Reviews for Veneto Boutique Hotel
Review 1:After hours the door of the hotel was very difficult to open, could have done with bit of advice on this.
Review 2:The beautiful room with my own courtyard and the beautiful garden/restaurant which my balcony overlooked
Review 3:Beautiful place. Beds very comfortable and very friendly staff. Stayed only one night, unfortunately, but will be back in the future. Highly recommended.
Review 4:Beautiful and spacious hotel. We stayed in the wing that is brand new - it keeps some of the old world charm but with new, contemporary but comfortable decor that is stunning.
Review 5:Parking. A long way away from any parking spaces despite the write up. Accessed via winding unevenly paved pedestrian streets full of meandering tourists, bicycles and scooters. BUT, the hotel is actually worth the effort once you have arrived!!
Review 6:Beautiful old Venetian building tastefully decorated and housing many antiques in the rooms and public areas.
Review 7:The Veneto's location was very good being in the middle of the old town. It was very close to shops and restaurants. Great breakfast and courtyard.
Review 8:The bed in room 101 was uncomfortable and access to the room was through the restaurant, this was resolved by changing rooms for the last two nights of our stay
Review 9:A very beautiful hotel in the heart of the old towm
Review 10:I gave this stay as a gift to a newly wed couple for their honey moon. It was a part of their trip in creta. They were very happy with the location and the restaurant.
Review 11:the hotel is not a boutique its more like hotel apartment reception is placed on first floor if you are lucky someone to tell you if you are not fit going up the stairs could be tiring the perfect pictures of the restaurant decorated as a wedding party was not usefull since the menu was by far the most expencive bathroom was smelling mold toilet handles broken no windows to open and take some air it was inside the hotel the windows we could here children crying as if they where in our room over prized and without breakfast
Review 12:location was perfect the mattress was very good spacious room very friendly staff
Review 13:Quality of WIFI was poor - This was only a small issue.
Review 14:Food and Wine were excellent. Also, the knowledge from the staff especially the Somellier regarding regional food and wine made the stay excellent.
Review 15:Very intermittent WiFi is literally our only complaint
Review 16:Fantastic place, so much charm and wonderful staff! Great location in the Old Town and nearby parking!
Review 17:A little underwhelmed by breakfast (quality not quantity) - given the hotel restaurant is noted as one of the better finds in Rethymon
Review 18:Beautiful historic building - lovely courtyard for breakfast. Brilliant location in the middle of the Old Town.
Review 19:I recommend travelers arriving in Heraklion to rent a car. It's a long and expensive journey by taxi! over an hour. Also, it might be tricky to find the hotel.... but it's worth the trouble. :)
Review 20:We fell in love with this boutique hotel from the second we walked in. It feels like a romantic movie set. Location is ideal in the old town of Rethymno. It's absolutely adorable. The room was very spacious and clean. The restaurant is delicious, a must try! We simply didn't want to leave.
Review 21:We had a small out door area, but we didn't use it because it was right next to a what was possibly the exhaust fan for the restaurant kitchen.
Review 22:Our room was very spacious and airy (room 104) . Loved reading about the 700 year history of the building. Great location in the old town, and our room was away from the street and restaurant area, so it was very quiet at night. Our room had a separate sitting area with a small kitchenette. Our front door and step would have dated back hundreds of years.
Review 23:My only (very minor) quibble would be that the bathroom was a little tired.
Review 24:I thoroughly enjoyed my two-night stay at this beautiful property in the heart of the Old Town. The Venetian building is full of elegant atmosphere without being in any way pretentious or over-smart. The staff were most welcoming and helpful. Taking breakfast in the secluded, shady courtyard at the rear of the building was simply delightful. Very good value.
Review 25:It was pretty cool staying in a 14 C monastery. We had a large room with comfy bed. Very clean. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was not only convenient but had lovely food. Location of the hotel is in the old town, we struggled to find it as we didnt have a map but the locals helped us find it.
