Reviews for Cempaka Villa
Review 1:The air condition was much too weak and ineffective, therefore it was very hot in the room during the day. Breakfast very simple.
Review 2:Very near to Borobudur temple. Garden was nice.
Review 3:The kitchen service was very slow, the food was okay but not great, they had to use a generator when the power went out.
Review 4:The location was fantastic and the tours the hotel organises like the horse cart ride through the village and the sunrise borobudur were really great.
Review 5:=>Aircorn system should upgrade, for a family room, it wasn't cold at all even we on the zircon to the lower temperature whole night. =>Breakfast dish served would need to improve. => water supply system in the bath room, halfway shower no water supply and would need to put on cloth and asked the staff to fix for us ..... => room floor was dirty, if expected to be dirty please provide slipper.
Review 6:Location / friendly staff
Review 7:mosquitoes inside room, and rains seepage thru roof top
Review 8:Very close and within short walking distance to manohana hotel entrance for the Borobudor sunrise tour. And our hotel offered motobike ride to the entrance at 430am. Staff and the owner/mgr are nice and friendly, they are quite accommodating and especially when my first room I booked had rains leak thru from roof, and they got us another smaller room changed with mosquito repellent and the owner offered me a free of charge motobike ride for the nearby village and temple upon my request.
Review 9:1. bugs in room, and on bed, but this is not the fault of the hotel, you choose to stay in countryside and this is something in expectation, if hotel can do better in pest control that'd be great!
Review 10:1. staff are extremely nice, polite, welcoming and helpful. 2. location close to Borobudur, 5 minutes walk 3. nice and cozy local style wooden small "villa" with a lovely bathroom attached in the back, translucent roof allow sunlight to come in, very different. 4. food are nicely prepared with good presentation, grilled chicken especially good, since Borobudur is not in City center, I suggest stay in hotel for food, price very good too. 5. good air-con and each room fitted with gas water heater, no problem with cool room temperature and have fast/constant hot water. 6. Overall good value for money and very pleasant stay.
Review 11:Room too cramped, without enough space for luggages and lizard in the room that kept making noises.
Review 12:the proximity to Borobudur Temple and the service.!
Review 13:Location- about 5-minute walk to Borobudur. Very helpful staff, especially Jeny :). She helped us with the arrangement of tour to Gunung Merapi and Borobudur Sunrise tour.
Review 14:Situated next to the Mosque with prayers starting at 4 am can be painful, if you are sensitive to this noise and you do not want to be waken up at 4am. (For sunrise visit this doesn't matter, as you have to get up at 4am latest). If you are sharing the villa, take in consideration that the bathroom is only separated by a courtan.
Review 15:The set up of the Compound and the individual Villa Room; very nice design. The proximity to the sunrise entrance to Borobudur Temple does make it easy in the morning to be there at 4.30 am (5 min drive and you can even walk). The Massage availability and that it is done next door in the second room of the villa. I would recommend it definately if you want to do the sunrise and if you anyhow need to get up early in the morning!
Review 16:1. not so much to discover or chill out around the hotel 2.the water leaked , sprayed everywhere after shower.
Review 17:the location is perfect to borobudour, walking distance is only 5 mins.
Review 18:Rooms are very small, Hot water facility is unreliable, Food not quite great. Had to ask for things like mosquito repellent etc. Hardly any surrounding area to the hotel.
Review 19:Staff was quite friendly and helpful. Location is quite near to Borobudur temple.
Review 20:- Breakfast a bit disappointing -When we arrived at 30 past midnight the gentleman very kindly proposed us a Sunset Borobudur tour, which I gently refused as I explained we were exhausted due to the 12h trip. He probably dismissed telling us that there was a Mosque just next to our room. What a surprise when we've been awake with VERY loud priers at 4:30 in the morning..I wouldn't mind if only I knew. But I really jumped out of the bed as I didn't expected it.
