Reviews for Eyre Square Hotel

Review 1:the rooms were warm the beds compy, but the carpets were dirty full of dust and hair, there was no little shower gel or shampoo in bathroom,i was very dissappointed...

Review 2:Your reception isn't welcoming, nor is the massive security guard at your door who more or less asked us what were doing here until we said we were checking in. The car park situation is redicilous, the hotel has no car park so if you don't know Galway it's impossible to find the underground Carpark. It cost us €17.00 to park our par in the hotels 'carpark' for one night. Even though it was ment to be 12.

Review 3:How close it was to shops

Review 4:Everything about the hotel was gorgeous especially the breakfast only downfall was the bar was a little cold when eating but it wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Review 5:Lift was being removed for maintenance. Brewery deliveries early am on Foster Street

Review 6:Great location Great staff Friendly atmosphere Clean rooms Great internet access

Review 7:Lift was out of order, was offered no help with bags even though when I booked was sent a conformation email by the hotel telling me the lift was out of order but would be given help with bags. The hotel decor is out dated room was clean but lacked comfort

Review 8:Great location

Review 11:The "rain" was the only bad thing about our stay.

Review 12:The staff were very friendly and obliging.location ideal for christmas markets and general shopping.food was excellent on both night dinner was superb for all four of us couldn't fault it

Review 13:The beds were little uncomfortable and the room was cold as times

Review 14:The location was excellent and very staff friendly. The food in the bar was excellent and handy being connected to the hotel.

Review 15:The room could do with a makeover bathroom very shabby in need of a lick of paint. Very busy road so difficult to sleep.

Review 16:The location. Breakfast was good

Review 17:The carpet in our room was well worn. The walls were paper thin. Some idiot woke me up after 3am screaming and shouting at the top of his voice! The room was very cold when we arrived. One to avoid in Galway!

Review 18:Not a lot.

Review 19:Dirty cutlery on the breakfast table My knife and fork were actualy stuck to the paper table cloth

Review 20:The Location of the Hotel The staff were excellent could not do enough for us.

Review 21:lighting in room very poor. Paying for car parking was a negative

Review 22:Staff very friendly Beds were ultra comfortable When we alerted porter to noise coming from room next door at 3am, he sorted problem immediately.

Review 23:The room was extraordinarily small as was the bath. Only 1 small towel for each guest. Breakfast was like the bar scene in "Star Wars".

Review 24:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 25:Rooms were a little tired and had some small issues, no stopper for bath, bedside lamp not working. But I understand they are going to do some refurbishment soon.

Review 26:Location, staff friendliness and lovely bar

Review 27:Galway city centre is not so easy to access by car due to narrow streets and inadequate ring road. Hotel is a bit outdated.

Review 28:Hotel was being redecorated so it's getting better. Staff were very friendly. Location was great! Between bus and train station, right in the centre of the action.

Review 29:The plumbing was dreadful in our bathroom. The toilet took at least 20 minutes to refill after flushing and the sink took the same length of time to empty after washing your hands. The shower was very poor too.

Review 30:Excellent location and price.

Review 31:The hot tap in the basin could not be turned on when even forced, this was reported and nothing was done.

Review 32:Location was excellent and staff very helpful

Review 33:Fantastic location 1 minute from train/bus station. Lovely warm comfortable hotel, food excellent, very welcoming atmosphere. Definitely stay here again no question and I will recommend it to friends.

Review 34:Reception area was very nice. Rooms very tired and gruby. Rooms were small. Parking was expensive even with the discount from the hotel

Review 35:The location was excellent.

Review 36:Works as of 7:30 in the morning, not possible to sleep.

Review 37:Breakfast was very good with lot of choice, the hotel was extremely centrally located, the parking nearby very convenient

Review 38:what a nice place to stay just off Eyre Square, made my stay in the west a great one . taking into account bad weather, and a security incident great time was had by me

Review 39:Room very small double bed was beside a pillar on one side there was a stink of sewage in the hotel

Review 40:Galway was lovely . Hotel well located . Weather was bad with storm but still enjoyed galway

Review 41:The only let down is that the hotel still has one designated smoking room on the first floor which was adjacent to our room so the smell of smoke was quite unpleasant.

