Reviews for Holiday Inn Sittingbourne

Review 1:The quality of some of the staff and the food has declined sharply after being taken over recently. This used to be one of our favourite hotels in the area for our work, but not any longer.

Review 2:Nice building. Good car park. Pleasant rooms.

Review 3:No complimentary toiletries Shower flooded into bedroom every time it was used Items missing from room service order- although we didn't complain about this at the time, it was only vegetables & milk Saddened that restaurant was closed on 1st january Lifts very small - especially as im a wheelchair user

Review 4:Staff were excellent - especially Angela on reception - she was knowledgable & helpful throughout our stay all the time being very friendly & professional

Review 5:Just the breakfast was a little hard but we didn't go to breakfast til 9.40

Review 6:The whole thing. Reception staff were warm friendly & very helpful especially as we arrived late on sunday they helped us in finding food & made us most welcome

Review 7:The room took ages to warm up, the kettle was faulty, the bath taps and shower were faulty as well as the bathroom light switch being next to the window rather than by the actual bathroom door, the toilet took three attempts to flush! No remote for the television, no plugs by the bed and obnoxious patronising staff member checked us in.

Review 8:Bed was comfortable

Review 9:Great location, rooms were spotless and modern, the bathroom was lovely, spacious and well equipped . We were greeted by friendly staff on arrival and checked in efficiently and quickly. Plenty of space to park. The bar is modern with friendly staff. Fabulous place for a great price - highly recommended.

Review 10:We weren't so keen on the opaque bathroom walls, not very good privacy. The receptionist tried to over charge us by about £63. I queried the bill with her, she reworked it and came back with my more expected figure. Also, I think if there is due to be a wedding or party on the night you book, it may be a good idea to inform new bookers before they book as the music was extremely loud.

Review 11:We loved the size of the room, the size and comfort of the bed and the fabulous breakfast.

Review 12:We were unable to use the dining room as there was a function two nights running, which kept us awake till 1A M both nights, So had to make do with bar snacks, but were told the first night (Friday) that the bar would be having a do? At 7P M and no food after that. Breakfast was a buffet (not what you expect from best western) more in the vein of holiday in or travel lodge. A C units on the roof vibrating all the time, rooms are small and a glass enclosure around the toilet and bath???the rest was just bad house keeping externally.

Review 13:Room was VERY cold on arrival. Took at least 2 hours to warm up. Very difficult to get water warm enough to bath in, but managed eventually after a lot of effort. Never managed to get water hot enough for a shower - gave up. Function room was so cold I had to change into Jeans and jumper. Even the men in dinner suits complained. We asked several times for the air con to be turned down, but it made no difference.

Review 14:The room was very clean and spacious, almost like a suite; was very pleasing to the eye. Modern decor.

Review 15:First room (which we changed) smelt intermittently of drains, had loud air-conditioning, and glass bathroom door cracked ominously on opening and closing. Bar food when it finally arrived was tough & overcooked. Fish could have been fresher. Chef had started that day. Decor appeared tired.

Review 16:Nice breakfast. Friendly front of house staff. Readily offered us fresh room (which was OK) when we complained about the first room, and a free drink each when we complained about the bar food. They explained place about to be refurbished and change from Best Western to Holiday Inn.

Review 17:Saturday night was noisy until late due to a function

Review 18:Friendly helpful staff especially the night porters Comfy bed clean room good wifi Lots of choice at breakfast

Review 19:Bathroom. Toilets too low if you have any disability such as weak legs, also didn't flush well, the shower was more suitable for men. Lack of natural light for applying make up as windows too small. But would be fine for a man.

Review 20:Staff and facilities were excellent. Food in restaurant and bar also excellent. Apart from the bathroom and windows it is a very nice comfortable hotel. I would go again.

Review 21:Overcrowded car park. Disappointing quality of porridge at breakfast.

Review 22:Ease of access. Contemporary style of the building. Friendliness of reception staff.

