Reviews for Cottesloe Beach Hotel
Review 1:Rooms are a little lack lustre for what you pay.
Review 2:Well located. Recommend dining at Cott & Co Restaurant downstairs- great food and wonderful view of the beach, particularly at sunset.
Review 3:Both the room and bed were small for two people. It was called a double but in my opinion, it was a single room. We needed the outdoor terrace to put our things, because we didn't have enough space in the room (without tripping over our bags). Parking was very difficult to find. Parking permits did not exist, even though the guest book in our hotel room said to ask for a parking permit at the front desk, and we were allowed to request "free parking" online. It's a little misleading.
Review 4:Facing the beach. Nice size flatscreen TV and outdoor terrace. Quaint Art-Deco style building.
Review 5:Parking can be tricky. Fish restaurant was OK but probably should have tried the other more up market restaurant in the hotel.
Review 6:We had a queen room with balcony overlooking the wonderful Cottesloe Beach for a small family get together. Had a great swim at the beach followed by champagne on the balcony then went downstairs for dinner and had a window table to watch brilliant sunset. All so easy. The road can be very busy but room was well soundproofed. You really are in the middle of Cottesloe with wealth of cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. Great walking in the morning. Staff good, nothing too much trouble. Hotel is older deco style with a faded elegance. All mod cons, free wi-fi, very hot shower.
Review 7:Difficult to get fresh coffee in the morning. Noisey outside (but it's Xmas so expected). Need block out curtains on the side window.
Review 8:The bed, the view, the verandah, cleanliness.
Review 9:Difficult to get parking, the room was not always cleaned properly, can get a little noisy on weekend nights
Review 10:The location by the beach was perfect & it was a breeze checking in and out... Loved the sound of the ocean & the helpful & polite staff
Review 11:We needed a bit more space for our clothes - a small dresser would have been helpful
Review 12:All of the above especially the location and the balcony and the wonderful sunsets. We also appreciated being able to find an excellent latte on the way to the beach and the morning swim. Location good for touring North and south and also touring Perth
Review 13:Noisy over the weekend due to the bar downstairs and along the corridor. Could have been cleaner, didn't appreciate a lot of someone else's hair all over the bathroom.
Review 14:Great location
Review 15:In the large bar there was only one man trying to serve a full bar resulting in long waits for drinks. His cash float was so limited several customers were given IOUs ??? The rooms are now quite tired.
Review 16:Helpful and pleasant staff, very good location.
Review 17:What's not to like?
Review 18:Situation - as near to the beach as you can get. Good food in the hotel - great fish and chips! Good bar with friendly and helpful staff. A short walk with plenty of places for good breakfasts. Very pleasant and convenient.
Review 19:A number of things need attention, Both doors to the balcony could not be locked, Fire alarm went off twice time during the night, Night Staff checked no??, No secure onsite parking in fact no dedicated parking at all, Only one saucer, Bar fridge not replenished daily, No breakfast available Office not manned until 0800 for early checkout at 0700
Review 20:Rooms were very small and had view of the roof and airconditioning. Rooms were very disappointing and definitely not good value for price
Review 21:Location of hotel
Review 22:Arrived 9pm on a business trip. No staff on reception. Paid full rate. Booked in to a minescule room with a poorly sealed hollow inter room door directly adjacent the bed head. My enthusiatic neighbour and his two female companions who arrived at midnight had a long, loud and energetic night exploring, it seems, every possible human sexual interaction -and were still at it at dawn. There is no sound privacy whatsoever, no insulation in the plasterboard walls -My neighbours may as well have been in the room with me. Checked myself out at 5am. I complained, and was advised that guests are normally warned that the rooms are very noisy. I didn't see that warning on the hotel's web site funnily enough. Had no idea I was checking into a brothel. Tiny, poorly built, noisy rooms that do not meet any standards are not worth $200 per night. Never again.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:Huge thanks to Pravin and Rosie for looking so well after us we had an amazing time at your lovely hotel and we miss it already. Food was also amazing
Review 25:Not really any fault of the hotel, but we had a 10pm flight back to Dubai so the standard check out time of 10am is a little early. They did extend until 12pm for us though free of charge which was much appreciated. Would have been 10/10 but areas/carpets outside of rooms are quite old/dated.
