Reviews for The Weigh Inn Hotel

Review 1:No lounge to unwind or curl up on a sofa with a good book, lets the rest down.

Review 2:Nice convenient Hotel for the traveller, for the age of the building it was surprisingly clean and well maintained, big bedrooms, small bathroom but sustainable.

Review 3:The food was great but would have been nicer served in the resteraunt rather than the public bar.

Review 4:Although the hotel was busy the room was quiet and peaceful.

Review 5:WLAN much too slow and not possible to use nearly all day long, bath room has been dark, to repair the light did not work while our overnight stay, flushing the toilet did not work very well like in many hotels in UK

Review 6:Very nice view on the Thurso bay, breakfast, very easy check-in and check-out, big facilities re relaxing and living, quite big family room we get

Review 7:First morning took 15mins to get my breakfast order taken then had to leave for work before it arrived. Stuck with cereal from then on. Bed wasn't made well - top cover just put over without smoothing out bottom sheet which was all crumpled and untucked. Wifi didn't work in my room for 2 days of the 4. Perhaps minor things but having paid £105 per night wasn't what I expected.

Review 8:Comfortable bed. Spacious room. Large tv with good reception. Good views over the bay. On site parking. Easy to find and well located for onward travel.

Review 9:no problems at the weigh inn at all.

Review 10:Hotel overall was very good also food excellent, the staff were very helpful (special thanks to John behind the bar) making our business stay there a very pleasant one also to John the director who sat with us and spent time chatting and giving us knowledge of Thurso and the area. hopefully will return for a weekend break.

Review 11:Public areas could benfit from refurbishment as they were a bit tired. Food was served up to 9pm but kitchen staff had all left by 9.20 on the evening we stayed so if you had your main meal served just before 9 there was no one available to make dessert if customer required it perhaps the customers should be made aware of this when ordering.

Review 12:Good location, spectacular views. Bedroom comfortable and good size.

Review 13:The bed was a bit too firm for my liking.

Review 14:The scenery was amazing. The view from my room out to sea was breath-taking! My room was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and my evening meal (sirloin steak) was delicious.

Review 15:The restaurant needs great improvement! It really lets down what is a very nice hotel. Seats and carpets are in need of a good cleaning and stained seat covers should be replaced.

Review 16:The room was adequate, clean if a little cramped. Bathroom was clean and cosmetics were available along with tissues

Review 17:The bar didn't suit our eating requirements for both noise and cleanliness.

Review 18:The conservatory was lovely for breakfasts with views over Dunnet Head, the setting was excellent.

Review 19:Dreadful communications. Wi-Fi a nightmare. Decor out-dated. Menu and food distinctly average.

Review 20:Very convenient for work at major local plant. Big airy rooms. Lots of parking space. Clean and comfortable.

Review 21:Television went off on last day at 4pm and never came back on

Review 22:Location. View

Review 23:Good, comfortable room. Food was simple, but good in the restaurant. Very handy for the ferry port to Orkney.

Review 24:Friendly staff meals were excellent as on my previous visits

Review 25:Squeaky bed

Review 26:Great location

Review 27:No more than average breakfast

Review 28:Evening meal

Review 29:Dismal decor, uncomfortable bed, rather off-hand service, very basic considering the price we would have been happier in a b n b

Review 30:Lovely views

Review 31:No restuarant open in the evening

Review 32:The room The view from the room

Review 33:Basic dinner restaurant Younger staff somewhat indifferent Anonymous other than the view

Review 34:Location and views of Orkney Large comfortable room

Review 35:Not much maybe would benefit from some refurbishment in public areas

Review 36:Adjacent to port Good location Comfortable and clean

Review 37:Outside and public areas were grubby. Room was fine.

Review 38:The location.

Review 39:An excellent location lovely staff. bedrooms very comfortable. Would recommend and would stay again if in the area.

Review 40:Helpful staff. Food value for money.

Review 41:Uncomfortable bed

Review 42:Shower was hot but not very powerful, although this could have been after effects of the previous nights power cut

Review 43:Beautiful location, family room was very large, comfortable and well equipped. Staff were very helpful as the whole of northern Scotland had a power cut and they couldn't have been more accommodating during the outage.

Review 44:Meals stopped at 8:30pm and we were only minutes late and did not serve us so we had to go out and look for a takeaway. I would of thought if you pay £105 for room they would have accommodated our needs after having a long drive up North. First room that they gave us the noise of the wind was unreal although they did move us to another one with no complaints.

Review 45:Staff was very helpful. Room was clean.

Review 46:Smell of food/cooking throughout public rooms & hallways

Review 47:Friendly staff & good service Spectacular views of the Pentland Firth & Orkney Islands

Review 51:The hotel is only a short walk from Thurso or Scrabster harbour and has fantastic views looking across to the island of Hoy. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 52:After a long day of travelling, eating dinner in a quiet room would havebeen nice but bar staff exceptionally friendly, made up for it.

Review 53:First to arrive - given the bridal suite, no extra charge, can't be bad.

Review 54:Bridle bed was a bit hard and lumpy ,must of got a lot of use.

Review 55:Food very good staff very good as we turn up a day late they put us in the bridle suite.

Review 56:We had dinner . All was very nice except steaks were cooked on a dirty grill . As it spoiled the taste what would have been a very good steak .. A strong burnt taste probably should have put back to kitchen ....that apart all very good .

Review 57:We Stayed in De-Luxe Room which was very Large, and spacious my only quip was althought it was a King Size Bed, The Mattress was not comfy, I ended sleeping on top of the duvet to give me extra comfort, I felt all the springs in the mattress,

Review 58:Convenient for my Business Trip, easy to find,

Review 59:Grubby sports type bar area. Run down entrance area with a pervading smell of cooking

Review 60:Convenient for the Northlink ferry Good breakfast served by friendly staff

Review 61:The bed could be better, mainly the springs of the matress.

Review 62:A geat view to the ocean and to the lambs eating the herbs soon in the morning, till the sunset. The room was very large and confortable.

Review 63:we may have been unlucky but the receptionist both on arrival and next day on departure [same person] was not espcially welcoming [we had had a long journey] and gave the impression that the sooner we settled the bill and left the happier she would be. whilst rising from the office chair is not vital, it wuold have helped to indicate some measure of interest in our visit.

Review 64:everything was good except one - see below

Review 65:It took forever toget hot water in the bathroom. So much so that on the second day I didn'thave enogh time to have a proper shower.

Review 66:Friendly staff. Excellent Food.

Review 67:Staff were very friendly, great service and wide choice for breakfast, stayed in and ate at the bar on several evenings and value for money and standard of food ws exceptional, would have preferred to have been in dining room as conservatory just off the bar area where I had my meals was rather dimly lit and a bit cold but other than that really enjoyed my stay, would highly recommend and will certainly stay again

Review 70:The location which overlooked the harbour at Scrabster and the Orkney Isles also the service and great breakfast
