Reviews for Dan Jerusalem Hotel

Review 1:Food is a big issue. There is no civilisation around the hotel so if you want to eat out, take a taxi. The main restaurant is buffet only…no use if you are not a big eater. There is a tiny, dimly lit, soul-less area of the lower lobby that is the `dairy restaurant' where you can eat some basic food to fill your stomach. Room service is godawful quality. And beware - after Shabath on Fri sunset you can get nothing to eat!! Not even room service or hot coffee. A kindly doorman helped us order a giant pizza from a non-Kosher restaurant so we survived. Roaming around in Jerusalem after dark is not a great option - so the hotel has to ensure guests are well fed. I'm really surprised at the lack of thought and hospitality.

Review 2:The hotel is located on a mountain top and the views are superb Reception staff is sulky but most others are superbly helpful and caring. My son fell ill and I had a doctor within 2 hours, and the hotel arranged to get us the prescription medicines over the phone. Good breakfast - as in all of Israel.

Review 3:The heating in our room did not work and after an initial check, in which a technician confirmed that the heating did not work, no further action was taken. The synagogue's open hours were not publicized.

Review 4:Overall, our experience was good.

Review 5:Nothing. Just the fact that I had to pack.

Review 6:From the moment we arrived, we had a great check in experience atreception with Amit. He did all he could to understand and make allarrangements necessary. I was checking in for 5 rooms, not an easy task, but he performed it with professionalism and a smile. We all receivedvery nice rooms, clean and spacious, all of them equipped with allpossible amenities ( hair dryer, iron and ironing board, slippers, robe, flat screen tv, safe, coffee machine and/or kettle...) The breakfastbuffet are great and so are the Shabbat meals. We absolutely loved thelounge ( You must book Executive with lounge access to get in though). It's really worth it. The views from the hotel are stunning, it is alarge and bright place wher eyou never feel locked up. It is oppositethe Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and it is in Jerusalem, not in EastJerusalem as stated. Given the actual circumstamces in Israel - andelsewhere should we add-, I would say that is the best hotel to stayinto at the moment when spending a few days with your family or friends. It isn't far away from the city centre and taxis are safely calledto the hotel by the staff. The leisure centre has very good classes, swimming pool, jaccuzzi, sauna, hamman ( with separate facilities fromthe ladies' changing room) , a great fitness and an outdoor pool inseason, tennis courts, a playground for kids... The gm is always presentand browsing the hotel to make sure all is well. We organised a party atthe Dan Jerusalem and it was a stunning event in all aspects. What morecan one wish for?Well done to our dearest Oshrat - Event Manager, to Amit and Amir at reception, to Sbeih our event coordinator on the day, to Nasser and all staff at the dining room, to Sivan and Sharona at the lounge for their patience with our slightly noisy family :), to the deputy GM and to Mr Kraus. We will come back and advertise you all. You deserve it.

Review 7:Entire hotel is delapidated, the spa is falling apart and filthy, the staff is apathetic. Room cleaning consists if changing towels and making the bed, nothing further.... The list is long.

Review 8:The meal Friday night

Review 9:The staff didn't have good English, they weren't particularly helpful with getting around. Probably overpriced for the equivalent in the U.S. Flooring scheme was a little disorienting (you have to go up to go down)

Review 10:The facilities were very nice, the food supplied banquet style for our group was outstanding. Room was comfortable, tad small but comfortable. Could walk to Old Jersusalem in about 20 minutes, or take the light rail.

Review 11:Meals were very expensive for what was served. Kosher breakfst was less than satisfying. Staff were somewhat less than helpful.

Review 12:Well appointed suite with nice little touches. Spa and other amenities were very nice.

Review 13:I was absolutely impressed by the professionality of the personnel. They were able to address my request quickly and with pleasure. I did have some troubles with the booking through the agent (Booking.com) and at the hotel they were able to help me with everything. Thank you guys, you saved me!

Review 14:scarey times security wise near old city.glad tho it's in jerusalem.expensive

Review 15:massage.good bed and room with kettle and tea/coffee.ambiece in lobby and background music.hrs of breakfast.restaurant excellent food and service.great varied delicious breakfast

Review 16:Some rude and unhelpful staff, especially at check-in,poor daily room cleaning and restocking of basics!

