Reviews for Granville Hotel

Review 1:We did not care for the windows (2) in the room. The outer window shutter does not close properly. This meant we had a strong draft coming in (my son got a cold), also it was very noisy at night as our room was at the front of the hotel. My mothers room was right next to ours and she had the same problems with her window.

Review 2:Lovely interior and very friendly desk and bar staff. Breakfast is fab.

Review 3:We had a room to the front of hotel. It was very noisy from early morning and the windows did not have double glazing which would have helped. Quiet room at the back of hotel was requested. Heating up too high. Both of us are asthmatic so this made breathing difficult. We turned the heating off.

Review 4:Well maintained hotel. Food good quality. Staff friendly.

Review 5:Love this hotel.Stayed twice and often pop in for a meal or coffee if shopping in Waterford.Close to the shops and restaurants.Staff are the most polite and helpful. The rooms are lovely too.

Review 6:Excellent time at the Granville. The staff was very helpful, the room was very comfortable and the location was very good. Parking was public, across the street, but easy and accessible. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Review 7:Tricky to get to some rooms with a buggy but then again it is an older building.

Review 8:Staff were very helpful. Behind the desk in reception and the doorman/security "Brian" was a great help too.

Review 9:Me and my partner were staying at this hotel for a wedding. We made our way out to the residents bar and were told we could not enter as well as lot of other residents staying there. It was 2.40am when we got into the residents bar and the bar was closing at 3. We were waiting outside the residents bar at 2 o clock to be refused entry. I thought this was very unprofessional from the staff after we paying money to stay the night and were not aloud into the residents bar at 2. The minute the DJ stopped playing we were told to leave the function room, a lot of people were disappointed in the way we were been rushed to leave.

Review 10:I liked everything about the Granville , Very friendly staff , excellent location , food was great , our room was perfect especially the little extra's were a nice touch .

Review 11:Bedroom a little small but perfectly set out and maintained

Review 12:Best breakfast we have had in any hotel in Ireland. Really worth staying for that alone but the fabulous staff add to that !

Review 13:Very uncomfortable bed and pillows, someone tried to walk into our room on 3 separate occasions (at least one of them was staff).

Review 14:Great location, nice restaurant and bar, nice staff, clean

Review 15:Lovely decor in warm cosy room overlooking river even though we hadn't paid for view. Friendly staff and fantastic breakfast. Hope to stay here again.

Review 16:The weather was poor but can't blame the hotel for that?

Review 17:Clean, different. Best breakfast I've had in a hotel ever. Didn't have dinner in the hotel so can't comment. Friends who came with us enjoyed their stay too

Review 18:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 19:It is a lovely clean hotel. The rooms were very upmarket and comfortable. The decor was excellent. The Staff were very nice and helpful ( especially Richard the Manager ). There was a great buzz and atmosphere.

Review 20:none or broken sleep, because very noisy rain splashes on window ledge outside all night, [room 216.told reception] must be some gutter prob.

Review 21:good breakfast.staff friendly.

Review 22:There isn't much not to like except the price is a little expensive but you pay for what you get.

Review 23:Ideal central location, food is excellent. Staff very friendly felt very welcome.

Review 26:Great location, very friendly staff, great breakfast, fast and free WiFi and you can park just across road for €3! Not our first stay, nor our last one!

Review 27:Central location staff wonderful lovely bedrooms it was my birthday they left a birthday card in room sick a lovely gesture - it's now like a family run hotel with little extras

Review 28:We had a lovely stay and couldn't fault it at all.

Review 29:Everything! In particular the location!! Lovely hotel. Breakfast was gorgeous and hotel was very clean.

Review 30:Everything! Just fabulous! Couldn't be better.... The staff at so kind and helpful and seem to love working there. The food is delicious, high quality & lovely atmosphere all around. The history of the place has been well ordered and interior decorating is very attractive. Rooms are cosy and inviting. Central location - can walk to everything easily.

Review 31:Breakfast was poor ... toast was limp and the scrambled egg was the microwave stuff.. I'm not a snob and have eaten in 5 star hotels as well as butty wagons, but if you say you are 4/5 star hotel then cook like one ..

Review 32:The history of the Hotel and building

Review 33:All the staff we encountered during our stay at the Granville could not have been more friendly or nicer. We felt that we had known these staff members for years, after only 2 days.Receptionists, Bartenders, waitstaff, breakfast servers/management, all excellent. Cant wait for our next visit.

Review 34:The Granville is an elegant hotel with fantastic hospitable staff. The rooms are clean, spacious and well appointed. The dining room invites you in to present you amazing food and wonderful friendly service.

Review 35:Room was a little small....

Review 36:Had snack in Bar which was delicious. Best Brreakfast ever....Great choice, cooked fresh and a friendly and cheerful waiter.

Review 37:We tried to book over the phone twice, and each time we spoke to a woman who had the worst phone manner ever. We saw that they had rooms available on their website but wanted to book over the phone, when we rang she told us they were full and when we said there were rooms available online she told us 'book it on the website then', and proceeded to hang up on us. The second time we rang, she said yes hold on there a second, put us on hold and hung up on us once again after a few seconds.

