Reviews for Villa Vinicia
Review 1:This is a fascinating property which is being lovingly restored. The room we had was spacious, clean and perfect for the four of us. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was modern and clean with a great shower. We would be happy to recommend this hotel as it is in a great location and would be perfect for exploring Lake Como and the surrounding areas.
Review 2:The hotel should make an effort to inform their guests of the attractions of Domaso and surroundings during the low season in autumn. This is especially important for those that come from other continents, as we did.
Review 3:The room I stayed was in fact an apartment being equipped with a refrigerator, so you can bring and store food and cook your meals. Near Villa Vinicia you can buy typical products (various kinds of cold cuts, cheese, bread) and wine, so you don't have to spend your money in restaurants if you come with a low budget.
Review 4:No lift ... but the Owner helped with the luggage which was very kind .
Review 5:The Authentic Italian Architecture and setting in the village . Privacy and space .
Review 6:Nothing really! Perhaps the only difficulty we faced was getting to the hotel so my advice is to either go by car or by taxi but don't depend on the buses as we did & ended up walking about 4-5 km with our luggage which doesn't sound that bad when you remember it's Lake Como ;)
Review 7:What an amazing place! Nestled in the middle of Domaso & few metres from the sea! The owner or he seemed like one was really nice! The rooms are spacious, the wifi is perfect, even the design from the inside was interesting! If you like simplicity go for this hotel or should I say apartment!
Review 8:Some upper rooms lack natural lighting
Review 9:Excellently refurbished villa, amazing blend of old and new, close proximity to the lake, restaurants, parking lots, nice inner yard, all melted in the historical quarter of beautiful buildings. Friendly personnel, great for companies of friends or families with kids. Nice playroom in the villa and great playground in the nearby park.
Review 10:Lack of parking space.
Review 11:Excellent appartment with a play room for young children and outdoor garden with Swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful receptionist.
Review 12:Really well presented and newly refurbed studio apartment in an absolutely stunning period building. Great garden for use by guests, with a small swimming pool and a barbecue. Helpful and friendly staff, with lots of leaflets and suggestions for how you can spend your time. The honesty shop with basic groceries (milk, bread etc.) was also a nice feature.
Review 13:The lack of onsite secure parking. The reception staff offered alternative options.
Review 14:Beautiful villa and facilities. We really enjoyed the apartment, newly refurbished and clean with fantastic kitchenette facilities. Staff members were really helpful.
Review 15:You won't be able to park your car at the hotel. The parking is ca. 150 m far from the hotel... The swimming pool is rather for kids than for adults) And one more small thing: there are no hooks for the towels or clothes.
Review 16:Very nice hosts, impressive interior, clean and good location. What else? Ah, stunning playroom for the kids)
Review 17:The hospitality of the people who run this accommodation. The modern, well equipped apartments in the renovated house. The facilities offered (garden, pool, groceries, etc, etc)
Review 18:Great holiday on Lake Como staying at Villa Vinicia. Jimmy and Sonia extend a warm welcome in their wonderful Villa. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Review 19:Fantastic historic villa tastfully converted into apartments. Owner couldn't be more friendly and helpful, grazie! Lots of extra thoughtful touches; shop for those arriving on Sundays. Great location for exploring the north of the lake, trips into Switzerland and wine region.
Review 20:We liked everything about Villia Vinicia. Jimmie was so friendly and welcoming. It is like home away from home. You feel like you are stepping back in time when you enter this amazing place, so peaceful and old style yet the apartments are really modern and comfortable. Great location for exploring Lake Como. Jimmie and Sonia have thought of everything, its their attention to detail that makes it fantastic (too many to mention). We loved the fact you can leave your order for fresh bread on a list the night before and the local bakery delivers it to your apartment the next morning. The garden is lovely to sit in having a glass of wine, cooking a bar-b-q and looking at the amazing views. Cant wait to return there.
Review 21:Wifi somehow slow and laptop did not work perfectly together with this connection. BUT this is the only thing that was not perfect.
Review 22:Just perfect for a place stay with kids. Everything you need is there, but then again nothing extra really. Price level is great! Staff, they do everything for you, that you would have a great holiday! Thanx!!!
Review 23:They could serve breakfast, although they have all the facilities for those who wants delivery!
Review 24:The owner it's a lovely woman! She told us all the story about the house and gave us lots of tips about the places nearby!
Review 25:No Toiletries were provided although hand soap was made available upon request.
