Reviews for Casa Vitae Hotel

Review 1:Very quiet but in the old town of Rethymno. A stunning old building beautifully renovated. All the staff were very friendly and special thanks to Sonya who looked after us very well. See you again.

Review 2:The beds were a little too hard for our liking.

Review 3:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their english was great, which helped us immensely. The breakfast was incredible. Beautiful place!

Review 4:Beautiful hotel great location in the old town. The rooms are to a high standard and all the staff are excellent extremely helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast was outstanding.

Review 5:We stayed only 1 night. Looking for some low aspects, maybe breakfast can be improved a little bit (but seriously, it is enough the way it is already).

Review 6:We could not wish anything better for our honeymoon. Staff more than friendly and helpful (phoned me before staying due to booking.com issue and phoned me again after the stay offering to shipping what I have forgotten in the room). The location and room (Anemone) are so beautiful, wifi works, was really appreciated having a welcome gift for our honeymoon. And oh, jacuzzi! We will come again, I promise.

Review 7:The hotel is located in an area where cars cannot access. My friend had difficulty carrying her luggage to and from the hotel to the bus station

Review 8:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quirky in a nice way.

Review 9:Nothing to dislike about this amazing boutique hotel.

Review 10:Excellent location in a lovely historical building, Breakfast was served in a lovely garden setting. The junior suite (Daphne) was lovely with a 4 poster bed, jacuzzi bath and patio. The staff were the friendliest we've ever met during our visits to the Greek islands. Book this hotel you will not be dissapointed !!

Review 11:Fantastic welcome. Lovely staff. Beautiful room. Arranged a taxi to Skafia and an early breakfast for us which was so helpful. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. We will next time!

Review 12:The proximity to all on offer in reythmo, ambience, large room, staff were friendly and efficient, breakfast was very good and able to get light snacks.

Review 13:The location although technically isn't in old town feels as though you are and is a stones throw away.we loved the courtyard area which was very peaceful. here you have breakfast and you can also have drinks there in the day.The room was gorgeous, very spacious and comfortable.you can walk from the bus station and the staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival. I would stay here again (and again) if staying in rethymnon. Thanks Casa Vitae

Review 14:Helpful and friendly staff who go above and beyond!! Breakfast was one of the best during our two week trip to greece! Beautiful rooms and garden in a great location!

Review 15:Parking is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and not always easy to get a spot.

Review 16:The room was well adorned and very clean. The building as an old mansion is very appealing.

Review 17:Lovely quaint house, with restful surroundings and friendly, helpful staff. Early morning call by nearby Cock. Great fresh food for breakfast. Junior suite large and as described. Ideal location for restaurants, shops etc.

Review 18:We liked everything, though if you have difficulties with stairs, it is maybe a bit difficult to stay. It would be nice if all rooms have a bath. Everything together: the best place in town, we love it.

Review 19:Everything!!! Great breakfast, wonderful room, great bed, very sweet staff, etc etc... We came back and certainly will again.

Review 20:There is no parking for the hotel and the nearest drop off point is 200 metres or more away as it is situated in the narrow streets of the old town. Taxis are not allowed in the streets which are only accessible by smart car or motorbikes. Not recommended for the elderly or those with mobility problems. Likewise there are no lifts or access to the upstairs rooms or suites by those with climbing difficulties.

Review 21:We loved everything about the hotel. The Staff were excellent and did every thing to make our stay enjoyable. We were 3 different persons. Husband and wife in the beautiful suite. And a mature widowed friend in another room. The breakfast was adequate and could be altered on request.

Review 22:Hydromassage shower cabin in the room was rather narrow.

Review 23:Excellent stuff service Convinient location Hospitability Classy decoration Great value, much better than more expensive hotels

Review 24:If you have a car, you have to park it far away cause it's not allowed to drive in the old town.

Review 25:Everything was really good, the staff was friendly, the room clean, breakfast was ok. I recommend it cause it's in the old town and you are next to everything.

Review 26:Not enough days to stay there and relax :)

Review 27:The girls at the reception are amazing. With their big smile they do anything possible to satisfy you The decoration is very nice The jacuzzi is perfect The Bed is very comfy The Breakfast is big and tasty

Review 28:Lovely hotel, ideally located, staff very friendly & helpful. Room was tastefully decorated. Breakfast in the garden idyllic. Old house which has been tastefully modernised. It is very close to the bus station, the fort, the harbour and there is an abundance of restaurants to choose from. This was far more than we were expecting and would go again.