Review 26:The location is the best in Cottesloe right on the best part of the beach. Rooms were excellent value for money. The bar food was great. The receptionist Ebony was superb and very helpful
Review 27:No parking permit as advertised.. No spare pillows/blanket in wardrobe as advertised... Food and rubbish at the top of staircase till 2o/c..... Soaking wet day bed and no replacement... dead moths in room by window.. Windows needed cleaning....
Review 28:Location... Ebony was very polight and friendly Shower
Review 29:Arrived on a busy Sunday, they didn't have parking. Had to park 3 blocks away and carry all my luggage through busy shops etc
Review 30:Fantastic location Staff were friendly
Review 31:The parking was problematic. It was very limited and we weren't given enough information about permits etc. also, there was no information readily to hand concerning breakfast options.
Review 32:Great balcony and view. Pleasant room
Review 33:The bathroom was less than clean with the shower curtain being the MAIN issue....if one is going to allow shower curtains, they should be absolutely free of ANY mildew and mould as should the shower recess. The other issue was when the toilet was flushed whilst another person was showering, the shower suddenly became scalding hot due to the drop in the pressure of the cold water.....a potentially dangerous situation should one be bathing small children in particular.....as it was, my adult daughter was burned slightly and also bruised when she jumped out of the way of the scalding water.....not a good situation .
Review 34:The location of the hotel is absolutely excellent as are the surrounding places to eat.
Review 35:The rooms really small, really really small. Shower hot but space small, and floor slippery. Adjoining room next to us, heard every word, sneeze fart.
Review 36:The location fantastic, The Beach Club and bar fantastic. Parking on the street was good and safe. Staff very accommodating in all areas including bars bars and restaurants .
Review 37:Terribly overpriced in comparison to every other place we've visited.
Review 38:Location was terrific and close to beach.Room was comfortable and lovely bathroom.
Review 39:It was a little loud in the room from the noise of the pub
Review 40:Bed was comfy, shower big and hot, incredible view, pub downstairs had a great atmosphere and delicious food!
Review 41:There was a lot of banging of a door(?) until late at night, but was fine after that it was fine
Review 42:Close proximity to the wedding that we attended in Mosman and it was very clean
Review 43:Lack of parking. There is only 1 street offering unlimited parking and this is mostly taken up by the staff or patrons of the hotel. Otherwise you have to park in a 3 hour bay which is on a time. Inconvenient if you are a hotel guest.. I wouldn't like to get up 3 hourly to move the car.
Review 44:We are from Queensland and would have liked to watch the NRL on the big screen in the bar. No TV and no Foxtel. Also wifi was not worth having
Review 45:Location was excellent. Loved sitting on balcony watching the waves and the sun set
Review 46:located above a pub/restaurant which wasn't made quite clear on the booking website. The room was clean but quite a bit of dust had accumulated on lamps and furniture, maybe due to lack of occupation during the off season?
Review 47:room was comfortable, good size for a short stay, balcony overlooking the esplanade. Hotel located right across the beach.
Review 48:Bingo on Thurs night was very noisy.. During the weekends its noisy the music is loud and you can hear it well in your room!
Review 49:The location is fantastic..
Review 50:Had a cot in our room which was great size and looked good. It was a portable cot with a very very poor mattress I do believe that it actually isn't a mattress in it you are suppose to buy that separately, our baby was kicking and made loads of noices the whole night and it was like a dip where she been sleeping, didn't feel good putting her down there.
Review 51:Nice Staff and nice feel to the room.
Review 52:We had a fire alarm that beeped every minute. After 4 phone calls to reception - the last one (after our return from a 2 hour function at the premises) promising that they would be fixing it in 5 minutes, we removed the smoke alarm from the ceiling and placed it outside.
Review 53:It is close to the beautiful beach.
