Reviews for Clybaun Hotel

Review 1:The location when we booked on the web site had the wrong address. took us 1/2 hour to find the Hotel with the correct address

Review 2:Clean, tidy, good staff, lots of room no problems

Review 3:We had a delightful stay at Clybaun, when I checked in the young irish lady on reception was extremely polite and friendly and made a great first impression. Our room was large and spacious and clean. Furthermore we also had food in the hotel bar, and the young gentleman named Noumann could not have been more polite and friendly and the way in which he speaks and deals with customers was very professional and a credit to your hotel, so please do extend these praises to him. Overall we enjoy our stay at Clybaun.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Nice helpful staff, comfort room. A huge food (not only) store at 5-minute walk. The bus (411) departs every half hour to the city center (15-20 min). If someone likes walking - 30-40 min walk to the Salthill (Galway) Promenade.

Review 6:We liked how spacious the hotel is, the delicious breakfast, the comfortable bedroom, the friendly staff and the location which is near the city. The city can be reached by bus (December 2015) 2 Euro, or by taxi 11 Euro. We'll be back again in summer...

Review 7:Hotel is dated & resembles a 3 star hotel. Breakfast had very little choices. View from room was a car park and roundabout. We upgraded to a suite but room was still very average just larger. Staff are very friendly and helpful but could do with a tidy/smarten up.

Review 8:Leisure facilities are a big plus

Review 9:Booked online an paid well over the odds for the room and there was no space for negotiation on arrival. Our room was far too hot for the little baby with us, wifi connection was awful, no facecloth in the bathroom to bath the children with, fire lock on the windows wasn't engaged,

Review 10:We were visiting family in Salthill so location was excellent, everything was clean and the food we had was lovely.

Review 11:We stayed with our young baby and the staff couldn't have been more helpful especially the receptionist who rang up to our room after we arrived to see that the travel cot was suitable and if we needed anything . Will definitely be back as it was our first hotel trip away with baby made much easier by a family friendly hotel

Review 12:No toothbrush, toothpaste Too hot at night (wish there were a controller for radiator setting) No water and food ready in the room

Review 13:Luxurious architecture Friendly staff Clean room

Review 14:On entering the bar we asked the bar man where to sit and he said we could sit anyway and someone would be down to take our order however it was a number of minutes before anyone came to take our order .This was just a minor issue thought and did not taint our overall good views twords the hotel .

Review 15:Loved the relaxed atmosphere around the hotel and very friendly receptionists. Also the food was superb both in the bar ,breakfast and the afternoon tea .

Review 16:My key card kept stopping working. The "do not disturb" or "please clean my room" sign was so beat up it wouldn't hang properly on the door. Very minor issues!

Review 17:The staff were lovely and the hotel was clean. The outside design is a little odd and looks out of place in Galway but inside it's really lovely. Price was excellent for the standard.

Review 18:The hotel room was extremely hot even after turning off the radiator Think the staff/ hotel could be more child friendly or have colouring packs to keep them entertained at meal times or a play area .

Review 19:The food in bar was excellent with good table service . The lobby in hotel was great and there was also a large conservatory which opened onto the decked garden area perfect for a busy toddler to run round.

Review 20:Everything was just perfect the staff in particular where outstanding and very helpful. Location perfect and the hotel was beautiful and very clean. The hot tub outside was an added bonus. Bar and food was excellent too and the service. Loved every minute.

Review 21:A little outside of the centre (closer to Salthill); a long walk although a very short car or taxi journey

Review 22:Great value, excellent facilities including sauna, pool, gym. Room and bed comfortable.

Review 23:We ordered room service and were given the wrong order and some of it was cold. Couldn't get to sleep due to the noise coming from the function room 2 floors done. Had to complain 3 times before I got to speak to a manager. Even without the noise the bed and pillows were poor quality.

Review 24:Bath towels were VERY small.. Wouldn't go round you.. More like a hand towel... Bed too hard.. Very noisey outside the window.by courtyard until 2am.. Cleaning staff... Was asked to come back in half an hour, as it was early.. She came back with in 5 minutes and let herself in.. The following morning we had a sign on the door.. Do not disturb.. She made so much noise banging crockery and slamming doors, she woke us up..

