Reviews for Maleny Tropical Retreat

Review 1:The villas are all set apart for privacy so you feel very relaxed right from the start. It was so nice to sit outside on the deck on the large daybed with a book and wine looking at the beautiful view of the hinterland with kookaburras and other birds flying around. The rooms are very spacious, large comfortable king bed and nice double spa tub. How does it get any better than that.

Review 2:no crossant given to us for 3 breakie !!! they were very large and beautiful for first 2 breakies

Review 3:view from accommodation, fire in room (we don't have fires at home (mexico)

Review 4:Only tiny areas but still! Microwave tray greasy, oil bottle supplied covered in grease, Spray oil for bar-b-q empty, a glass was knocked and broke, son mentioned it to staff and they charged $5 - not good PR when all glasses were odds and could be replace from op shop for 20cents!!! We had NO view from our cabin, just a huge container to see!!!

Review 5:Malany/Monville are beautiful areas in the sunshine hinderland. This accommodation is extremely quite place to stay, no noisey people close by. Very private.

Review 6:Booked the old style villa but decided to upgrade as the new ones are far more superior and better views.

Review 7:Wonderful views, great facilities in the room, nice spa bath.

Review 8:we didn't like that we only had three days there we would have loved to stay longer!

Review 9:Ken and Dawn were extremely helpful and gracious hosts. The property is clean and very well maintained and the food was amazing

Review 10:Continental breakfast was basic but fresh and filling. No wifi in the villas.

Review 11:Staff were friendly, homely and welcoming. Surroundings were very tranquil with lovely views.

Review 12:Nothing really, the bed was a tiny bit hard but still slept well. I know it defeats the purpose of a rainforest retreat but, would be nice to have Foxtel (Rugby world cup was on).

Review 13:Location was fantastic, private creek was large and beautiful, lots of exploring possible. The dogs followed us all the way, hats off to the old dog he was a trooper. Don't know their names, to me it was Rambo and Baxter. The rooms were clean and very cosy, views spectacular.

Review 14:Everything was fabulous no complaints.

Review 15:It was a fantastic retreat. Felt very pampered. Maleny and Montville were delightful. Had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Review 16:Oldest Bungalow which was dirty and had chipped paint everywhere. Old dirty spa bath that was so noisy we didnt use it. Dirty skirting boards etc. It needs a good paint and clean. Definitely not worth the $239 we paid for one night but was still relaxing.

Review 17:Location Staff Food

Review 18:There were rodents in the roof area of the villa we stayed in. Just an unfortunate incident though it did keep us up all night. Apparently it will be fixed.

Review 19:The views, the spa, the privacy. The showers were amazing for a rural property. It was so serene.

Review 20:The view from our cabin was just amazing, as were the sunsets. The hosts really made us feel welcomed & we were upgraded to a bigger & more luxurious villa at no extra cost.Paying extra for a hot home cooked breakfast was fine as the meals were delicious. The animals & bird life in Montville was an added bonus. Our villa was just devine & so comfortable. We will definitely be returning back there :-)

Review 21:Honestly there was not much to not like, the only small complaint I would have is the storage for clothing, but once again a very minimal complaint

Review 22:How wellcomeing the hospitality was, the two big screen tv's with DVD players, and the overall great views and peaceful serenity, plus earnie the jack Russell was a great mate

Review 23:That the cute dog wasn't aloud in our room ;)

Review 24:The cabins were incredible - the views were amazing and having a full kitchen was a bonus. Ken and his sisters were so friendly and we planted a tree (for our honeymoon) on our last day which was a lovely tough. Very personable experience and would definitely return.

Review 25:Some of the kitchen items including the glasses & chopping board were dirty although we realise this was probably due to the previous occupants.

Review 26:Amazing views. Very relaxing atmosphere. Room facilities were good. Staff were lovely & very accomodating.

Review 27:The bed was too hard for me, and I ended up sleeping on top of three pillows. But my wife thought it was fine.

Review 28:The decor and surroundings, and friendly staff.