Review 54:Common parts awful. Poor cancellation policy.Lax checking of mini-bar so last occupants' feast was charged to my credit card after my departure. Needed an international phone call to get corrected.
Review 55:Renovated king room with balcony overlooking beach. Large flat screen TV and free wifi. Many USB charging points so no need for plug adaptors.
Review 56:NOTHING
Review 57:Receptionist was an absolute delight, the room is small but cosy. Second time staying in this hotel & dont worry we will definitely be back!
Review 58:Pillows are super hard, tap water tasted awful (a complimentary bottle would have been nice for the $270/nt room fee), the white room tray we hoped to use for a cheese platter wasn't clean (underneath the protective cover), no in room music options, no parking available (you have to park right up the hill on the street where there's no 3 hour limit).
Review 59:Right across from the beach, rooms have a nice feel, showers are great! Good sized balcony with a view. Comfy bed. No music options in the room unless you bring your own AV cable to plug into the TV but you can borrow and Iphone4 dock from reception.
Review 60:Small room, but big balcony. NO allocated parking! Overpriced, not even breakfast included.
Review 61:Great staff at front desk. Very helpful. Position opposite beach brilliant
Review 62:No parking made the stay incredibly annoying, especially carrying heavy bags a couple of streets. There is no lift either. We had a pram so had to get it/ leave it in the car.
Review 63:We only booked due to the location.
Review 64:Very small room, dust layer underneath bed and on some furniture, cleanliness mediocre. Bar Music on weekends way to loud or non-existent sound insulation - you actually could think the DJ was in our bathroom
Review 65:Fabulous beach across the road, inhouse bar and restaurant, close to train station Cottesloe, great location, very friendly staff and always helpful
Review 66:We didn't like the fact that there was no elevator and we has to carry or 60 pound suitcases up the stairs. No staff member was there to help us. I took us forever.
Review 67:We loved the location.
Review 68:no parking and this area is real busy; there are 14 bedrooms, 11 have balconies, 3 are closets - we had a closet with zero view and so tiny! this had a communicating door and we could hear all the talking next door, so we had to whisper. because there were several of us visiting for a wedding across the road at Indianas, we were enjoying ourselves anyway. just avoid rooms 12, 13 & 14 !!
Review 69:great for people watching
Review 70:Don't book a double room very small and adjoining door means you hear every thing in the adjacent room .Minimal storage space. No where to sit and relax.Bed not changed in eight day stay.
Review 71:Location is fantastic Staff very helpful
Review 72:No bad experience but maybe a little "tired" for the $s we paid but we will still go back ( from NSW).
Review 73:We loved the balcony, view from pub during lunch, proximity to beach and other restaurants. The old style of the hotel makes it a standout in the area.
Review 74:The size of the room was unacceptable for the price charged. The bed was also tiny and very uncomfortable. The carpets looked grubby and in need of replacement. Overall very tired although a younger generation wouldn't probably notice these things.
Review 75:The location is exceptional. Right on beachfront and great for watching the sun set.
Review 76:Noisy room, poor facilities, mini bar very expensive, staff very unfriendly, room with see view are 5 rooms only, so you maybe view on the parking like me. I am very disappointed! Will never come back
Review 77:Very noisy at night until around 10pm - the rooms are above the very popular bar. Wi-Fi was weak. Iron and ironing board were so bad that they were almost unusable. Aircon remote battery was unreadable so the temperature had to be guessed.
Review 78:Great location.
Review 79:My heave suitcase on the stairs - no lift. Very noisy Friday night with bar and street traffic.
Review 80:Location was great, room a little smaller than expected but well appointed and comfortable. fabulous view.
Review 81:Didn't know to expect stairs which was a little tricky as I had an injured ankle.
Review 82:Staff were helpful and prompt to organise solution when access card failed.
Review 83:Only a tiny car park for guests who are staying at the hotel, there was only 2 soft pillows on the bed, the shower went from cold warm scolding and back to cold again, the TV only had 7 network channel and you were unable to try and programme it and the conjoining room meant we could hear EVERYTHING in the room next to us! I have spent less to stay in nicer hotels, would not recommend this hotel to anyone! $225.00 is not worth a double bed, a conjoining room, a horrible shower and nothing to watch! Would have expected more for th money we spent.