Review 25:The room was clean.. Plenty of parking

Review 26:Everything was good apart from the pillows being like stones

Review 27:Great hotel. Nice reception area. Clean hotel with refurbished rooms. GREAT value for money

Review 28:Breakfast wasn't good for the money...

Review 29:Nice place and friendly helpfull staff. Few minor things in the room but didn't upset the stay. Would stay here again next time Im down.

Review 30:Entrance area a bit sterile.

Review 31:The hotel was lovely. The entrance and foyer are a bit stark. The bedrooms are well appointed. The bar areas are cosier, and breakfast was good. Overall good value for money.

Review 32:Poor water pressure from the shower!

Review 33:Newly decorated, very tasteful job! Late Bar snack was fantastic and excellent value for money. Warm room, very clean and comfortable beds. Extremely good value for money!

Review 34:On Friday night someone painted and the fumes took over the bar and we had to leave. On Saturday morning there was hamering going on under our room which kept us awake from 8am. I decided to go for a swim Sunday morning but the boiler had broke so the water was cold and no jacuzzi.

Review 35:Lovely hotel. Beautiful bar with great atmosphere and tasty food. I would reccomend.

Review 36:Nothing major, only little maintenance needs to be done...Vents in corridor covered in black plastic don't look good, bedside table lampshade wobbly needs fixing, general lighting a bit poor for reading, shower pressure a bit low, only details, can easily be improved. Way more good points than bad!!

Review 37:It was our 2nd or 3rd time staying there and we will be back. 1st time trying the restaurant and we were impressed with the presentation and value for money.Very nice staff at reception and restaurant.Loved the leisure center, the outdoor jaccuzzi is a big "+"

Review 38:On the site it said this hotel is in salthill. It is over half an hour walk from salthill. there were a lot of maintenance works being carried out whilst we were there. I understand these have to be done. However the hours they were working were inconsiderate for their guests. They did not stop working i.e. banging on the Sunday until after 8pm. They started banging Monday morning before 8am. Then during that maintenance started sawing the walls in the hallway right outside our bedroom. Reception staff were very apologetic but the noise continued. You wouldn't find this amount of work on a building site at that time of a Monday morning. Also the got tub her limited opening hours.

Review 39:We had a lovely evening meal in o,Gormans bistro.

Review 40:a member of bar staff was rude everytime we were ordering food and drinks.

Review 41:everything was great especially the breakfast although it is a little expensive it is worth it! room very nice and most staff very helpful! good gym/pool facilities and wifi great on 2nd floor. parking also a bonus no hassle atal.

Review 42:Our initial room did have a poor WiFi signal.

Review 43:Gary was perhaps the most professional hotel staff person I have ever met. We had a weak WiFi connection and were offered a room change, he helped us move our luggage, and checked to make sure the new room was satisfactory. This was far beyond what we expected and was much appreciated!

Review 44:it was noisy at night- stag party on site at the time of my visit

Review 45:rooms were spacious, cofortable and clean. friendly staff, perfect location between salt hill and the city

Review 46:We loved the access to the spa as we were staying in the hotel, it was just perfect! a taxi into the city was about 15e for the three of us. cant complain over anything,

Review 47:The Hotel and Staff were great. I was there for my Fathers funeral so i cant say it was a great time. My father was a customer and all the staff remembered him which was nice.

Review 48:Room was facing out onto the smoking area for the function room and there was a party on. Things got a bit loud, but luckily the noise was finished at around 11am, so I could sleep

Review 49:Excellent facilities. When your on the road for business it's always nice to have a gym at your disposal. Wifi was good in the rooms. Rooms were clean.

Review 50:The bed. The heat in the room. The shower was very poor. No water pressure

Review 51:I really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was lovely but the bed was very small and uncomfortable. The room was so warm it was uncomfortable. The staff were lovely though really helpful and friendly. The food was absolutely gorgeous. I would defiantly stay again but would ask for a better room.

Review 52:The worst thing I could say about our stay was the room was rather hot and the mattresses was dipped.

Review 53:Staff were very friendly and they put Halloween movie on for the kids with treats and a meal for no extra charge. Very impressed!

