Reviews for Bay Village Resort & Spa Dunsborough

Review 1:Nothing. We loved it!

Review 2:Fantastic central location. Shops and cafes across the road. A stunning beach a short stroll away. Friendly staff and a lovely quiet pub in the complex (we couldn't hear any noise from it at all). Leave the car at home! Modern apartment with everything we needed. .

Review 3:Don't mind paying almost $800 for a night but definitely not for this 4.5 stars villa. The furnitures are quite old. The dining table is wobbly so cant lean on it when eating and the same with the chairs. Please upgrade the TV, no HDMI. We feel like living in the past. It's not expensive to put a scissors in the kitchen. Why there's no scissors? And no laudry powder? First time ever. Even a 3.5 stars supply it. The heated pool is not even heated at 28c. Other families said the same thing. Will not recommended to anyone.

Review 4:Close to the shops and restaurants. The beach and park at short walking distance.

Review 5:The pool and spa area was small, enclosed and always full of kids. We did not go there once which was disappointing at $550 p.n. Implementing a kid free time for the spa/pool would be a good option. There were some shopping trolley's left on the grounds either by staff or guests that were not removed and made the place look untidy.

Review 6:Excellent location. The rooms were well appointed and spacious. We liked the smaller semi-private outdoor areas with gazebo and BBQ which made you feel like you were in a much smaller boutique resort.

Review 7:Great location, great staff, unit was well equipped and comfortable. Only down side was the pool which seemed a best suited for children. However beach was 2 minutes walk

Review 8:We had a basin tap which leaked and was quite noisy, also the sprinklers went on without letting us know the days soaking our washing, also water came in through the back door around the toilet on watering days

Review 9:Great location

Review 10:As per our last stay, cleanliness needs to be addressed. Its not filthy by any means just a lack of attention to detail with dusty skirting and furniture.

Review 11:This is the best location in Dunsborough.

Review 12:Older style, which we expected, just needs some updating to catch up. No soundproofing between the villas so could hear everything from our neighbours - loud music playing until 1am.

Review 13:Location is excellent. Dunsborough is beautiful and just a short walk from the resort to the beach. Clean accommodation.

Review 14:Only let down was the pool area, I didnt find it on par with the rest of the resort.

Review 15:I loved the location and the studio rooms were clean and well designed. Will definately be back

Review 16:Expensive for what you got. Overall it felt a bit like a very expensive caravan park in the layout. the photos made the chalet look private but there is not private outdoor area. the decor is very old and worn, the furniture is chipped. Little things like notices saying 'if you dont clean and put away your dishes you will be charged'.... I find details like that quite unwelcoming. You dont get room/bed changing which for the price you pay I think is unacceptable. You pay $25/pp for extra people up to the 4 people the chalet can accommodate, even though you have already paid more for a larger chalet. Im not sure why you get charged more when they dont change clean beds/linen or provide you breakfast so any additional people cost them absolutely nothing.

Review 17:central location

Review 18:The bed wasn't very comfortable and the pillows were sub standard

Review 19:Proximity to town, beach and wine farms. Neat and well appointed. A wonderful stay

Review 20:Heated pool felt cold. Sauna did not heat up efficiently and felt seating area in sauna was a bit awkward.

Review 21:Location was excellent - close to all the shops, restaurants & geographe bay. Onsite massage and beauty therapy salon. Staff were very friendly and attentitive. Resort was warm and inviting. Loved the spa bath, the cleanliness and the space of our one bedroom apartment with spa bath.

Review 22:Needs a shaving mirror over the bathroom basin! Husband had a bit of trouble with this. Found it a bit pricey but the more people staying the cheaper it is per head.

Review 23:We had a villa and the set up was excellent with a master bedroom downstairs and a 4 bed bedroom upstairs. Great for a group or family. Location in town was excellent.

Review 24:light shined through apartment door and bottom of blinds early morning. bed was only a small double.

Review 25:room was very suitable for what we wanted, spa was a comfortable size. very clean and well decorated, excellent location.

Review 26:Beds were a bit to soft and the pillows to hard. Though the villa balcony's face the ocean the plants blocked any views. Could not secure screen doors to allow air flow.

Review 27:Everything was within walking distance. The villa was clean and tidy on arrival and maintenance request were promptly dealt with.

