Reviews for May Beach Hotel
Review 1:Breakfast was average, but enough to start the day.
Review 2:Beautiful tranquil setting for pool in garden, quiet and always umbrellas and chairs available. BBQ one night a week worth going to, delicious meat and desserts! and fun with the Greek dance show. Great location, we liked the fact not in Rethymon centre, but a bus ride of approx. 5 minutes. Bus stop a couple of minutes walk down the road from hotel and supermarket with everything across the road. We did bed and breakfast and preferred so we could try some of the lovely restaurants. We would highly recommend 'To Pigadi' for excellent food and lovely setting. Staff very helpful in May Hotel with info on Crete or any excursions. Excellent shopping in Rethymon
Review 3:It's nice enough but too expensive. We paid 150 euro for a family room and it wasnt really nice enough to justify that expence. The fridge in our room did not work and we had dirty water pour down on our balcony from above. The shampoo and shower gel provided were very poor quality.
Review 4:Nice pool and garden. Great breakfast. The pizza at the pool bar was surprisingly good!
Review 5:The hotel was not child friendly which is extraordinarily unusual for Crete and behaviour of the manageress was quite shocking and very impolite in this regard. Our 5 year old ran around the hotel a lot alone which we we found quite normal in Cretan society but no doubt was a nuisance at times but instead of telling us to keep him on a leash she waited till we went down towards the reception one day and made us follow her towards a crowd of guest and shouted in a loud voice saying "your children are noisy and a problem" as if catering to an audience (implying all of them) even though our 16 and 14 year olds were barely ever seen or heard. Very strange and unsettling. It is still a mystery as to her behaviour but we listened silently and went on our way. Another concern for some could be a dominance of German guests who the hotel manageress seemed to go out of her way to exclusively pander to almost shamelessly and obsequiously. We did visit during the recent referendum and crisis. The Cretans otherwise are the most wonderful people with the warmest of hearts and it was a shame that this experience destroyed our stay.
Review 6:Swimming pool
Review 7:Cooked breakfast items generally cold even when just out from the kitchen. No English tour operators providing guests, so very limited opportunity for evening association as other visitors did not seem over friendly. Not ever enough hot water for a bath.
Review 8:Wonderful staff, especially Maria. Lovely grounds with big pool. Greek dancing on Friday night. Good value for money. Comfortable room, and high standard of presentation throughout the hotel.
Review 9:The personal are probably the best personale we have ever seen. The pool are fantastic, clean rooms ang facilities. Very relaxing hotel. Fantastic hotel for a fantasy vacasion.
