Reviews for The Connacht Hotel
Review 1:So far to walk to room as I am not that able. Long long corridors they did have lifts so no stairs.
Review 2:Great pool lovely food spacious room friendly staff
Review 3:Could improve on the cleanliness of the ladies changing rooms and showers and upgrade the TV
Review 4:Friendly and helpful staff Good location not far from the city centre Very Comfortable accommodation Lovely swimming pool
Review 5:Found the room to be very hot even after we turned off the heater
Review 6:Has a great pool and gym. Food in the restaurant is excellent and the man who served the breakfast to our room both mornings was very polite as he was the last time very lovely person and a great service.
Review 7:our bed sheets were not changed after our first night's stay left over food by the door was still there.
Review 8:Liked being met by a lovely lady on Reception and all The staff we encountered were very polite and helpful.
Review 9:Noise levels very high especially at night, children running through common areas constantly, no comfort or room to sit in the bar or foyer, long queue at check in even though pre booked, poor toiletries supplied in the bathroom.
Review 10:Friendly staff, nice leisure centre, lovely food.
Review 11:There was a strong smell of paint in the corridor but I understand there was renovations taking place.
Review 12:It wa lovely welcoming hotel.Have stayed here twice now and have not been disapoointed. Rooms are lovely and the bar is lovely and open and serves some tasty food.
Review 13:Quality of food at breakfast time and in the restaurant was very poor. Restaurant staffs response to a customer complaint. Please discuss complaints away from the public domain.
Review 14:Room size and warmth
Review 15:The heat in the rooms was very uncomfortable especially when sleeping. Had to ask for more cups, towels as there were four staying in the room and housekeeping only catered for 2 people, ran out of shower gel which was not replenished - some dirty dishes at breakfast and in the room. Remote for TV didn't work and seems to be an on-going problem as this is definitely a problem we have encountered with all of our stays. No fan in bathroom also a recurring problem with different rooms we have stayed in.
Review 16:Have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and each time has been different. Overall the staff are very nice and helpful, breakfast food choices very good.
Review 17:Expected toiletries in bathroom. Windows rattled in room. No soap in any pool changing room dispenser.
Review 18:Excellent dining experience. good pool but changing rooms dated.
Review 19:The hotel itself could do with a big makeover, everything seemed very dated and could do with a freshening up. The leisure centre has a lot to be desired and the restaurant food could be over up a notch.
Review 20:It was great to have the hotel situated close to the city centre and easy to access all the main roads. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 21:full of kids on New Years day, as a couple who wanted a break from our own kids, this was a little too much as kids where up until all hours
Review 22:staff very friendly, clean and food lovely
Review 23:Very family friendly hotel which is vital when you have young children like ourselves. Kids loved the pool and the kids club.we have been here on numerous occasions and will most definetly return.
Review 24:Very family friendly hotel, staff very helpful.had a 5yr old who was unwell and the duty manager was very caring and helpful ,even brought him lucuzade to the room. This is the kind of service and staff that make a hotel.really enjoyed our stay here..
Review 25:No offence to bar and waiting staff, just not enough of them. Tables uncleared. To long waiting to be served at bar and for food. So went to eat in city for dinner
Review 26:Children made welcome. Relaxing atmosphere. Staff friendly. Overall very comfy.
Review 27:Short staffed when I was there, had to queue for meals and when at dinner we were forgot about. The menu choice was poor and service was bad but that was not staffs fault!
Review 28:Hotel was lovely and good size bed and room.
Review 29:1> Rooms are not very well maintained; no toothbrush, paste, shower cap. The carpet wasn't quite clean. May be it was quite busy during Christmas time. 2> Room heater couldn't be controlled so the room was hot like a furnace 3> The information received about the opening hours of the gym and swimming pool was wrong 4> Breakfast wasn't great ; but okey
Review 30:1>The whole range of facilities at one place is excellent 2>The restaurant food is very good
Review 31:Hotel room was a glorified hostel... In fact a private room in a hostel would be better. Breakfast was awful. Room was freezing. Fire sensor covered in room. Lobby smelled of beer sloops. Honestly worst hotel experience in a long time. I did raise issues with hotel staff the following morning who were helpful but I would never stay there again nor would I recommend it.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:The Location was perfect. The staff were helpful, polite and courteous in every way. Lovely Hotel and would chose this again if and when visiting Galway and will be highly recommended to our friends. In addition breakfast time and checkout time made our stay very relaxing with no pressure
Review 34:Bedrooms were too warm at night. Very long wait for check in, needed more reception staff on at this time. Camp bed not very comfortable for child
Review 35:Great swimming pool. Nice friendly atmosphere.
Review 36:The only criticism I would have is the mattress needed replacing.
Review 37:Yhe staff were friendly but not in your face, very efficient. The whole experience was great, very relaxing. Will definietely be going back.