Review 21:- Staff very friendly and helpful - Very close to Borobudur Temple (not even 5mns by walk)
Review 22:The mosque volume is intense. It was impossible to ignore and had us up at 4am each day.
Review 23:The staff were very professional and helpful. The landscaping and green grass were lovely. The rooms were cute and the linens and extras were really welcome.
Review 24:We had only two complaints - the shower mixer did not work well - water was either hot or cold. The other is the very loud call to prayer every morning at 4:30, which is an issue for all hotels in this area.
Review 25:Cempaka Villa's location is excellent for visiting Borobudur, and it has a lovely setting. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights, and they had several other tours we could do in addition to Borobudur.
Review 26:The food needs improvement. The breakfast coffee was not drinkable!
Review 27:The staff is extremely helpful and the location is perfect for the Borobudur sunrise. They opened quite recently and the place clearly looks new and clean. Considering the very low price we did not have high expectations and were very happily surprised
Review 28:I don't fancy a bathroom that is partitioned with curtain. The outside noise is clearly audible as the bathroom top is only covered with tiles without any sound isolation. An advice, choose a room that is further inside to avoid the noise from the main road. Beer could be cheaper.
Review 29:Only 5 mins walk to Borobudur and the main street. Lots of restaurants nearby. Hotel offers reasonable priced dishes with excellent cook. Friendly and helpful staffs. Clean and tidy.
Review 30:Strange in a tropical place they have not fruit (mango?papaya?) they prepare breakfast sometimes the evening before and take it in the refrigerator.fruit salad strange!! It easy to do. The bring You apple with little souce...
Review 31:They are wanderfull !!!!!they help you for everythink
Review 32:The bathroom is separated from the room with a curtain. Strange, but OK for a night.
Review 33:Very close to borobudur temple, you can even ask for a takeaway breakfast early. The hotel is composed of villas that are arranged around a lovely garden. The later breakfast is great.
Review 34:The air conditioner is not powerful enough. It's a bit hot in the room during daytime even though it's on. The hot water of shower is not stable. It can never stay at constant temperature - either too hot or too cold and it keeps changing.
Review 35:The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Can hire bicycle to cycle around and buy Boroburdur tickets at the counter. The staff gave a morning call and took us to entrance with motorcycle. The garden is very beautiful and breakfast is nice.
Review 36:In the room there is a curtain instead of the wall to the bathroom. This is a little bit annoying. Bathroom didn't smell well. I founded there white balls on the floor, probably procetion from rats- this was smelling awful. American breakfast poor.
Review 37:Very nice garden and houses. Close to the temple Borobudur. Hotel gives you the possibility to rent a bikes or skuters.
Review 38:would have been good to know that the toilet and shower are separated from the beds with just a curtain. our sink also leaked.
Review 39:location, staff service, prompt replies to my many email queries
Review 40:Not a problem for us but bathrooms on rooms do not have doors. It looks amazing and very stylish (i liked it!) but i guess it's not a plus for everyone :)
Review 41:staff is extremely friendly and helpfull. The hotel is a 3 minute walk away from the temple. Nice restaurant and nice bungalow-like rooms with shared nice and quite garden. Dinner was very good.
Review 42:5 minutes walk to the Borobudur temple. Hotel staff can arrange sunrise entry to temple. It was very easy to rent a bicycle and the bikes were in very good condition. Good place to go for a ride.
Review 43:Sometimes is a bit noisy, with other customers/cleaners/gardener passing by and talking quite loudly. The aircond is not cool enough. The toilet has no wall and door.
Review 44:The staffs are very friendly and helpful in arranging my stay and day tours. The room is clean and comfortable.
Review 45:Toilet was separated/covered by a curtain. Disturbed to our sleep due to early morning payers
Review 46:Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Had Homely feeling. Very closed to Borobudur temple (good Location)
Review 47:Shower hot m cold water not consistent. Floor is abit dusty. Neighbour very noisy.
