Reviews for Manohara Resort
Review 1:Maybe a bit of more improvement on the balcony door locks and the air conditioning...we had two rooms and both the balcony door locks were problematic...saw some other room guests also struggling with the same..
Review 2:Best place for visiting Borobudur Temple for those who are really interested in its history and significance...the best part is you can visit the temple anytime and as many times according to your convenience since you are already inside the park complex..not possible if you are staying at other places as you need to buy entrance ticket everytime..plus ever smiling and ever helpful staff...food is very very economically priced and is good...do listen and play the soothing dilarang and gamalan while having dinner...:)..the artists are more than happy to play with you..:)
Review 3:I would give 10 out of 10 if this resort have fitness and sports facilities.
Review 4:Its location next to Borobudur temple makes this resort and ideal place to stay. Also its lush tropical garden and green park are so beautiful.
Review 5:Some facilities in the bathroom are old and not functioning well.
Review 6:1. Perfect location. 2. The "included Borobudur pass". 3. The "included video introduction" allows us to get basic understanding of Borobudur.
Review 7:Everything! From the moment we arrived to the time we left, everything about manohara resort was just amazing. The rooms were clean, of a good size and toiletries were provided. There were little things that were thoughtful - the bowls of flowers found everywhere in the resort grounds and the bowl of shredded screwpine leaves in the toilet for the fragrance. The breakfast spread was just superb! It was unfortunate that we stayed only for one night there. The service staff was excellent too.
Review 8:Rooms, facilities and food options are quite basic. Lots of mosquito.
Review 9:Great location, right inside Borobudor Park, virtually at door step of the temple. Room rates included free entry to the temple plus discount on sunrise/sunset tour tickets. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful grounds with nice statues and interesting plants. Wonderful serenity.
Review 10:Location is perfect! Especially for those whos main purpose of this trip is visiting Borobudur tempel. Stuff is very nice and helpful. Also who works in the garden, they kindly explain you about trees and plants. The garden is very beautyful and the wiew to the temple is just stunning! Rooms and facilities are very clean Breakfast served beautyfully and its delicious We were very happy to stay in " the garden of Borobudur temple"
Review 11:The hotel offers Sunset and Sunrise access to the temple which is quite pricey. It gives you access beyond opening hours which helps you beat the crowds. Unfortunately quite a few of these sunrise and sunset tickets are sold, so you'll still be with a crowd. Especially at sunset: guards let all visitors stay beyond opening hours until the sun has set. Felt like we paid for something we could've seen without paying the surcharge. Nonetheless wonderful to see the sunrise and sunset. Beds were a bit hard.
Review 12:Absolutely great location, on the grounds of the Borobudur Temple!! Best about the hotel is the fact that (regular) entrance to the Borobudur temple is included, which makes this great value for money! You can go back to the temple as often as you like, which makes for a very intense Borobudur experience. Can recommend anyone to actually stay here opposed to just doing a quick visit. Great overall standard, very spacious rooms, well kept grounds, very tranquil typical Indonesian atmosphere. Decent breakfast with many Asian options and some Western options. Cooked to order eggs and omelettes. Good restaurant at the hotel to have dinner at. Friendly staff, always someone to greet you at the door, always someone playing music.
Review 13:The rooms, while comfortable are quite dated, especially the bathrooms.
Review 14:The staff at the Manohara were excellent, very helpful in advising and arranging extra tours we required. The resort itself is relaxed and spacious. The sunrise tour of Borobudor Sunrise tour was amazing!
Review 15:Breakfast is edible but can be improved. Room size is a little small considering that we are not in Japan. It will be cool if there is anyway that we could bypass those guys selling postcards, books etc every time that we went to and back from the temple (suppose to be private entrance).
Review 16:Location to Borobudur is excellent.
Review 17:Nothing at all.
Review 18:The property is beautiful, I had a wonderful dinner of steamed fish, I appreciated that the film about Borobudur was available on-site in many languages so you could watch at your leisure. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Many tour services available from the hotel - I did a sunrise tour of Borobudur and a bike tour of the villages, both of which I would recommend!
