Reviews for Hotel Miralago

Review 1:I was booked in for one night but sadly received a call which meant i had to depart very early 5 am but their were no night staff of any description and had to wait 2 hours till they turned up. How dangerous is that with a Hotel full. They are now closed for the winter here's hoping they don't re-open

Review 2:The location is superb with several restaurants nearby especially 'Harrys Bar' opposite great food and wine with excellent service.

Review 3:3rd floor we stayed in was stashed in the older building later, therefore the ceilings were low, the room was very small offset by a wonderful frontal view of the Lake Como.

Review 4:Wonderful location. Very helpful staff, especially manager.

Review 5:When we arrived, a lady from the staff started yelling at us in Italian, without even making an effort, about us being parked in the wrong place, which took me some time to figure out. She could have at least made an effort, the car had foreign plates and she makes a living in tourism. That wasn't exactly the friendly greeting one expects at any hotel. They also charge 5€ for a low speed WiFi connection.

Review 6:Great location. Our room was on the top floor and had a little balcony with a side on lake view. Everything was nice and tidy, breakfast was good and staff were generally friendly to us.

Review 7:From the first greeting on arrival to our departure this morning the staff were wonderful. There is a really good feeling that they all work well together and enjoy what they do. We had breakfast and evening meal and enjoyed the choice at each. The desserts were so yummy.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Delightful staff and very helpful. Comfiest beds ever! Clean, first class modern showers I can't recommend it more highly and please pass this on to them.

Review 10:My only challenge was the overpowering, sickly sweet chemical smell in my room – either some kind of room deodoriser or cleaning product? Had to sleep with the aircon off and window and door open to cope with it. Chemical overload/allergy symptoms can ruin an otherwise great experience in even the most fabulous of locations!

Review 11:The staff were wonderful. It was delightful having meals on the terrace - great food and thoughtful service. A really magical, pristine and convenient location - overall, it was an experience to treasure and I hope to return for a longer stay next time.

Review 12:Staff extremely rude. My drinks took a long long time to come, when I complained they just said go to the hotel next door. When the waiter did come he was rude beyond belief. I took him to one side to discuss it and all he said was it is my problem not his! When I came back to the table and told my wife, the two tables next to us said yes he is very rude but he is the owner. Dont come here and suffer his venom

Review 13:Lake view from our room. Location close to Lake Come

Review 14:Sagging mattress, very dark room with a view through a barred window to a staircase. This four star property does not have even a trolley for luggages (and do not hope for anybody helping you with luggages). The beakfast was very poor. The hotel should have three stars if not less.

Review 15:Professional staff at the reception, really nice location very close to the lake

Review 16:Rooms are very small. Shower was extremely small, but had hot water and good water pressure.

Review 17:Location. Hotel Miralago is lakefront and close to the town's shops and restaurants.

Review 18:The staff during breakfast was less friendly and seemed annoyed at any request we made.

Review 19:The reception staff was very nice and extremely helpful with whatever we needed. As opposed to the information at the property, the WiFi cost 5 EUR for the entire stay.

Review 20:Only a very minor point - staff entering rooms during the evening to turn down the beds and do light tidying, is the standard practice here. To be fair, it's when you're likely to be out at dinner, and they always knock first to make sure you're not in - but it's just a little disconcerting if you're not used to it! It would be good to have the option to opt out of this service.

Review 21:We would happily stay here again. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a great location very close to the ferry station, and we were treated in a friendly, courteous and relaxed manner throughout. We dined at the hotel for four nights out of five as we were happy with the quality and choice of food and wine on offer. Cernobbio itself is a very pleasant place to stay. A couple of very happy guests!

Review 22:The mattrass/ bed in room 102 was more like a hammock. They upgraded me to a bigger room in 3rd floor, where the bed was fine. No surcharge.

Review 23:Excellent Restaurant with excellent and very friendly staff. Perfect location. Very friendly staff.

Review 24:Booking.com marketing both tennis court available and swimming pool. Neither was present or offered. Unfriendly staff. Tiny dark room.

Review 25:The only thing to like is the location.

Review 26:Needed little more coffee in the room. Cafeine addicts.

Review 27:Loved the friendliness and helpful staff. We're in Cernobbio for a family wedding. Staff spoke English and gave us direction to ever location and also call taxis for us.

Review 28:Our rooms were really tight. Avoid room 122 if you are a single traveler(I don't know about other single rooms), I regret the money I paidfor it. The bathroom was old, not like the other rooms. The room is onthe first floor but it was like in a basement, even if I opened thewindow no fresh air came in (this was also due to the heat). The showerhad a curtain and a mat when other rooms' bathrooms were new and hadglass doors and new drains etc., and had other people's hair on itswalls and it was never cleaned. The bed was pushed against the wall ofthe next room that had the toilet installed, so every time someoneflushed I felt like the water was running over me. Generally the roomshave thin walls and you can hear most things from other rooms. Cleaningstarts early, around 8am so you may wake up to the sound of vacuumcleaners, but interestingly our rooms did not get cleaned regularly, even though we asked for it (although, towels were always changed andthe bed was always made). The staff was helpful, but when we hadquestions sometimes they had faces on like they wanted to get rid of usat that moment. They also had no room slippers for a hotel of thislevel. Paid wifi is ridiculous. They should change that policy, as manypeople mentioned there is free comoconnection wifi just outside thehotel in the public space.