Review 48:Unique room design, garden is very beautiful. Staff very friendly n helpful, location very good just 5 mins to Borobudur. Bed comfy .
Review 49:The accomodation is rather basic, breakfast is a simple egg n two slices of toast. Overall, i think its not the best value for money
Review 50:Proximity to candi borobudor, ie 5 mins walk
Review 51:There could have been a wall or a door for the bathroom as we only had a curtain dividing it.
Review 52:The staff is really friendly and helpful when it comes to booking tours and transportation. The rooms looked quite upscale for the price and I had a great night's rest (despite the prayers). Finally, as others have said, the hotel is located 5 min away from the temple. It is also close to many street food stalls.
Review 53:The kettle should not be placed next to the sink, which in the toilet section. There was no permanent pattition between the bedroom and the toilet, but only certain...what a bit strange of room arrangement. The breakfast was available after 7am and it should be improved in term of varity...
Review 54:The positive points of this homestay were the location that very close to the Borobudur temple, the green grass and the hospitality of the staffs.
Review 55:poor breakfast, seemed a bit expensive compared to other properties in the area given lack of facilities.
Review 56:Staff were friendly, though understanding of Elglosh was mixed. Good location.
Review 57:Right next to several mosques. Didn't appreciate being woken up at 4.00am by the loudspeakers Breakfast really not good. V expensive beer.
Review 58:Nice spacious room. Comfortable beds
Review 59:The only thing I didn´t like was that we stayed only 2 days :(
Review 60:The location of Cempaka Villa is perfect! Only some minutes walk from Borobudur temples. Rooms are clean, nice and comfortable. The staff was really helpful! They helped us booking sunrise tour. I even got a motorbike lift to a money changer by the girl working at the reception :) Breakfast was also perfect!
Review 61:Takes commisions for booking taxies, etc. Too close to mosque speaker, thus guaranteed to be woken up before the sin rise.
Review 62:Also close to village specilized in making Tofu. Can rent bikes, scooters from the hotel.
Review 63:Be aware there is a mosque nearby so be prepared for an early and loud wake up call for morning prayer. We viewed it positively as we wanted to see sunrise over Borobudur anyway, but some people could find it disturbing.
Review 64:We have stayed just one night, arriving in the afternoon to be able to see Borobudur early in the morning. The invitation and general behaviour of the staff was very nice. The room was basic, but it had all we needed. If you look for an excellent value for money overnight stay few steps away from Borobudur look no further, this is it.
Review 65:Air condition v poor during daytime probably due to the expose toilet which just seperate from room through curtain
Review 66:Location walking distance to borobudur temple. New bathtub n room. Nice breakfast
Review 67:Breakfast is very basic, but ok. What I really didn't like is thatmy 2,5 year old son had accidentally broken a glass and they charged30000 iDR for the glass! It's ok to pay what my son had broken, butthe price charged was just ridiculous!
Review 68:It's very close to the temple and They bring you to Borobodur earlyin the morning for the sunset. It's very basic, but clean.
Review 69:No wine.
Review 70:Just completed earlier this year. Across the street from Borobudur. Yusuf and staff were terrific! Make sure you go to Villa and not the Guest House property.
Review 71:Location: very close to the entrance of the Sunrise tour of Borobudur. Apparently this is the newer property that belongs to this family and it shows: very welcoming staff, clean facilities. Good food.
Review 72:It's just disorganized, extremely badly isolated and next to a mosque and not to forget staff who don't understand any English. Sorry to say, it did not meet our expectations.
Review 73:Location
Review 74:It takes too long to have dinner , so the breakfast
Review 75:near to Manoha Hotel. 5mins drive (hotel will drive us to the Manoha hotel for sunrise). 15mins walk to Borobudur and stuff are very nice to motobicyle us to bus station heading for Jogyakarta good enviroment, will recommend to friends
Review 76:No WIFI connection in room; Air-con is new but no power; Hard to control hot water for shower, it's heated with gas.
