Reviews for Hare & Hounds

Review 1:We were a little disappointed with the shower as it was not very powerful and on two occasions turn cold. Also could do with a couple of more plugs as only had a double plug and already had 3 things to be plugged in TV, light, and kettle if u wanted to charge mobiles had to unplug everything

Review 2:Lovely Room and the hosts were very polite,

Review 3:Hate to say it but the bed was the comfiest

Review 4:The host was lovely...breakfast amazing..gorgeous little place....really enjoyed our break and perfect location for Rye. Decorated so well and you can see they put a lot of effort into the style of the room...

Review 5:There is an issue with a certain amount of sound transmission between adjoining rooms.

Review 6:The room was very clean and comfortable and had the facilities you would expect i.e. tv and tea/coffee making. The breakfast was first class and the owner both polite and charming.

Review 7:The owner Harriet couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The room was lovely - really nicely decorated with thoughtful touches. Breakfast was great! Was lovely to be able to take our dog - there was a little field outside our door where we could exercise her. Looking forward to going back to the B&B and hopefully camping when the weather is better as facilities look great.

Review 8:If we were to stay longer, I think in the evening the lack of pubs/restaurants within walking distance would be issue.

Review 9:Harriet, the owner, was very helpful and engaged with her customers. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of space and nice decor. And a delicious breakfast too!

Review 10:If you are a light sleeper you might find the traffic slightly noisey.

Review 11:Excellent comfy clean room. Breakfast was lovely especially the "breakfast basket". Ben and Harriet were very friendly and attentive. Thank you so much.

Review 12:We would have liked bigger cups for the tea/coffee facility in the room. Bath towels very small. WiFi access only in the dining room.

Review 13:Very peaceful location. No frills and fancy but accommodation was very comfortable. Very hospitable and helpful hosts. Excellent breakfast. Highly commendable, particularly as a base for touring the area.

Review 14:None at all!

Review 15:Harriet was extremely friendly and helpful, made a lovely veggie breakfast! The location was great, very accessible to Rye and the surrounding areas if you have a car. We knew that we would arrive late and Harriet was very accommodating.

Review 16:Spacious room and a friendly welcome. Comfortable bed and lots of storage. Lovely and tasty breakfast and a good strong pot of tea. I liked that we could make our own toast so that it was fresh when breakfast was served.

Review 17:The room was self-contained and private, and beautifully designed and equipped with personal touches. Our host was welcoming and helpful and provided a map and local advice. The breakfast was lovely.

Review 18:The very warm welcome we received on arrival after a 5.5 hour journey. The lovely breakfast at a time to suit (within reason) and the help offered when requesting 'phone numbers of cab companies and restaurants nearby.

Review 19:A superb value for money B&B. Very friendly welcome, very nice clean room, and great breakfast! The history of the Hare&Hounds really interesting in the breakfast room. Recommend this place as a good base for exploring Rye and beyond.

Review 20:Good to be in an outside room we had independent access, secure car park. Facilities just right, very clean and tidy (bed a little hard for my liking but fine for my husband). Lovely welcome in the morning and breakfast freshly cooked to order. Super overnight stay.

Review 21:Not a lot of choice at breakfast if not having cooked food.

Review 22:Lovely spacious bedroom with large bathroom, warm welcome from Harriet. Good cooked breakfast.

Review 23:Not a bad experience but shower a bit slow but this was pointed out to us when we arrived and the problem was being rectified in October when business was a bit quieter.

Review 24:Very welcoming, very comfortable bed and lovely white bedding and fluffy towels. Very comfortable stay and would recommend it to family and friends.

Review 25:Close to the wonderful village of Rye The Hare and Hounds is a very convenient location with cozy cottages and a hearty breakfast. The owner is superb!

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:Lovely owners. Helpful and friendly. Very clean facilities. Comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Lovely hot English breakfast. Excellent location. Near to coast with plenty to do in the local area.

Review 28:Very friendly and helpful owner. Great room with all the little extras that you would find in a 4 star hotel. Dog friendly with field to walk in. Great breakfast.

Review 29:We had a fantastic few days and Harriet was a great host. The site was just right and all the facilities were spot on. We will certainly return. Everything we needed was catered for down to bbq and fire pit with matches! Pleasant owners who made you feel really welcome.

Review 30:The shower was quite a fight. It seemed as if it only had 2 settings: icy cold or really hot. This might have been our incompetence, or it might have been the shower itself.

Review 31:Loved the fact that we had our own bathroom, with a bath (!) It was also a really quiet area, so hardly any traffic.

Review 32:The Electric shower & lack of hot water at the basin tap & low flow. To close to the road & noisy campers in the morning using the showers.

Review 33:It was very convenient for Rye & the owner was very welcoming & friendly plus a great breakfast.

Review 34:Mid August meant there were lots of families camping so be aware of happy, noisy kids all around at certain times

Review 35:Clean, comfortable, accessible - nice and helpful proprietors. A good professional enterprise.