Review 29:Really enjoyed our time at this retreat. Only regret is that we didn't stay long enough. View was amazing and the retreat is in the perfect location.

Review 30:Was difficult to get in and out of parking space.

Review 31:The most wonderful place to stay - amazingly set out, breath-taking beauty, everything has been thought of! We were going to try a few bed and breakfasts around that area, but don't see any need to try another one now.

Review 32:Wifi was a little slow but really that's nothing negative in a place like so lovely.

Review 33:The personal touch with a warm welcome and the beautiful surroundings. Was nice not to be badgered but to be able to enquire if I needed but left to my peacefulness. A great place, spa was excellent so too was the open fire! Thanks.

Review 34:Sorry but all was awesome can't find anything negative. Unsure of wifi as we didn't want to be distributed.

Review 35:Loved the views that you see every day. So peaceful and relaxing . Loved the wood fireplace.

Review 36:A little disappointed that our room did not have access to the great views, however that would not deter us from coming back.

Review 37:The location was great, Ken and Dawn very friendly and helpful. Great fireplace and comfy room

Review 38:No complaints - even though it rained it was still beautiful.

Review 39:The location (a short drive from Maleny, Montville and the surrounding countryside. The warm and friendly way that Ken and Dawn made us feel welcome without being in "our space". Lovely breakfasts and the walk to the river.

Review 40:I did not get an answer to my initial enquiries when I made my booking and had to telephone them. I had to make up my own bed even though I had stipulated that we would need two beds. Car accommodation was good for a small car but would be very tight for a larger vehicle. Had to drive down to reception each morning for breakfast and also fill out a breakfast order each day & deliver to reception. Spa was in main room so good for romantic couples but not so much for friends sharing.

Review 41:It was located well between Montville (5mins) & Maleny (10mins). Hosts Ken and his sister Dawn were very friendly & helpful. Continental breakfast was excellent. Room was very clean & comfortable. Views were magnificent. Good car accommodation. Well appointed villa. Great choice of dvd's to watch for free from reception.

Review 42:Minimal clothes storage but wouldn't stop us going back

Review 43:Maleny Tropical Retreat has all you could want to kick back and relax. Charm and position abound. Everything well thought out. Brekkie was lovely as was the walk down to the river. King Spa blissfull and views with gorgeous sunrise and sunsets were excellent. A real delight. Cows grazing close by top the experience off !

Review 44:Didn't like leaving

Review 45:Half way between Maleny and Montville. Very private/cosy rooms and friendly staff. We are booking to come back again with our parents.

Review 46:While driving to the resort during torrential rain, we managed to reverse into a ditch. After attempts to contact RACQ failed, Kev came to our assistance and winched our car out. On finally arriving at the resort, a welcoming fire greeted us in our little cabin. That's service!

Review 47:The location high on the hill overlooking the rest of the property and the other villas with the view out to Lake Baroon was spectacular to say the least. the general ambiance of the property is most relaxing and peaceful.

Review 48:Bed a little uncomfortable but asolder travellers that is probably our bones and not the beds fault

Review 49:We booked a room but were offered an upgrade to a villa ,which we took and it had great view and was very comfortable

Review 50:This property is very beautiful and we enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodation was private and it felt like our own piece of paradise. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast amazing.

Review 51:Nothing bad about this retreat.

Review 52:The Bush setting & views were more than one could imagine. Hosts could do no more to please, they were great. Loved the separate cabin - it was so peaceful.

Review 53:Albeit we stayed in their oldest cabin but this could easily have been compensated with a few special extras. Living area was a bit cramped and general surrounds were messy and a tad ugly with old building materials lying around. A bit more tidiness, newer soft furnishings & a few special extras would have made it so much more pleasant.

Review 54:The location was good being midway between Makeny & Montville and close to local attractions. Staff were friendly but nothing exceptional. Room was adequate but again nothing exceptional considering the pricing charged.

Review 55:Would love if the cooked breakfast was included in the price. It was a little expensive which would probably stop me from going back in the near future.