Review 26:I would have preferred a room with decent windows ie mine were small and the at ground level so a bit claustrophobic
Review 27:Very tastefully decorated, convenient location and friendly staff
Review 28:Advertise courtyard but when we were there it was only available for meals. Needs more opportunities for enjoying beautiful outside courtyard
Review 29:location
Review 30:don't eat in the restaurant. We did not like it at all!
Review 31:we had a great room with lots of light that looked out on a courtyard and had an outdoor patio. this is a very lovely hotel
Review 32:Impossible place to stay if you were not fit. Pedestrian area,so have to wheel your bags some distance from nearest parking. Lovely room at top of house has very steep staircase, but staff helped us with our bags.
Review 33:Lovely old building in centre of old town. Great room at the top of the house. Lots of space and character, with sitting area and views to Venetian fort and over flowery courtyard. Really comfortable bed and lovely marble bathroom. Dinner in the courtyard with excellent service and wine from their extensive cellar is an expensive treat, but plenty of cheaper restaurants nearby if you wish.
Review 34:It would be nice to have a staff member at the hotel during the nights, just incase of an emergency,,,especially during off season
Review 35:the friendly and helpful staff
Review 36:The staff are helpful and location central. The building once was a monestary and has a stone mosaic entry. Breakfast choices were plentiful. Traditional furnishings in a large room with a kitchen and large patio make it good value.
Review 37:parking was a small problem but once we worked it out it was about 2 min walk. but with suitcases in the rain not the best!
Review 38:the staff were very accommodating. the room was large with good bed upstairs. good wifi. nice breakfast with a good choice. in old area of town and if it hadnt rained so much we would have seen more. found a great greek taverna near for tea.
Review 39:Nothing to declare. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Review 40:You know when hotel website photos are usually extremely flattering? Well, this is definitely not the case for Veneto. The actual rooms is far better than the pictures. photos cannot give the authentic, romantic feeling of the place. Clean rooms, delicate decorated place, delicious breakfast with local products, polite staff. A hotel consistent with its character and the beautiful old town of Rethymno. You will not regret your choice.
Review 41:the breakfast was lousy - especially the coffee tasted more than warm black water. there was mildew in the bathroom. Both points absolutely no go's for a hotel, which says, it is a luxury boutique one.
Review 42:Hotel lies in the very heart of one of the most beautiful old towns of Greece. most of the best and coolest restaurant & bars are just a couple of steps from the Hotel. Hotel is in absolutely phantastic old house.
Review 43:You cannot go by car. Dont use the navi. Park in the central parking and walk (500m).
Review 44:Nice small hotel in the center of the old town. We had a lovely room with its own terrace.
Review 45:It was a little bit of a walk from the parking with our luggage but doable and need to get your suitcases upstairs where the guest rooms are so if that is an issue, something to keep in mind. The staff did try to help. All depends on your ability. Would still recommend.
Review 46:The building is just beautiful along with the patio and dining areas. The rooms were quite comfortable and charming. The staff were all very friendly and wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 47:Our room was at the end of the restaurant, and opposite the entrance to the restaurant toilets so we basically had to walk through the tables to get to our door. Although the room was nice inside this felt a bit weird.
Review 48:The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the old town next to all the buzz (if that's your thing). However, it is not noisy. The staff were very helpful and our (standard double) room was really nice, with the bed under an old stone arch. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Review 49:Very attractive hotel, good studio rooms and ours even had its own patio area, good bathrooms. Beautiful at night when there are candles everywhere, so pretty. Good food. Very central in the old town.
Review 50:Our bedroom was to front over street restaurant so had to close windows at night else could be noisy. Not too bad though in September when we were there. Old town location means no direct access by car though could park within 200 metres .
Review 51:Great old town location...modern comfort in a striking old world style. Good sized room....clean and welcoming . Friendly staff. Loved the Venetian courtyard and breakfast there was the best of bargains.
Review 52:Our room 102 was situated at the front of the building and was therefore subject to all of the noises coming from nearby bars etc. We had to sleep with the shutters and windows closed and still we could hear noise and it made the room stuffy. I had several very poor night sleeps.
Review 53:We really liked the location. There is free parking in front of the municipal building. It is close to everything. Breakfast was pleasant however I wish there was more fruit and less bread. The coffee was very good and the breakfast courtyard location was pretty.
