Reviews for Imperial Hotel Galway
Review 1:Friendly accommodating staff, location was excellent,no parking but the staff validated my parking ticket so didn't cost as much as I was expecting.rooms were lovely and clean with tea coffee facilities, and breakfast was lovely and plentiful.
Review 2:Perfect location in the city for shopping. I was able to drop off my bags as I passed by and headed off for more, so I was not lugging around shopping bags all day.
Review 3:I was very pleased with our stay in your hotel. The location is perfect so near everything and our room was beautiful and very spacious. I will definitely be returning.
Review 4:Its a pity there aren't any smokers rooms or maybe just not enough.
Review 5:Nice friebdly staff, helpul in every way. The room was clean and tidy with a nice comfortable bed. Lots and lots of very hot water and a good supply of spotless towels. Loads of tea and coffee supplies and when I asked for some more teabags and milk I was given lots more.
Review 6:Friendly staff, allowed us to stay in breakfast Hall for a long leisurely breakfast, the location is excellent for shops, trains, nightlife, rooms very spacious
Review 7:Maybe the heat in the rooms could be turned down a little bit as it was a little too hot to sleep. Other than that nothing I could fault
Review 8:The room was clean and comfortable. It was very warm and welcoming too. Location perfect and food delicious Will definitely return
Review 9:We are mature ladies and we had neighbours who were a bit too noisy with music till early morning only one night so not too bad.
Review 10:The Location and the great atmosphere full of life
Review 11:I was under the impression that the breakfast included in the rate would be a full Irish but it was just a continental buffet with boiled eggs, I found this strange because they serve full Irish breakfasts downstairs in the bar, however it was lovey all the same and included a morning paper.
Review 12:The food in this hotel is fabulous, couldn't fault it. We had a room at the front of the hotel and I can honestly say that the soundproofing is excellent, once the windows are closed you can barely hear anything at all. Location was amazing and parking is not far away & great value at €10 per day.
Review 13:The hotel is well located since it is the city centre, just a few minutes walk from both the bus/train station and the Claddagh. Our room was very spacious, clean and silent; the furniture was new. The breakfast buffet was rich and well assorted.
Review 14:Nothing staff very helpful room In excellent condition
Review 15:Arrived late night porter a happy chap engaged in a decent chat spoke a bit of gaelic which I speak very good hotel nothing
Review 16:The room was extremely warm and stuffy despite being a large triple room and sleeping with windows open.
Review 17:Location was perfect for a night out in Galway. No taxi required.
Review 18:the general cleanliness of the property and the rooms was very poor. Carpets walls etc were dirty and stained.
Review 19:its location is very good for shopping and nite life.
Review 20:Room needed a good hoover and the peaches were gone off at breakfast
Review 21:Perfect location and friendly staff. Would stay here again as it was great value for money.
Review 22:Some staff were not very friendly. Breakfast was mediocre, no toast. Informed when I paid that it was a continental breakfast included in price and not a cooked breakfast. Had to pay another €5 for cooked breakfast. Paid €30 for parking as the hotel had none. Not the nicest hotel I ever stayed in.
Review 23:Location
Review 24:The room was large and clean. The view from the room over Eire square was fantastic. A lovely and great choice of the continental breakfast was excellent.
Review 25:The floor boards were a little creaky and you could hear the footsteps from upstairs. The water pressure in the shower was terrible.
Review 26:The location of the hotel was perfect and the staff were very friendly. The room was very large and beds nice and comfortable. We would happily stay again.
Review 27:not very clean, lots of cobwebs in room.Shower/Bath was really in need of being degrimed. Didn't even bother using as partner did and said no pressure from shower and was either baltic or boiling.looked great upon reception but rest of place could do with a clean up and refurbishment. The breakfast is continental you will pay €5 4 a fry. But the continental was pretty good.We parked in eyre square shopping centre as no parking facilities And we're not told we needed to have our ticket stamped so we would only be charged €10. We walked back to car went to pay and we were being charged €20 I walked back to hotel (7 and a half months pregnant) to no explanation lady was quite rude she just took ticket did whatever and passed it back.
