Reviews for Avola Antica

Review 1:The room equipment is rather basic but enough comfortable. There is no window in the room - only in the door, so if you need a fresh air the door sould be opened. The patio is common for all rooms - no privacy

Review 2:Nice place, good (italian) breakfast, fantastic waterpool with a nice view of sea, clean room, good dinner at place

Review 3:Negotiating the narrow roads and multiple hairpin bends to drive to the top of the escarpment where Avola Antica is situated is not for the faint-hearted. We found the beds rather un-forgiving. Neither of these things would stop us whole-heartedly recommending though.

Review 4:An amazing location perched on the edge of the escarpment overlooking Avola and the coast. Far-reaching views to the east and south. The swimming pool is of excellent quality and size. Particular praise for the evening meals - a consistently high standard and great value.

Review 5:At a push I would say the rooms are a little small.

Review 6:The location is spectacular away from the hustle and bustle but close enough. Incredible food at supper and very friendly staff. The swimming pool is one of the most beautiful I have seen.

Review 7:Rooms need more natural ventilation during night become muggy require air con Wifi limited to main building Problem with wasps no traps persistent and annoying

Review 8:Amazing location wonderful outlook Good breakfast and evening meals Very clean pool Nice staff

Review 9:The door is also the window. There is no separate window

Review 10:The dinner was very very good in the hotel. Also the pool was very nice and the fig tree has always fresh fruits for you!

Review 11:Both the best and worst things about this property are its location. The sweeping views across the landscape and along the coast are truly spectacular, especially at night. However, it is remote and requires a 25 minute drive to reach either Avola or Noto, the latter with a fantastic choice of restaurants. We did eat at the on-site restaurant once but prefer to have a choice, so drove to Noto. So far as the hotel goes, the pool is lovely. The bedrooms are compact but quiet. The staff were tied up with a birthday lunch for a large party when we arrived so we didn't feel especially welcomed but they made up for it with their solicitousness and friendliness after that.

Review 12:Wifi signal was very weak

Review 13:The location is in the middle of nowhere....perfect for a relaxing holiday. The food was exellent and abundant. I recomened this agritourism to anyone who wants to spend a couple of days relaxing in the middle of nature.

Review 14:Small room could be a drawback for some people.

Review 15:Very friendly and helpful staff. The views over Avola and the coastline are fantastic. The pool is very nice set in a relaxing quiet area. The highlight is the food, every night they provide excellent, well prepared Sicilian cuisine. We will return if back in the same area again.

Review 16:Sadly, the pool was ready when I arrived and when it became ready, it was too cold to use.

Review 17:I liked the location as it was quiet, rural and had fantastic views. I liked the staff who were very friendly and welcoming. I liked the food that was excellent

Review 18:Nothing.

Review 19:Everything, especially the food, both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We also enjoyed the pool but we're disappointed that the day was quite misty & so we missed the great views. Would have loved to stay a second night but they were full. We will return.

Review 20:It's a steep trip up the mountain.

Review 21:Located on top of a mountain the view of this place is magnificent. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable. The pool is clean with comfy beds if you want to relax and enjoy the view. The restaurant is a must if you want to experience the Sicilian kitchen.

Review 22:Rooms do not have a window (although there is a big glass door). Quite hard to find from Avola (worth locating the hotel on google maps before travelling).

Review 23:Wonderful pool, great home cooking, fabulous views and a very warm welcome from the thoughtful owner. Great for chilling out.

Review 24:The rooms were a little small so if you had more than a small carry on bag each there would have been trouble putting it in a place out of the way. We had dinner there the first night and everyone was seated at 8:30 pm. Dinner in the form of various pizzas finally arrived buffet style at 9:20pm. There was no salad and the only choice of non alcoholic drink was water or coke - no juices or other soft drinks were offered. Dessert was pana cotta - no choice. A couple of the other guests complained and were given ice cream. Coffee was only offered to a couple of guests. For that we paid 20 euros each. Quit expensive considering the average price of a pizza eksewhere is around 8 euros. The next night we had dinner elsewhere with a choice of entrees, mains and desserts as well as beverages and our meal was only 35 euros for the two of us which included bread and a cover charge. There are other agrotourism places to stay in the area which are probsbly better value.

Review 25:The location was spectacular and the views were fabulous The swimming pool was great.

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:Lovely pool with wonderful views over the coast, very comfortable rooms and attentive helpful staff. We ate in every evening and the standard of the food was great.

Review 28:Fabulous location, with beautiful grounds and swimming pool. Food was very good, staff were friendly and helpful. One of the loveliest places we have ever stayed.

Review 29:nothing

Review 30:Very nice view, 500 meters above sea level, The affable owner, The GREAT and varied dinner!

