Reviews for Achillion Palace
Review 1:The glasses of the Windows are not very good so you could heare the noisy of the road.
Review 2:The room was comfortable and the bed enouth big. Also the view from the balcony was very nice. In adittion there was wariety of food at the breakfast.
Review 3:The staff at the hotel are excellent. They are extremely helpful and polite. The hotel is only a five minute walk from a lovely, sandy beach. It is also only a short walk to the old town and the shops.
Review 4:Slightly hard to find for the first time.
Review 5:A well built, well run hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was decent. We enjoyed the stay there.
Review 6:1) Heavy noise in rooms on street side, even with closed windows - first we got that one, but we asked for the one on the opposite side right next day, because it was impossible to fall asleep there! 2) Smth like either black dirt or even mustiness inside of air conditioner in room! 3) Pillow itself under pillow case was all in yellow stains!!!
Review 7:1) Personnel is very nice and pleasant! 2) Nice quite fresh interiors both of rooms and public areas 3) A few minutes of relaxed walk to beach, a few minutes - to the very town center
Review 8:It is a 4 star hotel but we have stayed in much better ones before. There is nothing wrong with this hotel...the staff is great, its clean, has a good location and reasonably priced. We just feel that 4 stars vary sooo much around the world and maybe this is what you get in Crete. We stayed in Cyprus half a year ago in a 4 star hotel and honestly you can't compare.
Review 9:Location, walking distance from the beach and old town. Both 5 minute walk. Good staff, clean, have a nice pool bar on the roof.
Review 10:The hotel is definitely in need of renovations. It's very worn and need of some care and attention. We stayed in a standard garden view room- the beds are quite uncomfortable, the sheets tired and the bathroom was very disappointing. The shower was tiny and every time we used it water flooded the floor. The garden is also seriously overgrown and the rooftop pool has peeling paint and very old lounge chairs.
Review 11:Location is quite close to old town so an easy walk to get to most of the nice restaurants and the beach. The staff were nice. Having a rooftop pool was also good with a nice view, looking a little tired though.
Review 12:premises were very tired, beds uncomfortable, aircon very noisy, bathrooms basic and needed refurb, pool needed tatty, as most things very dated and view out of bedrooms looked like beiruit , gardens unkept and overgrown.
Review 13:breakfast okay, staff friendly, bedrooms clean, reception okay
Review 14:Asked for double bed got 2 singles as did my 2 x family couples Room & bathtoom small Pool area is tired and pool floor needs re-coating Does not meet my expectation of a 4 star
Review 15:Lovely breakfasts and friendly reception and breakfast staff
Review 16:Little weird smell from the rooms and hallways but not much to complain about. Ok stay for a couple of days or so
Review 17:Good location, friendly staff and rooms were fine. Also breakfast good!
Review 18:It's just a suggestion; the breakfast at the hotel was good - every thing was plenty, fresh, really good quality. If the hotel management couple replace the concentrated juices with fresh juice then for me its all 5*.
Review 19:Really good location in Rethymno, great breakfast, very friendly staff and easy to find a parking on the side roads. Will definitely stay there again.
Review 20:Our room wasn't particularly clean (there was scum around the bath) and the housekeeping staff didn't clean the room during our stay or refill our toiletries (all they did was make the beds). The room was also quite basic and in need of refurbishment, especially the bathroom which was very dated. Our mini bar was empty and we had to pay to use the tea and coffee. The Wifi was very slow at times. There was also a bucket on the balcony for the AC unit, which we had to empty to prevent it from overflowing with water. The pool was also quite basic and could do with a bit of a clean. Overall, the 4 star rating of this hotel was somewhat questionable in our opinion but could be achieved if a little bit of work was done to improve the facilities.
Review 21:The hotel is in a good location (close to the beach and old town). It was also nice to have access to a rooftop pool and a good sized balcony. There was also a nice garden to eat breakfast. The staff were generally friendly and helped with any queries we had.
Review 22:Very small outdoor area. A small garden where there were mosquitoes. Although we informed the manager about the problem did nothing, so need to use pharmaceutical cream for bites. Air conditioning in common use areas most hours was off and started it only after our complaints
Review 23:The fit out in the rooms is a little dated, but still clean and functional.