Review 28:We loved the location right on eyre square, as we were visiting the Xmas markets. Room was plenty big, although we had to move the single bed 4 our daughter as she could not see the TV. Nice breakfast even if it was continental.
Review 29:There was a laneway outside our window and at 5.00 a.m. bins were being wheeled up and down the lane. After that it was deliveries. So next time I stay in the hotel, I will look for a quiet room!
Review 30:Location is excellent. Rooms are big and comfortable.
Review 31:Cleanliness not a priority, rubbish still under bed from previous guests, carpets not well hoovered and the the tea/coffee facilities were dirty
Review 32:Great location, lovely breakfast included in the price and great value for money
Review 33:I was only there last week dissapointed as we had no towels in room had to ask for room to be cleaned next day at 3.30 and had no handle on window in bathroom with very bad winds when we were there bathroom was freezing
Review 34:Stayed there good few times great hotel great location
Review 35:I have a 3 year old and it was worrying that you could lock the door to stop people getting in, but not from him getting out. My sister ran a bath one night and all this mossy looking stuff shot out of the tap, there was a lot of it in the bath. She had a shower instead. The heating was on ALL NIGHT.We were roasted out of it. Yet when we came to the room for the kids to nap in the day it was freezing. We turned off radiators at night but one of them was still hot at 2am.
Review 36:Great location close to all the shops. Didn't notice any noise pollution. Server in the restaurant below very friendly, we even got cocktails on a Monday night with a smile. Breakfast pleasant, although it was only continental we appreciated the boiled eggs available. The family room we got was huge! There was a massive kingsize and two singles, space aplenty.
Review 37:The room was quite dark even in the day as there were only 2 smallwindows that didn't let in much light. I feel like they could havedone more with the room. It was a big enough room but I feel like theydecorated it like a smaller room.
Review 38:I liked the size of the room but felt that they could have done morewith it. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a nice size.Breakfast was included but was continental breakfast. If you wanted afull Irish it's €5, which isn't that bad.
Review 39:The location of the hotel was perfect for shopping and going to the theatre which was the reason for our visit to Eyre Square. Our twin room was very spacious and warm. We didn't have a great view from our room as the window was in the corner but that didn't really matter as we were only staying for one night. Our evening meal and breakfast were lovely with plenty of food and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 40:No parking was a pain staff directed is to a car park was €10 for overnight
Review 41:Great location and big room shower was good and powerful the room was nice and clean continental breakfast was very nice
Review 42:On departure I found a pair of dirty black socks behind the curtain that didn't belong to either of us
Review 43:Location was brilliant, shower was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable.
Review 44:rooms we stayed in was small and stuffy and found myself waking up at night gasping for air.
Review 45:The staff were amazing and friendly and always helpful. Great location too
Review 46:Extremely noisy hotel from banging doors to housekeeping hoovering rooms at 10 am on a bank holiday Monday. There are apartments right beside it so u can hear everything. Parking is also not on site and costs around €12.
Review 47:Location is obviously the main reason for booking this hotel as everything is on your door step.
Review 48:Staff downstairs were a bit rude and slow to take order. Had to leave hotel to get breakfast elsewhere.
Review 49:Reception staff were lovely and the rooms were great fir the value.
Review 50:Unfortunately on entering the room, a half empty glass of alcohol was left beside the bed, also cobwebs were all around the ceiling, because we were late leaving the room (& in fairness to them they didn't call us to check out) but I decided to strip the bed to make it easier for staff, I was shocked to see the state of the undersheet, it was filthy also inside covers of the pillows, there's no excuse for that, dirty cloths left on sink In dining room as well. Carpet in lift dity as well, I had booked 2 rooms to stay there for New Years but don think I will now. Such a pity as it in prime location
Review 51:Location, all staff friendly & helpful , comfortable bar.