Review 54:Our room was right beside the toilets and the restaurant. There was noise in the evening coming from the restaurant, and it isn't nice to sleep so near the toilets. At about eleven o'clock at night, suddenly the climatization machine started to work with a loud noise. it stopper half an our later but we were awake by then.
Review 55:Beautiful house, friendly hosts
Review 56:Room dimly lit. Shower titchy and obv. old fashioned..shabby chique as my aunt calls it but not my scene.
Review 57:Very Friendly helpful staff. Good wifi. Kettle in the room and large fridge with glasses supplied for drinks!!. Good restaurant on site. Quaint street in old town. A few English TV channels- better than last place , coz had BBC and CNN plus a few others.
Review 58:Yiannis has remodelled this old house in the most remarkable way. The recreated pebble flooring in the entrance is the beginning of many visual treats.
Review 59:The only disappointment was that we were told our room would have a balcony but it didn't
Review 60:The whole hotel was picturesque - a bit like a fairytale castle - we only ate breakfast there, but there was a great choice of food
Review 61:Wi-fi was a bit weak in my room (101) BUT fine throughout rest of hotel which was great.
Review 62:The staff were amazing and polite. The food and ambiance - could not be beat. The rooms are beautiful and the location is prime. Couldn't find better value if you tried!
Review 63:Parking was tricky - directions could use a map or Google coordinates.
Review 64:Staff are extremely friendly and helpful in this charming Venetian mansion. Great recommendations for beaches and small mountainside tavernas. The in-house restaurant -- and wine list -- also merit a try. Recommend.
Review 65:Prior to our stay we sent an email to the hotel informing that we are getting married in Rethymno and will be staying in the hotel during that time. When arrived we were asked about our stay and re confirmed it to the reception. My wife was going in and out of the hotel with the wedding dress and stayed for a photoset, however the hotel didn't even bother to send us a bottle of wine or any of the things hotels do for honeymooners. We mentioned it during the check out but were answered that "they had no idea".
Review 66:Location is very nice, just in the middle of the old town (parking is 10 min away, paid one), thy have really nice breakfast room and garden, rooms are in Traditional Venetian and Cretan style, we had a 2 levels room. Bathroom was ok, however shower cabine only. WiFi was free of charge but no reception in our room AT ALL!
Review 67:Everything was just perfect.
Review 68:The location and the room which was lovely and comfortable with a nice view into the courtyard. It was the perfect place to relax after exploring around the area.
Review 69:10 minute walk to car park, which is not that far unless you are taking very heavy cases which mine were. Directions to hotel need to better laid out with a map.
Review 70:Lovely area full of little cobbled streets and amazing restaurants decked with flowers. Beds really comfortable. Staff very helpful. Good aircon. Very secure. A cut above the rest. Highly recommend it.
Review 71:- Parking was not free as mentioned on booking.com (paid 8 euros for the night) - Getting to the car park was very tricky - Must go through the restaurant while people are dining to get to the room on the ground floor - One small window means you won't be getting much light
Review 72:+ Location was very central + Decor of the room + Friendly staff
Review 73:Carry heavy baggages to walk up and down the stairs.
Review 74:We like the traditional Greek decoration house. Breakfast food provided is fresh and healthy. We specially the dinner in Veneto restaurant. Food quality and menu are excellent. The table setting in a classic environment with matching music made us a wonderful experience during the trip.
Review 75:Quality of apartment with its spiral staircase and luxury shower unit. Exceptional ambience in a historical location. Perfect location in the old town
Review 76:Fantastic accommodating staff with a wonderful knowledge of wine. Beautiful setting with a lovely garden restaurant. Romantic and comfortable hotel.
Review 77:Historical setting and attractive entrance etc.
Review 78:The hotel sent me directions in advance with a map which was very useful.
Review 79:Paying extra for cappuccino
Review 80:The building and the location . Room was huge
Review 81:Loved the historic feel of the hotel. The garden restaurant is beautiful and the location is perfect.