Review 19:Leaving :(
Review 20:The location is second to none, also the in-house guests have unlimited access to the temple. We took the sunset package and the Dagi Hill breakfast package and both are awesome and really worth the price. Also, the staffs are friendly and willing to help us.
Review 21:Quality of food average to poor Poor WiFi service No choice of restaurants Reception staff cannot provide guidance or suggestions for nearby places to visit. No much of activity available( Spa etc.)
Review 22:Proximity to the heritage site Quiet and peaceful ambience
Review 23:The receptionist of day shift is not attentive enough. Ask him to arrange pick-up service after check-out but he totally forget.
Review 24:Wonderful location Reasonable price Tidy room
Review 25:I booked a Double Bed and they offered me twin single upon the check-in(they said they are fully booked). The room was simple but confortable and clean. The bathroom sometimes smells bad. The breakfast doesn't have a lot of options and the main restaurant is mainly focused on local food.
Review 26:Undoubtedly the best option for those who want to visit Burubudur. Is a3 minutes walking. Actually the Hotel is located inside the complex.Very well located.
Review 27:Limited breakfast, disinterested and lazy restaurant staff, patchy wifi, Booking (overpriced) taxi to airport through hotel but still having to explain to driver where we wanted to go.
Review 28:Proximity to Borobudur, generally good and reasonably priced lunch and dinner, room and bed comfy. Good choice for a night or two max.
Review 29:the sunrise trip was a disappointment as it was hazy and there wasn't a real sunrise experience. Plus we still had to pay additional although we were staying at the Resort
Review 30:It is part of the Borobudur Temple Park so we could have unlimited access to the temple which was great for us.
Review 31:The table and desk are dusty. Shampoo bottle hasn't been clean. Facilities are old. And the breakfast need to be improved. Beside, the hotel transition(350 rupia) is more expensive than taxi(250 rupia).
Review 32:The location is brilliant. Can have breakfast with looking of Borobudur. The staff are nice.
Review 33:The service in front desk was seriously lacking. There was a terrible sewage smell that comes out from the bathroom.
Review 34:Good location, value of money, overall the rooms and property are ok. Wifi was good.
Review 35:None
Review 36:Perfect location near to Borobudur temple and access illimitly to the temple during the open time. Delicious dinner and free breakfast with a wide range of choice.
Review 37:Guests should not pay extra for the sunrise entrance (4.30), orhave a discount at least.
Review 38:Hotel owns a separate entrance which guests can use freely. Right next to the temple, exceptional location.
Review 39:Large group of excited teenagers staying at hotel and on the sunrise experience.
Review 40:Open access to Borobudur Temple. Beautifully laid out hotel in pretty gardens. Peaceful surroundings. Access to bus station for return to Yogyakarta.
Review 41:Booking a car from the hotel to get back to Yogy was a lot more expensive than getting there. The hotel is a bit of a walk from other restaurants so you don't have much choice.
Review 42:We chose this hotel because of the location, (It is right next to the Borubudur Temple). We also chose it because if you want to do the special sunrise and sunset ticket entries, (At the time of writing), you save 150K Rupiah on each ticket when you stay at Manohara. Which was 600K Rupiah in total for 2 of us. Which more than made up for the more expensive cost of the hotel as compared to other accommodation. Rooms are very nice and comfortable and breakfast is plentiful.
Review 43:You will pay more for the convenience, but its worth it in my opinion for one night and specially if you are in a couple (also you get free entrance to the temples and discount on the sunrise tour... )
Review 44:Location location location. Makes a big difference if visiting Borobudur and don´t have much time.
Review 45:More expensive room rates (than others) as expected due to its location and a bit dark at night
Review 46:Location, Staff, Meals at the Restaurant Closer entrance/exit to Borobudur compared to the normal tourist route. We are not morning persons, but the Sunrise tour we availed was totally worth it. The meals at the restaurant were quite good. Prices of the food at the restaurant and mini bar are reasonable. There was even additional discount for in-house guest which I only noticed upon paying on checkout.