Review 54:Didn't like separate charge for breakfast and attitude of person taking payment for it. Also hotel much further from town centre than expected.n

Review 55:Liked pool and room. Bar staff friendly.

Review 56:The hot Breakfast buffet selection was quite basic and could have been a lot warmer. Fresh fruit selection was poor to say the least... prunes only every morning.. Guests are cleared out of the bar shortly after 12 midnight to a very confined lobby area and it was very difficult if not impossible to purchase a drink after 1am.

Review 57:Room was well appointed and comfortable. Leisure centre was enjoyable for the most part. Staff should concentrate on keeping swim lanes free from children for H and S reasons. Bistro style dinner menu was excellent and good value.

Review 58:Traffic around town and parking in town... Busy place.

Review 59:Very friendly and homely place... Loved the outside jacuzzi... Excellent choice of meals and absolutely delicious.. Will be back.

Review 60:Noise outside from the bar throughout the second night, graduation group shouting and making noise. I told receptionist I wasn't happy in the morning, she wasn't very helpful. Also my massage and treatment got cancelled at short notice and again the receptionist couldn't point me to another service in town. I felt that the receptionists let the hotel down. Not very accomodating or helpful, very dismissive.

Review 61:I liked the pool, bar and breakfast. Food was gorgeous.

Review 62:Poorly designed women's changing rooms. Hard with small kids. Lots of stairs to negotiate and code needed which didn't have so had to go back down stairs with tiny child. All a bit much.

Review 63:reception area was nice. Cleaning staff were doing a very good job in the rooms.

Review 64:I found some of the staff in the bar very rude and not helpful. As I seen cutlery on the table I presumed food was served at that time so I asked the staff member for menus and the tone she spoke in wasn't nice at all.

Review 65:The hotel itself is lovely, the facilities are great.

Review 66:Female with mobility issues beware- the ladies; changing rooms are one flight of stairs up from the pool

Review 67:Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was great

Review 68:Olga in the Spa was wonderful so kind and professional. Nueman was also so helpful and kind while we enjoyed our night away in Galway. The facilities are perfect for young children, plenty of Spa deals for parents too!

Review 69:was a little far outside the town 12euro for taxi into town but this became 19euro to get back from town

Review 70:place was fab, spotless food amazing and staff great

Review 71:Beautiful Hotel Staff very Friendly Facilities great. Loved th outdoor Hot tub. Lovely outdoor areas with seating. great food lovely Bar. Will definitely be back.

Review 72:Allowing guests outside to the courtyard in the middle of the night was noisy for all guest rooms surrounding it.

Review 73:Great to have a pool and jacuzzi in a cheaper hotel. Robes, or advising guests to bring robes would save a lot of hassle going to changing rooms.

Review 74:Towels were not very big ... no big bath towels

Review 75:staff at reception were excellent. They answered any query and were able to give directions. they were pleasant at all times. Even though its a bit far out its very well sign posted and easy to get to.

Review 76:That we couldn't stay for longer :)

Review 77:I received a courtesy call in the week leading up to our stay to confirm we were still coming. I mentioned it was for my partners birthday and when we arrived we had been given a comp upgrade with a card and chocolates in the room. A very unexpected but very welcome touch. It made the stay for us. The accommodation department were top notch, it felt like walking into a new room every day when we came back (room 247). Gina on reception, Sharon in the bar and Sonny at breakfast were fantastic to deal with.

Review 78:Reception staff were rude and unhelpful. Rooms weren't ready at the 3pm check-in time and their response was simply "well they're just not ready". We'd booked dinner for a special occasion, confirmed via email before arriving and once again when we arrived. We went down for dinner at 7pm and the restaurant was closed, we asked reception and they said they don't open on Sundays but we could eat in the bar. We advised that we were there for a special occasion which is why we'd confirmed everything previously and we didn't want to celebrate in a pub - the response was "well the restaurant doesn't open on Sundays".

Review 79:Although the reception staff were rude and unhelpful, the manager was excellent. He understood the issue with celebrating a special occasion in a pub and he opened the restaurant for us.

Review 80:dinner menu could be more exciting!!!! for the cost! perhaps some live music , nothing too harsh show casing local talent would be good.I personally do not like those tvs on all round but that is only me!

