Reviews for Hotel Michelangelo

Review 1:No elevator. Host helped with bags.

Review 2:Host Roberto was helpful and interesting. Hotel about a block from the lake. Quiet evening (off season). Room was large. Hotel restaurant was closed Monday for dinner, so needed to walk to business district for meal. Tuesday AM is market day (at the lake front) and the market was filled with sellers and buyers. Convenient to Milan MXP airport (40 min by car)

Review 3:Grilled seafood for dinner was a bit burnt and tasted bitter.

Review 4:Friendly, attentive staff. Free upgrade of room. Milles feuilles offered by the owner. Strong wifi. Location by the lake. Quietness.

Review 5:Sits by the railway

Review 6:A little bit of the way from the old town and the lake but just 5 min away. Nice welcome and staff. spacious rooms and plenty of parking.

Review 7:Everyone was very friendly at the hotel. The location is excellent, close to the Lake and has easy access to the paths. I was able to take a lovely walk by the lake, ending up across the street for a gelato. Heavenly!

Review 8:Bed was lumpy; shower door was broken; lights were too dim to read by and initial greeting by staff person was perfunctory and non-welcoming (different staff person later was much more affable).

Review 9:Shuttle to airport about all I could say was positive about place

Review 10:That we had to leave.

Review 11:Staff was over the top in hospitality, local recommendations and helpfulness. Room was large, well appointed and comfortable. Location to the train station and central Arona couldn't be better.

Review 12:Leaving

Review 13:The hotel is an older family run hotel and is very close and within 5 minutes walking distance to the downtown sites and lakeside. The room was very large, spotlessly clean and had a very comfortable bed. The food was excellent and all staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Chef Roberto was a extremely friendly and always willing to help and great suggestions for places to see. He is also a really great pastry chef and makes really wonderful croissants and other pastry usually served for breakfast so beware or your waistline will pay the price

Review 14:Roberto was the nicest, always in a good mood to make a nice conversation. The room was huge, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is great. The location is perfect and you can go by foot to the town center. Overall it's worth the price :-)

Review 15:Nothing but it would have been better if there had been a lift and the wifi was a little better in the room.

Review 16:The hotel had very friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to give a great personal service. It had a nice outside breakfast terrace and a very convenient location 2 minutes walk from the beach and the station. It was great value for money.

Review 17:Breakfast is very Italian, not big choice of food

Review 18:Owners and personnel are amazing! They create pleasant atmosphere of Italian hospitable hotel and ready to help you with anything. We were very hungry but their restaurant was closed, but still they served us tuna salad and wine. The owner with pleasure will tell about interesting places to visit near lake Maggiore. In the hotels restaurant you must try calzone!

Review 19:The proximity to the railway line, however it created little disturbance.

Review 20:Hotel operated by lovely Italian family who did everything possible for the comfort of their guests. Nice restaurant with good chef.in the evening and good breakfast with specialities prepared by Roberto. The hotel is only a short walk to the Lido and 10 minutes into town.

Review 21:AC could have been a bit stronger. It was 100 degrees outside...

Review 22:Roberto was amazing. I was usually the first one up for breakfast and we communicated in a funny English/Italian hybrid. He also made me a to go breakfast at 6:40am on the day I departed. It wasn't necessary but was amazing.

Review 23:I have nothing bad to say except that its quite far from the airport (malpensa)

Review 24:Overall it was great. Room was nice and facilities are great but what i really loved most was Roberto. He was there the whole time. Though he cannot speak english really well but he entertained each and everyone very well especially during breakfast. HE IS VERY ACCOMMODATING and very friendly and talks i lot. Breakfast served was also great.

Review 25:nothing bad to say

Review 26:excellent location near the train station, lake and town center.excellent food at the hotel restaurant. good size and clean rooms. Special thanks to Roberto. We will definitely stay again.

Review 27:Restaurant food was good not great.

Review 28:Rooms were fine, nothing fancy but comfortable. Free parking. Just a block from the lake and a walking path into town. Hotel had a full service restaurant and a nice outside patio with sitting area.

Review 29:If I have to say there was something I did not like, it would be the steps to the entry. The only reason is I walked all day because there was so much to see in town.

Review 30:The whole staff was excellent, extremely helpful, and saw to our every need.

Review 31:Owner was really helpful & gave us a lovely welcome. Family room (for 2 adults, 2 kids) was perfect. Great place to stay if driving down from Switzerland to Milan airports. Amazing value.

Review 32:There was receptionist Roberto, who was very pleasant to us. He also cooked great croissants and other patisserie that we had on breakfast, he said that he worked on cruises as patisserie chef.

Review 33:There were quite a few choices for breakfast and all of the items were very good. The day/night staff were extremely helpful and very accommodating. The on-site restaurant was excellent with a tremendous selection. I actually learned what grappa was and the different types.