Review 29:Location was great, the beds were fairly comfortable. There is anelevator in the building. Breakfast was adequate, served from 7.30 to10. generally helpful staff.

Review 30:Furniture is too old with awful colours. The carpet and bed covers were horribly stinky. The size of the room would only allow one person to move by side. The room was too hot and the AC was not working properly. The bathroom was incredibly tiny with no space to even hang up your towels. At breakfast there was barely any variety of food. We were horrified when we found insects inside the peaches. It was an extremely bad experience and we couldn't wait for the time to check out.

Review 31:The location was the only advantage in this hotel.

Review 32:The wifi was weak and sometimes at peak hours we could not connect

Review 33:We loved the friendly helpful staff and the newly renovated rooms with extremely comfy mattress. We had a wonderful holiday.

Review 34:Every time you wanted to use the wifi, you had to login again with a long password. Not a huge deal, but cumbersome.

Review 35:Outstanding location, charming accommodation.

Review 36:The staff was a bit reserved and unhelpful, but generally ok. They need to do away with paid wifi. Free wifi is available by just walking out the door.

Review 37:The location was fantastic; right on the piazza in Cernobbio!

Review 38:Room quite small -but perhaps that goes with the old fashioned charm!

Review 39:A lovely old fashioned hotel with lots of character. Very helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast

Review 40:The staff was incredibly friendly, the restaurant served great wine and dinner. It was a perfect locale to attend a wedding at Villa D'este. We were also excited that a live band performed by the lake and partiers of all ages danced, ate gelato and generally looked fabulous.

Review 41:Hotel is in serious need of refreshing. Everything is dated and worn, the bedding, the furniture, the lobby, etc. The breakfast was very average.

Review 42:Location is great, right int he centre of town access to transport and the charming surroundings. Hotel is quiet. Bar and front terrace are very suitable after a long day.

Review 43:The lake view from our room was excellent. Great to sit out on the balcony with a glass of prosecco and some antipasto from room service or dinner downstairs on the terrace with lake view also excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 44:1. Pillows were like stones.... 2. Room was very tiny, 3. You need to pay 5 euro for WiFi although outside you have comoconnection for free 4. Definitely can not be rated as 4 stars hotel

Review 45:Location is good, next to the lake

Review 46:I just don't like chintzy wallpaper, particularly on the ceiling. The décor and fittings were all a little too precious for my taste. The reception staff seemed somewhat surly. It was a shame to have to close the bedroom windows because someone below was smoking on their balcony.

Review 47:Drinking aperitifs on terrace overlooking the lake. Bar service excellent Room was comfortable View from bedroom was great

Review 48:Nothing really.

Review 49:Ideal location, and nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff, who seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that their guests had a most enjoyable stay

Review 50:Hotel in a very good area with a fantastic lake view and mountains. Hotel restaurant is good. Reception staff very helpful and friendly and so is Emanuele the barman.

Review 51:5 euro wifi is a tad silly when the island has a free connection. It can get rather noisy with the mature western european elite getting their rocks off and guffawing into the early hours. Standard rooms are small.

Review 52:the view, the location, the town, the staff. Nice hotel that is still relatively affordable for an expensive part of the world. Clean and comfortable with a good breakfast

Review 53:The room was very small but having the balcony was great. Sitting having drinks overlooking the lake was perfect. The room was very clean and the staff quite helpful. The best part was the food. We ate dinner there both nights and it was beautiful. The breakfast especially the scrambled eggs were wonderful. We would recommend staying here

Review 54:The room was small room with quite few facilities broken (wardrobe mirror, shower, glass,...) carpet dirty needing a substantial shampooing,....

Review 55:Position

Review 56:Some of the secondary waitress staff at breakfast didn't keep up with resupplying the coffee urns and food items even early into the breakfast time schedule, but that may have been staff in training.

Review 57:Nice rooms & great new shower/bathroom, views and good breakfast. Right at Lake Como, easy walk to several restaurants, shops, Villa D'este and boat excursions. Beautiful park right there with a enjoyable outdoor produce and merchandise market set up on Wednesday mornings!

Review 58:The rest of the staff were very uninterested in helping a person visit their town. I was surprised. I wanted to like the hotel, but found it cold and unwelcoming. Especially a person traveling alone.

Review 59:There was a wonderful woman running the breakfast. She was so helpful and on top of things

Review 60:Very small shower... You have to open the door to pick-up the soap...

Review 61:The bacony room on the lake. Food good althoug not many choices forfood. Cheapest way to reach by boat from Como 2,50 euros instead of20,00 euros taxi.

Review 62:uncomfortable man made pillows.

Review 63:The traditional building. The excellent staff - nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect. Good choice on both Lunch and Dinner menues

Review 64:Bedrooms are compact but very clean, with everything you need in them including a kettle.Hotel is in need of a makeover since decor is very outdated. Free wifi should be included.