Review 26:Old property with modern furnishings - well clean spacious rooms, soft beds, location to the lake, kitchen facilities, etc.
Review 27:I like the way property's heritage is preserved while giving it a modern look. This unique old and new blend makes it a must to stay. Above all is the attitude and excellent services of the property owners.
Review 28:Internet stopped working after a night of very heavy rain (was a Telco fault) - but than again, this is rural Italy, so don't expect everything to be perfect
Review 29:great modern facilities within the 17th century villa building - good combination of old & new; very large apartment with useable kitchen; very friendly staff - you can even have your laundry done for free !!!
Review 30:No faults with the property - there is plenty free parking nearby - including in front of the property but beware the narrow Italian streets - cars wider than 2.0m will end up reversing down the alley as the street narrows considerably just beyond the Villa.
Review 31:Amazing villa, a marriage of old and new. When you first walk in it seems very old, from the office to the hallways - but then you are surprised to find modern, clean apartments with mod cons and comfortable beds. The playroom is amazing - a great place to keep little ones busy whilst a selection of menus from local restaurants, suggested itineraries, reviews of attractions and a small shop for essentials keep adults happy. Free wifi and washing facilities top off a great stay. Jimmy was very helpful and friendly, always happy to help. Domaso is a small sleepy town at the top of the lake, a huge difference from the tourist traps to the south. If you are looking for action try elsewhere, but for peace and tranquillity its perfect. We will definitely consider staying here again. 10/10!
Review 32:There is no breakfast served. You can make your own, though, using the kitchen in the apartment and a supply of cereals, tea, coffee and such. The street directly in front of the house is very narrow (less than 2 meters wide). With a big car, it's better to park elsewhere and bring the luggage on foot.
Review 33:The house itself is just marvelous. It is almost 400 years old, and has been beautifully renovated and restored. Very high ceilings, and the renovation has partly exposed ancient walls/bricks. If you're into Architecture/History at all, this house is a must. On top of the ancient and original feel, you get modern bathrooms and kitchens (at least in our apartment). Free WiFi, which is working well. Good location, with just a few steps from the lake.
Review 34:Beds a little uncomfortable - but again, at our age .....
Review 35:Owner was extremely helpful and pleasant. Heat/hot water working perfectly. Rooms are a nice size.
Review 36:Nothing to not like.
Review 37:The location is perfect and the building is out of this world. So happy with our stay. Defornatly stay there. Very clean and jimmy very helpfull.
Review 38:Nothing. Everything was awesome.
Review 39:Great spot to unwind. Great facilities, including access to BBQ and kids play room. Good walking distance to the lake, restaurants, and ferry.
Review 40:Great modern apartment restored in a historic building. Great value for your money on Lake Como. Convenient little shop inside the building for items you may have forgotten or need.
Review 41:Nothing ( a lot of steps inside the house)
Review 42:We were a few hours too early but were welcome to check in already. Friendly owners, marvelous villa of the 17th century with old wooden doors, big massive stairs etc. Inside there are 7 modern big appartments. It is 100 m from the lake, enough restaurants and supermarkets nearby, you can rent a motorboat, do watersports or take the boat to the other side of the lake. If you order the evening before, the owners go to the bakery for you. It's splendid in every way!
Review 43:Beds not the best We were in a lane-facing apartment which was quite noisy late at night. Didn't affect the children but we had a couple of nights interrupted. The garden facing apartments might be quieter.
Review 44:Well appointed apartments, fantastic owners willing to help, close to lovely restaurants and a short walk to the main Domaso beach
Review 45:We've booked this place for only one night but could have stayed much longer (maybe next time). Fantastic apartments, very nice and helpful staff, children friendly and a perfect location to explore the surroundings of lake Como.
Review 46:- nothing, absolute perfect villa. - please note: parking is at a short walking distance and free of charge.
Review 47:Historical city villa beautifully renovated. Very clean. Restaurants and lake are on walking distance. Perfect venue for a stay at the Como lake.
Review 48:We were a group of 6 adults and 6 children. The villa had the most wonderful Italian charm. So quiet with friendly staff. The rooms were amazingly clean and up to date. We were celebrating a birthday and were able to pre-order a cake... beautiful and delicious!
Review 49:great ambience, all of the personal was very friendly and helpful and treated us almost like family. they went out of theor way to have all of our needs and wishes met. very special thanks to Sonia!
