Reviews for Travelodge Waterford

Review 1:We arrived before check in at 3 and they would not even consider letting us in

Review 2:The bed was the most comfortable of our entire trip. The staff were helpful, a little bit on the outskirts of city but not too far

Review 3:Bedside lockers not cleaned. Bathroom floor grubby. Room cold, heating not on or apparently working. No hairdryer. Corridors smelly.

Review 4:Location and convenience at short notice.

Review 5:It says on the website smoking rooms available but it's all non smoking going for smoke at 3am alone not appealing shower took ages to heat up didn swap from shower/bath no hair dryers wire loose in tv wen listening to radio station kept knocking off

Review 6:The staff were so nice plce was clean beds were comfy

Review 7:Very run down, best to close the place and refurb rather than kept selling rooms which are smelly, old, radiators hanging off wall etc to customers. Worse travelodge I have stayed in. Othe travelodge's have been great.

Review 8:Okay price and alright location

Review 9:Room didnt meet modern day requirments. Only one extra socket..no sockets at the bed..towel rail heater broken in the bathroom..to cold to have a bath...there also was a smell of sewage felt thru entire stay for some reason.

Review 10:Good location. Friendly staff

Review 11:The fire alarm went off twice during the night. There were no staff available to explain or tell us if it was a genuine emergency or a false alarm. There was a very noisy group of people standing around at the main entrance which was right outside our window, smoking and shouting until 3 am We could not sleep at all.

Review 12:Room was spacious and clean enough

Review 13:We had a room right in front of reception on the ground floor. This was very noisy especially at night when people were running up and down the corridor slamming doors. Also at 5.00am there were people shouting about taxies outside my window, it did not make for a pleasant night. Reception should of asked them to be quiet or a sign put up.

Review 14:The location was near a few restaurants. It comes in handy where there is no breakfast served on site. Bed was clean.

Review 15:Location is a bit far away from city center. If you like to walk it's ok, but otherwise you'll need a car.

Review 16:I liked peace and quiet and opportunity to rest. The staff is polite and helpful. Very nice fast food restaurant in complex is a place where I will come back again.

Review 17:Almost everything....it was like a hostel.....everything was budget from the tired curtains to the room fixtures & fittings to the bathroom fitout. Smell troughout was oldy musty smell. Would never revisit here & absolutely no facilities eg bar/restauraunt...would only be on a par with a hostel & probably should be advertised as a hostel

Review 18:Great power in shower & location was fine on the outskirts of the city (would need a car)

Review 19:Socket was faulty. Told staff twice nothing was done. Sizzling sound coming from plug. This isn't safe. TV kept turning off if u went to plug something else in.

Review 20:Room was nice and clean fresh towels every morning. Staff were friendly

Review 21:NOT ENOUGH PLUG SOCKETS;1 WAS OUT OF ACTION. LONG CORRIDORS/DISTANCE FROM ENTRANCE TO ROOM. SINK HAD DRAINAGE PROBLEM

Review 22:CLEAN, GOOD CLEANING STAFF, QUIET.

Review 23:Smell of new paint and carpet in the room was very harsh... Toilet roll holder hanging off wall mattress needs to be thrown out its ridiculously uncomfortable and thin

Review 24:No bad experiences but at least one or two easy chairs in room would have been nice as no lounges.

Review 25:Good location on way out of city. fairly quiet. Very reasonable price. Joe's Diner very convenient and provided the sort of breakfasts and suppers we needed. Room kept v.clean with plentiful of fresh linen.TV v. good and provided enough UK programmes inc. coverage of Rugby World Cup.Cofortable

Review 26:bed was very uncomfortable and bathroom not immaculate not impressed with having to give a deposit when paying cash for the room

Review 27:Location was good Staff were very helpful in getting a doctor and showing us where to go

Review 28:I didn't like that when you walked out into the hall it was lovely and warm but yet our room was freezing and the radiator wasn't working. Also when I used the shower the whole bathroom flooded!!

Review 29:Convenient location!

Review 30:lack of facilities, breakfast options were very poor, I'd suggest the place across the road for food for breakfast.

Review 31:the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 32:I would never ever stay here again!!.. I was very upset with my stay! The noise was unbelievable people that was in a room above us didn't stop making noise all night long got no sleep at all!! The next day had very bad bags under my eyes (which I've nvr had in my life!) ... When to complain in reception and there was no staff there I would have demanded my money back! .. The cleaners were knocking the door down at 11:15am for us to get out when it clearly saids online checkout at 12 and was also told by staff checkout was 12pm.. Was very annoyed over my stay lads outside drinking all night from some party stags night I think .. Had to drive on a two hour drive back to Dublin that day and was wrecked after getting no sleep!