Review 52:Very Noisy, room backed onto a laneway/ delivery yard, bins being emptied, bottles being sorted made for a VERY interrupted sleep every night, even with the double glazed windows closed
Review 53:Very convenient location
Review 54:We were staying on the 3rd floor, im a frequent stayer here and no shocknto the ststem but the room was cold.
Review 55:Location, good breakfast and helpful staff
Review 56:The room was dirty. The was rubbish on the floor in reception in view of receptionist and it was still on floor hours later. Bedroom was dirty on skirting board beside bed - hopefully wasn't vomit. Carpets throughout hotel & bedroom stained and grubby.
Review 57:what I liked about the hotel was its location to the train station and the city centre also when I arrived I was given a small room and when I asked for a other room they gave me a nice big family room
Review 58:Bathroom could need a renovation. Old fournished. Very little pressur on the water, doesn't make it easy for showering. Bed is very soft.
Review 59:Location, right in the centre.
Review 60:The fact dat d room had a extra bed even do der was two of us..
Review 61:I liked d fact dat d hotel felled like home..evrybdy was happy n friendly..ready to help staffs..
Review 62:If you are booking this hotel ask for a room away from the front of the hotel as its all little noisey at night and road sweepers in the morning
Review 63:The hotel location is very good very near shop street where most of the good pubs are no need for taxis
Review 64:Labyrinthic at times; the furniture is quite old looking albeit still functional. The breakfast could be improved a bit.
Review 65:Huge room, very well equipped. Large bathroom. The breakfast choice was adequate although not stellar. They can organise tours with pick up directly at the hotel lobby. It's right in Eyre Square.
Review 66:There wasn't anything I didnt like
Review 67:This hotel has it all, location atm friendly staff good food spotlessly clean rooms air con spacious bar, I'm guessing family run old fashioned excellent hospitality
Review 68:Very disappointed that we booked bed and breakfast package but in arrival were told it was continental breakfast and would be an extra €5 per person per day for full breakfast.. Had already paid €517 for 3 nights b&b and thought this was disgraceful.. Hotel very basic and dated ..
Review 69:Only good point was location
Review 70:The bed creaked all night even though were weren't moving in it (quite freaky) and the breakfast was appalling, we were waiting 20 minutes for a seat and then when we went to get our food there was just pastries in packets or cereal, very disappointing. a good coffee and fresh croissant is not very difficult to get right. The staff at reception were nice but the woman in charge of breakfast was not very pleasant!
Review 71:The location of this hotel is perfect!
Review 72:Was no meat included in breakfast .a lot of hotels the sausages are included in Buffett breakfast
Review 73:After I booked with booking .com I rang te hotel and a Canadian girl answered.i just wanted to ask about getting a room near the lift as we had the mother in law in a wheelchair and a 7 month old baby in buggy with us .she accommodated us v well right beside the lift
Review 74:Very dark, only a small window, room was right down the back and next to a fire exit so quite noisy in the morning
Review 75:Very central, bathroom had a bath, didn't try the breakfast. The receptionist was a very friendly American girl.
Review 76:The access/ bar/ restaurant was filthy. I felt like I might stick to the carpet. I could not bear to eat in it if there was not where else. When people walked passed the room the floor vibrated. This kept wakening me during the night.
Review 77:Room was spacious and it was good to have 3 single beds as there were 3 adults. 'Some' staff were lovely, one man very considerate to my elderly mother. Some staff (in breakfast room on 1st floor) were disorganised, rushing but getting nowhere...
Review 78:All good
Review 79:Great hotel great staff great food. Super rooms.and 7 of us rovers fan's manager looked after us great.will be telling other rovers fan's best place to stay in galway
Review 80:It was a bit disappointing to get there and realise it was only a contential breakfast rather than a cooked breakfast. Cooked breakfast was a supplementary cost and was situated in the bar area which meant we had no access to the contential breakfast items.
Review 81:The room was very comfortable.
Review 82:breakfast should not be continental. apparently they had normal breakfast before, but have since taken it away and replaced with this......otherwise good stay
Review 83:No complaints.
