Reviews for Park House Hotel
Review 1:The shower wasn't great
Review 2:Really impressed with hotel. Central to everything train station, bus station, pubs, restaurants and shops. Would definitely recommend this hotel. So much so thinking about booking it again. Staff fab
Review 3:Had a wonderful stay in this hotel before Christmas. The friendliness and helpfullness of the staff was superb. Its like visiting a a favourie friend and you are made to feel as though you are the only customer that they are dealing with. A gem of a hotel in the city centre - No wonder it is so busy and liked.
Review 4:Reception ordered a taxi for us. We had a hospital appointment. The taxi didn't call to say it had arrived, It simply left..Another taxi was called. We were pretty late for our appointment.
Review 5:Excellent staff, helpful in everyway. Hotel not noisy, quiet relaxing atmosphere.
Review 6:Shower pressure a little weak and hairdryer also a little weak.
Review 7:Amazing customer service. Excellent food. Quiet room. We originally booked for three nights but had to cancel the first one at last minute due t weather conditions making it dangerous to drive. The hotel didn't impose a cancellation fee and even fixed it with booking.com to make the last minute change possible - thanks to the lovely Claire in Park House Reservations.
Review 8:No major negatives..... the hotel was quite expensive so we expected something a little bit special but it was just average,we had to park offsite and reception staff seemed like they were on autopilot..Apart from that it was grand, but nothing special..
Review 9:Great location... Nice breakfast..
Review 10:The staff were very professional and took care of us from the moment we arrived. The gentleman on reception was extremely courteous It was our 40th wedding anniversary We were upgraded to a nicer room such a gesture was appreciated My daughter rang and all her requests were adhered to.All the staff in all departments were very attentive We look forward to returning Thank you all
Review 11:Having stayed at the Park House many times, the parking was always complimentary and the car was parked by an attendant, given the small scale size of it etc Quality of Toiletries had disimproved from last stay....Molton Brown was a quality product and its a pity this has been removed Staff could be a little more friendly in the Bar/Dining area
Review 12:Good Location Good Food Clean
Review 13:The parking on site is limited so we had to park in the multi storey beside it.
Review 14:The location is fantastic. Eyre Square was alive with the Christmas market.
Review 15:There was only one small showergel for two people sharing the room. Also, I really wanted a booth for breakfast and was disappointed that it could not be booked eventhough we requested it three times, once when we arrived and twice again. It was my birthday and felt that on occassions like this exceptions could be made. Finally the room we got was a bit small, on previous occassions we were lucky to get a much bigger room.
Review 16:The location is perfect when travelling by train, just accross the road from the station. However if travelling by car the car park is a bit tight. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is excellent.
Review 17:Absolutely beautiful hotel it should be rated as a five star everything about this hotel is wonderful from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you sadly have to leave
Review 18:Hotel needs refurbishment, particularly ensuites. Bad experience when waiting to collect my car keys on Saturday afternoon. Desk left unattended, guy who arrived was young and inexperienced. Manager of the restaurant was a bit dismissive.
Review 19:Staff very friendly helpful and friendly, however there were exceptions.
Review 20:wanted a booth at breakfast and they were SAVING 3 of them until the last minute. Favoritism for guests who had dinner the nite before. Caused bad feelings among us and other couples. Should be first come-first serve ONLY!
Review 21:Great location-nice quiet room-had to pay much more for a fri nite-great lobby for tea and dessert-nice breakfast in the dining room. Halls going to our room were DARK!
Review 22:A waiter took order for bottle of wine to be served in lounge to our group but must have forgotten. I had to go to bar and reorder after waiting quite awhile.
Review 23:Really enjoyed my stay at Park House. Everyone so friendly and efficient. Food delicious.
Review 24:Excellent location, clean and comfortable room, very good staff. Didn't have dinner at the hotel but lunch was delicious and a great value for the $ and breakfast was good.
Review 25:Our room opened to a busy street so there was some street noise, but it wasn't too bad. The guests in the room next to ours came in late and then argued. Their door was noisy and we had to bang on the wall to let them know we could hear them (and we would prefer to have been sleeping).
Review 26:Breakfast was really good. They had nice Irish cheeses and our eggs and bacon and sausage were just as we requested. The bed was probably the best we've had in two weeks of travel. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxed for guests, but staff is very attentive. Definitely more style and class than a hotel - shades of "Downton Abbey"?