Review 33:I liked that it was close to the town

Review 34:The Shower was broken and the noise through the ceiling from people walking in the Room above mine allowed no sleep. Doors slamming at all hours very noisy

Review 35:I am in US and paid for the stay of a friend with her children dealing with a family issue in Waterford, IE. I used American Express and was able to contact staff about issues directly through their hotel website.

Review 36:Room stank of cigarette smoke double bed had springs sticking out of mattress was a little noisy but to be expected when people stand 6 foot away from your window throughout the night in smoking area

Review 37:staff friendly and polite

Review 38:No free wi-fi.

Review 39:Spacious room with nice desk area and two chairs. Helpful front desk staff, onsite parking and not too far to walk into city centre. Good location as also close to Lidl for supplies.

Review 40:Surcharge for Internet access per one device - is awful. Could not get confirmation of booking made by hotel - They has not sent it to me, despite my request.

Review 41:Good location. Has parking. Simple clean hotel room.

Review 42:Beds uncomfortable- mattresses need replacing. No use of hotel agreeing and it's due to happen! Bathroom dirty, built up grime in curtain, tiles and plug

Review 43:Location, free parking

Review 44:Appalling hotel! Booked a family room. One double bed and an unmade sofa bed with no linen. Room filthy. Toilet would not flush properly. Door did not lock securely. As a woman with 2 young children was seriously concerned for personal safety as lot of drunk people in corridor throughout the night. Left as early as possible. This hotel should be shut down. Never before have stayed in such an appalling place anywhere in the world and have stayed in venues from backpacker hostels to 5 star hotels for both business and pleasure. Please please do not go here

Review 45:Nothing!

Review 46:bed was awful . no springs in mattress. bathroom ceiling had mould on it . fittings coming off the wall. door had patched up hole in it . carpet not hovered. and the best bit ONE plug in the whole room.

Review 47:good location

Review 48:bed was awful . bathroom had mouldy ceiling, fittings coming off the wall, hole in door, carpets were dirty pillowcases on inside out. really needs refurbishment and the best bit ONE plug in the room

Review 49:location was handy as it is close to the city

Review 50:Uncomfortable bed, I paid for a "Triple room" which only included one double bad and a dirty, ripped sofa bed! There was also do bed sheets, extra pillows, or a blanket left for this sofa bed. Th

Review 51:Location

Review 52:Room and entire upstairs smells of cigarette smoke. Interior gives the impression of no maintenance ever done. You have to pay for wifi. The price.

Review 53:Friendly staff.

Review 54:Read above

Review 55:The room we had was next to a McDonald's car park with high revving cars and noisy customers so we couldn't sleep until 4.30am. For 101 euros we didn't get a wink of sleep as we had to leave at 6am. All the staff said when we complained was the manager was aware but no alternatives were offered...

Review 56:The matress of the bed was min. 20 years old ore older. It was only possible to sleep there with another blancet over it. w lan for 5 euros per day? In every B&B it 's free!!!!

Review 57:Our room was a disgrace, everything was filthy, bedding was disgusting, it was fit for the bin years ago! All we had was a kettle, no tele, the bed for the other person was a pull out board under thee couch, you wouldn't put a dog on it. The double bed had a huge hole in the mattress that you roll into everytime you move. The toilet door got stuck & you had to kick the door with force to open it. Staff were very rude, when we made a complaint, didn't care whatsoever, even tho we were paying €109 for an absolute disgrace of a room. She wouldn't help us at all, just moved us into the room next door that was the exact same, disgusting! When we moved out the 'couch bed' it looks like it had never been hoovered since the 'hotel' opened. will never ever stay there again!!!

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The room and facilities where dreadful. Most uncomfortable bed ever slept in and bathroom not great.

Review 60:Nothing accept staff where pleasant and location was good.

Review 61:Paying for WiFi. Similar priced hotels provide WiFi free. 5 Euro per device per day is ridiculous and a definate off-putter for business people as well as the average traveller. It should be FREE!!!!

Review 62:Price and location was good, the rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful.

Review 63:The room was too small, I asked for a cot for my baby and got a broken one so she couldn't sleep in it, though it says it's for families it isn't, it's more suited to young people who don't really care about the standard or the noise.

Review 64:The staff were really helpful

Review 65:I stayed with my 3 children whom are 13 12 and 8 for 4 nights in a room that only had 2 of everything, it had a single and a double bed and for the price I paid I couldn't believe no breakfast included. Was so disappointing

Review 66:The carpets throughout were filthy and smelled bad, even in our room. The bathroom looked clean, but smelled like urine. The Wi Fi cost 5€ per day and was weak.

Review 67:The location was convenient to the city Centre and to the Waterford Crystal factory.

Review 68:Room has plenty of space, considering we were in two in a triple bedroom. Quiet position and not so far from city centre. Better if you get there by car, though. The hotel has a private free parking. There were kettle, cups and free tea or coffee in bedroom. Clean and everything in good condition.

