Reviews for The Telford Whitehouse Hotel
Review 1:We had to move rooms in the middle of the night as our room had a connecting door and the room next to ours had a party. We also know that one of our party checked in the day after us and we were given the key mistakenly. This person entered our room and noticed that is was occupied. We informed the manager but we never heard anything back. A little worrying..
Review 2:The hotel was ok if a little noisy
Review 3:The location of my room (number 2). It was right underneath a walk way and could hear lots of banging until late and then from very early. For a light sleeper it was very annoying.
Review 4:Fab staff. Reopened the bar for our large group at gone 11pm. Thank you.
Review 5:We got a bit confused when we arrived, couldn't see entrance to reception.
Review 6:Friendly staff, cleanliness and the breakfast was superb, best sausages ever.
Review 7:The uncomfortable bed meant not much sleep, food was limited in the resturant as they were not expecting alot of people to eat in there!
Review 8:Rooms clean and tidy, breakfast hot and plenty of it.The young guy working in the bar was very good, it was his first day I feel he will be an asset to the hotel
Review 9:A few issues with the room, lights and entry, the pool spa & steam room and sauna no children allowed. However the staff dealt with the room promptly.
Review 10:Good facilities and the staff went out of their way to deal with children with difficult dietary needs. A family friendly environment, the staff dealt with our complaints very quickly. So 10/10 for effort and facilities
Review 11:We booked a family room to find only 1 bed, staff didn't have a clue what they were doing next room only had 1 bed too, after 3rd visit to reception they opened a connecting door but rooms were disabled rooms so had to shave on my knees. We paid upfront for evening meal and they tried to charge again on check out. again staff had no idea what to say or do Please be careful or it will cost you a he'll of a lot more than it should
Review 12:The food and pool was nice
Review 13:Nothing at all.
Review 14:Everything and that is rare to say about a hotel but l am being totally honest. The staff were so friendly and help us as we were disabled, taking Sam or Westie for regular walks; more importantly everyone thinks a hard to medium bed is bed for injured spines and arthritis. I specifically needed the opposite and had a lovely soft bed, great sleep, hospitality and would not hesitate to return. Thankyou for a great stay. Maggie, Berni & Sam xxx
Review 15:Staff lovely. Family of 5, booked two rooms but separate and Lucy organised adjoining rooms. Restaurant was opened half an hour early for a family meal for 11.
Review 16:There was nothing to fault.
Review 17:Friendly helpful staff. We arrived early (to support Lowestoft Town FC) but although naturally our room wasn't ready, were able to book in. We went to our room after visiting the Railway Inn to meet with some Telford United supporters so that Shirley could get ready to take photographs of the match. The hotel is ideally placed beside the New Bucks Head stadium. The room was perfect.
Review 18:Room hadn't been cleaned so went to the reception and were given another room, which was supposed to be an upgrade, it was exactly the same!! Toilet didn't flush in the new one, which wasn't a problem initially as we went straight out, however it was after a night out!!
Review 19:The staff on reception was good and gave us a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience of having to change rooms. Lovely breakfast.
Review 20:The window did not close properly so it was draughty and, as the room faced a main road, noisy. The window and sill were dirty, the curtains were not anchored at the ends and were inadequate to keep out the light from the streetlight outside the window. View outside window was of a derelict building and a builder's yard.
Review 21:The staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast was good.
Review 22:Room could do with more power points. Breakfast quite basic. Bar was limited and overpriced.
Review 23:Friendly staff, good value for money (at the rate we got). Room and bathroom were both very clean and surprisingly spacious. Plenty of parking.
Review 24:First room hadn't been cleaned properly , moved to another which was better . Basic accommodation , hotel very dated , in general needs a good clean. Isn't a four star I would rate it as a budget hotel , premier inn is far better .