Review 27:Could have a bigger range on the bar menu
Review 28:Customer service was very good I left behind a pair of earrings and when I rang about them I had them in the post the next day . Thanks very much , I appreciate the efforts
Review 29:There is nothing I disliked. If I had an observation it would be that the hotel bedrooms were slightly old fashioned and facilities like showers in possible need of renewal at some point soon. If the staff had not been so good I would have been unlikely to stay again
Review 30:Every single member of staff i dealt with was superb! They could not do enough for me!!
Review 31:Expensive at 115 euros for a small room, terrible Internet signal (on second floor), noisey (bottles being sorted/crashing near kitchen/bar below our rooms), and breakfast not included.
Review 32:Great location and food.
Review 33:We stayed in a superior room which was OK but the bathroom could do with some upgrading. Needs better shower pressure, mixer taps in sink, better lighting round mirror. The room information binder provided was for a deluxe room, which initially set the wrong expectations - that would be easy to correct. Overall I'd recommend paying the extra for a deluxe room if you can.
Review 34:Wonderful friendly and efficient staff. Great atmosphere. Perfect location.
Review 35:Leaving
Review 36:Compared to other quality hotels in the area & where parking was extra &/or off-site and breakfast was extra too this hotel was 4 Star and inclusive of the above with on-site porter parking with an excellent v central location. Most impressed.
Review 37:If we would have had a view it would have been perfect.
Review 38:Great traditional hotel. No view from our room, but everything was wonderful. Large room, big bathroom, free parking and great breakfast.
Review 39:Our superior room was a little tired and dated: the shower water pressure was a bit low, towels and sheets were not premium, and the room guide needed updating. But these are minor issues - overall the Hotel is great.
Review 40:Fantastic staff, great atmosphere, excellent food, ideal location
Review 41:Galway traffic. !!! Plus a bit of a shemozzle finding where to park for overseas drivers. Rang through to desk and got directions so all ok in the end.
Review 42:Lovely restaurant and staff. Great location
Review 43:Some of the staff were rude and erupt... clearly didn't like there job and couldn't care less if you were a guest or not.
Review 44:Room service - the food was great! Good location!
Review 45:Hairdryer was in the bathroom so next time i will take my own. Find that type of hairdryer are only useful for men.
Review 46:the ambiance when you walk in .Very welcoming staff excellent service by all staff. The service at breakfast was better than the 5* hotel we had stayed at in Dublin.
Review 47:Bathroom needs updating, shower not very good. Breakfast was unimpressive, not much of selection for 4* hotel, left hungry & disappointed.
Review 48:Staff very pleasant. Good location.
Review 49:Needs some upgrades. It's starting to look a bit shabby and the rooms are very dark. Hated the "king bed", which basically was two twins shoved together with a bulky strip between them.
Review 50:Staff was good, the room was very clean.
Review 51:Smelled like urine, terribly uncomfortable bed and pillows. Around 2AM I took my airplane travel pillow out of my suitcase and slept on that. Our room looked nothing like the photos online - absolutely nothing. Not to mention the far fetched description. My husband was displeased with the hotel selection, so I showed him the photos online so he could see how I was mislead. Definitely pick up Ireland's Blue Book if you are traveling to areas you're unfamiliar with.
Review 52:Close enough to walk to city centre/downtown area
Review 53:The hotel was on the Main Street and you could not park your car outside. Best to get directions to the car park before starting off.
Review 54:We liked the comfort and the old fashioned charm - it was close to the town and ideal for seeing Galway. The interior was superior to the exterior!
Review 55:Shower water pressure could be better.
Review 56:Beautiful hotel with comfortable beds and rooms. We arrived tired from a long drive and were delighted to find a valet who parked our car and took our bags out to our room.(great service. Excellent staff at the desk and in the hotel restaurant, which had amazing food and again great service. Comfy chairs in the lobby to relax in. Galway is a great city and the hotel is located right in the heart of it!
Review 57:may need some entertainment and swimming pool but lovely hotel.
Review 58:great service and cleanliness may need some entertainment and swimming pool but lovely hotel.
Review 59:The cleanliness of the hotel room was not great, there were stains on the cushions/bed runner and the floor wasn't hoovered properly. There was a poor view from our room and it was too warm throughout the night even with the air con on. When we opened the window we could hear the regular announcements from the nearby bus station.
Review 60:All staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 61:Room very stuffy, air con just blowing out cold air, quite uncomfortable night
Review 62:Staff friendly, breakfast good, but not worth €22.50 - what breakfast would be
Review 63:Breakfast was a little overpriced!
