Reviews for Hotel Olimpia
Review 1:Shower is below par. Bad water pressure. Improved a bit after we complained. We've been there before so knew how to find reception. Into building and lift to 4th floor. Signage from street could be better.
Review 2:Excellent location. Friendly helpful staff. Will stay again.
Review 3:No bad experience, just things to know: - no free wifi (but there is wifi more or less everywhere in the center of Florence) - only sweet breakfast - 4th floor with broken (when we visited) elevator - when you shower you float the bathroom - not a problem for us as we stayed only one night, showered in the morning and then left, but maybe to keep into account in case of a longer stay.
Review 4:Good value for money: super central, clean, cheap, good breakfast (to know: Italian style, so only sweets). We could leave the baggage there (on a Wednesday). Really nothing to complain about.
Review 5:The room wan't clean at all, very old stuff in it. The pictures on this site are totally diferrent from the reality. Very noisy people in the hotel and the managers didn't say anything at all unless you complain. Very disappointed.
Review 6:The location is great, right in the middle of historical centre.
Review 7:- very poor breakfast - the coffee was a disaster!! never had a worse coffee in my life not even in countries that couldn't care less (recommend opting for no breakfast in Florence - get a good one at any corner) - no noise isolation (you can hear others talk, splash the toilet, walk in the corridors, etc...im not fussed about noise in general but had to use earplugs - need to pay for wifi I spent one night in a hostel nearby for half price without breakfast and had to share a toilet but comparing the two I would go for the hostel in the future (less noise, cleaner, more intimate and not worthy to invest in hotel breakfasts in Florence)
Review 8:- the location - rooms are spacious
Review 9:Decor a little tired, but these former grand hotels would require substantial investment to bring up to modern standards. More positives than negatives though. A quirky charm of its own.
Review 10:Location, friendly staff, clean room, good wifi, hot powerful shower, good value for money
Review 11:No air conditioning like stated in the description therefore opening windows for fresh air but exposed to the piazza noise and very loud music till 1:30 in the morning.
Review 12:People at reception and cleaning are very nice and helpful, Proximity, elevator, breakfast, water and soft drink supply.
Review 13:Hotel is located on the top floor of older building so everything there is very historic and sometimes lucking modern conveniences like separate shower stall. The shower head is located right in the bathroom and being separated by only shower curtain, so after shower all bathroom floor is flooded which can present some slipping hazard. Some staff members where not overly helpful and sometimes even annoyed with their guests. Be aware of some street noise.
Review 14:Hotel Olimpia is located right in the center of Florence, so you don't need your car to get anywhere. But it was hard to drive there, because you need to drive on pedestrian areas sometimes. Hotels provides (paid) valet parking for you which is nice. Overall it's a good older hotel with large, clean rooms and nice breakfast for decent price. I would stay there again.
Review 15:Room by noisy entrance, noise echoed through open hallway, a decent fire door would half this. Rooms very basic and dated
Review 16:Good location in middle of town beside cathedral
Review 17:The bathroom is very small, with no shower cabin -not at all practical. Old closet in the room (old is not always mean "antique"...). Poor breakfast. In any case, the low price is a good reason to oversee some of the defaults.
Review 18:Great location, in a walking distance from everything you want to see in Florence. The building is old, but the room was clean. Very good communication by e-mail prior to arrival, to solve minor reservation issues. Special thanks to Serena in the front desk, you were very kind and helpful! In case you don't intend to spend a lot of time inside the hotel and you prefer to walk in Florence instead, is a decent solution.
Review 19:Poor bathroom without cabin, wifi is good but 1.5 euro per hour, poorly insulated walls-heard talking in the other rooms and the hallway.
Review 20:Perfect location, very clean room, confortable bed, safe box, good climate.
Review 21:Breakfast was Lacking. Not much choice for kids lots of cakes, but who eat cake for breakfast.
Review 22:Loved the hotel staff. Location was great. Can't say enough about the location. The rooms where nice.
Review 23:Reception staff was always rude and impatient. There was no shower but a curtain inside the bathroom so everything got wet. No free WiFi and air conditioning in triple room didn't work.
Review 24:Convenient location
Review 25:A little hard to find GPS cuts out with all the close buildings, also located at top of building is reception, I.e. the fourth floor of the building.
Review 26:In the heart of the city center
Review 27:The lift should be replaced with a bigger and modern one.