Review 25:The Restaurant was very poor, expensive food and not very good. Same " specials" 2 days in a row, and the bar did not have wine coolers
Review 26:Spacious room with everything required
Review 27:Paperthin walls. We moved rooms at 11 pm from paper thin walls to another room with paper thin walls in the ensuite and paper thin ceiling
Review 28:Everything bar the noise. Clean, tidy, good amenities, good road links, excellent staff BUT paper thin walls
Review 29:Room 116 window did not close properly, window ledge full of dust! Standing lampshade all marked looked dirty, room basic for almost £90 and could do with a refurb, no valances on beds, only 1 bath towel in bathroom for a family of 4 and 1 hand towel! View of building material yard from window!!!
Review 30:Half consumed cakes in bedside drawers along with several pieces of ladies underwear......where are the cleaners?
Review 31:Friendly staff, good sized room, good free wifi
Review 32:Small beds in twin room. Uninspiring decor. Poor sound insulation through double glazing. Smokey smell through ventilation system in bathroom.
Review 33:Friendly staff. Free use of pool and steam room etc.
Review 34:We didn't like or appreciate the extortionate high high price of the drinks a total utter rip off and will never go again because of that was thinking of a family get together of 20 family members at Christmas but that has changed our minds
Review 35:My partner and myself enjoyed the gym and relaxation of the spa the most
Review 36:The bar was very small and limited and closed at 11.00 whereas most bars in hotels stay open as long as required. We were knocked at 8.00am with cleaners wanting to clean room whereas we were just going for breakfast
Review 37:I could not use the bath or shower on the first morning as the taps would not work properly. Steve the maintenance man was delightful and tried to fix it there and then but could not and promised to come back in the day which he did whilst I was at conference. Unfortunately the next morning the temperature could not be controlled and only had piping hot water which was too hot to shower under. I had to be at my meeting very early so,could not wait for this to be fixed. Very unsatisfactory.
Review 38:The staff were very pleasant and polite
Review 39:Greeting from Reception, very unprofessional, unwelcoming. Got to room, nearly got locked in bathroom as door knob faulty, then realised had about 6 sheets of toilet paper only, no fresh toilet rolls at all, phoned down to reception, felt like they were accusing us of lieing, finally arrived with one, 1 hour later, longest toilet sitting ever! Totally overpaid, breakfast not even included, and there is no way I would rate this above a 3. Very disappointing, will not be returning. We were well and truly ripped off!!!
Review 40:Not a lot, very dissatisfied...
Review 41:There wasn't anything I didn't like.
Review 42:I liked the restaurant. They did lovely food. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi was excellent and relaxing.
Review 43:That you had to pay an extra £20.00 for breakfast for two people where Wetherspoons which isn't that far away was charging a fraction of that price .
Review 44:That it was clean and relaxed without any restrictions. Lovely comfortable bed.
Review 45:sound proofing to corridor poor so lots of corridor noise all through the night.
Review 46:staff were very helpful over my dietary restraints at breakfast good size room.
Review 47:Not very clean bathroom black hair on the sink and bath. Receptionist not too welcoming (a guy)at the end didn't ask how was stay and etc.had chewing gum when speaking to us-not very professional.
Review 48:We liked the room was big and very comfortable bed.nice breakfast staff nice in restaurant.
Review 49:Restaurant food a bit pricey. Breakfast wasn't fantastic - scrambled eggs eeeaaargh.
Review 50:Room away from the road was surprisingly quiet. Pool and Jacuzzi nice feature
Review 51:The sound proofing of the windows in the bedrooms is poor. You can hear the traffic outside as if the window was opened slightly. If I was having an early night here, in midweek this would have presented more of a problem. Breakfast was OK... for £10pp I would have expected better or at least on a par to Premier Inn breakfasts which is always good or you get your money back. FYI there is a Brewers fair just 3 minutes drive from this hotel... if I was to stay here again I would eat breakfast there for less than half the price and it would be similar quality I'm sure. Music in the brasserie for a Sunday morning was inappropriate. Easy listening would be more appreciated than head thumping club tunes.