Review 23:Hotel's alarm was activated five times in two different days without reason and nobody explained why Same breakfast every day

Review 24:Excellent price Good staff Excellent accomodations

Review 25:Cleanliness of room was very poor dispite 3 requests to clean the carpet. The guest lift is constantly dirty an shared with BOH staff and maintenance persons. Housekeeping are noisy from 7.00am onwards. Noisy and slamming of guest room doors from very early on each morning. A party started at 12.00pm and finished on the guest room floor at 2.00am. The staff although apolegtic did not seem to action or care.

Review 26:Very little.m

Review 27:Inflexibility of restaurant - only four tables occupied yet informed we could not have a table for 30 minutes Room carpets needed to be cleaned

Review 28:Modern decor, well located

Review 29:The larger room didn't have a window and the toilet had zero privacy with see through frosted glass surround. We got persuaded to have breakfast at the hotel but it was awful, felt like a canteen and the food was overcooked and cold.

Review 30:We got an upgrade to a larger room

Review 31:Fire alarm in the middle of the night which wasnt a real one. Emergency tannoy in the room during the day (again a fault). Water pressure not great. Rooms very dark due to lack of windows.

Review 32:Beds were extremely comfortable and the hotel staff were friendly and amenable.

Review 33:We were told on arrival that if we pre-booked breakfast it was £9.95 each and the kids eat free. When our friends arrived they were told the same price for adults but the kids were £1, still good but just not clear? In the morning one of the staff said I thought the kids were £5 each....In the end we wasn't charged but we felt there was no consistency and depended on who you got. I would not have been happy if we got charged and others didn't.

Review 34:The room was amazing, usually sharing a room with two young children is crowded but not here. The beds were enormous, clean we were so impressed and couldn't praise it more.

Review 35:Our TV wasnt working and couldnt be fixed by staff member, wasn't a problem because we stayed in the bar but should of been offered a spare i think

Review 36:We had a deluxe double room. Huge bed, huge bath and a really good shower

Review 37:The safe in our room didn't work but the staff tried to fix it which we appreciated. Skipped the hotel breakfast because it seemed a bit pricey and we preferred a lie-in but the 10-minute walk to the local wetherspoons was well worth it.

Review 38:Travelled with my boyfriend and had a truly relaxing time at the hotel. A minor issue with the laundry but the staff did everything to make us feel welcomed and relaxed. Jon at the reception was fantastic; very helpful and knowledgeable went above and beyond.

Review 39:Very noisy hotel lots of drunk people celebrating a big fat gypsy wedding. The room was to warm and to dark. Very tiny window with no view at all.

Review 40:Free parking

Review 41:Drink prices.£5.25 for a glass of red wine and being charged £3.00 for a bowl of cashew nuts, other bars give complimentary nuts with a glass of wine. The position of the kettle, lead had to be removed every time you filled a cup.

Review 42:The bar food was very good. Room service food was good too. Glad there was typed instructions as to the electrics in the room.

Review 43:Door into room did shut quietly. Whilst bathrooms were beautify designed spaces around door did not give give complete privacy

Review 44:Very helpful and friendly staff. Comfort and well fitted rooms . Cleanliness and great variety and choice at breakfast

Review 45:Our room although lovely was on the noisy main road even though we had made a request for a quiet room and therefore didn't get much sleep. After mentioning this to the Manager on checking out, he kindly waived the cost of our breakfast. We would stay here again but hopefully will get a quieter room next time. Staff very helpful.

Review 46:Lovely room

Review 47:Water in wash basin only came out as a trickle. 10.5 tog duvets in August! Level of service from staff variable especially in restaurant.

Review 48:Easy to access with lots of parking. Lots of choice for breakfast in pleasant dining area.

Review 49:We had a wedding to go to locally& it was an ideal place to stay. This is the fourth time we have stayed here & any time we have to come to Sittingbourne it will always be our first choice.