Review 38:Room (& beds) too small for 3 people, TV belongs on the ARK, breakfast never good so we went room only on this occasion. No mini fridge.
Review 39:Evening Food, Leisure Centre, Wi-fi
Review 40:breakfast was okay but nothing to shout about
Review 41:lovely rooms, comfy bed. we had two bed suit. 2 x doubles 2 x singles, pull out couch and baby cot (we requested) plenty of room. kitchen had fridge and hob and dishwasher, ideal for family stay. Resturant food was Gorgeous. the room service was lovely too. pool was lovely, great location
Review 42:Bar Staff not very friendly felt like we were inconveniencing them by ordering drinks they could be a bit more friendly.
Review 43:Great Hotel, good location clean and modern, receptionist was very welcoming and breakfast staff were very accommodating.
Review 44:The staff where rude not helpful at all waited for food for an hour that's after waiting 45 minutes to order.
Review 45:It was clean food was good when you get it the leisure facilities where great
Review 46:Another guest gained access to my room at 3am, luckily I had the chain on the door, as he was quite drunk at the time. A lot of disruption throughout the night due to loud guests coming back after a night out in the city. Extremely disappointing experience and no explanation / redress from management.
Review 47:Not a bad experience but a pity the roof leaked where we sat for evening meal and left me with a wet rear.
Review 48:nice atmosphere Good food Pleaseant music, Helpful staff,
Review 49:We did not have a bad experience, we did not find the staff very accomadating and the room s were just sufficient. For the price that was paidthere bathroom should have had the travel sets and more towels
Review 50:The rooms were lovely Breakfast was lovely and staff that morning were accommodating
Review 51:Musty smell of carpets in corridor Bedroom windows need to be changed in main part of hotel Not double glazed and rattling alot in the wind
Review 52:Room clean and spacious and warm
Review 53:We were staying for 2 nights and when we returned to our room after being out for the day our room had not been cleaned , bed not made etc.
Review 54:Good location if don't want to be staying in the centre of Galway but still close to Eyre Square. We had bar food on one of the evenings and it was really tasty and good value.
Review 55:We booked a double room through booking.com when we arrived we were told it was for a single person which was ridiculous. It started our stay on a bad footing noting it took over half an hour of arguing with staff to get sorted
Review 56:A mix up at reservations led to double booking our room and two guys arrived in when we were already in the room. Hotel were very quick at resolving the issue and making us happy again! The bar could have done with a good clean as the floor was filthy and sticky.
Review 57:Food was nice. Staff were very friendly. Music was good.Overall, a very pleasant place to stay.
Review 58:Our only observation would be the arrangement for ordering drinks at the bar. While waiting to give my order I was twice missed by bar staff of which their was only two that I could see for a such a large and busy area, where customers who shout the loudest seem to attract attention better.Would recommend a dedicated ordering area if not seated at the bar,
Review 59:I asked for an early booking as we were arriving in Galway early to attend a meeting,on arrival this request had been already pre recorded on my reservation so we were quickly allowed access to our room at 9 am by a very nice reception desk Lady. This hotel has always been our first go to option when staying in Galway. The leisure/Gym facilities are good, buffet breakfast feeds you for the day, rooms are spacious and very clean with a good comfortable bed and flat screen TV.We paid €98 with breakfast for overnight stay which was great.Location is good as you can stretch your legs by walking into Galway and avail of a short taxi ride for your return. As the hotel is just outside of the main city area you can enter and exit quickly without a lot of driving about.
Review 60:One gripe is that breakfast was a bit chaotic. The staff were friendly and clearly working hard to accommodate everyone but once we were seated it stopped. 15 minutes in we managed to ask for tea and coffee and after a further 20 minutes in hadn't arrived. It's a small thing but was unfortunate in the scheme of things.
Review 61:Front desk staff super. Value for money great. Location ideal for our needs.
Review 62:I slept in single bed room 1066. Bed bit wobbly also pillows were so hard could not sleep. I was planning on having a bath until I reliased no bath handles! Housekeepers entered room twice before 10am they just let themselves in while we still in bed.
Review 63:Close to town & ideal for Bons hospital.
Review 64:The rooms are dated and my bed was two single beds pushed together. The sheets made my skin irritated and the bathrooms were not very nice. The sheets in my room weren't very clean and the television had very bad channels.
Review 65:Good customer service and polite staff
Review 66:Don't like that I was there for one night instead of two. Can't think of anything in all seriousness.
Review 67:I love this hotel. Good parking, nice pub, close to te city centre, greeted pool and great jacuzzi.
Review 68:It was a twelve euro taxi ride to the main town and if I were there without the group that would have mattered. (there is a bus service though). We had very bad windy weather while we stayed and there were really loud noises keeping us awake. Probably the wind catching ariels on the roof so could'nt have been helped.