Review 42:Great breakfast selection! Had pub grub on one evening too, the chicken wings, chicken burger and steak sandwich were delicious! I asked to have a bottle of chilled prosecco on arrival which they did for me. The staff couldn't be any more helpful and were very courteous. The night security made sure we were staying in the hotel which made us feel really safe.

Review 43:Liked everthing in hotel

Review 44:Location was excellent, I have stayed at this hotel many years ago with ny husband yet again the stay was enjoyable, tho this time I was with a friend we notice the hotel was looking tired and was please its in the middle of a refurbishment.

Review 45:Unfortunately there were some very noisy guests on our floor but once we rung down to reception the receptionist came straight up and spoken to them, unfortunately they made noise again and the doors are thin but on the whole a nice stay.

Review 46:The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly... In the perfect location! I would defiantly recommend paying the extra for the breakfast it was absolutely lovely and they couldn't get enough for you!

Review 47:Pity there is no parking. It was E24 for the parking

Review 48:Great to be within walking distance from everything. Staff were v friendly. I asked for a quiet room as I'm a light sleeper and the room we got was v quiet.

Review 49:The noise level of people staying in hotel. Party in room next to us, kept us awake half the night no answer from 24 hour reception when I tried to complain. On our departure we were not even asked how was our stay. Will not stay there again

Review 50:The location

Review 51:I liked every thing.

Review 52:The hotel had the room ready within a half hour of my arrival even though it was an early morning flight in to Shannon. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 53:It's a cosy little hotel, you get what you pay for but the hotel, facilities and general everyday equipment is stuck in the 70's.

Review 54:The staff were quite nice and the location is perfect. The coach and bus services and only meters away as are the shopping centers, attractions and park.

Review 55:i didnt like our first room as we could hear the extractor fan until 10.30 at night and started early the following morning. we were moved and the heating wasnt on we had to ask in reception for it to be turned on then we were given an oil filled radiator

Review 56:i liked the location of the hotel

Review 57:I didn't like the quality of the room for the price, it was very run down and old. There was a terrible smoke smell through the corridors.

Review 58:The location was great, close to parking and bus station, close to shops and centre. The staff were great very friendly and helpful. Food was great with a huge option.

Review 59:I found the piped music in the breakfast room too loud (choice of music not giving a relaxed feel) Having moved out of the room there was some other piped music plus the clattering of staff going about their activities in the bar area. Poached egg could have presented better on plate

Review 60:The decor and surroundings were visually warm and cosy

Review 61:In all my years going on holiday i never slept in a more comfortable bed the food was lovely and the staff were brilliant. We couldn't have got better anywhere.

Review 62:Staff very friendly. Good atmosphere around the Hotel. Clean airy bedroom, comfortable bed .Good hot shower. Top class breakfast ,well cooked and presented.Yes this is a very well run middle of the road Hotel...Great value for money and you could not get a place more central in Galway for the the price!!!!

Review 63:The first room I was given was quite small and looking out over some wheelie bins, as I was there for my wedding anniversary the wife was not impressed but the staff rectified it.

Review 64:Central location close to everything I wanted to see in the city

Review 65:The furnishings in the room were shabby but they were under going refurbishment at the time we stayed and a lot of noise from workmen but we did understand it was mid week and the work had to get done.

Review 66:I enjoyed the central location and the cleaness. Even i experienced the room a bit okd fashioned - i could totally enjoy my stay. Wifi worked out very well for me.

Review 67:The side view on the outside of the hotel didn't look great..rooms were quite small and the view from the hotel window was also very poor as it was full of dumps and rubbish.

Review 68:Reception looked well and the outside of the hotel.

Review 69:the room was very warm and could be noisey outside if you wanted a quiet stay but we didnt notice it as we were out alot

Review 70:very nice and helpful staff . well located in eyre square close to everything . enjoyed the stay good value

Review 71:Breakfast wasn't that great & the bar wasn't entertaining enough great big bar area going to waste. Didn't like the smell of the food getting cooked coming into our room because of the vent.pigeons outside dirtying on window sills, old mattress & bins was our view

Review 72:It was great how close it was to train station & Eyre square.