Review 47:It is just wonderful to be so close to Borobodur. You are staying on the actual temple grounds, which in itself is magical. You can walk up to the temple by a small path, in 5 minutes. And you can see Borobodur from the restaurant. We walked up every morning and evening, when it was more pleasant and we had a sunset pass, which enabled us to stay after closing hours. A special big thank you to Sheren for her kindness and help during our stay :-)
Review 48:We stayed here as part of our honeymoon tour of Indonesia and we can not believe this was a 2 star hotel, it should have been a 4 star! The staff were lovely, the place is clean and full of character and the rooms are great. We were even given free honeymoon fruit and a heart shape of flower petals on the bed. We did the sunrise tour of Borobudur which was incredible, I'll never forget that. Thank you for a great stay!
Review 49:Shower facilities are poor, rooms are bit outdated but Generally good.
Review 50:Almost all guests here are attracted by its irreplaceable location, its the only accomondation within Borobudu park, which makes perfect for the sunrise. Apart from the unique location, the hotel itself is well designedand hospitable, the staff are helpful and polite, the garden is sophisticated, rooms are spacious...its good to stay few more nights for relax, especially suits for family. Generally I would recommend it.
Review 51:Equipment in general could do with upgrading, we had to turn the refrigerator off as it was noisy and the air conditioning wasn't so great. Definitely far from the luxury standard you would expect. Also, you would think that sunrise/sunset at Borobudur temple would be included in the price of the room as this is the main reason people choose the hotel - but it's an extra approx. EUR 20 each time. In our view, buying the sunset visit is not worth it if you're doing the sunrise visit, as it is usually cloudy in the afternoon (or at least was during our 2-week stay in July) and so the only advantage is getting to see the temple with fewer visitors there.
Review 52:Beautiful location and gardens, we spent two days there and used the opportunity to rent bikes and visit the surroundings (rice fields, a couple of smaller temples...)
Review 53:Couldnt find fault, well worth the extra money
Review 54:Amazing location - private entrance to the temple Lovely touches such as photo book in room and audio visual presentation about the temple Staff incredibly helpful - one member of staff even rode in our taxi to give directions to an ATM Great value sunrise tickets to borobudur Free tickets to the temple outside of sunrise and sunset hours - enter as many times as you want Excellent Breakfast spread - perfect for after a sunrise tour
Review 55:The fact that we had free entrance to the temple on the two days either side of our one nights stay at Borobudur meant that this hotel is amazing value for money. Additionally the sun rises from behind the mountain opposite at around 6.10 (at least it did when we were there). We waited until the gates opened at 6 to get in and quickly made our way to the top for sunrise. It was beautiful and free with your stay as opposed to the sunrise trips which cost extra. The facilities are great and you can cheaply rent bikes to cycle to the outlying temples.
Review 56:Best location to view the Borobudur Temple, direct access to the temple, professional staff, very clean and spacious room, very good restaurant and breakfast, reasonable rate, beautiful and peaceful landscape.
Review 57:none
Review 58:Location - just beside borobudur template Rooms - not fancy, but included eveyrthing we need. hotel was very clean, peaceful and relaxed. Staff - helpful and speaks good english
Review 59:Super, clean, big territory, a lot of green and flowers, big room, terrace, very polite and friendly staff, 5 min to Borobodur, free entrance there in usual time, discount in time sunrise, they awake us early in the morning, book transfer to Solo, room-service bring food very late, because restaurant was still closed. Recommended!!
Review 60:Breakfast until 10.00 but food disappeared at 9.55.
Review 61:Location, garden, possibility to easily book sunrise tour, entrance ticket to Borobudur already included into room price-valid for 2 persons!
Review 62:Manohara is right on the doorstep of Borobudur - you won't find another hotel or resort that is closer. An extra Rp 230.000 per guest will give you access to the sunrise tour (highly recommended) and the reception desk will also supply torches. The rooms here are extremely comfortable and all have a private terrace. None of us had any trouble getting a good night's sleep.
Review 63:Price was a bit expensive.
Review 64:Beautiful resort, neat and well maintained. Nice room with a lovely veranda/balcony. Located within the Borobudur temple area, perfect place to stay for sunrise tour.