Review 28:The table was unstable, and unsafe. The shower was small and awkward to use, the bathroom overall was average. The kitchen cupboard was too high, not at all accessible. They didn't provide us with enough supplies such as toilet paper etc... Expensive for such a small, basic unit. We wouldn't stay here again.

Review 29:Good location though.

Review 30:The pool area wasn't very inviting as It feels unsafe getting into the pool area and the water didn't look that clean.

Review 31:The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect, close to shops, restaurants and the beach, all in walking distance. It's great to have a spa onsite as well.

Review 32:The pool area looked a better prospect for kids and families but nothing really to complain about...

Review 33:Located walking distance from great restaurants, the local pub and the beach it's really well situated. Also not far from the best that Eagle Bay, Yallingup, Margaret River and surrounds has to offer.

Review 34:Photos as seen on web page were alot better quality than in real life . thought customer service could have been alot better not friendly at all

Review 35:We liked the location

Review 36:Paper thin walls so very noisy - we could hear our neighbours upstairs, next door and outside - and we were told this was a quiet time - hate to know what its like when the hotel is full!! The room was pretty basic and quite strangely designed with the bath in the room - altogether quite disappointing for the price paid.

Review 37:The location is really good - close to town and the beach so able to walk everywhere.

Review 38:Upgraded from queen spa to one bed apartment with spa as one was available. The room was tiny with the spa in the bedroom?? The TV was tiny and up high so you had to sit on an uncomfortable angle on the tiny lounge to view it. Not good value. The spa didn't work!

Review 39:Fantastic location to beach and town site, shops etc

Review 40:awesome. well appointed apartment for all of us. if there was any small negative, the pub on the street was a little on the noisy side for a Wednesday night, due to function, but we all loved staying here and will return in summer.

Review 41:The bedrooms in the lower level felt a bit small and the lighting could be a bit brighter.

Review 42:Its location in town made it easy to access restaurants and shops without a car. The kids loved that they could swim in the heated indoor-pool in the middle of winter. The day bed in it's own little corner of the the living area is very cosy and the gas heater worked very well. Mid-week service was a lovely surprise. The free wi-fi was a real treat for the whole family!

Review 43:Window had a cut out of the glass that let in cool breeze and hotel neighbours noise through the night, was frustrating and didn't feel private for a young couple having a weekend without the kids. Felt like we couldn't talk or spend quality time together without worrying anyone walking past our room would hear. Wish I had known our room had no balcony also. Lacked natural lighting.

Review 44:Enjoyed the location and spa

Review 45:Great location between the beach and the town for walking around Dunsborough. The town is a good location to tour Margaret River region from whilst being closer to Perth for the trips to and from Perth when travelling with children. Spacious accommodation with 2 extra beds so we had friends come and stay for a night. Good on site pub and great nearby cafés. Then you have all the great beaches and wineries on your doorstep.

Review 46:It was a little noisy due to the flock of white Corellas nesting in the park at night but you've got to love Mother Nature. The refrigeration in the building in front of us turned on and off with a loud clunk throughout the night too but not too bad if you're not a light sleeper.

Review 47:Great location.

Review 48:The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was absolutely amazing. The place just had a nice relaxing feel to it. I left for holidaysstressed and came back refreshed and stress free!

Review 49:The room was very small and for the money I would have expected it to be a little bigger. I think the bathroom should be separate.

Review 50:Spa was nice and free WiFi was handy.

Review 51:Couches in the lounge room were not comfortable so was not nice when watching tv in the evening.

Review 52:3 of us stayed in the loft style chalet. Rooms were nice & facilities were great. Really good location.

Review 53:Wifi would not connect on 1st day and by second day was very temporamental and faze in and out. Unit 6 has a hammer in the pipes when turning on the shower taps

Review 54:Location

Review 55:A bathroom tile was cracked in the room when we entered we stayed in and had to advise the desk about it ... they knew about it and should have told us not to worry - tile glue and pieces of tiles in the bath. Aircon is quite load at night:(

Review 56:Free wifi, Television channels and bed and bath with kitchen facilities are very comfortable The reception staff was particularly helpful

Review 57:Dirty pool, sauna not working, drunk people shouting around the grounds at 2am, dish washer broken, air con not working, I could go on...

Review 58:Good location

Review 59:Only five chairs for six beds, microwave emitting strange noise, linen on beds not clean and oven neede matches to light.