Review 69:Bedrooms were spacious and clean. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food excellent and not too expensive. Booked apartments but the apartments we got were more like two bedroom suites and had no cooker. However, that suited us as we were a group of adults and would have eaten out anyway. So very happy with everything.
Review 70:We really enjoyed the stay from start to finish. The staff were more than helpful. The pool was great, my lads had a great time! The food in the bar was really great both in taste and value. We really enjoyed the weekend. The hotel is a nice walking distance from the center of Galway. All in all a really great weekend was had.
Review 71:Rain spilling in the window frame room 1052 . Room felt a little cool , but heat was on .
Review 72:Staff excellent. Pleasent very helpful and very professional. Food excellent.
Review 73:Great hotel ,kids loved the swimming pool and kids club . Breakfast is fantastic ,rooms are clean and comfortable . Handy little shop just across the road .
Review 74:Great children activities and lovely staff taking great care to include all the children to participatethus allowed parents some quality time to relax
Review 75:Can't point out any problems
Review 76:Front of house staff we're very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Pool and gym staff we're equally charming and helpful. Overall everyone was extremely pleasant and accomodating.
Review 77:Friendly warm welcome. Spacious rooms with good facilities at the hotel. Leisure centre free. Ample parking. Lively bar. Public transport to the centre of Galway nearby.
Review 78:Wasn't really bothering but the floor is cranky in room, also TV is a bit old fashioned.
Review 79:Spent four nights during the week. Got a really spacious suite (booked in advance), well equipped, quiet, very good heating. Fast wifi. Good breakfast selection, attentive and helpful staff (f&b, reception, house keeping, wellness). Overall, excellent value for the price! Thank you for the relaxing time and friendly accommodation! Certainly would recommend and will be back again.
Review 80:Staff at breakfast service very slow waited 45mins for service to ask did we want teas an coffee an nearly an hr on the Sunday this could drastically be improved
Review 81:Shower wouldn't drain due to hair and exhaust in bathroom not working due to a build up of dust and lint.
Review 82:Friendly staff. Breakfast, parking and wi- fi available.
Review 83:Breakfast was quite chaotic. Staff were lovely but overwhelmed by numbers at times. Draughty windows in bedroom. Shower curtains in room & leisure centre were ineffective & not as clean as expected.
Review 84:Big pool & well-equipped leisure centre. Helpful, friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Quiet location.
Review 85:Bar staff were rude and aggressive when serving on 3 occasions during the stay fed back at time and was told. We are busy. .... Not acceptable and no they were not busy
Review 86:The welcome in reception was great. The room was clean and tidy
Review 87:Although it was just a place to sleep for me, the staff were very nice (especially at reception. Room was a lot more than I expected and I certainly made use of the delicious all you can eat breakfast.
Review 88:We had contacted the hotel to see if we could have breakfast included before our trip n lady said that it would be included however when we arrived we were told it wasn't included. After a long debate we got our breakfast. The size of the family room was tiny one double and one single bed when brought to attention they brought us a camp bed. Don't get the chicken main course in the restaurant absolutely tiny !!!
Review 89:Overpriced for one night. No breakfast included
Review 90:Fabulous hotel star quality room was very spacious didn't have time to use leisure facilities but the staff at bar and reception were very friendly really enjoyed our stay :) will be staying here again.
Review 91:Seemed to be a lot of kids staying, some of whom were running up and down the corridors at midnight, yelling at the top of their voices. Just unlucky I guess, wouldn't happen all the time.
Review 92:Quite central. Nice staff. Plenty of parking.
Review 93:Music in breakfast room was awful- too loud and bad choice for the morning! Bathroom needed an update.
Review 94:Nice hotel with lovely welcoming staff. Breakfast very good with lots of choice. We left the car and caught the bus into Galway which only took a few minutes-very easy.
Review 95:The bedroom decor was tired- old coffee cup marks on bedside tables. Shower curtain needed replacing.
Review 96:Good atmosphere - staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast value.
Review 97:The whole package was just excellent from the friendlyness of the staff to the music the hotel provided. the athmosphere in the hotel was something I never got in any other place I have ever stayed. Will be back
Review 98:I had a young male child with me in the ladies changing room of swimming pool an elderly lady was walking round totally naked . Not sure what hotel can do about this . But it was quite embarrassing .
Review 99:The relaxed athmosphere and the swimming pool was perfect for non swimmers as well as swimmers . The breakfast was plentiful and the beds were very comfy
Review 100:It's a little tired in places. Needs a bit of an update.
Review 101:Staff were very friendly. The pool is one of the better pools I've been to in an Irish hotel - lots of different areas. Suite that we got was good value.
Review 102:would have been nice to have been informed about the need to wear swim hats either at check-in or at least at the leisure club reception as once we were in the pool we had no choice but to pay €10 for 4 hats.