Review 17:Great location with views, balcony rooftop with room, nice bar, restaurant on our floor, wonderful pool

Review 18:They promised that the food was Glatt kosher but when we get to hotel we found out it's only kosher so we couldn't eat the meat and was charged full price for food and would like a nice discount 250 dollars

Review 19:Food oriented to Israeli cuisine. Breakfast buffet was not oriented for western culture. Also, I had booked the hotel on a flat rate, when I did the check out, the staff had calculated my stay on a daily fare for each of the days I stayed. This brought an increase of more than $600 of what I had booked.

Review 20:Hotel was in the area we were going to be.

Review 21:The bedroom decor - it was brown and beige and very gloomy. Even though the breakfast room was almost empty I was made to move to a smaller table and made to feel uncomfortable by the head of the dining room. It took a long time to get some hot water for tea.

Review 22:The reception service was polite and efficient. The lobby was pleasant with a water feature. Room service was very quick. The bread at breakfast was exceptional.

Review 23:It would be helpful to extend the hours of the Executive Lounge, so you don't feel rushed in the evening.

Review 24:It is in a quiet area with the best view of the Old City. The Executive rooms are very nice, and the Executive Lounge is comfortable and friendly, with great food, and staff. The front desk staff and management are also friendly and accommodating.

Review 26:The King David Lounge ist excellent! You can have the whole day drinks and snacks for free. The Gym is also very good. Many machines. From leg press to free weights, everything there.

Review 27:Booking was made through Booking.Com hence when we arrived to the hotel found that the room was different than the photos shown on the internet.

Review 28:Liked the location of the hotel overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. Also, the assistance from the manager in charge changing the room

Review 29:Old, dirty & Stained furniture had a party near our room andvery noisy

Review 30:Large Property. We Checked in to a really old and dated room on a lowerfloor (Lobby is on 6th). The ac was not working and very hot. Furniturewas old and stained. We were moved to a better & Cleaner room butstill very old. Decor and furniture look like 1970's

Review 31:Everything was great!

Review 32:extremely friendly staff, amazing pool area and excellent wifi :) it was a honeymoon stay and we got lots of congratulations and a nighttime platter of cheese and fruit! Delicious!

Review 33:A smart - if rather older hotel in need of refurbishing , although not too shabby for age. Was a bit expensive for what it was. Were upgraded - so was happy with that. Excellent breakfast included and that was the highlight of the day - eat till you drop :)

Review 34:the location is a bit far from the center (we had a car so it didn't bother us. There's a public transportation near by, again we didn't use it)

Review 35:the staff was very polite, we had a little problem with the safe and it was fixed immediately. We celebrated our anniversary and was treated with a cake and some fruits complimentary of the hotel when we got to the room

Review 36:It was a shame the pool was not open for the children in the daytime.

Review 37:The staff were lovely helpful and obliging. Breakfast was fantastic , lots of choice. The room was comfortable and clean.

Review 38:We can't think of anything negative about our stay.

Review 39:We liked the room, breakfast, the service (particularly front desk), the lobby, restaurants, and the total package.

Review 40:The hotel was shabby and damp. Also it is quite far from the city center and most attractions.

Review 41:The views of the city are very special. The complimentary breakfast was generous and the food was fresh.

Review 42:Internet did not work at all... the staff tried to help but it was not successful at all...

Review 43:Good breakfast and the hotel allowed a late checkout without any fee... so it was good

Review 44:This was the most expensive accommodation during our ten day Israel vacation. The outdoor pool was closed during the winter months. No city view from our room. The room temperature control was a problem. We could not adequately control the heater and the room was too warm at night. On the first morning of our stay we received an unrequested wake-up call at 5:00 AM. There is no easy access to the Old City, other than a taxi. It is located in east Jerusalem. This hotel appears better suited for business travelers. I recommend that a tourist find a hotel in West Jerusalem located within easy and safe walking distance to the Old City.