Review 24:The concierge was very friendly and welcoming. The rooftop pool is nice, and the breakfast was extensive. The hotel is well located, a short walk from the old town and the water. The hotel has a nice relaxed vibe.
Review 25:I just hate shower curtains that sticks to your body. Old school water tap with 2 handles for hot and cold water. I would guess this hotel was top noch 20-30 years ago. With few upgrades its not impressive these days. Air condition was not very good.Breakfast buffet was average or below.
Review 26:Location is good. Very close to city centre and not far from the beach.
Review 27:Drinks in the pool bar are quite expensive
Review 28:Staff here are very helpful. The rooms are average but the hotel is in an excellent location. The breakfast is amazing.
Review 29:I did not like the bad service from the waiter at the pool bar when we asked for our welcome drink. He was ignorant and not very welcoming. The pillows were a little bit uncomfortable
Review 30:All the other straff were very service-minded and did their utmost to give us a nice stay at the hotel. The breakfast was excellent also.
Review 31:We didn't like the old fashioned bathroom with old bath and the pressure of the shower. And the wine - we bought at the bar on the ground floor - was not tasty.
Review 32:The swimming pool is nice, we liked it. The breakfast was great: tasty and varied. The WIFI was working well.
Review 33:Great location - close to the beach and 10-15 minute easy walk to the main restaurant area. 15 minute walk from the bus station. Rethymno is a gorgeous town to stay in. Good breakfast - a great range of food for all tastes. Plenty of space to sit, and the garden is lovely. Very clean - the room, bathroom, and balcony were all a decent size and very comfortable. Fantastic pool - gorgeous views, a great size, lots of sun beds, decent pool bar, a d good shelter from any wind.
Review 34:The only minus part was.....some mold near the bathtub and the hairdryer got very hot to hold
Review 35:The location of the hotel was very convenient to taxis, bus stops, to the old city, beaches, shops, restaurants, dry cleaner- laundry, many shops. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful The swimming pool on the top floor was very refreshing and the man behind the bar very friendly
Review 36:Very clean hotel. Although the bathroom could use a renovation, overall i believe is value for money. Whatever the problem is, the staff and the manager is there to solve it. Thank you for the comfortable stay.
Review 37:Favourably located with friendly atmosphere, it is perfect for those who keeps coming to Crete/ Rethymnon for the mood and sights rather than to vegetate on the beach.
Review 38:The personal was wonderful, the location is great too. For traveling a long, I got a lot of help from personal about area. They were always happy to help.
Review 39:Disappointed the pool was not ready but it was very early in the season. No other problems.
Review 40:Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and convenient for the old town.
Review 41:the biggest disapontment for me was the fake oragne juice. According to me it's a shame to have a real fake (powder diluted in water) orange juice in this country and in a 4* hotel. the intetnet is reasonable in room only by night, or you need to go down to the reception to have good connection.
Review 42:the stuff is extremely nice and helpful. rooms are big and have nice large balcony. bed are really comfy! this hotel has a good location, in wall from the old town. the cat that is living in the garden :)!!!
Review 43:The Internett was best in the reseption area. The swimmingpool was closed when we were there, but opened the day we left.
Review 44:Good location, near the old city, port and nice restaurants and shops, but quiet. Nice and helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Good breakfast.
Review 45:Breakfast service poor. Food/beverages removed even earlier or exactly at the official breakfast closing time. Choice/range of food/beverages too limited for hotel of this level.
Review 46:Wi-fi has some issues and needs to be upgraded/fixed so that it works properly all the time and at higher speeds.
Review 47:Staff remembered us from last year's visit and were always smiling and friendly.
Review 48:The pool and roof top bar area were not open which was a great disappointment, as we had picked this hotel for our son based on this facility. We left 4th April and it was nearly finished so don't let this put you off as it will be a great space with fantastic views.
Review 49:Lovely sunny balcony with good view. Triple room good size and comfortable. Staff so friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast.
