Reviews for Buckatree Hall Hotel
Review 1:great difficulty parking, had to wait half an hour for space. Toilets in downstairs reception had not been cleaned (Sunday 10.15am). Unprofessional bar staff. awful smell in the downstairs bar. Cobwebs in the bedroom and ripped sheets.
Review 2:comfy beds.
Review 3:everything was perfect cant understand how some people gave it a poor rating we will definately be returning. couldnt seem to get wifi was going to ask staff but didnt have time.
Review 4:friendly,clean with great food, comfortable bed and great room with balcony and view. breakfast was very good and meal in resteraunt was exeptionally good friendly bar with relaxing atmosphere
Review 5:The wifi in our room was useless.
Review 6:The room was comfortable, overlooking the lake, the staff were friendly and attentive and the hotel was clean and warm.
Review 7:The dinner charge was a rip off I was given the set xmas menu which was £19.99 but was still charged £24.50 for each night.
Review 8:Room was lovely and the staff could not have been nicer very dog friendly, The food was nice would use hotel again
Review 9:I booked two rooms but the hotel only had confirmation for one room. Ifthey had been busy it would have been a problem. Staffing levels verylow, obviously to save cost.
Review 10:Location
Review 11:At 9am a cleaner entered my room without knocking. Turned the lights on and when I said excused me,she gave her apologies and left leaving the lights on.
Review 12:Friendly staff at reception. Location. And had a beautiful view
Review 13:Not a bad experience but we thought the restaurant could do with a bit of softening - pictures , plants ? It was a bit sparse .
Review 14:Very good location and very comfortable . Room with balcony overlooking (small ) lake really nice .
Review 15:The rooms radiator must only come on by a timer set by the hotel. I don't sleep too good because I was too cold.
Review 16:Where it is situated is lovely. Telford isn't the best of places so it was nice to feel like you were in the country side. Really looks the part. The food was unreal as well.
Review 17:Beautiful hotel in idealic location. All staff friendly & very attentive! A fabulous nights sleep, bed is exceptionally comfortable. Slight hic-up with our room service order but was swiftly rectified & staff very apologetic. Very surprised when checking out to find we hadn't been charged for our meal due to the confusion & inconvenience caused. Totally unexpected as would of been happy to pay, a lovely gesture. Would recommend this hotel to anyone & we will definitely be returning in the future! Also serve an excellent breakfast
Review 18:Unfortunately we were in what appeared to be a joined room by means of a doorway. We found the noise from this room to be an issue so would recommend sound proofing.
Review 19:Really welcoming staff couldn't be more helpful.
Review 20:Breakfast served too late for me at the weekend, I needed to leave at 7.30. Bed was comfortable but quilt was very heavy!
Review 21:Country location, yet just a few minutes drive from central Telford.
Review 22:The down side is it offers room service and lunch time menus, how ever they didn't do lunch on both occasions I have been. Which has been a disappointment. Seems I'm not from the area it would have been easy for me to eat in but I had to go out for lunch so disappointed when they offer it but don't do it. My room was also next to a service room or laundry room and staff were constantly in and out which made it noisy most of the time.
Review 23:Overall this hotel is lovely and the staff are always very welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are lovely and the location of the hotel is quiet and picturesque. I also had a problem with dogs on this visit which they were continually barking all day and night. I did eventually ring the staff and they were straight on the problem within minutes! Great staff
Review 24:broken biscuit crumbs between bed and desk not hovered. cobwebs on light fitting over the bed.
Review 25:staff always friendly. Nice location. Usually clean - see next comments.
Review 26:There was a wedding party that went on all night. No apologies from the staff. Also room was only cleaned once during 5 day stay.
Review 27:Location was very dog friendly
Review 28:Met up here with our daughter and 16 month old grandchild. Great location and good food, staff in restaurant especially helpful. Recommended, we will stay there again.
Review 29:I had booked 5 rooms for a business trip. When my party arrived we were told that I had only booked 4, when I showed proof of reservation they claimed it must have been booking.com that got it wrong and they were full. I had to share a substandard room with a colleague and we found out next morning that they had asked someone else to double up with a colleague 2 hours before we arrived, so they knew all along that they had overbooked. Not cleaver lying to me, I had to ask for a reduction in the bill to compensate, they didn't offer.
