Reviews for The Rose Hotel & Motel

Review 1:We found air-condition was out of date which ment it seem to have a mind of it's own. Setting itself on 29' instead of the 24' which was our preference It was very noisie. We did how ever enjoy our stay In a room which felt to closed.

Review 2:This motel room was very small but we'll presented in an excellent Position. Cleaning was not happening for our stay but request for t coffee sugar were filled provided we picked things up from reception.

Review 3:It was so hot in the room, air con read 28 degrees inside. Unfortunately the small airconditioner was facing a wall in the corner of the room. The wall was freezing cold while the rest of the room was boiling hot.

Review 4:Dooleys Pizza around the corner.

Review 5:nothing

Review 6:Affordable. We had one of the original motel rooms which had been renovated to a high standard. And it had a windo that we could open - a major advantage. Centrally located - easy walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Highly recommend the White Elephant Thai Restaurant - excellent in every respect.

Review 7:WA seems to behind the rest of the world when it comes to booking in. Booking in time is 2pm and there is no way you're getting into a room before then, even when room is ready. Have not experienced this anywhere else in the world, if you are early and room is available they give you the key!!!

Review 8:So convenient to everything.

Review 9:The staff are under trained, only bottle shop attendants to check you in and they know very little about check in. Was told to pay $100 extra for security and it would be given back the next day. 3 calls and 8 days later im still waiting. Will never stay here again

Review 10:Nothing, worst hotel ever

Review 11:Booked on line lowest price lowest choice of accommodation. No description of room or its location within the hotel grounds. Hotel ceased to function at 12 on Christmas day, nothing open in town Christmas and Boxing day. Left early

Review 12:Convenient location Bunbury is a really nice place.

Review 13:Room represented excellent value for money. It was clean, quiet and roomy with good storage, bright lighting, comfortable seating and a comfortable bed. Even though the price was so reasonable there were extras like free WIFI, tissues, iron and ironing board which are sometimes not provided at this price.

Review 14:Everything! The bathroom smelt so bad. The bed was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep on it, I'm 2 and a half months pregnant and after laying on that bed I have put my back out. The staff have no idea about how the hotel works, they need better training! I want my money back it was not worth that amount at all!! I will never stay there again!!

Review 15:Location

Review 16:Receptionist not freindly.booked room for 3. Only towels cups and glasses for 2.Had to pay $100 EXTRA for authorisation fee.

Review 17:Great location close to CBD

Review 18:It was hard to get water in the kettle to make a cup of coffee, It would not fit under the tap so i had to buy bottled water to fill it up with.

Review 19:The rooms were large and you did not fall over each other. It was quite so no problem sleeping. The rooms were very clean so you did not feel that you need to wipe everything down yourself.

Review 20:ran out of coffee and sugar but....didn't ask for more which they would probably have given us. The room was hard to get air into it without using air con.

Review 21:Great location, clean room and accommodating staff. They allowed us to leave our backbacks at reception for several hours after check out as our train was not leaving Bunbury until late afternoon. Also had a very nice meal in the hotel.

Review 22:Our room was not serviced on Sunday morning so we did get new towels, bed sheets or the rubbish removed. Reception was closed Sunday afternoon.

Review 23:The room was modern. Location was a factor in pick the Rose Hotel

Review 24:One guest was a bit noisy banging on someone's door several times during the night.

Review 25:Beautiful old hotel located a short walk to shops & eateries. Close to Information centre & shuttle bus to train station. Motel style accommodation had everything we needed.

Review 26:Advise when we arrived they no longer no breakfast Went for drinks in the bar, order beer from the menu told they don't carry those beers and told shouldn't have the drinks menu out

Review 27:Closeness to everything

Review 28:WiFi didn't work, no towels left in room and had to chase up, no bathmat hence slippery floor.

Review 29:Location, close to pub and food, ample car parking, price.

Review 30:Room not serviced on one of our 3 days stay. Reception closed early, had to get fresh towels from bottle shop next door. Told by management they'd had a busy weekend!!!!!!!. Description of room states a dining table, only a small coffee table supplied. Room size very small.

Review 31:Convenient for town

Review 32:Room wasn't made up when we arrived although another was organised. Quite a small room. Stuffy. Noisy air conditioner . no hairdryer in room

Review 33:good central location.

Review 34:No hairdryer, no floor mat or flannels in bathroom. No local information, no indication of phone numbers for reception, no evacuation notice. Wifi did not work in room.

Review 35:Very clean. Good linen

Review 36:The room I stayed in this time was on the second floor closest to the bottleshop, terrible location as there was constant noise from cars and people talking until it closed. That is my only gripe with staying at The Rose but I would definitely stay there again (just NOT on the bottleshop side).