Review 29:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 30:Really nice hotel friendly & efficient staff. A beautiful courtyard, & room decor very tasteful. Would not hesitate to recommend or return. A little oasis!

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:This hotel was recently ranked as one of the 20 best boutique hotels in Greece by the Times of London. The street and the hotel are both historic and extremely picturesque. The staff are almost too helpful. The rooms are modernized and very comfortable. Breakfast in the courtyard is very special. It is very convenient for the buses, the fort, the harbor and the restaurants.

Review 33:We were given a junior suite even if we booked a standard double room. The room was huge, really carefully furnished and comfortable. All the personnel was friendly, professional and helpful. Finally, the position was in the very old town of Rethymnon making it perfect for visiting this charming city. Really a wonderful experience.

Review 34:Staff were extremely helpful and polite. The location was excellent and the building rooms and courtyard were wonderful. We had a room in the annexe which was perfectly acceptable and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 35:We loved everything. Its hard to describe the way we were treated by Athina and all the staff - they literally were our angels))) Daphne suit is beyond any expectations and destined to host wedding couples I think) We felt like home and even more! The best ever experience of hotel so far...

Review 36:The lighting in our room "Myrtia" was beautiful, but not good for reading. There was only one outlet under a desk for charging our phones. It was hard to reach each time.

Review 37:Staff friendly and helpful! Property beautiful and welcoming! Food plentiful and thoughtfully prepared!

Review 38:The hotel is perfect in every sence. Location is very good to discover old town of Rethymno, staff is super-friendly and ready to help with anything. The way hotel looks is absolutely beautiful. We also had no problems having short 10 minute walk to the beach. Definetly good starting point to discover Crete.

Review 39:Excellent location in the old city. Lovely historic building in a beautiful setting. Beautiful courtyard Well appointed rooms; ours was spacious, had a seating area and a big bathroom with a spa bath. Excellent breakfast, especially enjoyed the traditional Greek options. Delicious yoghurt with honey! Wonderful friendly staff who provide service that goes above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 40:breakfast was good, but not exceptional not possible to drive by car into the old town fridge was old and noisy - we had to unplug it every night

Review 41:great location great people stylish

Review 42:Nothing all was excellent

Review 43:We were so lucky we got to stay in a superior suite as we got it last minute so it wasn't to expensive and one of the nicest places we ever stayed. The staff were unbelievably nice from when we arrived they greeted us with smiles, gave us lovely fresh orange juice in the courtyard to relax from our journey before we even checked in. In the room there was a couch, TV, complimentary tea/coffee water& biscuits. The bathroom was also really nice with a jacuzzi style shower.

Review 44:We had an amazing time in Casa Vitae, the hotel is in a perfect position (in the old town centre but in a quiet street) and we found the best staff ever. Many thanks to Stavroula and the other girls who made our stay special!

Review 45:The staff was very helpful and polite. The room was great, as pictured on the site.

Review 46:The service was outstanding, lovely room with very good bathroom, excellent location, very good breakfast

Review 60:Loved the garden area Loved the bed Loved the cave like sitting area

Review 61:Location Friendly staff Good breakfasts

Review 62:Nothing at all

Review 63:Stavroula and Effie and all the staff

Review 64:Goofy space-age shower Far from parking (in a pedestrian-only part of town)

Review 65:Comfortable bed & facilities Nice cafe Very friendly staff

Review 66:Breakfast could be improved, notably the variety of products.

Review 67:Localisation, the quality of the service and the decoration and size of the room.

Review 68:Please see above. It was all excellent.

Review 69:We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and in particular the friendly reception staff who really went beyond the call of duty.

Review 70:Nothing really!

Review 72:Hotel is so clean, wonderful friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, felt very much at home and the room was amazing! Location also wonderful

Review 73:no elevator

Review 74:great central location, parking fairly close

Review 75:The best place you could ever choose to stay in Crete. It is our 3rd time there!!

Review 76:Nothing~

Review 77:The staff there is very excellent, especially Eleni!

Review 78:Nothing to report

Review 79:The staff are excellent and always cheerful. The breakfast is an experience with different dishes each day plus the usual items. Despite being in the heart of the old town is quite and comfortable. The building and courtyard where breakfast/snacks/drinks are available is stunning.