Review 60:Location was fantastic in the heart of the town near shops and eating facilities and just down the road from parks and beach. Indoor pool was lovely.

Review 61:Our apartment was right at the front of the resort facing the very busy street and it was noisy! From very early in the morning to late at night, it was constant traffic noise and at night people in street leaving the bar at the other end of the resort. Smell from restaurant below apartment. Problems with TV & getting DVD player to work. Oven and hot plate didn't always work! Needs sunblock curtains.

Review 62:Location made it easy to walk around town and to the beach. Free wifi - which we didn't use but nice to have in case needed.

Review 63:Loved the location, self contained chalet was fantastic, originally booked 2 bedroom but was changed to a 2 bedroom with loft which was great as we had 5 adults and a toddler. Walking distance to beach, shops, coffee shop and eateries. Definitely recommend and will be back again.

Review 64:Bed wasn't the comfiest but still enjoyed our stay

Review 65:Location is right in the middle of town and close to everything. Clean and tidy well presented room.

Review 66:Not a clean as I would've liked... Some dirt in cupboards, dead flies on window sills, layer of dust on stairs, grubby windows.

Review 67:Very central to Dunsborough, great pub right beside resort! Excellent wifi signal.

Review 68:The villa was poor. Very disappointed.

Review 69:Location are good however no where near a 3.5 star villa!! Very poor accommodation, that hasn't been renovated since the 70's. Bed extremely uncomfortable - I woke up with pains in my back. Kitchen facilities were old, there was green mould around shower head, tapes on-stop dripping, curtains rails were barely hanging onto the wall. Very disappointing.

Review 70:I liked the location just a stroll from beach of which was beautiful . Managers very friendly and helpful, very relaxing resort rooms beautiful Thai restaurant next door very good food. Very enjoyable definitely would stay there again

Review 71:Needed more hanging arrangements in both rooms when long stay trouble putting things out of cases

Review 72:Very comfortable maybe getting bit tired for that money.

Review 73:The washing machine was faulty.need to change towels dayly. Door Matt needs to be none slip, trip hazard

Review 74:Ideal place for families close to all Margaret river and the south west has to offer.

Review 75:Kitchen cupboards set too high; very challenging to reach every day items. My bed was average comfort for price Reception hostile and we seemed to be superfluous!

Review 76:Location; facilities studio offered

Review 77:I knew when I booked that we didn't have housekeeping however for the money you pay I feel like there should have been someone that came in and did a clean up. Then the fridge we had was terrible it didn't keep anything cold nor did the freezer, I had been expressing milk like a cow and stock piling it and it all went to waste as the freezer didn't work. In addition there was no A/C in the rooms and only one ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms that ONLY worked if the light was on so we had a choice of sleeping with the light on so we had some airflow or turning the light off and being hot.

Review 78:The location was great

Review 79:Bed was uncomfortable, husband spent second night on sofa because he couldn't sleep. The spa treatment shop was closed

Review 80:Nice apartment, good movie channels

Review 81:Apartment rooms are tiny with no table to sit at and I had problems with the connection to their free wifi but was that's all!

Review 82:Located right in town close walking distance to cafes and bars and not too far if you want to explore the surrounding areas. Comfortable, clean, well decorated Balinese theme apartment room.

Review 83:Could have been cleaner. Most areas ok but not everywhere.

Review 84:Spacious accommodation with parking for 2 cars. Enjoyed our stay. Great BBQ and plenty of utensils.. Location perfect.

Review 85:The chalet we stayed in was really dirty, there was visible dust, cobwebs, dirty fans, dirty kitchen cupboards and sink there was even chunk of hair in the laundry. Furniture was old, second hand shop level with rusty beds, old mismatched side tables that the laminate is peeling off, beds were uncomfortable especially the single beds upstairs and there was only a double down stairs not a queen. The caretaker did get cleaner back in and was very apologetic and friendly. However the unit was not up to standard of cleanliness we would expect from a "resort" we left a day early. The noise from the pub did not stop till late.

Review 86:The location of these units is great if you want to be central to Dunsborough and the beach. The caretakers were very friendly and helpful. They organised the cleaner to come in and explained the units are privately owned with a contract cleaner, and apologised for the inconvenience.

Review 87:Pillows could be better.

Review 88:Great location to access wineries and the beautiful bays. Loved the Spa Bath in the room. Excellent breakfast in the cafe across the road and nice pub next door.