Review 37:No breakfast $100 refundable fee even after room is paid for with credit card Lack of communication between reception and restaurant as the room had been paid for you could not add the restaurant to your room.

Review 38:Well appointed rooms. Central location. Available parking.

Review 39:Walls seemed to be made of paper. Kids kept awake by the 'young folk' partying next door. They headed out on the town eventually so very relieved until they had visitors at 4.00 am and then started arguing for about 45 minutes. No after-hours number listed in guest info.

Review 40:Dinner at hotel was great and catered well for all ages.

Review 41:Not Enough staff on duty. had to wait ages for our food. food was very ordinary. booked breakfast and later discovered there isnt any breakfast anymore. I person on Bar service, slow and painful

Review 42:Room was clean liked the position of hotel

Review 43:We looked at the dining room menu and unfortunately found it a bit 'pedestrian'.....just like most pub menus. A pity because the dining room was very classic in terms of style. We decided to dine elsewhere.

Review 44:Location and presentation of the hotel were great.

Review 45:Not happy with the room (no 10) too close to the bottle shop, couldn't park outside our room due to other people parking there...only one easy chair and one wooden dining chair to sit on situated under the tv so if we wanted to watch tv had to sit on bed. Not happy about the $100 refundable deposit and no breakfast now (under new management) not hotel fault but also had a power cut. Very cramped in room. Really enjoyed our last stay there in April 15..but not so much this time...

Review 46:The position and the lovely Rose hotel building...bathroom was very clean and shower nice

Review 47:The cost of the room for one night

Review 48:Location was goof but found the twin share room with only one person in the room was expensive having to pay full price other place I stay in a double room to my self I get it at at discounted rate $145 is a lot to pay for one night

Review 49:Reception.... There is no mention that they will demand a holding fee for potential room damage when you book through Booking.com This monies is frozen against your card payment for 3 working days after leaving. When I challenged this the reception lady took a very strong stand...and blamed Booking.com (being their policy) I travel on business around Australia...a lot...and I have never had an amount of money frozen on my credit card before. All this chatter at reception was done by management in a demanding attitude. Hell, I'm in my sixties...I don't have wild parties in motel rooms...! But I was made feel as though...my character was being questioned by this receptionist lady. Bunbury, I regard as a bit of a WA tourist spot...on your way to Margaret River etc... But if you think you are going to find hospitable service and a 'welcome smile'...this is the wrong accommodation spot. I shall never venture to the 'Rose' again...never!

Review 50:It was quiet.

Review 51:Bar closed on Sunday night. No toaster in room and had to call reception to get a hairdryer

Review 52:Enjoyed the bar food, had a few vegetarian options. Nice clean room

Review 53:Not bad, but breakfasts were not available. The dinners we had there did not include vegetable greens, which you expect with mainly roasts, no sweets or coffee available after dinner.

Review 54:Nice large rooms and clean

Review 55:I never understand a minbar/fridge in a hotel room which is empty! At least a couple of beers and soft drinks would be sensible (obviously with price list) Tired decor

Review 56:Its central to Bunbury. Thr Rose had abandoned Breakfast facilities a few weeks before our stay - which was a pity, although there is ample options in the town.

Review 57:shame about no breakfast..but understandable cos of new owners and doing a reno....rates are now lower than when we booked but had to pay booked price. makes you wonder whether booking early is wise.

Review 58:the room was very comfortable....didn't like the stairs much

Review 59:we were stunned to find that the dining area was closed, no previous notice had been given on the website to let us know that this was the case. As the weather was stormy, it was most inconvenient as this stay was to celebrate an occasion and we had to find food elsewhere.

Review 60:location was chosen as it was within walking distance to theatre venue. we have been to this hotel previously for dining experience.

Review 61:Kettle in the room won't fit under the tap to fill it! Breakfast included in the price, but nothing but grains on offer.

Review 62:Right in the middle of the CBD, but nice and quiet. Comfy bed, staff very friendly and helpful, wifi great

Review 63:Bed was a little hard! Saw a pile of beds to be gotten rid of ?? Our room has not got a new bed yet. Clean crisp linen. Actual hotel needs a bit of an upgrade. Carpet of hotel looks old and uninviting so chose to eat in the Main Street as more enticing even though we had free continental breakfast with our accomondation.

Review 64:Good location in the centre of town. Very reasonable value for money.

Review 65:Value for money.... It's an $80 motel not 130 hotel. Bed was freezing and no extra blankets in the wardrobe. Tv channels were just free to air... Hence $80 dollar motel not a hotel

Review 66:The air conditioner and the television were wall mounted side by side. The air conditioner was noisy so had to up the volume on the television to hear. A bit distracting.