Review 69:I didnt like that you had to pay to use the wifi for each person for €5 and a cleaner came into my room to clean it up and my brothers tablet (medication) was removed off the window sill

Review 70:The room was nic and relaxing

Review 71:No free wifi, no 4th bed in room, only a small pull out bed under the 3rd bed which is then on the floor and which you have to make up yourself on arrival. Not enough towels, only food available is from Joes Diner attached, which is closed if you arrive or depart late or early, also full amount of booking has to paid on arrival, none of which is advised on the booking.com website. Not sure which was worse, the shouting from youths outside the window or the persistent shouting in the corridors in the middle of the night

Review 72:Bed was comfortable if only the noise from outside the building and inside the corridors allowed any sleep

Review 73:It's a long list... what I can say. .is the poor girl,Anna, can't say she was just the receptionist.. She was the only person in the hotel, friday night, busy night..who was replacing the linen, who was hoovering our room at 11pm (dirty carpet )..apologising for the dirty cup in the room...and ripped sofas and dirty stains on the bed sheets.

Review 74:Unfortunately was the worst experience in my life. Travelodge got update all over the country. ..but not in Waterford -the holiday city (except the curtains ). Anna at the reception desk was the only highlight.

Review 75:The windows on the first room we were given didn't close securely and when I asked for a window lock key I was told they are not available. Apart from the fact it was on the ground floor we also had an expensive piece of sporting equipment with us so needed to know our room was secure.

Review 76:Staff were very helpful and polite.

Review 77:i went 2 adults and two children the room had only 2 cups and asked at reception for 1 more and they could not find one so we had to take turns.the breakfastbox was very poor.

Review 78:the bed .the way you can come and go easily

Review 79:The mattress, was so worn, the springs were all i could feel, i would have had a better sleep, if i had slept on the floor, it had to be the single most awful travelodge i stayed in. complaining the following morning, fell on deaf ears, i travelled 3.5 hours to get a good nights rest, before a meeting on monday morning, no sleep , no rest , never been so dissatisfied with a hotel room in my life

Review 80:Good location

Review 81:Dated rooms in need of renovation, toilets leaking and smelling, uncomfortable beds. Lack of onsite facilities, which is not clear when booking

Review 82:We would have liked e simple breakfast in the hotel e.g. fruit, cereal and an egg. Also it would have been nice to have a hairdryer in the room.

Review 83:We liked the large quiet room. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 84:Redundant shower gel dispensers on wall. Banged in to them several times. Get the removed!

Review 85:Lovely comfortable bed. As good as sleeping my own bed. No noise from other rooms.

Review 86:The bed was hard and had springs poking out! Moved rooms but kept awake by coming and goings all night and thumping on ceiling in floor above!

Review 87:Location good and friendly staff!

Review 88:No hair dryer in room.

Review 89:Close proximity to waterford rsc , which is why we came to Waterford. Covered walkway to adjacent diner was very handy, and the staff were very friendly.

Review 90:when booking i asked for a quiet area of the hotel ,we were in room 33,& we were awoken several times during the night by people talking & laughing in the car park outside. We were also awakened towards morning by someone moving heavy objects on a concrete floor, like in a weights room.

Review 91:Wifi not easily access able and you have to register before use very long winded and after long day with customers and traveling not conjusive to a restful night

Review 92:Locality and price

Review 93:The wifi is €5 for 24hours, can't remember paying for wifi in this 21st century.

Review 94:I liked the location and between two different restaurants so that's handy.

Review 95:It was like I imagine walking into an asylum. It Smelled of odd chemicals and the room reaked of urine. We were too exhausted to deal with complaining and moving so they weren't given the opportunity to change it but based off the hallways I doubt another room would have been better. Our B&B was like being at grandmas and only 8 euros more with breakfast!

Review 96:What I liked best? Leaving. It was easy to leave.

Review 99:Booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children. We had to make up the sofa bed and the pull out bed ourselves. Our room smelt of cigarettes and was really over powering.

Review 100:The only thing I liked was the location.

Review 101:Furniture is worn off, very very old matress on the bed is like sleeping on springs , dirty bathroom very poore cleanliness. A mail member of staff on the reception was wearing womans bage . there was a young girl signing in with the box of beer saying that she gonna drink it by her self. Seeing that we asked for the room as far as possible from her room.

Review 102:it was just very basic, not much, wouldn't stay longer than two nights.

Review 103:perfect for just the one night, great location for food, walking distance to the city centre

Review 104:Paying for WiFi ? No plug sockets besides the one at table not handy .. No indecation on how you go about ordering breakfast.. No phone to contact reception ,no elevator..