Review 89:Thought the pool and sauna was very adverage. And we didn't have a t.towel, cutting board, dish sponge nor dish washer tablets. We were towels short had to ask for them, also the outside area could have done with a good sweep up

Review 90:The noise from the tavern next door on the Friday night was terrible plus they empty bottles in the bin all night long an it's very noisey not good when it was waking the little kids

Review 91:Love the location. Very expensive tho

Review 92:Pool was a little cloudy and needed debugging which would have been resolved when the filter was turned on. We couldn't get the spa jets to turn on in the pool spa but we still have fun.

Review 93:Excellent location, staff were polite and friendly, accommodation as stated.

Review 94:Room was poorly designed, cramped and proximity to adjacent rooms causeda noise problem. At aud $ 265/night even in december holiday season, this is more than we paid for a top 4 star water view hotel room incentral montreal during november. We won't be staying at bay villageresort again.

Review 95:Proximity to dunsborough town centre.

Review 96:The individual on the front desk came across as someone who believed their resort was gods gift to resorts! Sadly they seemed rude & rather unhelpful most of the time. While the accommodation was nice it was not worth the money spent! A place just failing to hang onto a luxury title.

Review 97:Good central location. Communal areas are very nice.

Review 98:Bay Village is amazingly close to the brilliant family friendly Dunn Bay beach. It's also incredibly close to the town of Dunsborough. Both the beach and the town are no more than 5 minutes walk away! You can hire cycles, kayaks, catamarans, paddle boards directly at the beach. So much to see and do. Other fabulous beaches like Meelup Beach, Castle Rock, Eagle Bay, Bunker Bay & Yallingup are 20 minutes or less by car, and the bulk of the Margeret River wine region can be accessed within 40 minutes drive. Go to Simmo’s for ice-cream. It’s fantastic! There is nothing I didn't like about Bay Village. It's just simply, superb. There are two great bars, Pour House & Meat People on the grounds, perfect for that after swim sundowner. Try the “Dirty Lemonade” at Meat People! Yum! A Thai restaurant, Bamboo Spice is also on the grounds with BYO. Perfect for enjoying that Margaret River SSB with some great Asian flavours. My apologies if I sound like I’m gushing here, but it really was that great a place to stay. I can't recommend it enough.

Review 99:Spa jets wouldn't work on the 2nd night but really no big deal.

Review 100:Cleanliness- absolutely spotless!! Peaceful Staff very helpful our tv stopped working after 9pm, staff came to have a look that night and by the next morning we had a replacement tv Spa!!

Review 101:Was our one year wedding anniversary and went away for the weekend from perth. Received a bottle of wine complimentary congratulating us! Was amazed and very thoughtful! Room was very clean. Enjoyed the spa. Quiet location even though its very central. Would definitely recommend and stay again. But only downfall would be a little bit expensive

Review 102:Internet was down for 3 of the 4 days we were there because they were carrying out upgrading works. Not their fault, then again, wasn't ours too...

Review 103:The unit was really large for our family of 5. Location right beside a park and the beach about 50 m away. Same for the town centre. Very nice helpful staff; the reception desk lady and the cleaning lady too!

Review 104:Pool isnt heated. Radio/music didn't work. Crackling roof at sunrise from expansion of sheeting. Sounds silly but seriously feels like your sleeping on the roof.

Review 105:Lovely staff, great location and very clean.

Review 106:Units vary in quality and facilities. No bed rails on top bunk beds making them unsuitable for children even though children were booked into this unit. Adults had to sleep in bunk beds, children in double beds.

Review 107:Hired two units, both cost the same. One was excellent, the second was not worth the money paid

Review 108:Toilet separate from shower/spa. And shower totally exposed to bed. Fridge had a smell and ice that was available had dirt in it.

Review 109:Everything was modern.

Review 110:We stayed in 35A, we had very noisy neighbours staying in the room next to us (went on all night!) both nights of our stay...we didn't get much sleep at all which sadly ruined the 'relaxing' getaway experience my husband & I needed. The owners were told on check out, but sadly didn't offer any compensation or discount. Also Take your own pillows as the ones in the room weren't comfortable. Be prepared for the complimentary wi-fi to keep dropping out.

Review 111:Clean, central & modern facilities. Beach down the street. Close to town. The Thai restaurant attached to the resort was awesome! Highly recommend the Thai green vegetable curry.