Review 80:Loved the staff, Effie was so helpful, in fact all staff were amazing. Breakfast was fantastic, rooms clean with everything you need. Location is perfect, right in the heart of the old town and walking distant to harbour, great restruants and wonderful shopping. Highly recommend and value for money.

Review 81:Hotel had no swimming pool and the bathroom was very small.

Review 82:We thought the hotel was excellent, great value for money. Breakfast was delicious in the courtyard and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend this hotel if staying in the old town.

Review 83:The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and went beyond the call of duty to be of assistance in every way. They are a real asset to the establishment.

Review 84:I loved the location of Casa Vitae, just in the middle of the old town. Very close to everything but situated in a quiet street apart from the crowds, like an oasis. The entrance is impressive, a beautiful terrace with a fountain full of fishes and a nice roof with roses in the top that allows you to have the perfect breakfast under it shadow. The staff is dedicated and friendly.

Review 85:The moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth. The young staff were charming and always helpful, and the Venetian building itself is beautiful - particularly its courtyard - good for relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. Rooms are spacious and comfortable... would recommend it to friends.

Review 86:Please indicate the parking place on your maps with a green point!!! GPS helps only if we know where to go. Normal talking on the reception was audible in our room.

Review 87:Nice location, beautiful bulding and garden. Very kind and helpful staff!

Review 88:The Wifi didn't work in our building - this was only a minor disappointment as the courtyard was comfortable enough when we needed to access the internet. The fridge was a bit noisy at night.

Review 89:The hotel is well-situated in the heart of the beautiful old town, super close to shops and restaurants and a short stroll from the harbor and the beach - the gorgeous courtyard always invited us to linger for a little while and was the perfect spot to have breakfast on sunny mornings. Breakfast was also plenty and served by cheerful staff. We received a very warm welcome and staff never tired of explaining things we wanted to know about. They really went the extra-mile to help us out with information and advice, and made our stay one we will want to remember for a long time. We also loved the little sun terrace right outside our room, with a nice view of the sunset. Would always recommend this place to anyone.

Review 90:Very very very difficult to find. Get good directions before you attempt to find this hotel. No parking close to the hotel. Also, do not both the standard room, it is up two flights of stairs and a very small room.

Review 91:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent location for being in the heart of the old city. Easy to walk to all the area sites. Breakfast was excellent served in the courtyard. A very relaxing start to the day.

Review 92:Not on all maps so can be difficult to find initially. But on the plus side of that, the staff are aware and all I needed to do was to make a quick call to them.

Review 93:A beautiful, peaceful sanctuary right in the middle of the old town lanes. Lovely, helpful, friendly staff. My room (junior suite) was stunning, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fabulous breakfast. Just wish I had booked longer as they were fully booked the following night so I could not extend my stay.

Review 94:The staff were so very helpful and friendly. Very peaceful and quiet in the courtyard where we had our breakfast. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Review 95:Our room was situated across the street from the main part of the hotel and as a result the wi-fi connection was not good. This was not a big problem however as we enjoyed a relaxing coffee by the pond in the courtyard of the main hotel instead.

Review 96:The staff are very friendly and very willing to help. We arrived very late at Heraklion Airport on the Orthodox Easter Saturday and they arranged a taxi service for us to Rethymnon and were there waiting to give us our key and show us to our room. Breakfast is fantastic with a range of fresh bread, pastries, cheese, ham, Cretan yoghurt, fresh fruit, homemade jams, Cretan honey and cereals. If you want a real taste of Rethymnon, away from the stereotypical characterless touristy hotel, this is the place to stay.

Review 97:We could not get wi fi in our section. Not a big deal though.

Review 98:The staff was amazing. At each interaction they treated us as if we were the most important person. They were warm, helpful and real.

Review 99:Our room (myrtia) was subject to noise from the room upstairs. It didn't bother us over much but might not suit other travellers. Next time l would try to book one of the rooms with a balcony.

Review 100:Helpful staff , lovely spacious room, comfortable bed. Characterful building. Very nice food - breakfast is served in a lovely walled courtyard.

Review 101:Nothing not to like.

Review 102:The staff were all absolutely lovely, really helpful and dealt with all our queries very well. The breakfast is excellent, and the courtyard in which it is served is gorgeous. The building is beautiful and very well located in the old town.