Review 50:We booked the hotel because we wanted to use the swimming pool. Throughout the entire stay the pool was empty. Staff promised that it would be filled before the end of our stay, but this didn't happen. We went early April, so maybe they don't fill the pool until the proper season begins. If you are going over the Easter holidays, and you want to use the pool, I would double-check that it will be available.
Review 51:Despite being in an unattractive part of town, the hotel is in a good location; on the edge of the old town and near the beach. The staff were generally very friendly. The breakfast is very plentiful.
Review 52:the water at the bath, changing from colg to hot probably when being used simultaniously from other rooms, could be a real problem if the hotel is packed
Review 53:the breakfast was pefrect especially the creta corner the view from the 5th floor was the sea
Review 54:Staff were extremely helpful and polite. No request was too much. Hotel very clean and pool on the roof is a great place to relax in the sun. Wifi a great inclusion (slightly temperamental at times but generally good). Location excellent for beach, bars/restaurants, the Old Town, shops etc. Would highly recommend.
Review 55:The lighting was quite dim in my parent's room. Mine was fine. Higher wattage lightbulbs! Not any reflection on the hotel but the town is often missing street signs so if you're on foot, have a very detailed map/follow the harbour route. Don't get completely lost like we did!
Review 56:Location (to beach, town, museums, the Fortezza, churches, shopping, eating and bus station). A well run and comfortable hotel. Kind and helpful staff.
Review 57:This hotel is right in the centre of Rethymno only a block away from the beach and restaurants with the most friendly staff including Kostas with whom we had most dealings with but all of them were helpful and friendly. Will most certainly return to the Achillion Palace
Review 58:Bathroom worn out and to very clean. Unstable wifi. Cheap tea and coffee located in room costs EUR 10 for a set. We didn't noticed it on our arrival and used one, had to pay for all.
Review 59:Located on a quiet street, close both to the old town and city beach. Nice pool and views from the roof. Staff was very polite and friendly. Good breakfast, we were there about 9-10 am every day and didn't noticed problems aforementioned by Elmira. As far as a know - best rooms located on third (garden view & renovated) and fifth floor (sort-of-seaview).
Review 60:Could do with a vending machine or complementary water.........was really thirsty when I arrived in early hours.
Review 61:Wonderful location on the doorstep of the old town with endless restaurants and cool bars. The beach is about 5 mins walk and the pool area is really relaxing...
Review 62:Noisy fridge, uncomfortable bed found it difficult to sleep. Difficult to get to by car. on street parking almost impossible.
Review 63:closeness to the old town, beach and restaurants. Breakfast area and garden pleasant
Review 64:Sometimes the towels had a slight smoke smell to them, only happened a few times. No ventilation in the bathroom. You can hear the neighbors well in the bathroom (not to great if one of them is throwing up).
Review 65:Perfect location: close to the beach and old city center. Nice swimming pool with great view and bar. Staff was incredibly nice: they really made the stay wonderful. Great breakfast, continental. Wifi worked well. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 66:I wasn't too keen on the view from our balcony but we still sat out there with our drinks in the beautiful sunshine and it certainly wouldn't stop us from going back.
Review 67:We were delighted with this hotel and we will definately return. The staff were brilliant, the breakfast good, it was a a short walk from the beach - nothing to complain about.
Review 68:We have stayed in cheaper hotels on other Greek Islands which are cheaper. They never replaced the toiletries in the bathroom, and whilst the cleaning was very good, it wasn't as thorough as in other hotels we have stayed in.
Review 69:The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and not too far from the old town, which is a great place to see, with lots of excellent restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel pool on the roof is beautiful, and the bar is reasonable in price. The breakfast was nice, with lots of choice.
Review 70:The location isn't the best : the road is packed with buildings that cover the view, despite the price there is no private park and the navigator has some trouble driving you there.
Review 71:The was clean and comfortable
Review 72:The swimming pool closes at 8pm but I went there at 7.50pm and was already closed

Review 86:The staff are very kind and helpful.
Review 87:The people are very nice and helpful.
Review 88:the bathrooms were very small. A renewal is necessary.
Review 89:The beds were comfortable and the location was very close to the Old City center.
Review 90:I had to pay to use snooker table! Not so clean pool.
Review 91:Clean Room, Location, Polite Staff