Review 50:We didn't have a bad experience

Review 51:We didn't find fault with anything although we only stayed one night without the need for meals. We were pleased that with the shower in the bath, there was a rubber bath mat to prevent slips. Not all hotels appear to have these available

Review 52:I had asked for an upgrade, to accommodate an extra bed for a friend, but was not able to find out if this had been accepted until I arrived. Obviously this made it hard for my friend to plan.

Review 53:The room was splendid and the bed very comfy. I was able to relax, which was much needed.

Review 54:The beds were to uncomfortable, the toilet toilet was glass and didn't lock and the toilet flushes in all the rooms for our party were extremely stiff and did not work well

Review 55:Location and modern feel of the hotel

Review 56:Our room overlooked a sort of service area and between the noise of the fans, the bins and the cleaning staff we were woken up earlier than we would've liked.

Review 57:The staff were very friendly and helpful from the start and made us feel very welcome. The hotel was very clean and modern with a designer feel. Our room was lovely, nice big bed and a great power shower. The frosted glass wall between the bathroom and the main sleeping area, put with the frosted glass bathroom door that didn't close properly, could be a little uncomfortable for some people but gave us a great laugh! Overall a lovely hotel.

Review 58:The room was relatively small with a very modern design that just isn't practical. For example (1) the wash basin is very shallow and turning on the tap can result in water on the flloor and (2) the bathroom light switch is controlled by a control panel and switch next to the room door - I couldn't figure out how to turn it off - when resolved it meant traipsing to the room door to turn this light on or off - ridiculous - what's wrong with a bathroom light switch!!

Review 59:Comfort of the bed

Review 60:Entrance is round the back so drove past it then went into front then saw sign to go up the road and round the back

Review 61:Really clean and comfortable good air con as well

Review 62:Over priced, had to pay more if we wanted breakfast, glass walls and door on bathroom were very indiscreet, felt like being in a goldfish bowl and everything could be heard. Humming noise outside went on all night, sounded like a generator? Toilet didn't flush very well

Review 63:Spotless hotel, comfy bed, blackout blinds,

Review 64:Derby liked drench shower head, Joan did not - prefers telephone type of shower head. No "makeup" light above mirror for Joan

Review 65:Good sized, clean, well appointed and designed room. Air conditioning.

Review 66:When we couldn't find we rang but the phone number was wrong on the information we had been given.

Review 67:The room was big and very well decorated. Liked the electric blinds

Review 68:There was a continual noise of a motor running above the room, the reception said it was air conditioning or extractor fan.

Review 69:Very clean and comfortable. Staff very good.

Review 70:10 pound each for breakfast was not good value for money considering there was not much choice of food

Review 71:Free wifi and bathroom was very nice with very good facilities

Review 72:The bathroom was dirty, the toilet needed to be clean and a hair was in the bath, the bed was hard and uncomfortable. And other guests could hear them through the walls.

Review 73:Overall the look of the hotel was lovely but as we got to our room was a bit dirty, found a hair in a bath also.

Review 74:Blinds broke on first day. Pretty expensive

Review 75:fixed blinds the next day, guy at front desk was ace. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.

Review 76:The toilet in the room had no lock and there were gaps between the door. I was travelling with my wife so this wasn't a major issue, however, it was off putting. The entrance to the Hotel was difficult to find and we drove past at first.

Review 77:The staff were very helpful, although there was a lack of staffing at the bar on the Saturday night due to the Rod Stewart tribute concert. The Hotel was very clean.

Review 78:Two of our three rooms were in close proximity to what we assume were the air conditioning units. They were so noisy some of our party were unable to sleep and complained. They were offered an alternative room but this was just as noisy.

Review 79:Great staff. Clean rooms and common areas. The guy that set up our cot bed could not have been nicer.

Review 80:Air-conditioning, spacious room, great shower, easy car parking, working wifi (I arrived late and checked out early next morning so did not try food, bar or breakfast). Everything was fine. Was initially a bit worried when I arrived to see a school prom in full swing but the event was managed well and I was not disturbed.