Review 34:Nice clean hotel. We were 2 adults and 2 grownups and the room was big enough to accommodate us comfortably. Free private parking. Breakfast was basic but OK. The owners were very helpful and went out of their way to please us

Review 35:The location and friendliness of the hotel owner. I really enjoyed chatting with him during my stay. I am from Puerto Rico and our cultures are very similar. The rooms were big and clean. Breakfast was fantastic and to be honest, one of the best hotel wifi networks I've used!! Close to town, you can easily walk within 5 minutes to the town center.

Review 36:The staff were so friendly & happy to help. Easy walk to railway station & tourist information centre. Large room & decent size bathroom. Roberto's happy welcome whenever he saw you & offer to take us to the station on departure. Restaurant with good food if you didn't want to go into town. An easy & pleasant walk into town.

Review 37:The shower stall was small and a bit outdated (I'm 6'4")

Review 38:Within walking distance of the city center along the shore where you have a beautiful view of the lake. Very kind and hard working host. Nothing flashy but clean and got the job done. Quiet.

Review 39:Vicinity of railways could pose a problem to those who find it hard to fall asleep, but only in rooms facing the railways. No problem in the opposite direction.

Review 40:Very friendly host. Helpful staff at all times.convenient to center and shopping. Spacious rooms. Good restaurant on premises. We enjoyed Roberto's hospitality.

Review 41:Trainstation close by makes some noise, but not that much (we slept very well).

Review 42:Very big room. Very helpfull and always smiling staff (we even got some food when we left to 'survive' the journey). Breakfest was good and fresh. 5mins walk to center of arona, big car park. Very good value for money!

Review 43:Rooms are boring and bathrooms not been thoughtfully designed and shower very small . Needs a proper renovation .

Review 44:Stayed only a night so can t say much , convenient location , simple ! Staff really nice , gave us early morning fresh pastry and coffee , really kind.

Review 45:The room was spacious and clean with lots of room for luggage. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful, with frittata and fresh baked pastries. Arona is a lovely little city and we enjoyed our stroll along the lakefront -- just a few steps away from the hotel. For getting back to Malpensa airport in Milan the location couldn't be better -- 30 minutes on back roads.

Review 46:Not homely atmosphere

Review 47:Pleasant staff

Review 48:Conveniently located to Malpensa airport. Within easy walking distance of Arona's city center.

Review 49:The location was very close to the pedestrian walk together lake. Roberto was very helpful and friendly. Everyone had a big smile!

Review 50:Beds uncomfortable, but they provided padding which helped

Review 51:Staff very friendly, interesting selection of food and wines good private parking.

Review 52:Train noise

Review 53:Not the most comfortable bed

Review 54:Fantastic location by the lake and only minutes walk to the centre.

Review 55:Nothing

Review 56:Lovely setting with patio to sit and relax and have a drink

Review 57:Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Otherwise the hotel was very good

Review 58:Friendly staff, restaurant , wi-fi

Review 59:Quiet. Clean. Excellent breakfast. Excellent location. Would recommend it for any traveller. We were a family with 3 small kids.

Review 60:Bathrooms could be updated, street facing room can be loud

Review 61:Awesome staff and excellent location, free wifi, great coffee

Review 62:Free parking, Host couldn't do enough for you. Large room Good value for money Short walking distance to the main attractions

Review 63:Nothing.

Review 64:The staff at this hotel are wonderful. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Roberto was particularly friendly and fun.

Review 65:Don't remember:)

Review 66:I stayed with my man. For us were all very nice!!! Thanks so much:))))

Review 67:Train noise from railway line

Review 68:Roberto! Location perfect for walking everywhere

Review 69:Excellent staff, location very central, delicious breakfast and fantastic owner.

Review 70:rooms close to the railway but not really problems with the noise

Review 71:very nice friendly owner secure parking for motorbikes nice food nice terrace

Review 72:Roberto was an exceptional host. Really looked after us.

Review 73:Great location and staff all very friendly and helpful

Review 74:The toilet is for NBA players (so high, my feet hardly reached the floor :) ) You'll see :)

Review 75:Nice staff, large, well equipped room.

Review 76:Nothing really to dislike

Review 77:Good location for traveling this area of Italy, the evening meals were good, staff friendly.

Review 78:The location is good for exploring Cinque Terre for one or several days. If you arrive by car this location is convenient. Free parking and close (5 minutes) to Levanto. This place could be tricky to reach without a car. The facilities are very modern, clean, and comfortable, but yet in a charming old building. The view from the room is spectacular. Good value for the money.

Review 79:There is rail noise nearby but we didn't mind it!

Review 80:Friendly staff, great room, large clean, parking safe, easy to find, breakfasts good, evening meals, in Boheme restaurant ,good choice and price, and offered discount because we were guests!

Review 81:The owner is WONDERFUL. Really friendly and went out of his way for us. We had to leave very early for the airport so he got up EXTRA early, made a wonderful breakfast with croissants and a toasted sandwich, yogurt, cappucino - more than we could eat. And he gave us a map to the airport on the backroads. Molto sympatico! Grazie mille.

Review 82:When booking the room "Booking.Com" said that there was 1 room available. When I checked in I was the only customer. The hotel was essentially closed down, however the room was as advertised. I suppose it should have been expected as it was January and cold.