Review 73:Good location next to the train station. In Need of bedroom modernisation But I understand This Is taking place. Spotless clean. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Would stay there again.

Review 74:Bathroom a bit tired but hotel is in the process of refurbing so look forward to staying here when it is done.

Review 75:Friendly staff and willingness to adapt to assist.

Review 76:The decor was too dark. Lounge area is very limited. staff were not customer friendly.

Review 77:The location was good as one was in the city centre. my request for a rm on first floor was granted.

Review 78:On our first hour in the room one of the chair's had mulpitple stains on it we put that to one side Then as we got ready go out we realised 2 of our towel's had what I would hope to make-up it was brown staining The bedside locker was all chipped on opening it the locker was all chipped could have caused a major injury to us

Review 79:It's Central That about IT

Review 80:Didn't like the breakfast. It was luke warm. On the first day wasn't given a menu. The second day we went else where for breakfast. The third days breakfast was a bit better but it still wasn't very hot. It was very noisey in the mornings with the delivery vans.

Review 81:Liked the location and the staff were helpful

Review 82:The only thing few marks on the wall, looked dirty. But it wasn't just tired looking no other complaints

Review 83:Great location, great staff. Good value for money cosy hotel

Review 84:The room was really dirty and really run down. A lot of work needs to be done here to make it worth staying in.

Review 85:The location is very good. Only one or two minutes from the train/bus station

Review 86:As a writer, who had gone to Galway to specifically give a reading on Friday night, I was up early on Saturday morning to catch the early train back to Dublin. In the breakfast room, one staff member didn't answer me when I said 'Good morning'. She was a foreign girl who seemed to be engaged in a personal issue - I think she had mislaid something. Another girl, an Irish girl, was more friendly, but failed to notice I had no milk on my table. I had to go looking for this on a different table. And neither did she tell me that, if I wanted toast with the full Irish Breakfast, I had o get this myself. I had to go and ask about this. And then, not once during my meal did she return to ask me if everything was okay and if I needed anything else.

Review 87:Wifi not always working perfectly. Just one key per room.

Review 88:Near to bus- & trainstation & Eyre Square, very fine breakfast, friendly staff. Nice & cosy interior (hall and bar/restaurant)

Review 89:Gave us a room beside the kitchens (great view :/) Bed was really hard, and the window had been left open so the room smelled like a chipper. No room service available and all the food stopped at 8.

Review 90:Level of noise from street was horrendous, parking in expensive public carpark and problems with toilet not flushing properly in our room

Review 91:Breakfast and staff were nice

Review 92:Bit of mouldy bread at breakfast. Otherwise the food is very good. Small bit of noise from main street.

Review 93:Great central location with parking available for 6 Euro per day, only 200 yards away. You can come and go as you please without buying another ticket.

Review 94:We had a comfortable room and it was clean and everything worked but it's beside main square and street noise was horrendous until 3 am so be warned at weekend. Also walls are paper thin so noisy neighbours can be a problem

Review 95:Breakfast was good not a huge choice but freshly cooked to your liking and good service.

Review 96:There was a smell coming from the kitchen in some of the rooms which is unpleasant.

Review 97:The location is perfect for central Galway, I like the little things like mugs instead of cups and nice coffee in the rooms

Review 98:Was waiting for few minutes in the empty reception area to check in while the duty manager and bar staff were trying to figure out the tv channels in the bar. When I eventually got their attention, the receptionist also appeared and asked how they could help. Would not have been an issue if anybody had apologised for not noticing me, or for delay. Would have liked to see a hair dryer in the room but not a major issue.

Review 99:Lovely clean room, great shower, overall clean and tidy looking hotel, in general friendly staff.

Review 100:Bring earplugs unless you're going to be out until 2am. Also, drivers, there is no parking and no stopping at the hotel. They offer a discount in a nearby public car park but find out in advance which one it is or you'll end up being sucked up by the city's traffic and end up in the wrong one. Breakfast (not included in our standard rate) is an adjoining business on the street. Terribly dated for 2015, their refurbishment means new tiles and no hooks fir towels.