Review 52:Overall the hotel was fine. Hairdryer, iron, drinks making facilities and good TV in room which is handy and pushed the facilities score up for me. Good sized room with modern bathroom. My colleagues informed me that the spa and swimming pool were nice.
Review 53:Checked out of the hotel stupidly early Sunday morning ( before 7am) due to being awake most the night because of the road noise outside our room.to top it off , the mixer tap on the shower was broken and the water that came out of the shower was scalding hot , leaving my friend to leap out of the shower !
Review 54:Dirty pillow case, took ages to check in and the key wouldn't work twice! So kept having to go back to reception, all in all took around 30-45mins to get into our room!
Review 55:Room was good size and leisure facilities were good
Review 56:It was a cosy hotel and the staff were so polite and so friendly. I accidentally slept over my alarm and they were so understanding. Will be returning to this hotel.
Review 57:my pet hate are the pillows in most hotels, too thin and should be replaced on a more regular basis But his is a constructive critique
Review 58:comfortable with friendly staff, excellent breakfast with a good evening menu as well Great view of the Telford FC pitch from the restaurant. Very handy for the Exhibition at the International Centre
Review 59:Well built modern hotel with all the usual facilities and nice clean and comfortable rooms of ample size. The staff were very helpful and friendly. At the price we paid it was very good value for money although we won't be staying there this year as the price is almost THREE times the price we paid. This is too dear, I'm afraid.
Review 60:We had evening meal in attached restaurant and my wife's meal had to be returned, it was chicken and when cut exposed uncooked meat and blood. Totally off putting as was staff effort in recovering situation.
Review 61:Location was OK for the purpose however the hotel is isolated from bars and eating places if walking. Hotel staff were helpful and pleasant.
Review 62:It was very suitable for what we needed so nip thing we didn't like
Review 63:Polite staff and particularly liked the view over the pitch when having breakfast
Review 64:road side room , sink to small for purpose and a note for maintenance extractor fan not working
Review 65:We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful, breakfast was very good
Review 66:noisy road meant window needed to stay closed and room very stuffy as a result, only got 2 hours sleep - make sure you ask for a room that isn't on the roadside.
Review 67:Good breakfast
Review 68:There is absolutely nothing to dislike about The Telford Whitehouse Hotel.
Review 69:Staff, Cleanliness, Decor. I have stayed at hotels all over the country but none of them were anywhere as good as this one.
Review 70:Very difficult to locate hotel! Bath needs a bathmat, it is VERY slippery!
Review 71:Great welcome from receptionist. Good bar and restaurant facility. Good breakfast, staff helpful.
Review 72:hot water jammed on in shower nearly scalded myself when using, reported to reception on leaving
Review 73:very good value shame about today price way too high when checked on booking .com
Review 74:Easy to find, easy drop off/pick up, lots of information about local area and places to visit, very friendly staff, easy to access the rooms and a very easy booking in/out system.
Review 75:Wine list was very limited and expensive for what was only table wine.
Review 76:Great Internet rate on booking.com and GBP20 upgrade for excellent three course dinner! Restaurant was very good
Review 77:The room was adjacent to the road and was noisy, also neighbouring rooms were noisy well into the night.ie until 3 am
Review 78:We were re-allocated to a quieter room for the second night and sleep was achievable.Much better
Review 79:The food quality has been declining over the years and was particularly poor this year
Review 80:We have stayed at this hotel for the past 5 years - The rooms are comfortable and there is good car parking nearby
Review 81:The meals were poor and portions very small. Having stayed there for the past 5 years to attend an annual convention, I can say that the standard of catering has fallen considerably. The breakfasts were excellent in the past but have now sadly declined
Review 82:The rooms are comfortable but the bedding is poor. Too few pillows of poor quality provided. There is a reasonable choice of menu but the food was disappointingly poor this year
Review 83:Toilet door locked when closed therefore unable to close toilet door Asked on a few occasions for extra glasses in room as only one provided, however this was not provided. The bar staff were more than happy to provide them when asked.