Review 84:Excellent location. Close to train/coach station and lots of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. There is free wifi even though this wasn't advertised when we booked the hotel. Free continental breakfast was good with lots to choose from.
Review 85:Staff were not particularly friendly. Absolutely no frills and quite a lot of street noise at night.
Review 86:Can't beat the location but don't expect anything fancy.
Review 87:The non smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes. The view of untidy refuse bins out the window was not pleasant. The reception area smelled stale and greatly let down the rest of the hotel.
Review 88:The room was spacious and comfortable. The reception staff was v friendly.
Review 89:The restaurant looks sad and a bit old. Nothing like the room we had. And I felt it was a punition for the staff who had to look after the breakfast.
Review 90:We had a room at the top floor with the view of the park. Amazing ! However I had to ask for this view as we should have had the back. But the room was really good.
Review 91:The walls were made out of paper. You can hear every word your neighbours talk about. Could not sleep due to a snorring neighbour and drunk people partying on the street. Staff called me 4 times prior to my check in and I am still not exactly sure why.
Review 92:The room was very spacious and clean, staff was friendly.
Review 93:Our rooms were at the back and there was a lot of noise in the early hours from revellers. Windows double glazed but noise loud enough to wake me up.
Review 94:Staff were very friendly and helpful in the main (bit abrupt at breakfast). The breakfast was fantastic and was available till 11.30am. There was lots of info available in the lobby regarding things to do.
Review 95:When we checked in first the room we were allocated was at back of hotel with very small window so very poor lighting but staff were very quick to give us another room which actually turned out to be the best room in hotel with view over eyre sq!
Review 96:Location is perfect for exploring Galway City..shopping, eating, drinking and fun times right on the doorstep. Stayed in room with view over eyre square which was fab! Amazingly no probs with noise even though we were right above supermacs on a bank hol :-) staff very friendly! Continental brekkie included which was basic but perfect all the same. Option of a fry up for €5 extra downstairs in bar. I would definitely stay again!
Review 97:Everything was a bit worn out or and that's why probably I got an impression it was not too clean. The room was bit but there was only one small window so it was a bit dark. The lights were neither enough to light it up.
Review 98:The location is great, very central. The rooms are big.
Review 99:We ordered food in the hotel restaurant on one of the nights and the starters were not as described on the menu. They also tasted like freezer food. Howe've, the mains were really good and tasted fresh. We also received a drink for free each after we complained about the starter so everything turned out well in the end.
Review 100:- location - staff friendliness - cleaningness - big and comfy bed
Review 101:locatation was ideal. Most of the staff were pleasant but a few would need to smile more and look as if they enjoyed their work.Room was excellent and breakfast good.
Review 102:The noise at night time. But that comes with staying in a hotel so central
Review 103:The location of the hotel is unbelievable! the view from our room (302) was top class. Will definitely be staying here again and my parents are going to stay here also.
Review 104:The residents bar was terrible. came back to have a few drinks floors and tables were filthy. No atmosphere and the barman had to leave as he was also doing doorman!
Review 105:The location was excellent. and the continental breakfast was really nice, lots of choice. bed was super comfy.
Review 106:only small thing was the room was very warm at night not a bad complaint but was bit uncomfortable
Review 107:was very quiet no noise at night, clean hotel for a great price in a great location and staff were very friendly and approachable and food in hotel was very nice, have already recommended this hotel and will stay here again
Review 108:Some Staff in the bar/restaurant could have been thought how to smile and be a little more pleasant.
Review 109:The Hotel is right in the centre of everything a few mins walk from the shops bars and restaurants. Food in the bar was really nice as was the continental breakfast in the morning great choice.
Review 110:2 single beds pushed together is not a double bed. wifi was open to everybody in city center location, result very bad speeds. Heating was broken and it was very cold. Generally old, dated looking hotel.
Review 111:location was great
Review 112:paying for room in cash before inspecting it, but in fairness was changed immediately upon request. my views on this room were repeated on leaving.