Review 83:The room was as discribed. Free internet was good. Don't get excited about the free breakfast.

Review 84:No lift, but staff carried bags up stairs so this was not a problem.

Review 85:Clean, comfortable room, unusually friendly and helpful staff, close to the station by foot, easy to walk into the beautiful old town and lake. Although the restaurant was closed in the evening this was not a problem as the town had many good restaurants and the staff recommended a good one for us. The croissants at breakfast were home-made and unusually good!

Review 86:Except for one morning when the receptionist came in to work nobody spoke a word of English, Arona being a main tourist place this was a surprise. Being a solo female travel I always choose a hotel with an on site restaurant and bar, especially on the winter so that I do not have to venture out at night if I don't want too, especially when it is pouring with rain, cold is fine, but persistent heavy rain!!! You just want to sit in, relax with a nice meal and a glass of wine. The restaurant was closed, the owner said it was because the chef had taken a holiday, then a few days later he said that the chef had had a car accident. I did not believe either of these stories. I think the restaurant was closed because of lack of guests staying there and in the area as a whole. There was not one "Christmas" decoration on the place. Because I was unable to book a table anywhere for a meal, my Christmas meal was in my room and consisted of soup ( I had taken a small travel kettle and packets of soup ) with crisp breads, locally purchased ham and small bowl of mixed salad. Very nice but not for Christmas dinner The owner gave me two bottles of wine when I left, sorry but for having spoilt my holiday rather meaningless.

Review 87:Good parking and excellent WiFi

Review 88:Arrived back appx. 3:30/4 p.m. after (chilly) trip on lake & had to ring several buttons and wait 4-5 minutes before a (second) person came to unlock front door for access to our room.

Review 89:It was an arduous trip getting to Aruna, what w/ a train snafu in Milan. Chose Michelangelo because of its good Booking.com review scores but was pleased to have two old fellows know to point us to the RIGHT as you depart the station (most are on the left); from there it was a pleasant & pretty stroll. Our host, Roberto, met us with genuine pleasure & delight. He is a former cruise chef and his love of life, travel, people, & food shows in his pleasant and well-kept hotel. Rooms have slippers & bathrobes, the first we've experienced in this past month (at the price-level we travel), #25 was spacious, toasty warm, and quiet. The bathroom was clean & had lots of nice shelf-room for toiletries. We'd said we'd wait to book Friday night depending on how we liked the hotel and again, breakfast chased all thoughts of moving on to Stressa from either of our heads. DON'T FILL UP ON INITIAL COOKIES/JAM; save your appetite for the BEST croissants either of us have ever tasted! Each has fruit jam, chocolate, or cream inside and they are SCRUMMY! There is yoghurt & ham cheese toasties for those wanting more'substance'. The weather was 'iffy' until the morning we left, so it was wonderful to have such a pleasant room with great internet connection to return to and get much needed photo down-loading & correspondence done. Arona is a darling place and were we to return, we'd look no further than Michelangelo for our next stay, thanks to 'Roberto' (who sent us off to our early train with two final croissants; THANK YOU!)

Review 90:Nothing. It was all a bit too good to be true.

Review 91:Only stayed for one night but it was great. Really made welcome, everyone was really friendly. Best breakfast I have had at a reasonably priced hotel in Italy. Croissants were excellent. Hubby was even given a grappa with his espresso having jokingly said he would like one! Very clean and easy to find.

Review 92:Not alternative choices for breakfast, while the croissant is good!

Review 93:Hospitable staff, with whom u feel like friends ! Spacious room and beautiful restaurant for breakfast.

Review 94:Breakfast might get boring after more than 2, 3 nights but we loved it for our one night stay!!!

Review 95:we (couple, 28/31) booked the Hotel at the last minute. Even though we booked a double room, we were given a Family room. Was very big and most important: very clean. There is no view and shutters were closed due to the warm weather. Location is spot on, maybe 300 meters to town and 200 meters to the Lido where you are able to swim for free. Breakfast is typical Italian, you get to choose a hot beverage and they will bring you a glass of jucie, plus sweet Croissants and Donuts. There are no meats or eggs available. For us, no Problem and we enjoyed the Italien way. Breakfast might get boring after more than 2, 3 days. I would recommend it for a few days, maybe not for a longer stay. Value for Money is amazing!!

Review 96:-Further away from the boat launch then the 2 minutes advertised. Morelike 10 minutes. -This is an old hotel, on a quite noisy street that isattempting to renovate itself. -Toilet is very high...feet could nottouch the ground! Bathroom sink was low though

Review 114:The breakfast was minimal to say the least

Review 115:The room was very large and comfortable. Close to town, few minutes walk. Secure parking Restaurant good

Review 116:Friendly host, big rooms, nice bathroom, good breakfast (with homemade fruitbowl).

Review 117:Fixtures and fittings in room a bit dated.

Review 118:Location close to ferry stop on Lago Maggiore. Friendliness of staff. Pastry chef.

Review 119:Hospitality Location close to local beach, town center and train station Spacious rooms

The Fine Print