Review 64:It was great to have valet parking! That really helped out our party. The staff was very helpful and got us all into our rooms early. The hotel is absolutely beautiful!!
Review 65:I would have liked to have face cloths in the bathroom. Otherwise, all excellent
Review 66:I had a bicycle with me. The gents on the facilities reception desk were more than helpful in ensuring my bike was placed in a secure, safe place for the 2 nights were in the hotel.
Review 67:The room window looked out on to the back of buildings that were not at all attractive. Very bad really. Asked to change rooms and would not accommodate our request.
Review 68:The room was fine, nothing special.
Review 69:Excellent location only around the corner from the train station. A very short walk. Breakfast was great and the staff excellent. Very accommodating. Easy access to bus transportation, restaurants and central located venues. Trad on the Prom was a good entertainment option for a night out.
Review 70:Excellent hotel but very expensive so this would reduce our visits or recommend it to friends or family
Review 71:Staff very friendly and professional from car park attendant reception waitress etc
Review 72:The room on the side of the building was no where near as nice as the room in the front.
Review 73:The staff and breakfast as well as it being in the city center. You couldn't have a better location. It's one block from the train station and both bus stations.
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:Stayed in park house many occasions and always find it to be very professional. Location is so good food always excellent. Met a very nice member of staff on the monday night when we came back to the hotel and had tea and sandwiches it was getting late and she showed no signs of that at all for a young member of staff We all thought she was very pleasant to deal with and could handle herself very well.
Review 76:Did not get breakfast and parking included like others at the hotel and on other sites. This is no reflection on hotel but having to look more carefully at booking.com
Review 77:Bedding, location, cleanliness
Review 78:Very basic room. Rate 3 stars. Very poor room amenities. No bathrobe or slippers. Room very cold as raining & cold weather despite it being summer.
Review 79:Location. Excellent restaurant. Friendly & helpful staff.
Review 80:we ordered room service for breakfast and it was very dissapointing - arrived cold and toast was soggy and eggs not cooked properly - tea/ coffee also cold - when we complained leaving the receptionist only took off the service charge for room but we were still charged for both breakfasts and his reply was we booked through booking.com so couldnt offer refund on breakfast even though we didnt eat it
Review 81:hotel very central
Review 82:We chose to pay with cash and the fact that we did not want nor need to leave a credit card number made us feel like second class citizens also we asked for the keys of the car and we gave our room number but no id was necessary surely a safety issue!
Review 83:The location, the comfort, and cleanliness
Review 84:could use a few updates to the rooms - we had a bit of a strange smell... like a mix between cigarettes, a strong cleaning product, and a little musty.
Review 85:great location if you're not staying long as it's near both bus stations.
Review 86:Drinking water should be provided in the bedrooms. I was annoyed there was none.
Review 87:The supervisor in the breakfast area was excellent. Her manner was superb.
Review 88:Staff was great. No snobbishness. Just friendly and helpful. Thanks especially to Rory at front desk and Bernadette ("Bernie") in restaurant. Best lamb we had in Ireland
Review 89:No bad experience.
Review 90:The staff couldn't do more for us.My Mum suffers from severe arthritis and we were able to park the car right outside the back entrance door to the hotel. The food in the restaurant was one of the best steaks I have ever had.
Review 91:We were on honeymoon and we booked on booking.com for convenience rather than cost. We were put in a small room over looking bus station so could hear announcements, the chair was broken and the shower head did not spray due I think to limescale. We asked to move rooms after the 1st night due to these not very romantic things. The guy on reception was a bit snotty with my husband saying "you only booked through booking.com". He did then ask his superior and we were shown and accepted another and far superior room. Did not leave me with a very good impression, made us feel a bit devalued really.
Review 92:location good, food good, staff (mostly) helpful.
Review 93:2 minute walk to parking garage. Needed GPS to navigate downtown Galway.
Review 94:Clean, nice looking hotel. Short walk to the tourist area with shops and pubs.
Review 95:Road works made it very difficult to get to the hotel but the man on the phone got us there eventually.
Review 96:A very nice place to stay. The staff were terrific, incredibly helpful.
Review 97:Finding the car park for hotel was difficult... Very user unfriendly because of current street construction.
Review 98:Staff, especially the parking attendant were very hospitable and helpful.
Review 99:The streets near the hotel were under construction and the back entrance to the hotel was not easy to find. We had to ask someone and he had to point it out to us.
Review 100:Breakfast was great, staff were superb and helpful. They recommended a pub for dinner across the street and it was very good food. Checking out and their staff getting our car was very easy.