Review 101:WiFi worked well and the water pressure in the shower was good.

Review 102:Excellent location and friendly staff. Also good to have services available like laundry and dry cleaning. Staff was always available for questions.

Review 103:The noise outside from the heating system woke very early 5.30am and could not get back asleep - look for a room front facing to avoid this

Review 104:Location, lovely breakfast and staff very friendly

Review 105:there was nothing to dislike

Review 106:staff very friendly and helpful, hotel room lovely and warm, value for money, near to town hall theatre pubs and restaurants

Review 107:One major problem, At breakfast the staff dropped my breakfast on the floor in front of me, picked it off the ground- went back into the kitchen & came back out to hand me what was my breakfast which had fallen on the floor. The egg was cracked & had bits of dirt on it!

Review 108:room was clean & showers were hot! Hotel was central.

Review 109:The hotel is very very noisy as it's opposite a couple of pubs and on a main road. Its a little run down but is in the process of being renovated.

Review 110:The staff were lovely and the location was convenient for the centre of Galway

Review 111:Room was a little small . It's only a very minor negstive

Review 112:Location of this hotel is fantastic, close to bus station, train station etc. Room was spotless

Review 113:Bar staff talking among themselves and slow to serve. Bar person in the residents bar was not the most pleasant and refused pint of water to a group member at 6.30am who came down from his room and was suffering wit the hiccups telling him the bar was closed!!

Review 114:Receptionists and breakfast staff very friendly

Review 115:After reading a few bad reviews was a bit worried about our stay but we went to see for ourselves and couldn't get over how wrong some of these reviews were..staff couldn't have been more accommodating, the place was very clean and was also in the middle of renovations but didn't interfere with anything the breakfast was great and the location is Absaloutely superb I will gladly be staying here again

Review 116:On the 1st night we had a vary bad room on the 4th floor, bed was poor, sink was half blocked, We did report it.

Review 117:On the second night we had a better room it was comfortable. Staff wear very good. P.S. Breakfast is poor quality, no taste

Review 118:Breakfast was a little chaotic and crowded for my taste, but a small matter.

Review 119:Lovely, comfy lobbies, location, bar and service. I lolled in front of a fire on a rainy day and enjoyed a book. Ennis is a treat and this hotel was close to all the sights.

Review 120:I requested a quiet room. I do understand the hotel is located in one of the busy places in Galway. My room was so noisy . I felt I was asleep in Eyre Square Park . The rooms need updating and all windows should be at least triple glazed. My room stank iof stale smoke.

Review 121:Staff, bed was comfortable and breakfast was very good.

Review 122:The place was a bit messy when we arrived - used glasses and dishes in the hallways. Rooms were clean enough though.

Review 123:Extremely well-situated in Galway, close to nightlife, great value.

Review 124:Some smell of paint as they were in the midst of a redecorating project.

Review 125:The staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable, though a bit small.

Review 126:Taking into consideration that the hotel was being refurbished (which we didn't know before hand), the noise from the band playing in the bar was unacceptable.

Review 127:Location was great and so was the food.

Review 128:hotel was in middle of renovations, walls are thin and we were two floors up and could still hear music from the bar next door below us

Review 129:lovely spot right in the heart of galway which is a lovely city and great atmosphere

Review 130:Some of the Furniture was worn. Other then this everything was good. the Value for money-All hotels in Ireland are overpriced.

Review 131:Location, Staff, Ease of Access

Review 132:I have nothing to say as I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Review 133:Staff great and very professional. Breakfast lovely. Great location for town centre all within walking distance.

Review 134:Rooms were small and extremely stuffy. When we got to our room the bed sheets were gruby and the head board fell off when I sat down on the bed. The PA system from the bus station was sounding right into the room so we were well informed of all arrivals and departures throughout our stay...

Review 135:Other than the location, I couldn't say an awful lot more!!!

Review 136:Nothing except the pillows.

Review 137:The friendly homely staff especially Receptionist Aoife and waitress Lucia Location 4 minutes walk from the Railway Station.