Review 81:comfortable bed, lovely friendly staff, Sonny went out of his way to look after myself and my friend.Josephine had a lovely smile for us each morning at breakfast and staff looked after us very well.

Review 82:Leaving to go home :(

Review 83:Very good staff, friendly and welcoming. Lovely rooms. Very clean throughout,. Did not get a chance to use pool and jacuzzi so cannot comment on that. Breakfast was self service. I had sausages and egg, tea and toast and fruit. We were visiting friends about 5 miles away but used this as our base. Staff ordered taxis for us and they would arrive very quickly.

Review 84:Shower wasn't great at all. The swimming pool showers where better if I'm honest. Pool was ok but it felt it was a pool to learn people to swim not for anyone who couldn't swim (meaning to deep to risk and relax. But rest of the area was great.

Review 85:Outdoor pool and a lovely area to sit outside. Decking etc very relaxing. Rooms where dead on.

Review 86:THE MEAL IN RESTAURANT WAS OK APART FROM [1] FILLET STEAK WAS VERY TOUGH [2] BEEF ON BONE ALSO WAS VERY TOUGH [3] I HAD BAR DINNER ON 2ND NIGHT, RE-HEATED JUST AWFUL, MEAT LIKE CARDBOARD- TASTELESS-PITY AS IT TOOK FROM OUR ENJOYMENT OF OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL CASTLE & SURROUNDINGS

Review 87:We had beautiful room lovely walks/views of lake lucky with weather, enjoyed stay

Review 88:the breakfast is not great could be easily improved with a little thought

Review 89:its a lovely hotel with a cosy feel to it we stayed there a couple of times we look forward to a return visit

Review 90:The shower was poor and the bed was poor quality and hard..no biscuits in room..come on,what do they cost? Generally dated property compared to what you can get for less money in the area.

Review 91:Room was a good size and clean..outdoor jacuzzi nice touch!

Review 92:The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is spotless clean most comfortable bed and spacious room. great value for money and is located great between galway city and salthill. we had a great time.

Review 93:Poor selection of fruit at breakfast, no fresh fruit salad available. Everything else was perfect

Review 94:The staff were very efficient and friendly. The menu in the bar for very good and food was delicious. Drinks were priced very reasonably also for a hotel

Review 95:The bad things was getting warm soup, not once but twice!! On 2 different days, its not hard to heat soup. This is my only gripe.

Review 96:The pool and sauna where was a big draw for us, very clean hotel, rooms were nice a spacious.

Review 97:Could I suggest one or two things. The lock on the Door, my grandson was able to open it, I complained to the receptionist but she said it was the design of the door lock. we had to put the travel cot in front of it. also a nappy bucket would be great for the dirty nappies, we had to ask one of the girls cleaning the rooms for extra plastics bags. there just small things and they didn't take away from our trip.

Review 98:I was travelling with my heavily pregnant Daughter and 19 month Grandson. the family room was a great size, it was very quite, the breakfast was great. we used the pool it was great for all of us. my grandson has lots of room to run around.

Review 99:The staff in the breakfast restaurant would need to improve a bit. Having to ask and ask again for tea or coffee is not great first thing in the morning.

Review 100:Check in staff were excellent, welcoming etc. General level of cleanliness etc was very good.

Review 101:We did get a strong smell of smoke when we got to our room 206 so that was the only complaint

Review 102:It was such a great location and the staff really helped us

Review 103:Room starting to look tired (226), bath panel was falling off the Bath. Shower head needs to be maintained or water pressure looked at. I had to run around in the shower to get wet.

Review 104:Very quiet room (226). Breakfast.

Review 105:Reception and wait staff were friendly but I in such a tourist area I would have liked to be served by "Irish" rather than Eastern European staff.

Review 106:No problems.

Review 107:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent with bus stop outside hotel direct to the city so you could leave the car at hotel to save time looking for parking.

Review 108:distance from town if you fancy walking was a little bit far out, but would stay at the hotel again found it relaxing and enjoyable

Review 109:The cleanliness and brightness of hotel was excellent, friendly staff , great pool and gym facilities

Review 110:the double bed sloped into the middle. The breakfast was below average. Not all items were on display, ie grapefruit segments, croissants and the white puddings were disgusting.