Review 50:wi fi didn't work properly
Review 51:Amazing villa in the old town. Everything working perfecto!!!! Owner is Sonia amazing lady, she text me with all instructions how to find hotel, ask if we need any food staff to be buy in case of late arrival. There is no lift in villa, but they help us with ll language. Even they gave us some onion as we miss to buy it
Review 52:Great service and nice atmosphere. The owners were very helpful and as we were travelling 2 families with children the possibility to use a common playroom and even babysitter service was much appreciated. The apartment had all necessary equipment and was very clean. Highly recommended!
Review 53:The apartment is very spacious and the owner is very nice. He is renovating the whole house and trying to bring back some history of the house.
Review 54:Street is too narrow to park the car but not a big problem.
Review 55:Room is renovated. Clean and cozy. Personnel is very kind and helpful. Recommended...
Review 56:The booking.com photos are not the same with the real. Don't belive the photos.
Review 57:We like our room. It was nice, clean and comfortable
Review 58:No, very happy with everything.
Review 59:We really liked the location and atmosphere. Very friendly owner and staff. Highly recommended.
Review 60:Nothing
Review 61:Beautiful Villa, spotlessly clean, great quiet location, friendly staff.
Review 62:Ps. Beware the very narrow one-way street-1.9 meters at its narrowest requires careful manoeuvring of a large car. :)
Review 63:Just lovely!
Review 64:Probably would Have prefared breakfast included
Review 65:Beautiful experience at the villa location and all will definately Recommend
Review 66:Fantastic stay, the owner couldn't have been more helpful, beautiful property an amazing location.
Review 67:We only were able to stay 2 evenings.
Review 68:Everything!
Review 69:Lovely stay in partly renewed old Italian casa
Review 70:The staff were very helpful
Review 71:No lift , far parking Not all rooms with lake view
Review 72:Staff Location
Review 73:A little tricky to access and having to pay extra for parking.
Review 74:The playroom for little ones was fab on rainy days.
Review 75:It would have been better if they have cleaned the room every day.
Review 76:It was quite nice location with various facilities.
Review 77:Very cold kid play area Difficult parking
Review 78:Interesting interior gathering old and new design elements Clean and tidy Very nice hosts
Review 79:Spaceful bedrooms, very clean,
Review 80:Parking as a litel bit away from the location
Review 81:Good location old bulding with new furnture
Review 82:So friendly. And so interesting with the stories about the the house! Nice garden!
Review 83:Great appartment!
Review 84:None
Review 85:The villa has a very nice garden with swimming pool and a room full of toys thought for little children. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Wonderful in all respects
Review 86:This villa was a pleasure to stay at. The location is convenient for shopping / catching the lake ferries / hiking / eating, but is far enough off the main road. Jimmy was very helpful, courteous, and friendly. Though the building dates from the 1600s the furnishings, from water to wifi, all are modern and work just as one would like. The pool, though not heated, was great for cooling off at the end of the day. Through our travels in Italy and the rest of Europe, this place would have to be one of the best if not the best.
Review 87:Great villa built on 1680 renovated recently; as you walk into this hostorical building you will be surprized with a very modern apartment with excellent facilities. The villa has a very nice garden with swimming pool. The location is in Domaso in a very nice area of Lake Como. I would like to thank the owner Mr. Jimmy for being so helpful during our entire stay; he truly made our stay memorable.
Review 88:Our apartment was beautiful. Spacious, clean and modern inside a traditional building. The building had a children's play room with a fantastic and intimate outside garden with a swimming pool. This place exceeded our expectations. The location was ideal as it was a short walk for coffee, restaurants and shops. Would love to come back again one day.
Review 89:Everything was great, but it can be difficult for people with reduced mobility.
Review 90:Excelent views of the lake. Beautiful, clean and very new apartment. Staff was amazing, Jimmy helped us to tune to watch the Spanish League final match between Athletico de Madrid and Barça. The house is a big and confortable villa with a nice garden and swimming pool. It is located very near the lake Como, but not in the lakefront, so the surroundings are very quiet.
Review 91:A really beautiful property in the perfect lake Como retreat. Wonderful and friendly staff. The size, price and quality of the apartments really stood out when I was researching where to stay as a family. The town is smaller than many other lakeside options but this only added to its appeal. The people in the town were super friendly.
Review 92:Parking is not available close by and full sized vehicles aren't able to drive up to the hotel.
Review 93:Really great building. Rooms are clean and neat. Friendly staff. My younger children loved the toy room.