Review 36:Water system in bathroom too high and not hot. Not easy to operate ..no towel rails, squeaky bed.

Review 37:I loved the style, and very clean. Hostess very accommodating and will be great after fixing a few quirks . I would stay again Good luck Harriet in the future

Review 38:For a business that has only been running for 10 months we found the hosts very welcoming, helpful & accommodating during our stay. The breakfasts were a joy! Good start to the day!

Review 39:The owners are really service oriented. A warm welcome on arrival and helpful advice regarding the location etc. Our room was very clean and comfortable. In the bathroom I found a container of ear plugs; the room was close to the road and I assume that these were there as a precaution for people who found it difficult to sleep. We didn't require them, but these small touches significantly differentiate the overnight experience in a hotel or B&B.

Review 40:The road was a bit noisy but the rooms were incredibly cosy and beautifully decorated

Review 41:The owners were wonderful and nothing was too much effort for them - they fell over themselves to make our stay perfect.

Review 42:- there is no wifi in the rooms, which I would expect for the rate - the shower water pressure was very weak, and again not in line with the rate (I didn't think) - there is no deposit required on booking.com, then they emailed me and asked for a deposit via paypal.

Review 43:Nicely renovated and lots of space. Plenty of parking.

Review 44:I have now stayed here a couple of times and it just gets better each time I visit. Even the the road outside has just been re-surfaced! The hosts were cheerful and helpful, without being intrusive.

Review 45:Plenty of hanging and storage space, and generous hospitality tray and toiletries. Our dog was made very welcome, especially by Daisy, the Cockerpoo. We had been a bit apprehensive about the campsite but, although it had about 15 tents on the Saturday night, we heard no noise in our room.

Review 46:There was nothing we didn't like, apart from the fact we only booked two nights

Review 47:Ben and Harriet, warm and welcoming, hardworking, dedicated young couple, nothing was any trouble, always on hand, we really did feel relaxed ☺️

Review 48:Traffic noise from busy road right outside bedroom. Although this was anticipated by hosts in that ear plugs were provided.

Review 49:Pleasant and in beautiful countryside and not too far away from Stunning town centre of Rye. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Review 50:I should have stayed longer

Review 51:Nice and clean good location and Harriet was very helpful. There is a bus stop right out side the property was good for us got the bus in to Rye £2.00 one way about four minutes journey. That way we could both have a good look about and went for a meal and a few glasses of wine and no worry about driving taxi back £10.00. I would definitely go back

Review 52:Honestly, nothing - it was more than we expected at a very reasonable price

Review 53:Harriet was very friendly - we forgot the code to our door and had to knock them up (sorry again) but they didn't bat an eyelid and sorted the door In seconds

Review 54:Both Harriet & Ben were lovely and welcoming. My son loved playing with their dogs, so much so it was hard to tear him away from them. My son loved going to the beach which was only 15 minutes away in the car. My son wants to go back a.s.a.p!

Review 55:The only thing, was size of bed, but that is only my preference, would like King size bed, but the double we had very comfortable and very clean.

Review 56:Everything, was made very welcomed straight away, lovely family and dogs, breakfast was what we wanted and excellent.

Review 57:The wi-fi wasn't working but I was told this on arrival and I was offered use of wi-fi in the main house if needed.

Review 58:I stayed here overnight to attend a wedding in Rye. Everything was excellent and my stay was very comfortable. I would definitely return without hesitation. Harriet was a fantastic host and a pleasure to deal with.

Review 59:Nothing

Review 60:Very welcoming and friendly, we got there late in the dark and was met by a friendly face with a torch to help us see our way from the car park and we was leaving early in the morning so they brought our very nice breakfast over very early for us, fantastic will be staying again.

Review 61:Nothing it was all lovely.

Review 62:My husband and I were visiting friends in Rye and needed a place to stay. We were really happy they we found this place. Prior to our arrival Harriet kept in touch with us via text and emails. She made us feel very welcome on our arrival. Breakfast was lovely Thank you very much.

Review 63:Harriet made us a wonderful breakfast for every morning of our stay, full of delicious goodies such as croissants, an assortment of breads, butter, jams, cerals, juices and tea and coffee.

Review 64:Room was a little cold when we arrived. When we tried to run a bath, despite pressing the button, we couldn't get hot water.

Review 65:The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. A lovely Continental spread. The room and linens were very clean.

Review 66:Lovely location. Very clean, comfortable and 'new' feeling refurbished room (also very spacious) and friendly service from new owners who have only been there just over a month. All the home comforts. Apparently the Hare and Hounds used to be run as a pub but now just B&B in separate out-building (and in the summer will have camping in the adjoining field). A lovely spot just north of Rye and a short journey in the car from the beautiful Camber Sands. Great value for money - highly recommended.

Review 67:The new owners were very friendly. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. It was extremely good value for money and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