Review 84:the leisure facilities the food provided for breakfast and dinner was very good
Review 85:A lot of noise after mid night, for several hours from the room next door on the second evening. Not the type of noise/language a 11 year old should be subjected to!
Review 86:If we stayed again, would request a room at the rear because of traffic noise. However, we accept there is little you can do about this.
Review 87:Staff very efficient and helpful. Hotel clean, Breakfast good.
Review 88:stayed here for 2nights, and my door lock get broken, couldn't enter my room. Had to ho downstairs to change a key 5times but didn't work, then had to wait for them to them to fix it but same thing happend again. Staff wasn't friendly, no sorry nothing.
Review 89:Nice big room, comfortable bed
Review 90:Ate in restaurent on the two evenings, meals were lovely but a long time coming, fine for adults, but children getting restless.
Review 91:Location, friendly helpful staff, cleanliness and facilities were good with ability to use leisure club next door.
Review 92:The room was fresh and clean, loved the pool and breakfast with a view, overall probably the best hotel we stayed in all week, would definitely go there again.
Review 93:Dirty grout in bathroom Quirky bathroom fittings Slow dinner service
Review 94:Good breakfast Handy location for Ironbridge,Severn Valley Railway Great desserts at dinner, interesting soups
Review 95:Room needs a little bit of maintenance
Review 96:Great location. Lovely pool with steam and sauna. Reasonably quiet when we were there. Suited our requirements well and good value.
Review 97:Large comfortable room, staff very helpful. Good centre for visiting Shropshire, with good communications and parking, although position itself not attractive.
Review 98:I think the hotel is too pricey for what you are given, my partner & I had two drinks from the bar, charging us £9.60 we also always have food in hotels that we stay and to see that a steak from the menu in the room was £21.00 and that's without room service charge! The room was clean, seems you pay for the space more than the room.
Review 99:Bed was a comfort bed
Review 100:The toiley had a big bunch of hair in the bowl and the bath had all black mould all round it a good soaking with some bleach would probably cure that.
Review 101:Food was excellent as were staff.
Review 102:Our request for a room close to the lift was fulfilled. The decor. appearance and comfort of the room to a high standard. We had one excellent meal and Ted the waiter/barman was extremely courteous and efficient. Thanks!
Review 103:We stayed at the hotel on a saturday, and as such you would expect a certain amount of noise late in the evening, however the levels and the type of noise in the hotel on this occasion were ridiculous. Loud bedroom doors opening and closing constantly until after 2am, starting again before 5am. Loud conversations in the hallway and walls so thin that every noise our neighbours made was clearly audible through either the thin wall, or the inter-connecting door (the existence of which in itself is a negative). An attempt to drown out the racket by turning up the TV was foiled by the almost total lack of any tunable channels. After a follow-up attempt to use traffic noise from outside, in the end we opted for another hour's sleep in the car as opposed to the frustration of trying to rest in the room. These types of issues (room allocation strategies aside) are not the fault of the staff, but the design of the hotel does not cater for a restful night unless you are either lucky enough to be next to someone who keeps normal hours, or you're the world's heaviest sleeper.
Review 104:The staff were polite and friendly at check-in, keeping their composure despite being lambasted by another guest at the time over a lack of towels in a room. There is plenty of parking at the hotel and the rooms are very spacious, if bordering on sparse. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
Review 105:Over priced for what it was, staff behind the bar looked miserable, and seemed very reluctant to help when asked.
Review 106:Food was good but over priced, nice enough rooms and comfortable.
Review 107:Reception not good enough tacky Resteraunt more like a works canteen Worse breakfast I have ever had in a hotel no choice on continental breakfast table next to nothing Coffee tea had to be asked for not very good waited ten minutes to arrive English breakfast very 2nd rate not good quality staff in hotel ok
Review 108:Room ok but dusty Liked walking away after an abismal breakfast
Review 109:The only complaint was that the rooms were too hot even with the windows as open as you could get them.