Review 31:Quiet place, friendly staff, excellent food, amazing view , big swimming pool.

Review 32:The view is fabulous, the swimming pool is great.

Review 33:Long drive up mountain road to get there. But it is worth it

Review 34:Awesome food , great pool and amazing view

Review 35:The only window is in the door but can be understood in the hot summer of Sicily

Review 36:wonderful view and quiet position

Review 37:Long windy road up from the coast

Review 38:Views Access to Cava Grande Swimming Pool Restaurant

Review 39:The room was a bit small

Review 40:The food, the peaceful ambience and the owner who was warm and friendly

Review 41:wonderful location, very good food

Review 42:Room soundproofing can be improved.

Review 43:1) The location at the top of a hill with great views over the coast (perfect for those who are looking for a quiet place to relax). 2) The kindness of the owners 3) The food served at dinner was delicious.

Review 44:Very small rooms and shower but you come here for the views, food, and hiking and to get away from a confined area.

Review 45:Country setting, the cuisine local of Signora Piera and she goes out of her way to welcome everyone! The AC actually works here! You meet great sweet people here. The pool is peaceful as are the views. Great wine selection from all of Sicily. the FOOD!!!!

Review 46:Evening meal delicious and so much to eat! Breakfast very good with home-made jam and cakes etc. Staff very helpful. Location magnificent with wonderful views, peace and birdsong.

Review 47:Nothing particular, as our ambition was to explore the SE coastline it was a bit annoying to drive 20 minutes up and down everyday.

Review 48:Staff was very friendly, food was absolutely amazing with a 4-course meal included everyday. Takes about 20 min to drive down to the coast but it's worth it as you'll get an amazing view over the coast line.

Review 49:The rooms however are relatively small and, more important, doesn’t have a window to open, making it a muggy night.

Review 50:What a wonderful location. High up the hills, fantastic views. Also the turismo has a terrific garden and a fabulous looking swimming pool. We arrived at Sunday-lunch time and it was a wonderful lunch in the garden. Tasted delicious. This was continued at other dinner-times in the next days: surprising, typical food, albeit a bit fast. All-in all worth while staying: the fabulous view, the turismo and the food beat the room.

Review 51:Very difficult to find with our rental car - up a very steep, windymountain road, hence not for any faint-hearted, hesitant drivers. Wewere lucky we accidentally met another couple (also staying at theTurismo Rurale) on our way up this road whilst stopping to admire thescenery - we then tailed them to the B&B. At the hotel, the staffwere very polite and courteous but language skills could have been a bitbetter to communicate with guests properly (even a little bit of basic'hospitality' English, Spanish or German could have made a bigdifference, although I believe the owner did speak a bit of French). Inaddition, it stated on our internet booking confirmation that we couldcheck out up until 1pm. However, either intentionally or unintentionally(I believe the former), the water in our room was turned off at around12pm, preventing us from quickly showering or going to the toilet beforedeparting. I felt this to be somewhat rude and it left a bitter taste inthe mouth, bearing in mind how much we had paid for our stay.

Review 52:Amazing view of the coast from the hills, polite service and a quietlocation with a great swimming pool. The evening meal that we had onour first evening was top class cuisine although we were not told whatwe were going to eat beforehand. I guess if you are a vegetarian orvegan a few things would have to be clarified before you decided to eatdinner there.

Review 53:room a little small staff are friendly and helpful but only speak Italian and so potentially difficult to communicate/get local guidance if you don't speak the language

Review 54:stunning views great food lovely pool very relaxing comfy bed

Review 55:The bedroom was a little dark and the bathroom was also rather small.

Review 56:The location, peace and quiet together with the stunning views and very friendly staff. The swimming pool area was lovely.

Review 57:smallness of rooms; no drawers for clothes; little hanging space; awkward drive to main highway

Review 58:swimming pool; scenic views; quiet; pleasant management; wine included in price of meals.

Review 59:Lack of any kind of information in the room. If staying for a meal no option to pay for fewer courses. No menu up in morning to help you decide if you want to stay for supper. No glasses in room and no mini bar as advertised.

Review 60:All of the staff were extremely helpful even if we struggled with language. Very clean. Wonderful location. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely food, but too much.

Review 61:The one drawback we felt was the fact that on a particular day, the place was opened up to a group of rowdy day trippers who took complete possession of the pool area to the annoyance and detriment of paying residents....this completely ruined the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the place and felt like we were displaced in favour of this 30-odd group of day trippers.

Review 62:The setting and location of the place are absolutely fantastic. the food that is all prepared on site is delicious and there is truly a home atmosphere that makes one feel immediately destressed and at peace.

Review 63:Relaxed atmosphere Friendly staff Great food

Review 64:room a bit small

Review 65:view is fantastic, dinner great, pool great