Review 94:Second bathroom in the apartment for 8 people is not comfortable, as you can not stay full height due to the leaning roof.
Review 95:Amazing 17th century villa. Common spaces are historical and room are new, modern and fresh. Beds were ok. Amazing view from the roof window from the apartment for 8 people.
Review 96:Access to the villa is not very convenient, the road is very narrow so parking at the entrance and unloading your stuff can be a problem. The villa has no elevator, so it's better to travel light :-)
Review 97:We stayed at the villa, at the large apartment for two days and loved our stay. The owner was very helpful and friendly and had a great attitude. We stayed there off-season so some parts of the villa, as the pool and garden were noy in use but it was still great. Our daughter loved playing at the large playroom they have there.
Review 100:This Villa is a beautiful place to spend your vacation. It is a genuine italian villa, it still has the design and architecture from 300 years ago, but the rooms are very very modern. We sincerely recommend this villa.
Review 101:Everything: good location and very friendly and helpful staff, Sonia and Jimmy. Beautiful apartment and villa in general and great pool.
Review 102:The above ground pool was a bit rickety and they did not provide towels or soap.
Review 103:I loved the room, the bed was comfortable and the apartment was quite spacious. The location was great and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 104:The food in the two restaurants we visited in the village was not at our expectation level of the italian cuisine, but somewhat already tourism adapted.
Review 105:Everything, its just great the house and the appartments as well as the breakfast service
Review 106:Swimming pool is nice but could be improved compared to the rest of the facility. Parking in the area is a challenge but doable.
Review 107:Very nice building, originating 1680, which is well renovated whereby a lot of the original details remained in tact. (e.g. entry, wine cellar, etc.) The complex is situated in the town center meters away from the boulevard and shops in a very narrow street. It only holds 7 appartments which are all modern and spacious. The walled garden with swimming pool provides a nice quiet area to sunbath and rest. The management is very kind and attentive and help out with any request. Daily fresh bread service available. very childeren friendly. highly recommended, will certainly return sometime.
Review 108:The place is very pretty, well placed a few meters from Lac Como. The owner is very friendly and always very helpful. The appartment is very convenient.
Review 109:Didn't have a car and buses/ferries ran infrequently so it was a little difficult to get around.
Review 110:Very well run with very helpful owners. Old villa with many of the original features, but spacious and very modern accommodations. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely garden. Excellent place to holiday. Very peaceful and stunning scenery.
Review 111:The owner Jimmy was very friendly. He gave us a lot of information on what to do and where to eat and never led us astray. The apartment was nice and clean and had all of the mod cons as well as a lovely garden out the back which had deck chairs and a swimming pool.
Review 112:It would have been nice to have a second bathroom for the 4 of us in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Review 113:The owner was very friendly & helpful. The apartment was very comfortable and nicely decorated.
Review 114:Nothing, although the 3 flights of stairs to our top floor apartment got a bit tiring.
Review 115:Jimmy, the manager was an excellent host & could not do enough for us. The old villa has been set up with large, well designed rooms. Very family friendly in a quite location. Best & most relaxing place we stayed in all of Italy, during our 5 week trip in this country.
Review 116:first of all i want to mention about the owner of villa Jimmy.Jimmy is very kind and eager. he explained us everything about the appartment and the area (restaurants, parking, sightseeing etc) with every little detail.he loves what he is doing.the villa is situated on 17th century.stay in villa vinicia is like being in another time.the appartment is modern with nice furnitures ,electrical appliances ,satellite tv ,wifi , warm water any time. tap water is potable with the best taste ever ! villa vinicia is a minute away from the shore , stores , parking. the villa combined with the snowy alps, the village and the wonderful lake view compose a romantic portrait story.
Review 117:We enjoyed every minute of our week at Villa Vinicia. Lovely apartment with big windows overlooking hillside which made for very relaxing evenings. Jimmy & Sonia could not have been more helpful. Free laundry wash (much appreciated with an unwell baby!), fresh bread & croissants delivered to the door each morning, loads of info on things to do in the area, a playroom for the kids. It is a 2 minute walk to the lake & very reasonably priced child friendly restaurants. The street is very narrow but we took the advice from these reviews & parked our big car by the church (for free) & so avoided any problems. We will be back!
Review 118:It was a very spacious totally brand new very clean apartment. Very comfortable and a nice surprise as soon as you walk into the renovated part of the villa! The owner was also so nice and helpful!