Review 67:Friendly staff, good food, accommodation was fine.

Review 68:not enough staff to cope with breakfast demands therefore running out of everthing and having to wait while the one staff memeber was run off her feet , trying to cope. the accommodation was advertised as hotel but it really was motel as it was a separate building, not the hotel as pictured. very miss leading and false advertising.

Review 69:i liked the bar, foyer and dining area. good location.

Review 70:Noise from rain dripping on metal outside the room prevented much sleep on first night of a four night stay. Very basic toiletries with no shampoo provided.

Review 71:Centrally located in the town

Review 72:We found the the bed was like a brick as it was hard on the back and side when sleeping and was also to close to bottle shop.

Review 73:We found that the staff was excellence also the food

Review 74:disappointed in room location right next to Drive Through Bottle Shop with constant noise from bell tone as people walked past entrance and cars stopping outside till about 11pm at night.Doors banging on entry and exit into rooms meant little sleep during the night. If we ever decided to book again we would make sure to book a room well away from Drive Through Bottle Shop.

Review 75:Location of Hotel, clean facilities

Review 76:House keeping is lacking and hotel reception closes before the official closing hour as per hotel guest directory.

Review 77:Good location and served good food at hotel restaurant.

Review 78:The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but certainly ok to sleep in. Expected a little more than just a kettle for a kitchenette but we managed. Staff were mostly fine except the middle aged lady at the reception who spoke to my partner and I (a lesbian couple) with a judgemental tone and questioned our stay.

Review 79:Great location, mostly fine service, good facilities for an older hotel.

Review 80:The wifi did not work in the room. The toaster and the hot water urn did not work at breakfast time. We also had a problem gaining access to the breakfast room as the main door jammed.

Review 81:The location and the restaurant in the old hotel was full of character.

Review 82:Good friendly place to stay convenient to everything within walking distance . Very good for anybody wishing to visit Classic old hotel style worth a closer look.

Review 83:not really perhaps the room could have comfortable chairs to sit inand a quitter aircon

Review 84:We just love the ambiance offered bythe Rose from a by gone era and kept in pristine condition

Review 85:Check your room before you accept it, The rooms near the drive through bottleshop are not so nice and noisy, Ask for a room in the next courtyard. The rooms are not in the main hotel building and are motel style.

Review 86:Wonderful heritage building, family business and the owners are very nice. Right in town with food outlets, visitors center and bus terminus across the road. Very nice rooms, clean and comfortable.

Review 87:Noisy air conditioner Short small bed Would have been nice if the rooms were in the heritage part of the establishment.

Review 88:Great friendly staff Great location to CBD heritage

Review 89:Breakfast was a strange experience. Food was average but the atmosphere felt like we had landed in an episode of Fawlty Towers..probably too harsh as nothing really bad happened but the atmosphere was not warm or welcoming.

Review 90:Convenient location and clean rooms

Review 91:Air con not working on hot air, Rooms cold, Not enough blankets for this time of year. Breakfast over priced.

Review 92:Staff friendly, Location excellent. Clean, modern bathroom Water pipes banging,

Review 93:The 1st room was too dark ,we paid extra to move to a lighter room. This one Ok but mould on shower ceiling, bit of a turn off. Handy to main Town centre street.

Review 94:Good Pub type dinners available, staff friendly.

Review 95:We did not like how the irish lady spoke to us,she was one of the waitresseson the night, she was very rude and abrut with a number of other customers,my husband and daughters boyfriend ordered their meat med to well done, and one well done,it was red roar and oozing blood, but the quality of meat was good

Review 96:We liked how we could walk to the shops from the rose hotel, location.

Review 97:Room 15 was terrible. Little or no natural light; the bathroom door wouldn't close, and there was no door on the small freezer. At all other times we've enjoyed our stay at the Rose, so we were disappointed this time.

Review 98:We have stayed at the Rose many times and always loved it. This stay was disappointing, but we will go back again. However, we'll be careful which room we book.

Review 99:Could have done with a second toaster for breakfast and our bathroom didn't have a exhaust fan..but apart from that everything was good

Review 100:Location..love the Rose Hotel...

Review 101:The room did not have a clock/radio so we relied on reception to give us an early morning call.

Review 102:Very good general atmosphere about the place and the staff genuinely friendly and helpful.

Review 103:The Rose hotel has the beauty old the old world charm, but with modern day high standards. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, a great place to stay

Review 104:The smokers outside our room and throwing butts on the roof of my car. And the kids running up and down and screaming.