Review 81:Breakfast was slow with things coming out and so had to eat in stages also had to ask for things like some orange juice, bread for toast and as one of us is veggie the veggie options at all like mushrooms and eggs! at nearly £10 a head it was a pain to keep bugging people for things

Review 82:Great big room and location for visiting family.

Review 83:Nothing - all good

Review 84:I booked this hotel for my daughters wedding night - after booking on line I rang the hotel to book them breakfast and to say they will not arrive at the hotel till aprox -1am - your staff gave us a complimentary breakfast which was very appreciated and when I picked them up the next morning they said room and facilities and staff was very good - thank you

Review 85:The only let down was when ordering room service at half 1 in themorning we were called back asking for our credit card details to"check that we had enough money in your account"!!! Highlyoffended and very inconvenienced therefore we cancelled room service andordered a takeaway instead! Staff should have taken card details oncheck in or stored them from the booking.

Review 86:The modern aspect of the room The cleanliness The privacy

Review 87:Noise from a wedding which went on until after midnight spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Review 88:The staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and well furnished and the bathroom facilities worked well. The hotel was beautifully furnished and decorated and the breakfast had a good variety of food on offer.

Review 89:my only gripe is I ordered a cocktail at the bar, but no cocktails were served :-(

Review 90:A member of staff by the name of Renata was very friendly and helpful. a lovely lady :-)

Review 91:Not a bad experience but thought breakfast was a bit expensive therefore chose to have elsewhere

Review 92:Excellently furnished comfortable room, extremely clean, helpful staff and good food.

Review 93:The room was clean and modern. My only gripe (and it could have been rectified if I'd have mentioned it was that the TV was not tuned properly) Otherwise it was faultless it even had air con that worked!

Review 94:rubber bathmat was not clean atmosphere at restaurant not very cosy

Review 95:parking close to hotel - excellent bed - excellent shower - good quality of the linen - wifi speed

Review 96:The potatoes (not chips as described) that came with the steak had maggots holes in them. No shampoo in the bathroom.

Review 97:Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.

Review 98:Although it didn't matter much to us, we had an internal room with a brick wall as the view from our window. Toilet seat broken and flush difficult to operate.

Review 99:Modern, clean and with good air conditioning on one of the hottest nights of the year.

Review 100:I only had a continental breakfast but had to pay the same as those having a cooked meal. A two tier payment system would be fairer

Review 101:The staff were all pleasant and helpful. I had to work in the evening and had arrived quickly and was fine. Breakfast was fine

Review 102:Poor customer relations from one staff member, and rats in evidence from room window coming into hotel from neighbouring property that looked like a scrapyard with yapping dogs

Review 103:not a lot

Review 104:Ridiculous glass bathroom / toilet with door that stops 20 cm clear of the floor not only means that if you go to the loo in the night not only do you have to light up the whole of the room but any noises and or smells also spread throughout the whole room - hardly romantic.

Review 105:The hotel had a wedding reception on and when we returned at aound 11pm it was very noisy with guests everywhere. The function room seemed to spill out into the reception and it did not give a good impression of the hotel. Also we were not told that if we did not book breakfast in advance it would cost an extra £2 each. We were also hassles at the breakfast table with our bill.

Review 106:Good location with plenty of parking and very clean

Review 107:Doors were loud closing, the soft close no longer works. The breakfast was awful and must have been sat there for hours, with what was left, very little choice, this was at 9.30am. Bathrooms had no privacy from the room, which meant going to the toilet was shared with the room.

Review 108:The air conditioning was not working, staff tried to solve, bought us up a fan to cool the room.

Review 109:The room was beautiful, the staff were very polite and courteous, our overnight stay was very comfortable.