Review 65:The room was run down. We had mold, large gaps at the doors, so bugs too. It just wasn't very appealing from the inside
Review 66:You pay for the location. The property and proximity to Borobudur are both exceptional.
Review 67:Transport to the hotel with a driver cost us 200,000 rupiah from the airport, which was ok, but it is more difficult to get a taxi back to Yogya and will cost more (we paid 250,000). Hotel car costs 350,000 to Yogya.
Review 68:Such a wonderful hotel! It is expensive when comparing it to hotels in Yogya, but when you factor in the unlimited free entry and the discounted sunrise entry, it becomes very economical. It is a very cute place and is in the Borobudur temple compound (you can see it from your room practically)! Breakfast was good, dinner was ok, but the hotel was lovely.
Review 69:Transport between resort and city/airport is pricey (350,000 IDR) for the lone traveller but may be acceptable for family/group. Wi-Fi is weak and unstable in the room I stayed.
Review 70:Service quality and facilities are excellent. Restaurant serves delicious food, and is overlooked by Borobudur. Resort ground is beautifully landscaped. Surrounding is serene, quiet and calming.
Review 71:*I didn't like the ala carte food at the restaurant. The lunch (ala carte) that we ordered was too bland and dry. The free breakfast (with the room rate) was ok though. *The sink in the washroom was easily clogged.
Review 72:The room, the setting, the service.
Review 73:Lunch and dinner menus rather limited. It is actually a Buddhist study centre, however, so it offers more choices for vegetarians.
Review 74:Right next to Borobudur temple so I could stroll in at 6.00 am and beat the crowds. Very quiet and pleasant garden setting. The hotel does not serve wine, but if you like wine with dinner you can dine at the very upmarket Amanjiwa not far away.
Review 75:The evening menu was relatively expensive for the small (but quite tasty) portions and only Bintang for alcohol choice. Breakfast is very local, I'd have loved a pancake option!
Review 76:this place is luxurious without being over the top. The staff surprised us with a fruit basket and petals because we were on honeymoon. The location is just perfect for visiting the monument and is lovely in itself. Highly recommended.
Review 77:Room is dated but clean, towels are not absorbent. Dinner at the restaurant was disappointing.
Review 78:Entrance into Borobudur is valid from the time you check in till check out, so do go early to explore the grounds and catch the sunset. The sunrise tour is awesome! Breakfast at the coffee shop was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 79:non
Review 80:the location and price, and the quiet atmosphere and not so commercial style. A lot of people came here expecting a five star hotel, but please note this hotel is used mostly for pilgrimage and study of borobudur, they only except tourists if there are rooms left, so do not complain if it is not what you expected before the journey, but this place is the best place to stay, do not doubt it.
Review 81:The room and the bathroom were extremely small.
Review 82:The easy access to the Borobudur. The garden, which was beautifully laid out and very well kept. The various terraces.
Review 83:hot food for breakfast is not hot at all, like soto and porridge is very cold. The toaster is broken. Other foods is OK. No spare electrical socket to recharge our handphone..
Review 84:I like the environment, it is good hotel for the guests who like to go to the Borobudur in the morning
Review 85:It was very quiet at hotel, bit scared to walk out town after dark.
Review 86:Location to borobudur, entrance ticket include in hotel price. the hotel setting is very peaceful
Review 87:Breakfast is quite limited. They tried to push the early morning tickets to visit Borobudur, but you don't really need them unless you want very specific photographs of sunrise from the temple precincts.
Review 88:Great to visit Borobudur. You can visit the site as early as 6am, beat the crowds and the heat of the day. Wonderful gardens, so peaceful and well maintained. Great audio-visual about Borobudur itself.
Review 89:Cool and clean room. Grounds and buildings are very well kept. Staff was helpful and professional. Proximity to the temple was marvelous. Food was standard, but nutritious enough:-)
Review 90:My back sliding door that leads to balcony can't be opened. The staff promised to fix it but then did not response. Had to call them twice to get it fixed. Shower water was very-very hot and temperature can't be adjusted.