Review 111:Indoor pool, location friendliness of staff

Review 112:Cleaning staff argued outside our room at 9am and when asked to quiet down less than a half hour later we received a warning under the door about smoking in the room which we weren't doing. This was petty and really lowered the tone of the stay

Review 113:Everything except cleaning staff

Review 114:location a bit too far out of city and salthill. Main restaurant rough and ready. I felt the food was being threw out at us. Quality of food could be improved. Staff were under pressure people had to wait while tables were cleaned and re set. Continental breakfast poor no cheeses, ham, or selection of nice breads/ rolls on offer.

Review 115:Staff very helpful and friendly. Clean, comfortable surroundings. Leisure facilities excellent. Bistro lovely and food excellent.

Review 116:Asked for a quiet room, was put above the smoking area of a very loud bar. Asked for a twin room, got one, but there was a bed missing, was offered a camp bed for my son. After paying a lot of money, it is a joke I had no extra bed, their excuse was the hotel was full. Shower did not work either. Was asked upon leaving if I would like a call from the manager, 3 days later still no call.

Review 117:The buffet breakfast was inclined to let the eggs get over-cooked. I would describe the fitness suite as 'ordinary'.

Review 118:Good value if you get a big discount, but forget it at the 'official price'. A good choice when discounted for budget travellers looking for a little luxury.

Review 119:Staff was extremely rude, need basic lessons in hospitality. They were playing very loud music for a party -Just One Customer till 12.30 pm and not bothered about residents who need some sleep. When protested even Manager was rude to shut us up. When we requested discount for sleepless night they bluntly refused. Booking.Com must delete this Hotel from its List and insist on their own inspection before taking them on board. Hotel Managaement needs complete revamping particularly Lady Receptionist at the Counter.

Review 120:Nothing!

Review 121:i would have liked scrambled egg for breakfast as i dont like fried egg

Review 122:The hotel was very clean and the view into the back garden was very pleasant, although if found the room a little too warm as we couldn't open the windows too far. We loved the pool and canadian hot pool.

Review 123:Not a lot of variety for breakfast, buffet empty.

Review 124:Ideal location for Glenlo Abbey hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, allowed us to check in early, very accomodating.

Review 125:I think if you are looking for city centre or have not a car this might not be for you as it's a drive or bus ride into city. We have children so being near Salthill, the beaches, use of a pool and ample car parking is what we look for.

Review 126:We have stayed here before and have returned twice so I think that says it all. The staff in the hotel are extremely friendly.

Review 127:Just didn't get a deal for brekkie

Review 128:The hotel was spotless and it been our first venture to a hotel with our 15month son I'd have no hesitation in booking again. Very child friendly, spotless, excellent.

Review 129:would have liked better selection of bread and cheese and cold meats at breakfast

Review 130:Hotel was very clean bright and spacious opening out onto a nice lawn area with decking .staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 131:The receptionist in the fitness club wasnt helpful at all. Breakfast wasn't included in our price and we had to pay 9.50 every morning.

Review 132:The room we stayed in was very modern and we had a nice view of the courtyard area where the hot tub is situated. The hotel receptionist that we encountered is a credit to the hotel, they were all extremely helpful and friendly. very clean also

Review 133:Absolutely nothing

Review 134:Room was excellent- had a executive suite which was very reasonably priced, thought it would noisy Ast itwas near the road, but it wasn't, Our room was cleaned every day and was extremely well done, we even had bathrobes which was a lovely touch and appreciated after a long soak following a long day of sight seeing. Food and drink was very reasonably priced and was excellent. We ate in the hotel every night and you would struggle to find anywhere better. Outdoor area and conservatory is lovely, sat in these areas quite a lot, as we lovely had lovely weather.

Review 135:small thing but was dealt with by blond girl on desk so left very happy

Review 136:nice hote,l nice very helpful staff, good food nice bar friendly punters and staff.

Review 137:Only one thing ordered a Chicken/ Bacon Club Sandwich for lunch - no Chicken in the sandwich.... couldn't be bothered saying anything I was so hungry

Review 138:Clean & Tidy - Great Parking Easy to get around