Review 105:Was what you paid for

Review 106:Bog standard hotel on edge of town, situated in a retail /industrial area. Very basic for the price we paid on bank holiday weekend. Wouldn't rush back, much better and cheaper hotels around.

Review 107:Felt vulnerable as lots of people in reception in slippers & pjs like i walked into a hostel more than a hotel!! Very noisy with people walking around the corridors all night! This place seemed like a social welfare overflow & should not be classed as a hotel!!

Review 108:Fantastic helpful staff

Review 109:This seem to be a large house for the social welfare!! Lots of people sitting around in their slippers & walking round in their pjs!! Very noisey!

Review 110:Staff very nice

Review 111:I asked for a first floor room and i was giving downstairs room were all the shower room was fitted for somebody who was disabled .I was told all the other rooms had gone.

Review 112:Staff could have smiled be friendly Did not feel safe on our returne from our evening there were a group of kids lurking in the car park as two to gain access one at front door another at ground level window actually left drove around and came back to find the Garda had been called , this made us feel uneasy concerned for our car in turne little sleep so what was to be a chilled bk in Waterford was a worry .

Review 113:Location value for money

Review 114:There was an old chewing gum in one of the tea cups. Bed was uncomfortable. We booked two triple rooms one had a TV one hadn't, one had shampoo one hadn't. Hard to access internet.

Review 115:The room was old and musty and quiet dirty. The matress was yellow with dirt, the blankets the same and there was a huge stain on it. The people working there were also very ignorant. I would like to get my mo eky back to be honeat i would of only paid €10 if i had a choice to stay there. Not worth €60.

Review 116:Getting out of there

Review 117:The rooms are not up to the standard of Travellodge hotels in UK so we were a bit disappointed. It is too far to walk into town when it's very cold.

Review 118:Staff very helpful and friendly as we have always found at Tracellodges

Review 119:4 of us stayed had to book 2 family rooms as we weren't allowed 4 in a room even on arrival the room was set for 4, had to pay €52 to stay alone

Review 120:Rockin joes!

Review 121:They had family rooms available for the same price as doubles, so we ordered 3 family rooms, but they put us in doubles, which are more basic. The only ones who got family rooms were those who complained about the other ones until they got what they ordered. Quality still good of all rooms, just doesn't leave a pleasant feeling about their service when they wouldn't even ask if you're ok with a downgrade.

Review 122:The hotel was really great value for money compared to any other available. Shower was the best part - hot water, strong pressure of water - a rarity for Ireland.

Review 123:Have to pay for wifi and even that wasn't great speed.... Very poor quality bed.. Seems like this travelodge has been around a long time with very little investment in it as I have stayed in many others where everything was top class like limerick and galway....

Review 124:Didn't like that the heating is not turned on at all. Found the room very cold to come into first of all.

Review 125:The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean.

Review 126:Mould in the bathroom, cracked sink in the bathroom, one person on reception with a short temper on the phone trying to take a booking over the phone when we arrived to check in

Review 127:Check out was 12 not 11 like some hotels....

Review 128:Room was cold on arrival, and took some time to heat up. Rooms not very soundproof. Late night revelers in adjoining rooms at 4.00am were not helpful with sleep.

Review 129:Clean, basic, comfortable.

Review 130:Bed was the worst I have ever experienced, I didn't sleep at all. We left very early the next morning because It was so bad.

Review 131:Good Location. Horrible bed if you want to actually sleep pay an extra 30euro and get a nice hotel. The Room was clean and would be fine if you where highly intoxicated and happened to travel with a mattress topper otherwise avoid.

Review 132:Quite noisy- especially if in a room facing the entrance but the noise from the halls and joining bedrooms can be quite loud. The bed was'nt comfortable, along wit the fact that my bedsheets had several holes in it.

Review 133:Location, very close to the city Hassle free check in Big bathroom

Review 134:Not Sound Proof No local knowledge known by staff

Review 135:Rockin Joes eatery very tasty place and good selection with affordable prices availability of refreshments Good Parking area 24 hour reception

Review 136:I was contacted the day before (16/10) to confirm my stay and asked could I check in early as staying for a wedding and needed to change clothes as had a 2 hr trip. I was advised there is generally a €10 fee for early check in but as I just need to change it would not be a problem and I would not be charged this. I was then charged the extra €10 on arrival, even though I explained above. The sheets very rough and therefore did not feel fresh. There was a lot of noise outside the window in the morning which interrupted sleep. There was a peculiar smell in the room when we arrived. I would have been somewhat more satisfied with the stay based on the €52 that I should have been charged, in terms of value for money, but as the stay then amounted to €62 I could have booked a stay in a hotel close by for only €7 extra and had a full Irish breakfast, early check in and late check out included!

Review 137:Staff were pleasant. Option of drinks and breakfast were good.