Review 112:It's a bit pricey but as the bus for the wedding was picking us up from the town centre, it was the most convenient place. We actually booked a year in advance to ensure we had a place to stay, fortunately a week before schoolies!!

Review 113:We've stayed at Bay Village about 3 times now. The thing is they are so conveniently located if you just want the quiet beach, Long walks (or bicycle rides), restaurants, bars and cafes within walking distance, or to use as a base and travel within the area or even on to Margaret River and the surrounds. We came down for a wedding and our older sons accompanied us so we took a three roomed Unit for 2 nights. Oh my, it was big. All rooms had its own bathroom en suite and there was a spare bathroom with shower. Very comfortable, enjoyed our stay.

Review 114:The spa was only separated from the bed by a few meters, and water basically went everywhere & we had to use all our towels to mop it up. Also was a little dear at $250/night. Would still consider staying here next time I'm in Dunsborough however, the experience overall was great

Review 115:Location was perfect, staff were friendly, rooms were clean and not too small

Review 116:Nothing to not like.

Review 117:Location in the center of town is excellent, it's an easy walk to the shops, pub, restaurants and the beach. The rooms are perfect for a relaxing time away and well furnished with all the necessities. Would have stayed longer if time ha allowed.

Review 118:The room was tiny, no natural light and was not given good instruction on our room number. There was no map of the facilities in the room compendium. We could hear people having sex, using the toilet in other rooms and running the spa all night. Not well insulated enough to stop noise. We won't be coming back to this resort.

Review 119:The room was clean and modern.

Review 120:We arrived after hours and were left a map. The map did not show our apartment number & we had to call the caretaker for assistance. The oven didn't work, the couches were uncomfortable and the cushions had lost there softness. We had an extended check out but the staff werent informed & let themselves in. Expected more for the price.

Review 121:The location

Review 122:It could have been cleaned better, previous occupants hairs in the bathroom and dead ants not cleaned up. The mattress on the bed was a bit too soft and you had to keep relogging into the wi-fi which was more frustrating than anything else. I don't think it was worth what we paid, the pictures on the booking were misleading. I've stayed in cheaper which was better. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Review 123:Great location with easy and quick access to beautiful beaches and Margaret River. This is the best feature of the accommodation.

Review 124:The accomodation could do with some updating. The furnishing within the unit we had was quite old, and we were unable to get the TV or stereo to work.

Review 125:The location was amazing. We were right in the town centre and close to places to eat and shop. We were only a short walk to the beach as well.

Review 126:Could not get the wifi anywhere other than in the main reception area. Very annoying when it was advertised "wifi in all areas"

Review 127:The Location Bright and light Plenty of room

Review 128:The 3 piece suite was uncomfortable. The wifi service was non-existent at times. The safe didn't work. Disappointed that one bedroom had only bunks.

Review 129:Facilities in our chalet and on the site were very good. Location close to town centre and beach was excellent.

Review 130:A local event directory or maps in the apartment would have been handy.

Review 131:The apartment was fairly recently refreshed. Paint, fittings, beds, bathroom, kitchen, furnishings all to a high standard. Right in the middle of Dunsborough and the beach, perfect location for touring the area

Review 132:Lack of furnishings such as table & chairs, bench space, the fact that the spa, shower and basin wasn't in a separate room. A bit deceiving when looking at the photos on the website and assuming the room was going to be very different than what it was.

Review 133:Location, modern decor

Review 134:If you stay in a unit close to The Poor House bar don't count on getting any sleep. They had a air condenser that went on and off every two minutes all day and all night which sounded like a sonic boom everytime so it was impossible to get any sleep at all.

Review 135:The hotel was in an excellent location with good eating facilities close by.

Review 136:servos and shops in the area were closed by 9 oclock not bay vallages fault but was pretty inconvenient make sure you do shopping or whatever early

Review 137:the apartments were simple but very nice, we were walking distance from everything very good would recomend

Review 138:The people leaving the local watering hole next door swearing and carrying on like yobbos

Review 139:Good indoor pool for the kids, walk to the beach and location to centre of town.

Review 140:Bit expensive but it was a long weekend and school holidays.

Review 141:The location was excellent, so close to beach, shops and restaurants/cafes. The 3 bed/4bath was really good for the family and the kitchen had everything needed for our 3 night stay(except salt & pepper).