Review 45:The room was upgraded to a suite at check-in. We had spa privileges, but did not use because we were busy doing sightseeing and experiencing the city. The included breakfast had great variety and quality. Hotel is situated on a hill. An usual feature is that the lobby floor is located on the 6th (top) floor. There is a panoramic view of Jerusalem and Mount of Olives from hotel observation deck.

Review 46:Nothing to hate about it

Review 47:Just want to say its a fantastic hotel. It's away from the other hotel which keeps it quite. Staff very helpful and a stunning hotel

Review 48:Old furniture, dirty toilet :-( Unpractical wardrobe

Review 49:Nice view to Jerusalem, good breakfast, helpful staff Connected rooms if prefered Good place to stay if you want to visit certain parts of HUJI and Bezalel, if you want to take a bus to the dead sea and if you prefer to stay out of the city center ... if not, take the hotel downtown (taxi downtown costs ca. 50 NIS, cca 330 NIS from the TLV airport (at night))

Review 50:Not a thing -

Review 51:Luxury room amenities, full gym, incredible breakfast (best I have had in Israel), very accommodating staff, free and ample parking. Gave me an upgrade and extended check out.

Review 52:Some furniture needs urgent upgrade needs clearer indicator towardsrooms and facilities; after one day you figure it all, but arriving bynight makes finding your way a bit difficult (when is nobody around)

Review 53:The location is spectacular; clever design of the whole hotel

Review 54:I wish the receptionists were a little bit more friendly and polite. During the check in I didn't feel I was particularly welcome, quite the contrary. Except the unpleasant encounter at the reception, my overall experience with the hotel was a nice one.

Review 55:a. Forget the food. b. When riding the elevator, it may happen that employees riding with you will talk about you, thinking you don't understand the language they are speaking. Well, it was a it funny, but the hotel should take care and send an order forbidding staff to do that, in any language.

Review 56:Very good personell and very nice and clean rooms.

Review 57:Can't think of anything

Review 58:great, abundant breakfast buffet; beautiful lobby and common areas;special treats for kids; lovely swimming pool; friendly, well kept and fresh

Review 59:Tired bedrooms and bathrooms Unreliable wi-fi (sometimes works, often didn't)

Review 60:Lounges Pool area Near to public transport (tram into downtown Jerusalem) Helpful check in, pool and bedroom staff

Review 61:1. Room was old and had a smell of smoke combined with humidity 2. The beds were sinking 3. The bathroom was disgusting 4. Its far from the old city. For $300+ per night look for something else in Jerusalem

Review 118:Use of executive lounge

Review 119:Amazing entrance hall, perfect views to Jerusalem, kind service. Nice staying! :)

Review 120:Limited or no information regarding local travel option and staff are not very helpful in giving information

Review 121:Lot of outdoor space in the hotel for children to enjoy

Review 122:The rooms are not new.

Review 123:Hotel with a good structure, Fantastic breakfast. Spa, Fitness Center and pool clean and comfortable. It has bars and restaurants with beautiful city views. Hotel typical of person that comes in excursions. Own and free guest parking.

Review 124:Hotel corridors were like echo chambers (could hear everyone passing the room and anyone talking even at the end of the hallway). Housekeeping woke us by knocked on our door at midnight to deliver a pillow we never ordered. Website said free shuttle to Old City and altho we requested it for the next day, it never showed up forcing us and others to take taxis. Dinner buffet was expensive, 45USD.

Review 125:Unique architecture, Turkish baths, pool, gym, large rooms, comfy beds.

Review 126:For room service, I had asked for one entree and two side portions. Instead, I received three entree sizes and was charged for all three as entrees. $115 for one meal? Those in the kitchen must understand English more clearly.

Review 127:The room was lovely, and the service impeccable. Very clean throughout. The front desk staff was most helpful. I would stay here again.

Review 128:staff were pleasant and accommodating...the hotel supervisor for the morning breakfast and dining is very kind and friendly.. will surely going to come back.

Review 129:The indoor swimming pool wasn't open for the kids ( not signed in the presentation of the hotel) - all the facilities closed at 18 p.m- the staff not realy helpful.

Review 130:Some facilities