Review 110:Could do with some more facilities onsite like a swimming pool etc

Review 111:It's a very central locations so you can walk into town or to the shops. Food was lovely and lots of choice Staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 112:Only negative side of stay was as quoted above not sure on frosted partition

Review 113:Staff were nice and friendly, room clean and spacious not sure about the frosted glass partition for bathroom

Review 114:Beds not very comfortable. En-suite bathroom facilities rather strange with frosted glass sectioning as opposed to a separate bathroom

Review 115:Very clean. Secure access to hotel rooms

Review 116:our room was at the back of the hotel and there was a constant dull groan, presumably from the external air conditioning system. Staff were helpful and something was done to stop the noise. However at 6am the noise started up again.

Review 117:The only thing is the glass door to the bathroom - it's a swing door with no lock facility. Quite dangerous really and a large gap underneath which means sounds travel from room to bathroom and vice versa.

Review 118:Staff helpful and polite. Very friendly. Stay was enjoyable.

Review 119:We had to endure club music whilst trying to have a romantic dinner and take a walk around the grounds. They put party guest's on the same floor as us therefore we had to listen to the banging of doors, shouting, fighting (right outside or door) at all hours of the morning. To top it off the air conditioning was stuck at high and couldn't open the Windows. Not much sleep for us that night and we had a long drive the following morning. VERY DISSAPPOINTING considering the price we paid. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK

Review 120:Noticed the sign to the entrance too late so ended up in wrong part of hotel initially.

Review 121:Service at bar where we enjoyed a bar meal as the resturaunt was closed due to bank holiday

Review 122:Windows that don't open

Review 123:Nice architecture - didn't pretend to fit onto the old, original hotel. Clean. Bar good suprisingly good(no restaurant on a Sunday)

Review 124:Shortage of hot drink supplies and woken up a few times by the noisy room doors closing, and the pedestrian access is poor.

Review 125:Comfortable bed and excellent shower

Review 126:No view except a wall a few feet away, little natural light making the room claustrophobic with very little air flow event with the window open fully, and that was an upgraded executive room. Value for money quite poor. Restaurant closed Sunday evening so had to make do with rather a mediocre bar meal.

Review 127:Modern, clean, comfy beds and nicely decorated.

Review 128:Check in was fine ! however waited 15 min to get served at the bar ! gave up on ordering food!

Review 129:Bedrooms are very swish dim lights roller blinds on windows and great shower

Review 130:The moment I walked the lady on reception made my stay great before I even had got to my room Debbie was very help full and polite a great asset to the hotel

Review 131:Only fault was, that the bathroom extractor fan was going all one night, reported it to the receptionist, it was done and back to normal that day, other than that, all was good.

Review 132:We found this Hotel excellent for what we needed, not to far from the M2/M20 motorways.

Review 133:I booked the more expensive executive room for me and my partner and looking at what was advertised qas quite happy to do so but the room we actually ended up with was what looked like the cheaper standard room but i wasnt all that botherd but on the last night of our stay we ordered room service and when the food came up it was again not as advertised and was luke warm. I ordered the scampi with home made tar tar sauce and when it came up there wasnt any sauce (silly picky things i know but for the money paid expected better) i personally wont stay again

Review 134:Staff where friendly room was comfortable

Review 135:light didn't work and was flickering. lots of noise in the middle of the night. fire alarm went of early morning

Review 136:nice place shower was nice bed was comfy. very nice looking room.

Review 137:Limited choices on menu for fixed price menu.

Review 138:Staff top quality, thoughtful and considerate. Room small but had all we required, possibly upgrade next time.

Review 139:Restaurant was cold and low music would have improved the atmosphere. Vegetables were cold. Lighting and air conditioning in the room was too clever for me. Lighting not flexible enough. The opaque bathroom door and that it does not lock.

Review 140:That the hotel is contemporary. The restaurant menu is interesting. The bathroom facilities are good. Liked the cosmetics containers. Good coffee at breakfast. Salmon nicely cooked at evening meal. Very pleasant reception staff.