Review 77:Very very close to Borobudur. Good place for short stay.
Review 78:Noisy. Muezzin sings at 4 : 30 am. Terrible breakfast
Review 79:Great location from borobudur. Good dinner. Convenient car and driver 450000 idr from airport to prambanan to hotel
Review 80:I arrived late at night and was hungry and didn't have local money to stop for food. Mr. Usep, the manager, was kind enough to get somebody to cook a bowl of chicken soup and rice for me. What a first impression! Then walked into the room to see the comfy looking bed (and it is comfy!) and a bath tub. For less than 35 USD a night, what I got (service, a room and the location) was worth every THB I spent.
Review 81:Air-cond is not really cold. No fridge in the room if you really need it, but they do have fridge and sell cold drinks in the lobby/dining area. Hot water for shower takes a little bit of time to get heated.
Review 82:Nice, cute, homey, comfortable, quiet and relaxing place. Low density place so it's really great for de-stressing. Staffs are super helpful and attentive and go out of the way to serve the guests (even when I ordered my dinner at half past 9). They also knocked the room to wake me up coz I was going for Borobudur sunrise and gave me a ride to Borobudur temple early in the morning at 4.30 AM. Walking distance to Borobudur temple (around 5-10 minutes). Room is very comfortable and is organized everyday. Bathroom is clean and has a bathtub, shower and hot water. Wifi is good in all area. Small yard at the back is really nice and cozy. Thank you so much especially to Mbak Rara and Mas Gepeng, I will definitely come back here again and again.
Review 83:However, the room was cramped and there was only a heavy curtain between the bedroom and bathroom, which is maybe okay for a family, but not if one is traveling with friends. Beware the extremely loud call-to-prayers at 4:30 a.m. Loudspeakers amplify it and it continues longer than at other places we've stayed. The food is very local -- I ordered a chicken satay and the meat was so scrawny it was inedible. I ate the rest of the meal, but actually threw it up. We ordered soups for the rest of our stay.
Review 84:it's only a 5-minute walk to Borobudur, and the staff is nice enough, giving advice and arranging drivers.
Review 85:Restaurant is at best mediocre (but easy to eat outside). Rooms are very small and don't have a door to the bathroom (just curtains)
Review 86:5 minutes walking to the temple entrance. Very engaged staff (but their English is very limited). They are currently buildung nice new bungalows on the property (but they appear also to be very small)
Review 87:Soft opening so AC not that cold during the day & no hot shower at first but was IMMEDIATELY fixed when we asked. Lesson is ask when something's wrong, theyre always happy to help fix things :) id stay here again & again, still very satisfied with our stay, not even curious to try other places.
Review 88:Awesome customer service - very helpful & attentive, both in person & via email, complete with towels toiletries etc - the place exceeded expectations, yummy breakfast, perfect location, will definitely stay here again! Boro people are the nicest. Dint know people like that still existed :)
Review 89:Usef was so helpful he organised everything and was very keen to make us feel welcome. Would definitely come back again. Great location for Borobudur.
Review 90:Wifi in rooms isnt a strong signal, but good in the main area.
Review 91:Lovely staff who were very welcoming and more than happy to help. They were happy to arrange free transport into town too. Beds were luxurious and location excellent as right on perimeter of Borobudur temple. Yummy breakfast.
Review 92:good location, clean and lovely room, friendly and helpful staff
Review 93:Location and cleanliness
Review 94:Didn't have time to dislike anything.
Review 95:The location and the ambience of the hotel gardens.
Review 96:Room so small our luggage had to be in the bathroom. Bed was hard.
Review 97:The location, the staff the value for money.
Review 98:mosquito in room...
Review 99:Very close to the Borobudur entrance. Quite place.
Review 100:Water heater did not give us hot water...but it is ok as the weather is super hot there :)

Review 107:* great location * helpful staff Among accommodations walkable to Borobudur at a reasonable price, I think this is the best choice.
