing.
Review 121:The bed at the Harbour Hotel was one of the most amazing beds I have ever slept in. It was so comfortable, the pillows too. Breakfast was lovely, rooms were so clean and hotel itself is so lovely. Couldnt fault it. Location is perfect for Galway city, a 5 minute walk.
Review 122:Service at the reception and in breakfast lounge was always perfect. Great breakfast, great comfort, 5 minutes walk to the city center with all the pubs and restaurants. Car park at the hotel only 5 Euro per day.
Review 123:No view from the Skylight type windows in the particular room I had.
Review 124:Friendly and helpful staff. Special mention for the night manager who gave me coffee very early in the mornings. That the sort of service makes the difference !
Review 125:Room not ready on arrival at 16h45. Requested "quiet, twin room, upper floor, away from elevator" - took 3 attempts to finally getsuitable room - annoying Car Parking should be included for residents -had to pay extra 21.00 euros for 3 days.
Review 126:Location 10/10 Staff Friendly
Review 127:Our room was directly opposite the cleaners office. Although there was no one there of a night. Through the day there were people coming and going constantly. We could hear someone flicking through paper so I have no doubt they could here us in our room. Not a pleasant. And to make matters worse our bed was so uncomfortable, and I'm not to fussy in this area so long as I can sleep!!
Review 128:The staff were lovely and breakfast was really nice. The location is great as it is a short walk to town centre.