Review 84:We enjoyed that we were close to our christmas party.
Review 85:The rooms are right above the bar, and music plays all night, and is very loud and noisy. I think somewhere on the website the Hotel should state this. We probable would not have stayed there if we had been made aware of it.
Review 86:The Position was great - right across the road from the beach, plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Review 87:Small rooms No TV service. One station. Have stayed in this hotel 3 times and always the same. They will tell u it is the weather . It is enough I won't stay again.
Review 88:Location Cott and co restaurant in the hotel Bed was comfortable
Review 89:The staff were rude on a few occisions. The hot and cold taps in the shower were labeled the wrong way around. When we turned the tap that said hot. It was freezing cold, leaving us to have a cold shower. We rang the manager and she told us we were wrong and left. The bar staff also had no personality. The rooms were just big enough to fit the beds in. So small and crampy. The tv also had a total of three channels to choose from. Not impressed with the stay for the price you pay.
Review 90:Location. Received a bottle of wine for free, however this was due to structural work being done at 7am.
Review 91:It's noisy and expensive but it can afford to be! The office is very erratically manned but the staff are very friendly and trusting, you do not expect the type of services you get in a traditional hotel
Review 92:This is a uniquely attractive beach hotel just 8km south west of Perth City Centre. The decor is great, the rooms are very comfortable the food and beers are just great. I loved it!
Review 93:Very, very noisy both from the pub underneath the rooms (live doof-doof music until late and it was only a Wednesday night) and from outside traffic. No dedicated parking. We had the "king suite" on the corner of the building. Mattress and pillows really need upgrading. Pillows almost solid from use.Surprisingly the bathroom was nicely appointed with an excellent shower.
Review 94:Unbeatable location opposite the beach is the draw card. Nice restaurants in the hotel precinct.
Review 95:No breakfast facility Booked early and asked for a sea view room but didn't get. No staff outside early / late hours Arrived early in Perth early and waited almost 4 hours to get into my room.
Review 96:Location is excellent Bar was lively and food generally good.
Review 97:Little bit too small bed for 2.... No parking place even for takingluggage beside frontline hotel doors on sundays after 4pm (to mondaysmornings) - penalty risk 150 aud even for 5 min.luggage taking!!!Cottesloe rangers are working for discouraging to visit the town in thefuture....
Review 98:Location, nice and helpful staff, wifi, free parking voucher onparking nr 2.
Review 99:It is a hotel, with entertainment and bars and is therefore extremely noisy. Some patrons once drunk are very disorderly and rude in the street. Parking can be a problem particularly on weekends. There is no reception after 4pm. The room was mediocre and the duvet heavily stained. I think just be prepared for a not so good place but the location will make up for it. I have stayed in places of similar good location that don't charge the high prices at this hotel.
Review 100:The location. Opposite the beach and directly to the western setting sun.
Review 101:Noisy stairwell, and lots of noise from the street. Difficult to have a great rest. Rooms comfortable although small.
Review 102:Really close to the beach. Lots of entertainment nearby.
Review 103:the fact that the pictures did not match up to the real thing. room was tiny and we the picture shows the big corner balcony which of course we did not get. very dissappointed.
Review 104:Naturally it was in a perfect location
Review 105:Noise from bar downstairs was annoying. Could here the fridge doors slamming over and over. Room wasn't clean when we checked in. We were asked to wait until the room was cleaned. The bed was made so we left our bags in the room and went downstairs. When we came back to the room late in the evening, we discovered the sheets were dirty. The bed was made but not changed! Yuk! The walls were also paper thin and we could here every word the couple in the next room were saying through the adjoining door. I think if we had clean sheets, the rating would have been higher. Very unpleasant night!
Review 106:Fantastic location. Rooms were very small (we were attending a wedding, so we booked a small room as we were only sleeping there) but nicely appointed and newly renovated.