Review 113:asking for a quiet room free of noise and getting it. We had fab room,
Review 114:Nothing to complain about here!!
Review 115:Location is perfect for shopping, night out and seeing everything Galway has to offer! Staff were lovely and food was great. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Galway!
Review 116:- Morning staff in bar did not speak English. - Continental breakfast which was lovely was supplied but E5 extra charge for fry, was not told this when booking.
Review 117:- Very quite hotel - Excellent location, city centre
Review 118:Heating was turned off early in morning and had to ask staff to turn it back on
Review 119:Good continental breakfast included. Staff very friendly and helpful Excellent location
Review 120:we paid 5 euro to obtain an irish breakfast but the quality could be improved plus I disliked having to eat it in a bar.......
Review 121:The availability of GF bread
Review 122:Breakfast the next morning was a nightmare. Some of the staff were extremely rude to U.S. and other customers I was disgusted about how they treated us. We sat in the middle of the bar room underneath the tv and a staff member asked if we were ok. We said we wud like to order a breakfast and she said you can't eat it there, do we had to move up yo the front bar. Which was very full, then there was issued with breakfast vouchers, and our server then was really rude to us and other guests.while we are our breakfast other people say in the area we were in first and ate their breakfast
Review 123:The receptionist was very accommodating and Shane the barman was very friendly. The hotel is in a great location.
Review 124:the long walk to and from the hotel to the overnight car park, the bar was very busy on the night we were there and there was only one ( very friendly girl ) serving.
Review 125:the location is excellent, the food was lovely, the service was top class and the beds were so comfortable. a group of eight of us ( all family couples ) stayed there and all were very happy with the facilities.
Review 126:Room was extremely warm. There was an aircon unit though and i tried operating it but it didnt get cool enough for me (i think u need to contact reception to turn it on?). I just left the window open all night and it was fine for me.
Review 127:Was slightly hesitant booking given some of the negative comments but so glad I did. Hotel is located right off eyre square. I had a room on the 3rd floor located to the back and there wasn't a bit of disruption or noise. Such good value for money and rate included continental breakfast, an extra €5 would give u a full Irish which is very reasonable compared to other hotels. Room was clean, very spacious & comfortable. I booked a single room & there was a large kingsize and a single bed in the room. It's true that u don't get the extras like small bottles of shampoo etc in the bathroom but i travel a lot and always bring me own anyway. I wouldn't expect any extras given the room rate. If you are looking for simply a clean, comfortable bed in the heart of Galway then this is it. If u prefer a super luxurious hotel with all the bells and whistles but in the same location then yes, there are a few nearby at 3-4 times the price.
Review 128:Great location, very central for shopping. The breakfast was fabulous, freshly cooked and loads of it. Continental breakfast included with room, worth paying the extra €5 for the full Irish. Will definitely be back. Car parking nearby in city centre car park, get your parking ticket punched for a reduction in parking fee. Overnight parking €20 we paid €12 after the Receptionist punched our ticket. Great value.
Review 129:Most unfriendly people we have ever met both in the Hotel and shops.Did lots of shopping but regret leaving our money there. Won't be back.
Review 130:Absolutely nothing
Review 131:Stayed in Room 317....One of the radiators were not working so the room felt a bit chilly.
Review 132:Location was brilliant...staff were very helpful and friendly...room was clean and spacious for the three of us.
Review 133:Noisy corridors at night we had men trying to kick out doors in, Security called took their time to get up. Lamps over beds not working no batteries in remote for tv,ripped sheets
Review 134:Central location Price
Review 135:Very central location to shopping and transportation. Most courteous and helpful staff. Very large room. Interesting and unexpected night before Halloween entertainment under our window by college students until 3AM. Loud but orderly and colorful! Most entertaining!
Review 136:no wifi in room upstairs. had to go to breakfast room or sitting room to access it.
Review 137:room very comfortable. delicious breakfast. helpful staff. super location
