Reviews for Blackheath Holiday Cabins
Review 1:very out dated, one bathroom tiles in poor repair, booked online for 6 people, when arrived beds not made - told there was an extra charge for linen. At the address given there was no one had to ask neighbours where to get the key from
Review 2:plenty of room with very large living area, 2 bathrooms
Review 3:The facilities were horrible. Wasn't satisfied at all, they were very very dirty, equipment didn't work well and the beds had no sheets on them at all and the furniture was very uncomfortable.
Review 4:Good Location to the town, had a nice view, nice and succluded.
Review 5:The cabin was not child friendly and absolutely filthy. I have never stayed in any accommodation in such a disgusting condition. I have attached an image of a corner in the living space. There were food splats all over the kitchen, dirty window sills, the place smelt of dust and mildew, the towels and linen had stains. There was unfinished painting, spider webs, dirt and grime and dust everywhere. We felt uncomfortable and I was worried about what the kids were touching.
Review 6:The location is good. Shower pressure was great even though it was dirty. Cabin was a good size.
Review 7:Unit 3 - The bunk beds had good mattress and support. The single bed was useless (it dipped almost to the floor). Mature people find it hard to get to top bunk. Although we plan to return some time, I would not if there were not 2 comfortable beds on floor(ie not top bunk)
Review 8:One couple and two individuals (mature aged) enjoyed the common space and balcony; the quiet, and sense of bush closeby.
Review 9:I had 5 kids and a husband and they accommodated us easily with beds left over. vents in the floor were like awesome heaters on every room and I enjoyed it. It was like reliving my childhood. Thanks for a memorial 1st family holiday.
Review 10:First we arrived at the cabin to then have to call to find out where to check in to be told that its not even on site then had to pay extra for linen on the kids beds as that apparently isnt included in the price even though we paid for 5 to sleep there. The lady was not very helpful as we werent told anything it was like we were 'meant to know'no map of the area or recommendations were made. But the worse part was how dirty the cabin was our daughter suffers really bad asthma and the dust was enough to set us all off. I therefore had to clean the place before she could stay in there.. overall i would not recommend this place or go there again.
Review 11:It was freezing cold. Gas heaters not effective to warm house, no wood supplied, only wood to be found was $$ at local grocery store. All the walls were dirty, furniture old outdated, bunk bed was wobbly and unstable. Kitchen was dirty. No notice on website that keys were to be picked up at local pub. Outdoor area could be made very nice with not a lot of effort, but obviously no effort has been put into this place in a long time. Would possibly be able to put up with all other issues in spring/summer when the tiny cabin isn't an icebox
Review 12:Location was nice. Like the backyard area.
Review 13:The combustion fireplace did not work correctly (fire went out) unlessyou left the door open, handle to the main bedroom door was broken wasunable to close door without being locked into bedroom, kitchenfacilities were of bare minimum, lounge was ripped and uncomfortable, although there was an electric blanket on the beds the quilt covers wereextremely thin needed to put two blankets over quilt cover to stay warm& on arrival and departure I was simply handed keys, there was no idor reservation code needed (I could have been anyone off the streetsaying I have reserved this particular place to be given the keys)
Review 14:They had electric blankets on the bed.
Review 15:There was no wood provided for the fire on the coldest weekend of the year. The gas fire was not strong enough to keep the cabin warm. One side of the toilet seat was detached from the toilet bowl.
Review 16:The electric blankets!
Review 17:It was affordable and had everything we needed. The cabin was in a great location and the heating was great, we were comfortable . The owners were lovely to deal with. There was a BBQ area that was fenced and the kids could kick a ball and play outside
Review 18:Having to pick up key from pub and finding someone to return key to at 10-00 am
Review 19:Convenient Location with great log burner, needs a bit of TLC and touch up but price is in the right range for what you get .
Review 20:Maybe warmer heating system ( though we do realize it was the Blue Mountains in winter. Electric blankets GREAT. Wood fire great just not much firewood.
Review 21:Great back yard for kids to rum around in and play.
Review 22:No comment needed.
Review 23:Very comfortable stay. Not fancy but good value, clean and safe. Some attention to things like the number of eating utensils would be helpful but no issues really. Very relaxing place to stay.