Review 30:WiFi is almost non existant in rooms, better in public areas. Bar/lounge area is pleasant enough, but very dark and needs updating. Unfortunately for us our room was missed out for servicing (we stayed 2 nights) and we had to complain. Breakfast is adequate, but limited choice. Caters for large coach parties staying and staff seemed very rushed trying to deal with the numbers.
Review 31:Nice hotel in lovely area, very clean with pleasant staff. Food was ok. Room was large and comfortable.
Review 32:Location of our room on top floor didn't take into account elderly aunt's difficulty with stairs (that was listed in booking) and no lift at that end of the building made transferring luggage unwieldy.
Review 33:Hotel very dog friendly, exceptionally friendly helpful staff, meals were excellent, room service and maid service very good.
Review 34:The room I booked was a double but arrived and was allocated a twin not overly a problem but, booked through booking.com an a bed and breakfast deal and was charged for the breakfast adding £21.00 to the bill on leaving. I could not check my booking details at the hotel due to internet issue. And could not get the receptionist to confirm or check my booking so paid and left with a view to correcting at a later date rang the hotel Monday AM and explained and the refund for the breakfast was given immediately although no expalantion as to why it could not be sorted on checkout.
Review 35:The location was superb as it is set in the woodland by The Wrekin , Very quiet area with no traffic , relaxing surroundingd
Review 36:some of the decor was outdated, the breakfast was a bit naff and old fashioned B&B style - cheap quality ingredients, so more a "cheap and cheerful" greasy spoon experience than a nice hotel. Which is fine, but in comparison to the rate we paid a little bit on the poor side...
Review 37:staff were nice and helpful
Review 38:Very comfortable, friendly hotel. Buffet style breakfast very good. Quick and efficient. Even though dining room fully booked we had an enjoyable bar meal served within 15 minutes.
Review 39:Nothing
Review 40:Location as we wanted to climb the Wreking, the hotel was clean and comfortable, balcony overlooking the garden was nice, the food was excellent for both breakfast and evening meal.
Review 41:Overpriced for room twice cost of same for next day Parking full difficult moving around other cars parked not in markings Incorrect meal served one guest eating alone due to wait for correct meal Requests for water twice Meats well done not medium to well as requested General feeling hotel was hosting large wedding therefore unable to cope with other guests
Review 42:Location nice staff
Review 43:Only 1 pillow each. Had trouble emptying the bath as no chain attached to the bath plug. Had to use a coat hanger to hook out plug. Maid knocking on door at 9.20am to service room! Obviously we hadn't checked out. Fire alarm sounding at 10pm as another guest let hot water steam into their bedroom (not hotels fault) Not bad for £45.
Review 44:Location, wifi and all generally good value for money.
Review 45:All wonderful.
Review 46:Lovely location. We are return guests so we must like it. Great staff, lovely bar meals. The chicken burgers are wonderful. Location for touring Shropshire is spot on. Ask for a balcony.
Review 47:On one occasion the room was not serviced. Cigarette butts on the balcony and it had not been swept. The WiFi dropped out after two days. The final bill was incorrect, an extra dinner had been charged.they could not produce a refund slip for a payment refunded. We wrote to them, and they didn't get our names correct on the envelope.
Review 48:Location and meals very good.
Review 49:Sign posting for rooms poor in what was an absolute maze of corridors. Shower leaked making a pitter patter noise in the tin bath. Reception were indifferent though much improved with the stay.
Review 50:Nice location, comfortable room, value for money. free use of the gym. Relaxed bar with willing staff.
Review 51:We were given wifi passwords but neither my iphone or husbands android phone could pick it up. Not really a problem for us but could have been awkward for a business user needing to do some work.
Review 52:Evening meal. Food was top quality and an interesting menu. Staff all very pleasant and helpful.
Review 53:I asked for some more milk for the room at approx 10pm at reception and the receptionist said she would bring some up... It never arrived so i couldn't have a morning cuppa
Review 54:The restaurant staff were superb and the evening meal fantastic.
Review 55:That there was a horrendously noisy party which went on until the early hours. We should have been informed!!