Review 91:Walking distance to Borobudur which was really served the purpose of staying in this hotel. Suitable for 1 night stay only as there is no other tourist attraction around it except for Borobudur Temple.
Review 92:The room is small and you can hear the water running, snoring in next room.
Review 93:Location you can walk to east enterance in about five minutes. Your treated more like a vip by temple guards and do not have to exist through a mile of shops. Staff is good.
Review 94:it was a little noisy in the night. it would be better that hotel put some ear plugs inside the room.
Review 95:the garden is beautiful and location quite good . only 5 min walk to borobudur. food delicious with fair price.
Review 96:No disadvantages!
Review 97:Big room, comfortable, antimoscito protection, towels, breakfast, gratis Wi-Fi, location, entrance to Borobudur included into room price, sunrise tours from the hotel, etc., etc., etc.!!! Do recommend to stay here!
Review 98:Food quality could be better for the price paid.
Review 99:The grounds of the resort are beautifully kept and serene. You can see Borobodur from your dinning table. Service staff is helpful and polite, efficient in responding to emails, and flawless in pick-up arrangement.
Review 100:The overall environment and the food. You can visit the Buddha temple as much as you can, but suggest you check the weather condition before going there, because if the weather is not good then you actually can't enjoy the advantage for sunrise or sunset tour.
Review 101:Manohara is only let down by the limited and unimaginative food served in the restaurant. The potential here is for fresh, tasty food but unfortunately there is just no imagination.
Review 102:Location absolutely unique, style, ambiance are just lovely and fitting given the temple location.
Review 103:It would have been nice with a pool Not possible to get wine in the restaurant
Review 104:Very nice and helpful staff Very good with the sunrise tour, enable to be at the temple before the official open time
Review 105:* The room is simple and a little small. * WIFI is not very good.
Review 106:* Only about 300m from Borobudur. So you can't find a better place if you just want to spend more time in Borobudur. * Staff is very kind and helpful. * It's really very beautiful, and we don't want to leave.
Review 107:Restaurant lighting is poor.
Review 108:The rooms and grounds are very well maintained. Reception workers are helpful and polite. Location unbelievable brilliant. Additional tourist services fantastic. Breakfast outstanding. Highly recommend staying here.
Review 109:the price of sunrise tour - as a hotel guest we are entitled to free bfast already yet the sunrise tour fee still includes light snacks which is the same food as hotel's breakfast buffet
Review 110:Location of the hotel and surprise welcome gift to me and husband when we arrived.
Review 111:We were not impressed with the restaurant. We ordrered coffee after lunch and were given what looked like lefovers from breakfast, no taste of coffe, just brown water.
Review 112:Location close to the temple couldn't be better. Hotel located on beautiful grounds.Breakfast was adequate.
Review 113:If the guest books the sunrise tour, then they are supposed to get some complimentary snacks. Problem is, the person at the front desk didn't bother to specify from where to collect. He just pointed out the direction to follow for the sunrise tour and I expected someone to be there with the snacks. Whereas he should've mentioned that the snacks is supposed to be collected from the restaurant. Even the guys at the restaurant didn't bother to tell us that we are supposed to collect the snacks from there, even though we passed right through the middle of the restaurant and they even wished good morning.
Review 114:Location of course. The view from the restaurant is stunning. Rooms are small but nice and the whole property has a genuine resort like feeling. The audio visual show to give the guests a 30 min introduction about Borobudur is a nice thought, as not everyone will be familiar with the Jataka stories or events of Buddha's own life, and because of these information in the introductory movie, it makes it easier for one to identify the stories told in the rock carvings. Staffs are nice, especially the driver who dropped me to the airport was very enthusiastic in pointing out various things on the way.
Review 115:Food was relatively unexciting but OK for one night.
Review 116:Rural style and access to site, especially before sunrise.Courteous staff, and good information about Borobudur history.
Review 117:We expected to check in at 2pm but arrived at noon but the staff started to check us in and never mentioned that we couldn't because we were early. After issuing us our card key we went to our room to discover that it was still occupied by the previous guests. When we informed the staff of this they told us rather sternly that check in was at 1pm and never apologised for the mistake and made us feel like it was our fault which started us off with a bad taste of their performance.