Review 24:2 lightbulbs had blown and no spares were on hand to replace them. Fortunately we relocated the lamp from the Main bedroom to the other bedroom for the kids. They really should mention to bring your own wood to use in the fireplace.
Review 25:Very quiet, excellent gas heater in lounge plus fireplace option. Beds were fine with electric blankets on all of them. Refurbished bathroom was fine too.
Review 26:No heaters in bedrooms so very cold (stayed here in May)
Review 27:good location - easy access to main sites, especially Grose Valley; wood stove (stayed in cabin 1); nice picnic area; kitchen & microwave
Review 28:There was no explanation at all about the check in process; there is no reception at the cabins but we were lucky enough to find a fellow guest who directed us to the bottleshop at the hotel in Blackheath. The heating is good but only in the kitchen/dining area so the bedrooms are cold, though electric blankets are provided. The location is good but the cabins are noisy; there are shared walls and the plumbing is loud. Also, without a 'presence' on the site some of the guests arriving late at night were rowdy and inconsiderate.
Review 29:Value for money, size of cabin.
Review 30:Electric blanket on main bed did not work properly Not as clean as it could be eg dirt under furniture, window blinds also dirty
Review 31:size of cabin and quiet location
Review 32:no microwave, bunk unstable, carpet infested with fleas, never cleaned while we where there, no welcome pack. tolet got blocked, no vacum to clean with, other units filled with work men and work truck, would have left but had to pay in advance, chairs in lounge uncomfortable, heating was a joke had to buy a fan heater
Review 33:nothing
Review 34:Had to pickup the key from hotel bar and found the experience uncomfortable.
Review 35:Good size for large group of people travelling. Well maintained, crisp clean, nice BBQ facility. Good value for money. We would definitely be returning.
Review 36:No air-con or even a fan, & it was hot & stuffy inside on a hot day. Not exactly the cleanest place we've stayed. Cabins have seen better days. Pillows were very uncomfortable - BYO your own bedding (including pillows) BYO everything you will need, there are no complementaries here. Fridge didn't seal closed properly. Overall, you get what you pay for. Don't expect too much from this budget accommodation & you wont be terribly disappointed.
Review 37:Room for everyone. Seperate bedooms & living space. New-ish bathroom. It was cheap.
Review 38:Pick-up of the key is at the pub. Would be easier for visitors to know this rather than simply noted as the address of the pub - i.e. .collect key from the Bar Staff at the pub. No microwave in cabin.
Review 39:The cabin was good size for our family (2A & 2C). Quiet yet handy location. Suited us as we were doing the tourist spots and only used cabin for resting.
Review 40:No fire wood for fire, didn't bother us too much we used the gas heater but if you were looking forward to the wood fire you might have been disappointed
Review 41:Despite other bad reviews it was clean and tidy, and had pretty much everything we needed. The bathroom looked newly renovated. the rest of the cabin was older but good for the money, and clean. There were also lots of spare blankets for the beds.
Review 42:Heater was too small for the size of the room, very little wood and no matches for the fireplace
Review 43:Spacious, economical, friendly and efficient key collection and drop off location
Review 44:Kitchen was filthy. Carpet and lounge coverings was disgusting so the whole place felt filthy. Cottage was old and badly maintained. You had to go to a pub to get the key so there was no one interested in any sort of complaint, and we had paid for 3 nights in advance? The photos and description was not representative of the actual cottage. We believed we were getting a cottage with a fireplace, but at least what heating was there was sufficient.
Review 45:Central heating worked. One bathroom had been refurbished. Room enough for two families as slept 10.
Review 46:In cabin nr 2 some windows couldn't close properly what made it very cold in the bathroom and second bedroom. Using the woodheater is essential to make it pleasant warm. Little gas stove is not enough.
Review 47:Main bedrooms (cabin 1 and 2 ) are excellent. I liked the electrical blankets. Kitchen also very useful. Good value.
Review 48:Place very tired and run down e.g.Broken kitchen chairs, arm chair broken, dirty carpets, kitchen light kept going out etc. Not enough of some crockery for whole family. Not the most inviting place to come back home to.Why have a fireplace if you don't provide wood? Wouldn't take much to make it more comfortable.