Review 82:beautiful hotel, nice staff, excellent location
Review 83:Nothing that deserves to be mentioned

Review 85:Beautiful entrance & building. Staff lovely & had a gorgeous meal in the restaurant. Loved it here
Review 86:Location, restaurant
Review 87:Loved the ambiance, food, staff and location!
Review 88:Excellent location, superb restaurant, great staff!
Review 89:Draining problem in the bathroom
Review 90:Nice room and beautiful hotel in the center of Rethymon. Staff was friendly and efficient.
Review 91:The room was a little noisy.
Review 92:The old part of town wit
Review 93:The beautiful old building.
Review 94:No coffee/tea in the room although kettle & cups available
Review 95:Friendly staff, very helpful. Location Interior design & decor
Review 96:Excellent, quiet location in the centre of the old town, friendly staff and charming decor.
Review 97:breakfast was standard
Review 98:everything about the hotel gives a nice intimate feeling; and every request is kindly granted.
Review 99:Outside part of restaurant is just under several bedrooms and there is considerable noise until midnight.
Review 100:Location
Review 101:small shower
Review 102:the history and location
Review 103:The cleanness, the restaurant, the Music inside, the place to breakfast, the sevem hundred years cave, the wines.
Review 104:We loved Veneto House!!! Looking back at our pictures we just can't wait to go back and this time for longer. It would be a great memory.
Review 105:Nothing!
Review 106:A beautiful stay: so cosy and charming. The restaurant downstairs is really beautiful too. Nice breakfast also. Make sure you stay here!
Review 107:wonderful location super room on 2 levels sleeping 3
Review 108:The restaurant was beautiful but the dinner menu was a little limited but still very good.
Review 109:This is an old venetian building down in the heart of town. The hotel emailed driving directions to the parking areas and they worked great. Our room was very comfortable and wifi access throughout the hotel was good.
Review 110:Parking an issue! While parking was listed as "nearby," we had to walk, dragging our luggage, for at least 10 mins. Because of its narrow streets, this is a problem for all the hotels in the "Venetian" district of Rethymno!
Review 111:Very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful stone courtyard with garden. Hotel restaurant fabulous, both food and service! Would stay here again!
Review 112:A little loud, easy to hear people in the hallway and restaurant downstairs. It takes just one screaming child in the restaurant to make you want to leave your room and go for a walk.
Review 113:We liked the look and feel of the place, very homey and warm. The staff was great with recommendations for food and sights.
Review 114:The location was fantastic. It's right in the middle of the old town, just a few minutes of wandering down narrow streets from the beach. The streets around it are full of lively restaurants and bars. The hotel is really beautiful. The rooms are decorated in a lovely old style.
Review 115:There was no frying pan in the kitchenette.
Review 116:I liked the atmosphere of the ancient building: the stairs, balconies, wooden doors etc. The room was not very spacious but very clean and quiet.
Review 117:Casa Veneto is in a beautifully restored building which is very atmospheric, the room had incredibly COMFORTABLE beds and probably the single best hotel bathroom I've ever had in Greece. Breakfast was excellent, and staff was very kind and helpful.
Review 118:Boutique hotel with nice interiors, perfect location. If you miss your good old Scandinavia or other northern country, here is your best choice. If you look for Greek warmth and joyfulness - go elsewhere.
Review 119:I was disappointed that their restaurant had closed for the season atthe end of October, but came to realize that most restaurants in Cretedo the same.
Review 120:Kitchenette cannot be used for anything else except as a spare handy basin, wouldn't use the kettle as it looks grotty, no hairdryer - needs to be requested from reception, toilet got blocked.
Review 121:Nice lovely old place with a lot of character, lovely room with private balcony & small kitchenette - extra hand basin came in handy.
Review 122:Can be difficult to find as it is in the old town and you are unable to drive in this area. However, it is well worth it!
Review 123:Great place and ambiance. We stayed in room #101, this was their cave room, part of the old monastery. Lot's of history here. The food at the restaurant does not disappoint! The owner was extremely helpful and hospitable as well. He also makes his own wine, raki (similar to grappa) and a lemon liquor. We bought some of his liquor to take home. Would definitely return here.