Review 110:We had a total of three rooms booked for family, all three rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Service by staff was excellent as were two full breakfasts that we all had. we are certainly looking to book and come again, as it was a wedding we did not take advantage of the fantastic leisure facilities available. We will next time.
Review 111:The rooms were sooooo hot! No aircon and no fans...we had to go out and buy 1 as did the rest of us staying there...about 40 people we knew staying there also had to buy a fan....
Review 112:Dinner when it eventually arrived.
Review 113:We didn't have breakfast as we felt this was too pricey and we had to ask for more milk , tea bags , etc in the room as only supplied with 2 items when it was a family room.
Review 114:The comfort of hotel and swimming facilities.
Review 115:Good sized room with good lighting and everything you might need including ironing gear, hairdryer, fridge. Bathroom with good shower & bath. Bed & pillows soft enough. V. quiet. Food nicely cooked and presented. Staff unfailingly helpful.
Review 116:Ordered a double room but got a twin. Awful shower curtain that sticks to you constantly. Waited over 20 mins for a beer. Some menu options unavailable. Chicken extremely tough and no bacon in bap as listed in menu. Small portions. No fresh strawberries in Eaton Mess sundae as listed, but cream added when not.
Review 117:Great selection for breakfast, although didn't have a cooked breakfast. Friendly waitresses in restaurant. Use of leisure facilities and use of car park for day after check out
Review 118:It did get very hot in the room during the night and there was no air conditioning
Review 119:We were impressed with how large the room was Comfortable sofa bed Good breakfast and great view over the pitch from the restaurant
Review 120:I never leave reviews but this one is deserved. I can not fault the stay we had. Staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and really good value and to top it off the breakfast was brilliant :)
Review 121:Street level - touching pavement - noisy therefore. Disabled room - so sink at knee level Booked a single room and it was a twin (2 single bed)
Review 122:The shower was good
Review 123:The only thing we struggled with was the traffic noise as we had a road side room, though to be fair i personally did not hear it ,unfortunately my wife is a light sleeper and was disturbed a few times.
Review 124:clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast with every taste catered for
Review 125:Could have been more staff around the bar area. We were part of a party and had to go looking for someone to serve drinks after Dinner. The bar was obviously busy but no one appeared after 10 mins. Just a minor point. Everything else was good.
Review 126:Easy access to everything, plenty of room, and appeared to be modern and clean throughout.
Review 127:Was charged a cancellation despite the fact I hadn't cancelled and was infact already at the hotel for a night. This was resolved though and money returned
Review 128:Comfortable, good facilities and serves good food in the restaurant.
Review 129:Internal door in room 211 lets room 210's telly noise though which was a pain.
Review 130:Everything was clean and tidy. Towels changed each morning and plenty of hot water.
Review 131:Booked 2 rooms, a double & a family room. The family room included a 4 year old, the 2nd bed had not been made up, it took 2 phone calls to reception to sort
Review 132:Bar sofas and chairs a little tatty and needs to be replaced
Review 133:Booked to attend a family party near by and I was not expecting much for such a good price. How wrong was I, Our room was lovely, very clean, comfy beds and spacious. The hotel itself and common areas were well presented, the bar chairs and sofas were leather and showed sign of wear but the service and friendly staff detracted from that. Breakfast was well worth the price. Book at reception for a better deal, tasty, hot and plentyful. I have stayed in far more expensive hotels for a lot less service and comfort than this place had to offer. Very well done management team your staff are exceptional
Review 134:The front/road facing room we had this time (we've previously had a rear facing room) was very noisy - traffic & late night people noise. It didn't quieten down till after 1am
Review 135:Good value, helpful staff, clean & comfortable rooms
The Fine Print