Review 49:Great hot shower
Review 50:showers were hopeless, carpets were worn, fridge leaked,tv had to be continuously tuned in,bathroom floor leaked, aircon filthy
Review 51:the location and quietness
Review 52:Location we had a great time seeing the blue hills
Review 53:very dirty
Review 54:low value and good location
Review 55:Not clean, blinds are broken, linen not included
Review 56:Cheap, quiet
Review 57:No air-conditioning, furniture aged/dated
Review 58:Lots of heating options, good central location to tourist attractions
Review 59:Heater didn't work.
Review 60:Basic comfortable accommodation which is exactly what we were looking for.
Review 61:N
Review 62:That the whole family and friends could stay together
Review 63:Nice ducted heating
Review 64:Filthy
Review 65:I think the microwave was missing?
Review 66:location, value, renovated bathroom
Review 67:Oven very dirty.
Review 68:Mostly good facilities. Very comfortable
Review 69:The atmosphere
Review 70:no microwave oven
Review 71:close to lookout, quite, family feel
Review 72:Location, value for money
Review 73:wasnt very clean
Review 74:was cheap
Review 75:A few kitchen tools missing, like tongs.Other then that good place to stay
Review 76:Good spot, nice wall to shops
Review 77:position of fridge..door opening cumbersome
Review 78:excellent having gas heater as well as fire...be good to advise supply own wood spacious comfortable bathroom with heat lamp
Review 79:If you could describe the pickup process a little better, that would be helpful. Also - wood for the great fire.
Review 80:Great value, good bathroom renovation.
Review 81:A little confused on arrival as I hadn't talked with the staff to discuss check in procedures. Lovely lady at the caravan park called my hostess and directed me :)
Review 82:Very spacious and comfortable. Great as a base to travel and see the sights.
Review 83:Even though both the website and the written confirmation said a microwave was included in our unit, there was no microwave which effected our cooking.
Review 84:Brand new bathroom in Unit #1 was fantastic!
Review 85:We liked the wood fire, was nice to come home after exploring and relax in front of the fire. Heated the cabin quickly too. Our girls like that they could toast marshmallows too.
Review 86:Advertisement listed microwave, there wasn't one. Queen bed had to be made by us & one of the sheets provided had a blood stain on it, so couldn't be used.
Review 87:Quiet location, great BBQ area. Staff called morning of arrival to confirm you knew where to pick keys up from. Older style property that seems to be renovated in stages inside.
Review 88:There was no wood for the wood fire, and we couldn't get the heater to go little bit colder then we have become used too.
Review 89:Loved the bathroom and the shower was awesome. Beds were comfortable wish the linine was included, Nice and clean everythiong wa available to us. oh the electric blanket was an awesome idea loved it would stay there again.
Review 90:The rest of it. They could have renovated the whole place ie change the carpet, linoleum, new paint. Lamp is not working they could have change that. No lamp on the other room they could have installed a wall light instead? The house smells like old wet carpet.
Review 91:New toilet
Review 92:Great place to stay, brilliant location, nice cosy fire and a sheltered BBQ out the back! All in all perfect for a base while exploring the blue mountains!
Review 93:Staff strict with instructions and requests.
Review 94:Well furnished cabin with most of facilities available, well located at the heart of Blue Mountains. Very quiet place, relaxing.
Review 95:Could have been cleaner. No microwave in the kitchen. No heating in the bedrooms
Review 96:Value for money. Fireplace in the sitting area was nice. Would recommend only if after very basic accomodation
Review 97:No TV control, and a wood fire would add to ambience. Beds need to have mattress protectors cleaned regularly. When I took back the key, female staff manager very unfriendly.
Review 98:The spaciousness of the cabin, refurbished bathroom was excellent. Central heating great
Review 99:TV very old and bad reception on some channels. No linen provided.
Review 100:Open fire was good but not so good to have to buy our own wood. At least provide enough wood for one night for travellers arriving late.
Review 101:The cleanliness i.e. dirty kitchen and bathrooms. Windows hadn't been cleaned in ages. Compared to other properties that we stayed in NSW, we wouldn't consider it value for money. No linen as ordered by phone.
Review 102:The cabins were spacious.