Review 28:First of all the location is perfect, two min walk to piazza del doumo and to piazza della signoria. The staff were friendly and very helpful with everything.
Review 29:no possibility to leave luggage on Sunday (at least on that particular Sunday) - better check ahead if you need this service.
Review 30:perfect location in the middle of Florence, 24 hour reception
Review 31:The bathroom was tiny, cramped and the shower drain had hair all over it. The door didn't even open all the way, due to the hand basin being in the way. There is no fridge in the room and not enough blankets to feel comfortable. Breakfast was a joke, all of the pastries were old and hard. There was a choice of two cereals and some yoghurts, which are the best choices. There were not enough tables in the breakfast area when the rush of people come out of their rooms to eat. I suggest getting to breakfast before 7.30am.
Review 32:The location is excellent - you can walk to everything within 10mins.
Review 33:Hotel on to floor only of large building. Staff not overly friendly on reception. Room very large and bare. Shower over the top of the toilet. Parking expensive and difficult to drive through the restricted zone to get to the hotel.
Review 34:The location was excellent. Great view from the dining room over the square. This was the main reason we were here, hence why we'd recommend for a similar one night stay, as long as not too much is expected from the hotel.
Review 35:Hard to get there with a car (our GPS got creazy) Expensive parking place (26 EUR/ day) Low water pressure, weird shower solutions (after taking a shower all the bathroom was under water) Unfriendly guy at the reception desk
Review 36:Great location in the center, close to everything Nice breakfast Very friendly and helpful lady at the reception Spacious room Air conditioning
Review 37:People need to pay for the wifi of hotel, it's really funny...Not even talking about the hotel itself
Review 38:Old looking room, bathroom was very old design and not satisfactory, old model lift
Review 39:Great location, good breakfast
Review 40:Wifi cost extra and was restrictive.
Review 41:Great location.
Review 42:The breakfast it is an Italian one, basically sweets.
Review 43:The location is fabulous and the room spacious and with a nice air.
Review 44:Shower and paying for wifi
Review 45:Nice big room and location
Review 46:The location!!
Review 47:the hotels location cannot be bet. straight onto the main square. the rooms had air conditioning and were adiquate
Review 48:They charge for wifi use 1.50€/hour.
Review 49:Clean rooms and a nice view from the hotel room of old Florence.
Review 50:Great location. Great views.
Review 51:Very good location
Review 52:Shower
Review 53:Location
Review 54:Shower and overly sweet breakfast. Wish they offered scrambled eggs.
Review 55:hotel was only on 3rd floor, and it was not nice at all.
Review 56:location is perfect
Review 57:if possible, please change the shower-head ! And it's one of the coldest room I ever stay.
Review 58:Great location!
Review 59:Just could not say enough wonderful things. Staff, location, rooms, was all great.
Review 60:charges for a slow wifi connection
Review 61:location
Review 62:Bathroom (small and a wet room type)
Review 63:Location Breakfast Size of rooms Staff
Review 64:Everything,noise,dirty,air condition smells mould ,breakfast poor, not isolated walls
Review 65:Only location which is convenient
Review 66:Can't think of anything......
Review 67:Great period features of hotel made for a lovely stay. Friendly staff. Great location. Fantastic breakfast.
Review 68:ıt was not clean, it was soooooo dirty, there was not any wifi, the stuff did not help us at all we could not sleep because of the dirt
Review 69:There are limited parking and limited access to drive next to the street if your driving and if you want to drop off ur family and luggages in front of the hotel.
Review 70:My family loved the fact that the hotel is located in the center of town and shopping district. Also very close to the Cathedral.
Review 71:Bathroom , water pressure was poor , water on floor after a shower , please consider giving guest something to mop up the water .
Review 72:Location , balcony , spacious room, serena was very helpful
Review 73:Room very poor and not 3 stars. One shutter on window nailed shut, the other broken and covered in tape. Window would not close securely. Very poor overall. Noisy from 6pm immediately behind reception. For the price, a rip-off. worst hotel I have ever booked through Booking.com
Review 74:Location on square.
Review 75:The room was a little bit noisy, although we were facing the internal yard. Also the toilet not up to standards, extremely small and practically impossible to take a shower.