Review 107:Well, didn't know there was a pub right under the rooms where a dj plays the Fridays and Saturdays away.... Only solution is to get up and go dancing until the bar closes. In general, very pricey hotel for what it is.....location makes up for it though....
Review 108:Cottesloe is a great location to enjoy the sea and bike to Perth and Fremantle. In hotel, there is a great restaurant: Cott & Co.
Review 109:The noise from the outdoor area at the back of the hotel but to be fair it did stop by eleven thirty pm.
Review 110:We could see the Indian Ocean from our balcony. Very relaxing. Comfy bed, modern bathroom. Room a bit small but the balcony roomy with table and chairs. Plenty of food available within the hotel and nearby.
Review 111:noise at night: we knew it was lively and the restaurant and bar are fun, but probably good we were there only for one night
Review 112:efficient across from the beach
Review 113:This is a Hotel, so noise is an issue from the bar music until 10pm on weekdays and midnight on Friday and Saturdays. The rooms are also not very soundproof and it is a very creeky old building. While on the surface the rooms look clean, not very clean carpets, balcony was filthy with rubbish from the last tenant still there. Duvet stained, shower moldy.
Review 114:The Balcony has a fantastic view over the ocean and great for watching sunsets. The location is near restaurants, shops and a 5 minute walk to the train station to Perth.
Review 115:price of the room was very much over the top for what we received. we have stayed here before, but I don't believe we would again.
Review 116:food was excellent. service also and staff service to customers great. views are really good.
Review 117:No outlook from my room Shower curtain was inexplicably insufficient Room was adequate but had no frills
Review 118:Location is good Food facilities good for evening meals Bar selection is good
Review 119:Bar staff, not very hospitable at all, particularly after all the other staff were so amazing!!!!
Review 120:The accommodation and restaurant staff were so lovely. I had a small TV issue, but they made up for it 10 fold.
Review 121:Made a booking through Booking.com - was in a tiny back room with a very small window and bathroom, certainly not what was advertised. TV had one channel, shower ran all over the bathroom floor wetting clothes, noise from refrigeration fans all night, view of the back stairs and roof, one staff member apologised to us for having to sleep in that room! They blame Booking.com - won't be using it again, or staying at this motel.
Review 122:Fabulous location, great food.
Review 123:Room was very small, very noisy fridge. Very noisy bar down stairs. There was no hotel parking available an d the nearby car park has a 3 hour parking limit. Street parking was simply not available on a Friday night as bars and restaurants were full. Staff suggested we park in a public car park about two blocks away that was very open and did not appear particularly safe place to leave car overnight. Parking would be a big issue over summer so good location if you don't need a car.
Review 124:Location was right next to the beach and great restaurants nearby
Review 125:The room renovations are visually appealing but cheaply done. There is a motley collection of cheap plastic and wire hangers in the cupboards. Housekeeping did not replace items from the minibar daily, or at all over the three day stay. The sea view was marred by the dirty glass in the sliding doors.
Review 126:The location is fantastic, with beautiful views from the sea facing rooms. It's a lovely old building that has been sensitively maintained and upgraded.
Review 127:Needs more pillows and no hot water one morning
Review 128:Location
Review 129:Room small but comfortable
Review 130:Location across the road from the beach.
Review 131:Room to small no service street noise no beach towel one pillow reach access bar fridge difficult
Review 132:Near beach
Review 133:Small bedrooms.
Review 134:Great location, nice bar and restaurants. Balconies with sea view
Review 135:no elevator. nowhere to put my suitcase the room was too small . not all channels on the TV.
Review 136:the location, the staff,
Review 137:Very overpriced for the size and type of room and no breakfast
Review 138:The bed a little too hard.
Review 139:Perfect location for the Open Water Series. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food options.
Review 140:No parking, had my car broken into. Basic amenities.
Review 141:Nice rooms and good view of the ocean (queen room).
Review 142:Double bed rooms very small
Review 143:Location was exceĺlent
Review 144:Room was the size of a ships cabin; could hardly move.