Review 103:have to use own bed linen (that's why the price is so good)
Review 104:Staff- doesnt apply, there arent any, it's self catering very quiet, good facilities, excellent value
Review 105:Very basic. We brought our own towels and sheets to save money. Some wood for the fire would have been nice. No extras or love at all. Staff were not so friendly nor helpful.
Review 106:Good accommodation for the price. Great to get a two bedroom facility with kitchen for that price
Review 107:have wood available for the fire on cold nights, coffee plunger needed, front door lock was very difficult to open,
Review 108:location, price, facilities, electric blankets, self-catering,
Review 109:Felt noise from others iate at nite and early, No consideration but thisdoes depend who is staying there at the time
Review 110:Beds comfortable. Clean. Close to Pub, resaurants.
Review 111:I was not told to pick up the key at the Ivanhoe Hotel prior to going to the cabin. If you are not using the wood stove (which I didn't), the gas heater is not powerful enough to heat the whole cabin. A separate heater in the bedrooms would be preferable. The TV needs to be updated to something modern. At the least, it needs to be larger.
Review 112:The cabin was comfortable and well maintained. All rooms were very clean.
Review 113:Windows were dirty, all ledges above1m80 were never cleaned. So i did this myself. Lighting wasn't great, no candles allowed so only the fireplace could make a little atmosphere.
Review 114:Location was great, new bathroom was good, fireplace was nice
Review 115:The description said there was a microwave oven in the cabin but therewasn't one - our late night take away could not be warmed up.
Review 116:Location was good - peaceful country side; Cabin was simple but cleanand all necessary things were there; Bathroom facilities recentlyrenovated - sparkling clean; Spacious 2-bedroom cabin plus kitchen-lounge; Good value for money and would suite a family with children;cooking facilities available; Heated sheets for cold nights
Review 117:I felt there needed to be some minor improvements eg both shelves in fridge were broken thus very difficult to store much in fridge. Also some windows did not open and windows that did open did not have screens
Review 118:I liked the location and the acccomodation was comfortable
Review 119:It could use some more crockery .. while the cabins were ok once inside the presentation of the complex could be updated ie. the grounds could be landscaped to make it more appealing. You need to have quiet considerate neighbours as the units are attached to each other and have shared balconies.
Review 120:It was available at a busy time of the year hence the booking. It was basic but suited out needs with young children. Close to facilities.
Review 121:We were a family of six staying at an alternative plade 131 lurine st, Quite a run down cottage with bits and pieces of trash in the toilet and kitchen. Dusty living area coupled with a kitchen that had insufficient dining chairs.
Review 122:Functional kitchen in the alternative cottage offered for us. Electric blankets and heater.
Review 123:They are absolutly a dump most definately nothing like the cabins asshown on the website maybe the photos being used are when they wereconstructed
Review 124:There should be notification to collect the keys from the Ivanhoe Pub. We would have been stuck had we not run into a helpful couple in the cabein next to ours.
Review 125:Clean, spacious, inexpensive.
Review 126:The heating was quite insufficient, the two bedrooms got very cold very quickly at night and the beds were quite firm. Also was not impressed that even after calling ahead and requesting bed linen, it was not arranged when we arrived and I therefore had to carry it all to the cabin myself upon arrival without even an apology.
Review 127:I especially liked that it was a proper cabin with a kitchen and living room.
Review 128:We were booked directly next (attached) to a cabin where, on Monday morning, builders started to work. Lots of hammering, drilling, and our (shared) verandah full of construction materials. Of course, this is not what we expected of our quiet holiday in the mountains. We were moved to another house (big, modern, luxurious, not what we had wanted but fair enough), which was fine. However, they should of course not have rented out the place knowing there would be construction works during the week.
Review 129:Great location, close to centre but very quiet and facing the woods. Combustion stove, wood provided. Perfect if you are looking for basic comfort close to nature.
Review 130:Maybe for the cooler months have the wood bin full as the heater did not work.
Review 131:Location was great and nice and spacious.
Review 132:No microwave
Review 133:Quiet location Room for the kids Fireplace
Review 134:Facilities were fair, but reasonable for price
Review 135:Clean good location
Review 136:fire place was dirty and uncleaned, so didnt use it and took a frustrating while to start heater. Luckily wasnt really cold.
Review 137:value for money.