Review 105:I loved coming back to a clean and made room. The room on a whole was Very comfortable. Thanks

Review 106:We were in room 15 which is a corner room and not as bright or spacious as the other rooms which friends were in . Pillows very uncomfortable - bed was average

Review 107:Loved the blend of traditional and new . Excellent breakfast , good value for money and the Garden bar was a surprise option for an evening drink . Location is excellent - within walking distance to most areas

Review 108:The staff (1 staff member) was very rude and lazy. They knew we were coming at 10pm and were not prepared and didn't want to accomadate us in anyway.

Review 109:Loved the location and the parking space. Rooms were very nice for the price we paid.

Review 110:Would have liked a toaster in the room, and they charged $20 more for our bill than what I was quoted online.

Review 111:The location was great and nice comfortable room

Review 112:Most of the staff were really lovely, with one exception. However other staff made us feel welcome

Review 113:This is a nice old hotel and has a comfortable feel about it. It is in a great location.

Review 114:Only bad experience was the bed. It was too hard so I just couldn't get comfitable.

Review 115:The Rose Hotel offered a lot of charm of days gone bye. Our room was nice and clean. The breakfast was served in such a beautiful old dining room. The location was fantastic to be placed right in the main street and close to shops and restaurants.

Review 116:The most appalling hotel food we've ever experienced. Poorly cooked, badly presented. The hotel should employ a competent chef or stick to hamburgers and pizza.

Review 117:room quiet, bed comfortable

Review 118:Blankets and sheets with holes, wi-fi that was unavailable in our room, uncomfortable bed. Pillow case missing when we arrived. Bed not made on day 2 of our visit, although the room was serviced.

Review 119:We liked the friendly staff, the great location and the excellent meals.

Review 120:Collapsed bed mattress so my head was 2 inches lower than the rest, Bathroom door had to be forcibly closed and latched closed, external verandah light made our bathroom look like a nightclub, we went to breakfast towards the end of service and experienced some off milk in our coffee, and some orange juice with a floating fly on the buffet table.

Review 121:The building heritage is fantastic. From the reception to the breakfast/ dining room. The building is fantastic and has been well restored and looked after.

Review 122:bed was hard and small , wifi was difficult to connect, the room was dirty, the aircon was dirty on the filter screen blowing dust back in when turned back on and not happy you cant fill this review out fully.

Review 123:Location was great , staff were friendly. breakfast was good

Review 124:The room needs to be decorated . at the moment it is very bland. noisy Air Con.

Review 125:Quiet location yet right in the middle of the CBD. great breakfast and an even better evening meal Good and secure parking

Review 126:Breakfast finished at 8.45 even on Sunday morning. We could hear the noise of our neighbours either side of our room.

Review 127:Great shower, adequate room size.

Review 128:Ants in the bathroom. I did forget to let staff know of this which I should have.

Review 129:Room was clean and surprisingly quiet given the location behind a bottle shop. Breakfast was good value for money as was the room cost which included free WiFi. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely old building. Will try newer rooms next time.

Review 130:My WiFi wouldn't connect, but my girlfriends worked well. Nothing more that I didn't like.

Review 131:The location is fantastic! We walked everywhere. Restaurant seemed reasonable although we atend dinner somewhere else. Wish we stayed for more than one night!

Review 132:The hotel desk staff were accommodating and friendly. The house keeping staff need some training.

Review 133:Location was great. Good activities and beaches in Bunbury and relatively close to other amazing beaches. Gorgeous coast.

Review 134:the dining room staff were overly zealous. The evening dining salad bar was so poor we decided to eat elsewhere despite having first booked at the hotel.

Review 135:the check in staff

Review 136:Very disappointed with the bed, the springs had gone and you sank in the middle it was the only thing that spoilt our stay, for around $140 a night not good

Review 137:Great location, very clean.

Review 138:The cleaner forgot to replace our towels. Not a major problem. The bed sank in the middle.

Review 139:The fact that we could walk all around the city leaving our car parked at the hotel. The reception ladies were very personable.

Review 140:The bed was a little hard for my liking but that's me being picky!

Review 141:We just stayed one night after my husbands work do - the reception staff were very friendly, the room was clean, simple but nice with everything you need. Free parking is always a bonus. The buildings are older style and have a lovely character and the location is very central.

Review 142:Clean comfortable room, surprisingly quiet despite being located in the car park, and near the bottle shop. Staff were very pleasant polite and extremely helpful. The hotel had a friendly ambience.

Review 143:Our room was very dark as it was near the landing of the stairs.

Review 144:A great place to stay. The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast ($12 pp) was excellent value for money.