Review 56:Beautiful grounds. Courteous and helpful staff. Good food.
Review 57:Gorgeous location, beautiful views from our private balcony & luxurious rooms. Lovely food on the restaurant too ! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the local area - blows the socks off the likes of a Premier Inn for a similar price.
Review 58:We felt that service at bar was slow all evening . Breakfast food was ok but coffee left a lot to be desired.
Review 59:Food for the event - my retirement - was relay good. We were upgraded to suite for 3 which was lovely.
Review 60:Very poor choice for GLUTEN FREE menu options, particularly the day bar menu free WiFi unreliable
Review 61:Love the situation the Buckatree Hall Hotel is at, seconds from the M54 yet so peaceful & pretty Load of parking Very accessible for those with mobility issues You can bring your dog, lovely walks on the door step
Review 62:we had a double room for my husband and i but unfortunaley only had one hand and one bath towel. In the end we didn't need a second but that was a bit odd.
Review 63:Beds were nice and firm, there was an iron a board a hair drier all in the room - makes such a nice change and easy life. Also spare pillows and a blanket in the wardrobe - love these little touches
Review 64:The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and a good size, and the bed was very comfortable.Very quiet and relaxing.Good carpark and very convenient for Wellington and Telford. Breakfast looked good, but sadly we were too late ! bed was so comfortable !!!
Review 65:The fact that they constantly kept trying to over charge me. Meal they charged me for s course from the restraunt when we are at the bar, room they said I'd upgraded and I hadn't , I paid for breakfasts upfront and before I left they tried charging me again poor staff attitude. Cards go the room 27 never worked and every time we went to our room we bad go go back and get a member of staff to let us in.
Review 66:Liked the location and how pet friendly they were
Review 67:didnt get my lake view room as "walk ins" supposedly arrived that morning and filled the hotel! i had booked a lake view weeks before and felt very fobbed off and insulted. WIFI almost non existant. we were provided with 2 teabags in room and 1 teaspoon!
Review 68:Lovely Hotel, lovely setting, standard double was excellent. Staff were all charming, helpful. Meal in the restaurant was ideal. Last minute booking, so price was excellent for what we got.
Review 69:They welcomed our dog and our room was well placed to be able to go to and fro with her without having to go through the hotel. The dinner was well cooked and nicely presented. Continental breakfast was adequate but I would have liked a bigger choice of fruit, yoghurt and cereal.
Review 70:While the room was good the door lock did not work and they need a make over
Review 71:Meal in restraunt was very good as was breakfast. Good staff happy to help and good service.
Review 72:Tap on sink lose. Light coming away from wall. Bathroom door knob loose. Blinds on windows not working.reception not interested
Review 73:Room had nice decoration
Review 74:The food leaves something to be desired. I did not eat a beef dish as it was fairly tasteless and commented, when asked if everything was OK. I was told my comments would be passed on to the chef but no feedback. Unable to turn the heating off in our room and what it was doing on in June I don't know. For a hotel this far out of town it is fairly pricey.
Review 75:The staff were helpful and polite. The accommodation is comfortable and fairly well appointed. The grounds are well maintained.
Review 76:My only complaint. House keeping coming into my room at 9.30am then shouting in again at 10.20am. My room is paid for untill 11am! Feeling as if you should have left earlier isnt very good in an otherwise perfect hotel..
Review 77:Love staying here. Peaceful, idyllic and easy to find. Staff have been lovely on both my visits. The rooms overlooking the garden are perfect.
Review 78:Small problems as stated above.
Review 79:Both small problems dealt with efficiently and pleasantly by management. Room well appointed and staff very pleasant. Excellent dinner.
Review 80:Bed was only a Small Double with very little room. Bathroom had no window and Extractor Fan was very noisy. Bathroom Door couldn't be closed from the Outside (Bedroom Side) No Handle on Door. Night Staff were poor when we wanted a drink at the bar. Had to ask someone to come several times. Staff going off duty were not interested. Was told to go to the Lounge Bar and wait for a Breakfast Table. Very Poor. While there was a Wedding on, we couldn't use the Lounge as the Wedding Party had he run of the place.
Review 81:Location and Grounds were Lovely
Review 82:Dining room was too hot for comfort; gym equipment a bit old and some pieces did not work properly.