Review 56:We live in Brisbane so was great to escape to the bush for a rest. Great that it is close to home, but feels like you are miles from anyway. It's a beautiful property and the older style cabin we stayed in was great.

Review 57:Did not realise had the older style cabin until arrival. Be aware when you are booking that you understand which accommodation you are actually getting.

Review 58:The accommodation had everything you needed. The bird life and the walk to the river were an added bonus. Breakfast was plentiful and we liked sharing the breakfast table with the other guests. The Balinese style furniture was great.

Review 59:it just needed a bottle opener!

Review 60:the view was stunning from the 'purple' house. So relaxing. Loved the double walk-in shower and the side by side spa bath! The day beds outside were a great idea.

Review 61:We loved our stay, the location was amazing, with a bush walk and a river you can swim in! Our accomodation was comfortable and clean. Dawn was an amazing host, their dog Ernie was so cute and the breakfasts were delicious! Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend staying here.

Review 62:would be perfect to have breakfast in the cottage.

Review 63:great hosts, view, beautiful cottage, amazing layout, nice gift at the end of our stay thanks to the lovely hosts would love to come back, unforgettable stay

Review 64:Bali lounge my husband found it uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. Extra charge for hot breakfast. Had to drive to shops

Review 65:View was fabulous. Luxurious facilities and spa Friendly accommodating owners Peace and quiet Watching the cows and just born calf. Watching the mist in the morning over lake Baroon

Review 66:The location and style of accommodation were fantastic. I drive a truck for a living and I spend a lot of time on the road. This place is so peaceful I had the best rest I have had in ages.

Review 67:We stayed in the Seminyak Villa on the weekend and it was true luxury! It was simply perfect! The view, the location, the fire place, the spa and the amazing bed can't be beaten. We are both well travelled and it was the by far the most amazing place either of us have ever stayed. It was truly the best weekend away!

Review 68:Might have been nice to have some candles or torches during the black out as back up.

Review 69:Privacy of the villa. The fireplace kept us warm and provided light during the (Power out). A spectacular view to wake up to. Friendly and helpful staff. The Jacuzzi!

Review 70:nothing to not like

Review 71:The Bali hut we stayed in was beautiful, beautiful views, great double spa, bed very comfy, everything was really set out well and it was a wonderful experience. Ken and his sister Dawn were just gorgeous, lovely people, very helpful and breakfast each morning was amazing, plenty of food and beautifully cooked. My husband Rob especially loved Ken's Lamb's Fry :)

Review 72:Come prepared with your own coffee, milk etc...there isn't much on arrival. A teatowel would have been handy. An extra throw rug or two to wrap around ones' self if one feels like sitting outside in the cool morning to watch the sun come up. We stayed in the purple house...was lovely first night as we had the whole thing to ourselves, but on night 2, as the house can be booked either for 2 couples or 2 separate parties, a second couple came in and the soundproofing isn't that great.

Review 73:Ken is a great host...very attentive. The view and the setting The Day bed on the verandah Double shower head and double spa with lots of hot water Very comfortable Lovely towels Decent sized coffee mugs Beautiful breakfast

Review 74:The whole Maleny Retreat experience was fabulous. We occupied two villas for six nights and the location, accommodation and facilities offered were exceptionally good. This combined with the warmth and friendliness of the family enterprise running this amenity made it a beautiful and memorable stay..

Review 75:We were very kindly upgraded to villa during our stay. It was the mostly relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The villas are beautiful and all the little added extras make this a wonderful place to stay.

Review 76:Rooms attached to main house were outdated and property needs cleaning up around main house. Showers had shower curtains - a real turn off in my books. Website can be misleading as it may appear when you book that you are staying in a private cabin when in fact you are staying ina room attached to the house. Staff are not as polished or professional as other establishments we have stayed in.

Review 77:promised croissants for breakfast, only had ordinary toast! long steep walk to common area, but with the views I guess you have to have a hill.

Review 78:little touches like comfy bed and variety of wine glasses

Review 79:Didn't like having to come home....

Review 80:Loved the peaceful tranquility of the property.