Review 118:The hotel is beautiful and the location is right beside Borobudur temple and includes free access so is excellent value when you factor this in. Food was great and staff for the most part were friendly
Review 119:We paid for the package of hotel, breakfast n borobudur pass. But we still need to pay extra separately for sunrise excursion ( stay in guest got discount). So at the end the borobudur pass is not used. Which is such a waste. The hotel should give guests the option of choosing either the package with borobudur pass or with the sunrise excursion. Also Taxi from the hotel back to yogjakarta is expensive.350,000 rp one way.
Review 120:Its close proximity to borobudur and the attentiveness of staffs. The sunrise excursion is a plus point .
Review 121:Service, especialy in the restaurant is quite poor. Dishes were cold and not the best.
Review 122:Nice clean comfortable rooms at great location; so close to Borobudur temple and entrance fee to temple is included in roomprice.
Review 123:Included breakfast was ok, but could have better selections (by Indonesian standards).
Review 124:Location and access to Borobudur including sunrise access. Beautiful grounds. Our room was good. The hotel staff was nice and helpful.
Review 125:The service in the restaurant.
Review 126:The hotel is situated very near - on the grounds of - the Borobodur enabling the guests to enjoy its marvel 24hrs a day. Moreover free entrance to the site.
Review 127:No wifi in the room High transportation rate back to yogya town (but we ended up sharing a cab, then it was ok) 350.000 This while we came there for 100.000
Review 128:Location is super! We are backpackers on a worldtrip and started calculating, if you want to see the borobodur, you have to pay an entrance ticket, if you book this hotel for 1 night the entrance is included for 2 days visit. If you want to do the morning tour (which is the early entrance, a torch and a nice snack + a souvenir, but dont expect a "tour") its cheaper when you stay in, but still little expensive. But if you stay somewhere else its more expensive and thus for us backpackers a better deal. Breakfast is super! Everything you can think of is served in the buffet. Rooms are nice, clean and comfy, dont have wifi though. Also included in your stay is a video about the borobodur, very interesting! Should see it
Review 129:Manohara is the only hotel located inside the Borobudur complex which makes it an excellent starting point for Borobudur sunrise and sunset tours. Entry ticket to Borobudur temple is free of charge for the in-house guest during the normal opening hours. Sunrise and sunset tours are discounted for the in-house guests. Very friendly English speaking staff.
Review 130:There seemed to be a bit of problem with the water supply but fortunately it did not affect us badly. Breakfast could be better. I would prefer the room to be a bit bigger.
Review 131:The location within Borobudur grounds and the price being inclusive of entry to Borobudur. We enjoyed the quiet walk before the crowds arrive and multiple entry into the park. Also the free video viewing on Borobudur - a bit old but still informative Landscape was beautiful and quiet within the hotel area. Room lighting was bright enough for work and reading.
Review 132:Breakfast was really poor. Bad selection and croissants left out so that they were covered in ants.
Review 133:Great location for Borobodur. The only reason we stayed here was to see the sunrise at Borobudor. We arrived late the night before and left after breakfast. Its a basic hotel, clean and comfortable and suits its purpose.
Review 134:There was a little confusion that almost made us pay twice the Sunrise tour but everything went fine at the end.
Review 135:The staff was friendly and the hotel facilities are really nice.
Review 136:This is pretty much the only place around Borobudur to stay if you want to stay with comfort and have access to the site for sunrise/sunset. Stay at this resort will give you automatic access to the Borobudur temple during the opening hours and you do not need to pay entrance fee for it. However accessing the temple during sunrise is subject to an additional fee. Considering that regular visitors won't be allowed to the temple until sun is up, it well worth the money to beat huge crowds.
Review 137:Beer was overpriced! Go outside the grounds and buy a large Bintang from the local shop for 30,000 instead
Review 138:You can walk to do the sunrise tour and they have on site shuttles/taxis to take you to Prambanan, airport etc. Room service food was pretty good as not much nearby to get food from.