Review 103:great hotel for families. staff helpful and friendly
Review 104:Dining room was a bit grubby, dining room staff were untidy, some grubby uniforms. Pity as most other aspects were good.
Review 105:Generally good, good breakfast, clean room.
Review 106:The décor of the room we stayed in was a old and in need of attention. Discolouration around tiles in the bathroom. A little updating would have made a big difference.
Review 107:The breakfast was very good, with excellent service.
Review 108:I stayed in room 3039B and the fan in the barhroom was on constantly for the 2 days I stayed there. I told the lady who serviced the room and when I returned to room later someone had placed a towel over it which fell off a few times, it sounded like the wind blowing through the room constantly..it really does need to be fixed .
Review 109:The staff were lovely and very friendly. The food in the bar was nice and the leisure centre was lovely too.
Review 110:I stayed on a Thursday during October mid-term break. The palce was mobbed with families with young children. There is no problem with that. I do have a problem when I am entertaining business clients from the UK in the hotel bar and there are kids running around up to 11.00pm. One couple had two kids of approx age 8 or 9 in the bar until 12.30pm. The staff did not apprear to enforce the law that kids should not be in the bar after 9pm.
Review 111:Very friendly, efficient staff. Excellent family facilities, fab pool, kids club etc. Rooms very comfortable. Ideal location - not far from city centre and not right in the middle. Highly recommended.
Review 112:Wanted to stay longer! Great place.
Review 113:Love the staff, they're so genuine and thoughtful. Great place. Brilliant staff. Great layout of facilities. Family Friendly. Pool & Leisure facilities excellent. Loads of parking. 100% great.
Review 114:The kitchen facilities are quite limited in the apartment - just a microwave, no pots or pans or cleaning materials. Service was a bit slow in the restaurant - waited 25 minutes for kids ice cream when it wasn't that busy.
Review 115:Kids club, leisure facilities, spacious 2 bed apartment which worked out well for adults and 3 kids. Staff were very friendly.
Review 116:The food was very good and great fast service for kids, we ordered kids food first and was no delay same with deserts, good hot showers in changing rooms for pool and wasn't cold either which is big plus when going swimming, kids play room upstairs was very good the girls working there were very friendly and funny my kids loved them, got face painted, had disco, and so much toys to play with very safe to leave kids, I stayed because one of mine was under 3, really enjoyed it,would definitely recommend for family with young children and 10 min drive into city,
Review 117:The room had food crushed into the floor. The room was cold. Staff were rude at check in. Left after one night even though we had booked two.
Review 118:The pool was clean and well staffed
Review 119:Badly in need of signs advising on rules regarding going to the pool & kids club.
Review 120:I liked that fact that it was very family friendly. Lots for children to do.
Review 121:Changing areas in leisure centre bit grubby. Rooms bit tired and flooring/doors etc bit grubby also. Heat way too high throughout hotel
Review 122:It could be so nice just needs a major revamp.
Review 123:Children's food over priced in bar and poor quality. Questions for breakfast lengthy although apologetic and helpful.
Review 124:Staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly throughout hotel and leisureclub. Clean facilities
Review 125:The first night of our stay, the service in the restaurant was slow, took ages to take an order, we had to ask twice before someone eventually came to us, took 45mins from when we sat down for the starter to come, our sons garlic bread eventually came from the kitchen, we had to ask then where was our soup? Then we had another 20 min wait after the starter for main course, keeping a hungry 5yr old and 7yr old was difficult and stressful during this time. We ate in the bar another night and the service was great, couldn't fault it, I know it was very busy the first night, it seems that not enough staff were on to cater for this, it was very offputting, and left an impression for the rest of our stay. The food was excellent just a pity about the service.
Review 126:The kids club was great for the kids, they loved it, they also loved the swimming pool, great family break.
Review 127:The sheets on the bed were too small so unravelled during sleep This is our 2nd time in the hotel and our room on 3rd floor wasn't as nice as the first time we stayed but it was comfortable.
Review 128:Your staff are a credit every one of them was courteous and helpful.
Review 129:Our bathroom sink and floor was not very clean.
Review 130:The heating was turned off in our room. When I rang reception to report it, the receptionist was very helpful. Within 10 mins a member of staff came to our room with a plug-in heater and he turned on our heater back on. Very helpful and friendly
Review 131:The beds at first seemed comfortable but after a night of tossing and turning i found the bed quite awful. The televisions from 1991 could use an upgrade at this point.
Review 132:Pool was great and kids club was a great option. The room service food was very good and not the usual price gauging.
Review 133:The Cost of the Drinks after midnight. We had a number of drinks in the bar before we went into town and on our return we order drinks which were a lot more expensive Also charging 5.10euro for baby Guinness when ordering six is shocking.