Review 103:Nothing at all.

Review 104:The staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful. Also breakfast and sundowners in the courtyard garden. For my 8 year old it was the jacuzzi in the room, he's never been so eager to take a bath.

Review 105:The mattress and pillow were too hard, but that's personal preference.

Review 106:Very helpful and service-oriented staff, very nicely decorated room, delicious breakfast -also catering for vegetarians.

Review 107:Nope, nothing not to like!

Review 108:The friendly staff that made us feel like home, the breakfast was great and they offered to make us whatever we wanted. The location is really in the best part of the old town. The rooms were beautiful. So we liked everything really...

Review 109:Not a thing.

Review 110:We were met at the bus station by Elena, a pleasant young woman who ledus to this lovely hotel. She sat us in the beautiful courtyard facingthe koi pond and pomegranate tree, brought us beverages and snacks andonly then had us complete hotel paperwork. When we were ready, she ledus to our room. It was an amazing old house that had been remodeled to ahotel. The architure, paintings, and furnishings of the structure andour hotel room was palacial! Our room was large as was the bathroom withjaccuzi tub. Our bedroom had many small windows covered with see-throughcurtins--letting in the light. There was also a fridge, sofa, and coffeetable that always supplied with bottled water, teas and coffees. Thestaff was marvelously friendly. They did our laundry for us at nocharge. The breakfasts served out in the courtyard daily (as part of theprice of the hotel) were more than spectacular! Anything you wantedcooked to order, plus a buffet of fruits, cereals, juices, yogurt andmore. We would love to return here one day.

Review 111:Room could have been a little larger but we realise you are very limitedas to how much you can develop in a 400 year old building.

Review 112:Great breakfast, far more than your average continental.beautifulVenetian building.Staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. As thehotel is in the Old Town there is no vehicular access to the hotel butany of the (all female) staff will walk down to meet you at yourparking/drop off point. If you are travelling with children they willget lots of attention.we had a room as the suites were all booked butstill had a terrace shared with another room(not connecting).value formoney too!

Review 113:The staff were absolutely amazing. Poppy, Maria, Athina, Aggeliki, Diana and Maria completely understand the meaning of the word 'hospitality'. Comfortable room, towels and sheets changed regularly, breakfast is like a mini feast. Location is just right in terms of walking to into the centre and to attractions. It's also very quiet at night time except for the occasional Cretan music concert which usually finish by 10 and is lovely to listen to from your room.

Review 114:- very standard toiletry pack in junior suite. Would appreciate some body creams. - there was a power outage one day when we had to wake up at 6 am. As nobody is working on reception until 8 am and phone didn't work either, we couldn't contact anybody and had to get ourselves ready for the day in total darkness. - The most disappointing thing, which I actually find to be QUITE SHOCKING is that I have been charged the full amount (5 nights in junior suite) 18 days prior our arrival to our hotel. I have found it out too late, when we were doing check out in hotel and we were told as it has been already paid. Despite of that I would have preferred my husband to pay it and by no means expected them to charge this much of money from my card without my approval. It is not in the booking policies either. If we would be less happier with our overall stay, we would surely complain.

Review 115:We were on our honeymoon and stayed in Junior suite which was lovely! The main attraction of this hotel without doubt is its charming patio where you are served one of the best breakfasts with a very personal approach. Staff is amazing - they always greet you, smile at you and ensure that your stay is just perfect! In fact, one of the girls had even met us in the bus station when we have arrived to Rethymnon for us to find our way to hotel! They can also arrange you an early breakfast into your room, if you have to leave somewhere earlier when breakfast is served. Hotel feels like a very friendly homey place, full of character and very romantic! We didn't want to go home... Also cats are just wonderful!!

Review 116:The rooms are really small, there was hardly a place to put our belongings to, e.g. no place to dry your beach towels. Our room was situated on the 3th floor, and probably because of that we had some issues with the water pressure. The breakfast is not buffet, the staff brings you food in a limited quantity, although it was enough for us, but in case you liked something particularly you'd have to ask for more, which I guess is possible, but a bit uncomfortable. The room wasn't ready at check-in time, so we had to take a walk in the city to wait.

Review 117:The hotel is situated just in the heart of the city. The hotel's garden, where breakfast is served is wonderful. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