Review 83:Location great for walking and Ironbridge museums; food very good.
Review 84:Overhead light in doorway not working, reported it twice. There was no action taken during our 3 night stay. Minimal toiletries and tea, coffee and milk.
Review 85:The location, the friendly staff and the quality of the food in the restaurant and bar.
Review 86:When I booked this Hotel in JANUARY 2015 I requested lowest possible floor as two of our party are disabled. The rooms we were allocated was one on the 2nd floor and one on 3rd floor right at the TOP of the Hotel. We asked the Receptionist on duty and she said that Booking.com DID NOT ALWAYS PASS ON THESE REQUESTS. We were not offered other rooms. On leaving the Hotel we informed the Events Co-ordinator of our disappointment at the rooms we were allocated and she said that requests made by Booking.com WERE ALWAYS PASSED ON??!! Considering we booked in January and the booking was for May 2015 surely they should have allocated us the best available rooms as we had booked so long in advance. The Hotel is one of our favourite weekends away in May so we would appreciate your comments. We were not offered any compensation (e.g. maybe free breakfast for the inconvenience but this did not happen. Yours disappointedly
Review 87:The Location, Comfortable Rooms Great Breakfast
Review 88:Service was a bit slow but they had another large party in at the same time. Breakfast finished at 9.30am on a Bank Holiday Monday which was a bit early.
Review 89:Comfortable quiet hotel in a lovely rural location. Nice outside space to sit and have a coffee.
Review 90:Not a bad experience but decor very busy for our taste and headboards in our room badly fixed and we thought a bad design as the back of the bed fixings were covered in dust .
Review 91:Loved the setting of the hotel, the balcony/veranda on the bedroom was really good to be able to open the balcony door and to sit and enjoy the view of the grounds was a bonus , made the room very pleasant . Friendly staff .
Review 92:Atmosphere in the bar was slightly subdued. Would definitely benefit from some sports on the TV or music in the background to give it a more lively feel. Bar food was lovely but there is a lack of appropriate seating for dining.
Review 93:Stunning location, the view from the balcony in our bedroom was picturesque. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were all over pleasant and helpful.
Review 94:Our overall stay was brilliant, however we were a party of 14 and were rushed into taking our seats for our evening meal. Meals were at the table before we were all seated and soup was going cold waiting for everyone. We were not able to order any drinks at this point as staff were rushing round. I had to request for cutlery on two occasions as we were not provided with any. Extra sauces ordered with our steaks were not provided even though previously ordered and asked for again with the meal. So service of the evening was very poor. Waiting on staff were under a lot of pressure.
Review 95:Peacefulness and quiet in lovely countryside.
Review 96:the bathroom fan kept running all night informed staff on leaving as would like to stay again but would like to know how to switch fan off as could not find a switch
Review 97:the evening meal was excellent
Review 98:Breakfast sitting on buffet hot plates for too long. Could be ordered fresh for amount of people that were there. Asked for quiet room which was great until the last night when the room next door had a dog barking for 2 hours. The bed was hard and the bathroom fan sounded like a Spitfire on take off! It was connected to the light so could not avoid it.
Review 99:Had a balcony room overlooking lake/pond. Restaurant meal good but expensive. Rooms clean although décor getting a bit tired. Overall we enjoyed our stay with only minor niggles.
Review 100:Nice hotel in a lovely setting. Slightly further away from donnington than I usually stay when visiting family. Even including breakfast price (£10.95 for the buffet) it worked out cheaper than the premier inn and the kids breakfast was free.
Review 101:Stayed just one night with our daughter and granddaughter as we were going to the Ironbridge Museum. The hotel was in a lovely setting. Although we only had breakfast it seemed popular with people not staying at the hotel, for breakfast and afternoon teas. We would certainly go back and recommend this hotel.
Review 102:The WiFi isn't great, disconnected frequently and was low speed.
Review 103:Stayed at Buckatree as it was ideally located for Attingham Park and Ironbridge. The hotel is beautifully situated and the rooms were tastefully decorated, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and polite.
Review 104:Nothing.