Review 76:The position of the hotel: exactly in the middle of Florence; very easy to reach every museum or monument from the hotel, and the train station as well. The breakfast was good, with several cakes, bread with jam, juice, coffee, tea, but no savory options.
Review 77:Breakfast, no savoury. It's defo not a three star but something lower than that. Reception on third floor, rooms at the fourth and second floor, buiding staircase or lift to get there. Toilet? OMG it was 1 meter x 3 meters max and you could of sat on the toilet whilst having a shower (curtain obviously) and turn your head towards the right where you had a mirror where you could of shaved meanwhile....
Review 78:Location, i know Florence is small but it was litterally in the center. Easy to get to when u find out where to go! You think is the posh one you see from the square but then you find out it's not lol
Review 79:The hotel is located on two floors. I was on the 4th floor, which is shared with the reception/dining area and the kitchen -- somewhat noisy. I was woken up every morning at 5:30 due to breakfast prep in the kitchen. Definitely ask for rooms on the 3rd floor!
Review 80:The location was terrific, right in the center of the city. Lovely staff. Comfortable bed. And the buffet-style breakfast was excellent.
Review 81:The air conditioning did not work well, but that was a common theme Inoticed on my travels in Europe. The shower was very small. I am5'8", athletic and weigh 150lbs and I would make skin contactwith the toilet when turning around in the shower. The shower definitelycould not accommodate a larger person.
Review 82:Location was excellent with many nearby attractions. Great restaurantswere literally right outside the door. The staff were very kind andhelpful unlike other hotels in Italy. The continental breakfast waswonderful.
Review 83:I would advise to indicate better the location of the hotel at the entrance, the shower required some slight improvement, the quality of the breakfast (coffee was undrinkable), better to have few choice but better quality, still staying on simple things. Thank you.
Review 84:Very kind, effective, helpful staff, clean room, excellent location, I will definitely stay in this hotel again.
Review 85:The hotel is not easy to find because it's in the 3rd floor of a bigbuilding. It's better if they can describe much clear about thelocation. The breakfast is not as good as other hotels of Italy andGermany and Austria we stayed this trip.
Review 86:Location is very good and room is comfort and front desk person is veryprofessional and nice.
Review 87:Stuff. For my question: how can I log out the Internet, I was told:"how can I know, this is computer, you should know better".This is rude. Other guy, on the question, what is the price for the taxito the airport, he answered: "ask driverk how can I know".Also breakfast, of course not very nice, I have to say. In Italy, coffeehas to be the best! Coffee at least ;)
Review 88:I liked the locaton first of all. Room was very nice, clean, big enoughfor one person.
Review 89:Room,although clean, was a bit dark as we were at the back of the hotel. Bathroom was a 'wet room' & was very small (1m x2m) & shower needed a new 'head', but it was clean & plenty fresh towels. Tiles were a little old fashioned but no mildew. Nevertheless we managed just fine.
Review 90:Fantastic position. 10 mins walk, once we went the right way, from the train station. Staff were excellent. Breakfast continental, and more than adequate & plenty. Great coffee & fantastic view over the square the hotel is on.
Review 91:Night staff was rude, loud and scary. We were going to dinner and as we were leaving he said to bring a woman back for him and that he preferred blondes. He also had the radio or tv playing so loudly we could hear it in our room at 11:30 at night.
Review 92:Location was great! The day staff was great. Very helpful and polite.
Review 93:Poor direction at arrival signage outside no sign in the entrance. there were a few business in the biulding and the breakfast was blan and dry, staff could have been more welcoming.
Review 94:Clean and comfortable
Review 95:Wifi charge applicable and not free
Review 96:It was a spacious and clean room. Location is the best, few minutes walk to duomo and any other important land mark in Florence. Staff were good and breakfast is decent.
Review 97:1. only few rooms have panoramic view. We lived in a room, in which we couldn't open windows because of noise and terrible smell. 2. bathroom is uncomfortable, there is a promlem to take a shower
Review 98:1.in the centre of Firenze. 2. rather clean 3. breakfast is good
Review 99:The room n. 15 is too close to the loundry and it is very noisy in the night
Review 100:Te location is grat! exactly at midd way between Piazza della Signoria and the Cathedral. Price is very low and breakfast is included. The staff is friendly and very helpful: we had a problem with the nois in the room n.15 and the gave us another room for the following night in a more confortable room.