Review 101:This hotel--its staff, its décor, its ambiance, its eateries and its location make for a perfect stay. It is just so comfortable in every way. Hard to leave.
Review 102:Nothing significant
Review 103:Location, location, location. Parking worked well for us in this busy city spot. Room was fine, breakfast very good for large hotel.
Review 104:The beds are too small and the road construction made driving to the hotel nearly impossible.
Review 105:The breakfasts were good and the bar had both good food and drinks. Location made it easy to get to Quay Street, but far enough away to avoid the street noise.
Review 106:Staff were exceptional, Dinner was just first class, attention to detail was impressive and breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in recent times.
Review 107:I love the hotel but the bedroom we got this time was rediiculous ! I asked was this a superior room and was told it was! I felt that as I booked through booking .com I got the smallest room as I have stayed on many occasions and usually book myself and this was the worst room yet! Had all the other rooms had but you had to sit on sofa facing bed with about 1 ft to spare!
Review 108:We went May of 2015 here as quite a bit of construction so it was quite the job to find the trance to the parking garage. Be aware!
Review 109:Location! Food! Bar! Staff! ALL EXCELLENT
Review 110:The 'reserved' parking is a parka de next door you have to park before you check in or you can't get back to parkade No concierge Breakfast very poor
Review 111:Good base for exploring Connemara and Mayo Terrible road works and resulting one way system is a disaster
Review 112:The excellent staff, warm environment, great restaurant/bar, cleanliness, and central location all made for a superbly enjoyable and quality stay.
Review 113:Arrived in the pouring rain, the car park next to the hotel was very easy to find although we walked the long way round to the entrance of the hotel! Very impressed with the decor, the restaurant looked lovely although we didn't eat there. Great location for the Latin Quarter, pubs, shops and restaurants.
Review 114:Not much! We didn't sample the food so I can't comment on that.
Review 115:It was charming, roomy and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 116:The situation was perfect. The staff were superb. nothing was too much trouble for them. They went out of their way to give the best service possible.
Review 117:Not the fanciest place but a great value for the money. Was very comfortable there.
Review 118:The staff at the front desk was very helpful and very friendly. The bellman walked my baggage right down the block to the bus to Dublin and put it into the bus for me. Couldn't ask for more than that.
Review 119:Some aspects of housekeeping were not good. For example, glass in bathroom was not properly cleaned & soap not replaced. Also, the water was turned off last Tuesday morning & no warning was given.
Review 120:Helpful staff @ breakfast & in car park .
Review 121:The personnel. From Laura at the front desk, to the waiter who made us food after the kitchen was closed, to the valet on the parking lot, every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly, beyond expectations
Review 122:It really nothing to do with the hotel, but the road works are a nightmare
Review 123:Nice hotel,I can't believe there is a Dentists surgery on the third floor, random or what?
Review 124:Unacceptable policy about charging a nonsense deposit. Instead of charging the full price of the stay, they did both charge the price and a nonsense deposit which has been taking from my account immediately and it is suppose to be refund in no less than five working days. This policy shouldn't be from a four-stars hotel.
Review 125:De Luxe Room was very nice and spacious with a minibar. Not all rooms have a minibar. Walking distance, 2 minutes from bus and train station. Freshly prepared breakfast with a great choice of hot food and it is not buffet which was great for me. The lady who is in charge of breakfast, is super! Excellent bar and lounge facilities. Great location with 2 nice pub/restaurants, pharmacy and convenient store just in front of hotel. Walking distance to shops and old town.
Review 126:Noise from partying locals, paper walls, bathroom sink water comes unmixed from two tabs, so you would have to fill the sink to get the right water temperature.
Review 127:The restaurant is excellent, the superior double room was of good size.
Review 128:Nothing, our stay was perfect.
Review 129:The staff were so friendly and very helpful, they made our stay fabulous. The food and comfort of the rooms was exceptional.
Review 130:The beds were not particularly comfortable and the room was too warm
Review 131:Staff were so attentive, from the valet parking to checking if we wanted fresh tea and toast I could not fault the hotel or the staff.
Review 132:No bad experience! Went to reception earlier in the day to book, only 1 vacancy at a price of 179E, was very disappointed, checked online and found 5 rooms and got a wonderful room for 105E.
Review 133:Atmosphere totally relaxed no hussle or busses.
Review 134:There was a little noise from below outside bar/kitchen after 11pm but it soon settled down
Review 135:Everything but the staff stood out as being outstanding and couldn't have been more helpful!