Review 105:We were able to come and go without any problems. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely room, out of the way, not noisy at all and very comfortable. We really liked the location, very good for walkers although we weren't. Appreciated free parking with plenty of spaces and the setting by the Wrekin was lovely and quiet.
Review 106:The morning service at breakfast was a bit poor. It was slow and disjointed and nothing like the evening service
Review 107:The location and environment was very pleasant and the reception, restaurant staff were very friendly. Food was good and the room was clean, tidy and a good size.
Review 108:The lovely quiet location was superb for just being able to relax after a few days on business. It broke the journey before returning to work the next day, leaving me refreshed and ready! Excellent staff, great friendly service, and good value room service.
Review 109:Only slight critism whilst in the restaurant staff were a little slow and we had 2 go 2 the bar to get our own drinks as waiting to long .
Review 110:Had a romantic feel to it.
Review 111:This hotel was like travelling back in time to the 80's. Dated dining room and food, and very overpriced for what it was. No mobile phone signal or wifi connection in room at all.
Review 112:Decent new bar area.
Review 113:the electric went off leaving us with no electric sockets. table was booked for 7.30 for 10 of us, I had to speak to a waiter at 8-15 as we still had not received our starters. Got told they were busy with a party of 101 reason for the delay, just not good enough
Review 114:its location
Review 115:Heating remained on entire night, we tried turning the radiator knob but that didn't seem to do it. So slept with balcony window open all night!
Review 116:Scenery and hotel surroundings were lovely! Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice cv gym equipment. Excellent value for money.
Review 117:The staff were friendly and polite, my room was comfortable and clean and had everything I needed including a fabulous view across the Shropshire countryside. The hotel decor generally was in very good condition just perhaps a little dated in style though this probably made it feel a bit more homely than standard 'business hotels'. Can't fault my stay.
Review 118:the runner on the bed was not clean, the music from a wedding could clearly be heard in our room.
Review 119:Our second stay was Mir as good as the first, however, I have booked in again :)
Review 120:My room was a little chilly on arrival, and the radiator got no warmer whatever I tried, but seemed to work fine the next day.
Review 121:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good choice of very tasty meals in the bar, and attentive staff. Free use of the gym which I hadn't noticed on booking, so was a pleasant surprise (mostly treadmills and cross trainers). No changing facilities, but a great hot powerful shower in my room. Great choice for breakfast and plenty of it if you wanted more.
Review 122:Wifi in hotel was appalling especially as I was staying over on business. Breakfast, was not seated or asked for tea/coffee nor toast.
Review 123:location and setting was good. hotel rooms comfy. nice for couples who like the country side.
Review 124:Fire alarms going off in the early hours, two nights in a row. Breakfast was average, I think the hotel is over priced. Wifi was slow and a weak signal. Hairs (a lot of small curly ones) on the floor in the bathroom. Offered a room move but the point is that the room shouldn't be like that in the first state.
Review 125:The bed was fairly comfortable. One of the reception managers was very helpful.
Review 126:ordered steak as evening meal - very tough room service breakfast was the smallest eggs with bread rather than toast!
Review 127:picturesque grounds room and bed comfortable staff very friendly and helpful
Review 128:The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was warm , comfortable and quiet .The rate I paid was very good value .There are lots of attractions in the area and the hotel would make a good base to explore Shropshire
Review 129:being told we couldn't have breakfast next day even though when the room was booked breakfast was on our confirmation on screen and on paper, it spoiled the weekend away, my mom rang up and complained and we were offered half our money back, I would of liked to of taken my girlfriend for another night with breakfast to make up for our other one being ruined
Review 130:the location, the comfort of the rooms, and being dog friendly and the cost that particular weekend.
Review 131:LIKED IT ALL
Review 132:Lovely full English breakfast and plenty of it. Staff very helpful and friendly .Room was clean and comfortable . The ground floor location was excellent in meeting my needs
Review 133:Pet friendly but not in the bar area which was a disappointment.
Review 134:You get a sense of luxury here compared to the usual Telford hotels and it is more comfortable, relaxing and quiet. A bit further away but worth the drive. Opposite Ercall Woods to walk the dog.
Review 135:We didn't encounter anything we didn't like.
Review 136:The hotel was gorgeous the Christmas decorations made it look wonderful and the staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble.
The Fine Print