Review 65:Fantastic location by the lakeside. Great views from the bedroom window. Staff were friendly and efficient. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights of our stay because the food was very good. A great base for exploring all the beautiful towns and villages around.

Review 66:Would have preferred a less formal restaurant for dinner with better value for money and more attentive service. Breakfast was good.

Review 67:Lovely location/view and helpful reception

Review 68:The position of the Miralago is excellent. Cernobbio is one of the best places to stay in order to take ferries to Como, Bellagio & other lake towns.

Review 69:Bed for 3rd adult was small Breakfast choice was limited Car parking was a drive away from hotel

Review 70:Rooms available to sleep 3 adults Setting close to the lake Friendly staff Secure parking Clean and tidy bedroom

Review 71:There is very little to dislike once accepting the rooms are a little on the small side but adequate.

Review 72:The Miralago is situated in a predominant position and good for views of the lake and access to the Lake Navigation. A couple of minutes and you are at the pier. The accommodation is very good though the rooms are compact they are well furnished. Changes of bedding and towels every day was a surprise.Coming back to an obviously cleaned room was very welcome. The restaurant was first rate with a good selection throughout the day. The thing that most impressed was the friendly family feeling promoted by the most helpful staff who had your comfort and well being foremost. We would like to return in the future and would recommend The Miralago to all age groups.including dog owners like us.

Review 73:The shower was so small, an average size person could barely get in & move around Plus, the water escaped under base of shower floor which could result in a severe accident. Air conditioner could not be adjusted

Review 74:Fantastic location Good access to ferry for sightseeing & close proximity to restaurants The steelroller shutters prevented outside noise from nearby restaurants

Review 75:Regular rooms are very small and overpriced for what they offer. The breakfast was less than ordinary with very limited items offered in the buffet and less than average service. Many of the hotel staff did not speak English which was a bit frustrating especially in the restaurant and breakfast area.

Review 76:The hotel location was terrific ovelooking the lake with a large open area in front of the hotel which was very lively and full of action all day long. Food at the hotel restaurant was excellent and the hotel staff very helpful and friendly. The corner room was spacious and comfortable compared with very small ordinary rooms.

Review 77:No car park on site

Review 78:Had 4 days at this lovely hotel in one of the prettier towns aside Lake Como. Perfect location. Best meal we had was at the hotel and there was stiff opposition. Hotel is showing some sings of age but others will say that is character.

Review 79:No problems with the hotel Had problems at the bus terminal at Como. Arrived by train and bought a bus ticket to Cernobbio Asked the person who sells the bus ticket. How often the bus comes and his answer was I only sell the tickets. I don't know the times The information Centre at the train station was very helpful. Eventually we caught a taxi It was about 20 euros As we had luggage we were happy with this

Review 80:A great position overlooking lake. If you want this ask for it. It does cost extra but well worth it Staff were very helpful Very close to ferry terminal Great trips to other villages Close to Como short taxi ride Adequate breakfast not 5 star but good

Review 81:Though perfectly functional, the room (especially the bathroom) could do with updating.

Review 82:Friendly, helpful staff, stunning view of the lake, nice location in the heart of the village. We had breakfast on our balcony overlooking the lake at no extra cost.

Review 83:we had to go home !

Review 84:Perfect location, busy enough but away from the crowds and with speed boat hire opposite the hotel front door, there was nothing more we could of asked for to entertain the teenager, a'James Bond' speed boat to belt up and down the lake !!

Review 85:The room and bathroom were a bit small. But who cares!!....

Review 86:We had a stunning view from our 4th floor room and a balcony. It was easy to just sit and watch everyone go about their business. Close to the ferry stop so easy to get around the lake. Comfortable bed.

Review 87:The family room was too small. There was no space to move. The bathroom was build for one person. The room was not a family room (we were 4 Persons !) The straff at the restaurant had no experience and weren't helpful at all. The offer for breakfast very poor. No offer for coffee or tea.

Review 88:The lady at the reception was very fiendly and helpful.

Review 89:Upholstery was a bit tired in downstairs lounge. Shower was extremelysmall and there were some language issues in understanding that thewindows had to be locked as well as closed for air-con to work.

Review 90:Fabulous location on a village square. View of the lake. Great breakfastand wi-fi was reasonable.

Review 91:Room was very small, but there was plenty of cupboard space so with a bit of thoughtful unpacking, we were not inconvenienced at all.

Review 92:We had a lake view room on the 4th floor with a balcony, the view was stunning. Lovely old building & delightful decor in the main lobby, bar and restaurant. Staff very helpful and welcoming.

Review 93:need to pay internet with the high room prices is ridiculous . Breakfast was a " cost saving " solution Room just a bit bigger than a bed inside

Review 94:location is great

Review 95:the staff was MORE than helpful and responded well to even our most challenging requests. the rooms were well apportioned and as described. we appreciated our water view (even in the rain)!

Review 96:Beautiful location, good restaurant and food. Comfortable.

Review 97:Too short a stay...