Review 101:Much noise at night. I couldn't identify the source. It could havebeen the lift of a very old model or street vendors folding andunfolding their metal stands. A lot of clanging!
Review 102:Location is excellent
Review 103:Coffee in the morning is by a self service machine that wasn't easy touse and the coffee was poor quality. When coffee is one of the delightsin Europe this coffee was a big disappointment. The morning desk staffwas busy and helping guest with this coffee machine was annoying forthem as well.
Review 104:The location was great. The room was large, clean and comfortable.Breakfast was good. Staff very nice.
Review 105:The hotel is in a fantastic location, only minutes from the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio as well as a 15 minute walk from the main train station with links to Milan and Rome as well as many other destinations. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 106:We were aware that the bathroom is unusual, in that you can have access to the toilet, shower, bidet and sink from one place! There is no shower stall....the shower flows directly onto the floor beside the toilet so you have to be organized and all shower one after the other. Our problem was that there was extensive mould on the grouting, floors and walls. This was partly due to a poorly functioning ceiling fan which needs to be vaccumed( visible dust balls) so it can function better. Staff was made awar of hygeine concerns on August 16, 2012. Very tiny bathroom, needs more hooks for clothes/towels as everything gets damp. This was only place we stayed at that charged for WIFI access, but we were aware prior.
Review 107:Location was fantastic, off a central plaza alive with nightlife. Small balconette to view plaza and peek-a boo look at Duomo. Comfortable room.
Review 108:The bathroom was quite absurd. Somebody must have just thought "hmmm lets change this toilet into a bathroom", and just fixed a shower head on one of the walls. Room was ok for the price and the location but it was facing a wall.
Review 109:Location was perfect. Very Central and right in the heart of a nice big square with loads of restaurants etc. Room was ok for the price and the location but it was facing a wall.
Review 110:The hotel was perfect for the price. The bathroom was a little awkwardas the shower was next to the toilet and only separated by a curtain, but it served its purpose. The air conditioning worked well, the staffwas helpful (they made dinner reservations for us), and the bed wascomfortable.
Review 111:Breakfast foods a bit too cake orientated.
Review 112:Fantastic central location from which to explore the sights and just a15 min walked from Santa Maria Novella train station.
Review 113:The hotel was noisy at night, both music from entertainment establishments and noise from late night revellers walking he streets. The automatic coffee machine's coffee was not too strong.
Review 114:The hotel location was excellent, located in central Florence, located on the sixth floor with access through a quaint lift. Breakfast was continental wih lots of choice.
Review 115:Hotel is on the third floor with a very small elevator. The bathroom was very small and the shower got everything in the room wet (no curtain). Also, the staff was very loud in the lobby at night and I had a hard time sleeping. My room was right behind the reception desk.
Review 116:The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 117:Room was not what was shown on the website pictures. It was cold, old, musty and out of date even for today's budget standards. The rate was ridiculously high for the room that was offered. Bathroom was an all encompassing shower/toilet/sink, so there was no shower stall/tub.... So if you werent careful, you would get the entire bathroom wet while showering. The beds were extremely hard, so never did get a full night sleep. The rooms were not sound proof, as we could hear talking in the hallway up to the front desk. Site claimed WiFi was available, but didn't tell you that it cost extra 5 euro for 24hrs access. All in all, this hotel was not the same that was offered/described on the we site. I would highly NOT recommend this to any other traveller.
Review 118:Location was great. Heart of the town square. Two restaurants located right outside the front door.
Review 119:The bathroom - actually the shower with no base is the only thing we did not like at the hotel.
Review 120:Definetly the location is the hotel's best asset. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. The rooms are big and comfortable.
Review 121:Pay for WiFi. One of the hardest beds ever.
Review 122:Excellent location and rate. Basic breakfast included.
Review 123:excellent location
Review 124:The location is fantastic
Review 125:Location and breakfast
Review 126:That it was on the Piazza and very central.
Review 127:Rooms noisy (old building, loud lift and fellow guests easily heard), bathroom dated (as per photos).
Review 128:Rooms cleaned daily, great breakfast
Review 129:Not keen on shower almost on top of toilet, room is big enough to have a proper bathroom.
Review 130:Fantastic location.
Review 131:Bathroom is so so small
Review 132:Location!!!
Review 133:Location , ease of booking , comfort ,helpful staff