Review 38:Girl who checked us in was great, held our bags the next day and answered any questions we had. Breakfast was really good

Review 39:Didnt like the noise from the bar loud music and lots of talking outside maybe smoking area. Spoke to reception in morning .girl said sorry , (not enough). Also we always seem to get room to back with terrible view.

Review 40:Nice room

Review 41:We waited 35 minutes for our food to come out ( dinner) I appreciate the fact the bar was busy but when we did eventually, it was not hot, also the bar area was overly warm

Review 42:Huge queen sized bed, the best night sleep in ages, all the staff were excellent, the breakfast was fab

Review 43:Towel quality and size very poor, toiletries very sparse and not to 4 star standard

Review 44:The decor was very good throughout the establishment, restaurant area very light and comfortable

Review 45:Wonderful facility on the waterfront. All rooms are modern and updated. Very friendly & helpful staff, fabulous breakfast, and a great pub on the ground floor. Didn't eat in the restaurant, but should be excellent if similar to the rest of the hotel. Additionally, many other restaurants, shops and historic sights within easy walking distance. Abundant paid parking adjacent to hotel, and the front desk will validate a portion of the overnight cost.

Review 46:Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was charming. The beds were comfortable, linens lovely. We ate dinner in the hotel and were delighted. The bread was delicious.

Review 47:The view across the river. The industrial hoppers etc is not a nice sight. Also the boarded up (juries) building is an eyesore. Otherwise the riverside view from the Quay would be great. Hope to see changes in this department next time we visit

Review 48:Comfort, cleanliness, excellent food and just around the corner from the town centre.

Review 49:Our initial contact with one of the front desk staff was not very warm however others were.

Review 50:Beautiful hotel.Old world style in a modern contemporary way.

Review 51:After travelling for 5 weeks this hotel was pure luxury. Our room was spacious, sheets crisp and towels luxurious. The room was quiet and dark, perfect for a good nights sleep. The breakfast was amazing. Even the porridge was so delicious with a dab of Baileys. Extremely good value compared with similar priced hotels over Southern Ireland.

Review 52:Where our room was located it was very noisy. Lucky we were already up as there was work going on in the room next door which started quite early.

Review 53:The staff were very helpful. The central location of the hotel was good and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 54:Grand hotel in great location- across road from water, near pedestrian walking area of town, centuries-old tower, Waterford crystal factory tour, shops, restaurants, etc. Quiet, large room with both tea and coffee makers. Breakfast (included) was absolutely fantastic! Staff were extra nice.

Review 55:Only thing and it's very minor - the towels were a little hard - could do with a bit of softener - but a very, very minor point

Review 56:Room was very comfortable and the staff were excellent - really could not be more helpful

Review 57:The staff were amazing from the time you checked in you were looked after and the food was gorgeous the hotel was spotless and the hotel is in a great location would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 58:How small the room was, got a non smoking room after requesting a smoking room, it was almost like an old folks home

Review 59:Location, staff, decoration of room

Review 60:big buses out front most of time. parking across the street not next to or connected to hotel.

Review 61:rooms comfortable and roomy, breakfast was included and was very good.

Review 62:We reserved a river front room as an upgrade, and were placed in one with absolutely no view. The only river front room available had twin beds. We moved to it, and enjoyed the view, however there is only one very small window to enjoy it from.

Review 63:Great location. Great bar downstairs with really good traditional Irish music.

Review 64:disturbed by coach visitors very early in the morning.music entertainment in bar each evening was repetitive ,old fashioned ,and disappointing.

Review 65:lovely warm atmosphere, welcoming feel to it .Lovely breakfast and very efficient dining room staff especially the lady in charge. She was very charming .

Review 66:The staff were not friendly or helpful. The rooms are large but outdated. The WiFi signal was very poor. They charge a Euro to access and confirm flight reservations and print your boarding pass. The computer station for use was filthy. Poor attention to detail.

Review 67:Fabulous location! Beautiful Hotel.

Review 68:Bed was not very comfortable. Pillows were flat.

Review 69:Good value for money. Front desk staff and Stephanie in the Bar were excellent. The food was very good in the bar.

Review 70:lots of creaky floorboards from room above, wifi not great, but minor issue really if on hols

Review 71:good location for sightseeing, clean and tidy hotel, great food, older hotel which adds some character.

Review 72:not a fan of the Irish Breakfast as found eggs to runny and sausage not very tasty

Review 73:nice hotel in nice location, within walking distance of bus station, nice hotel bar and restaurant too, really nice staff

Review 74:We didn't like having to move to another hotel after the second night because Granville was fully booked up for the rest of the week. Our fault we didnt book it in time. Will book earlier next year.

Review 75:We loved everything about the Granville. We stayed in the king room 312. Beautiful clean room with a fantastic living room area and a very clean ensuite. Also a massive comfortable king bed. The breakfast was something else. Didn't need to eat until evening after it. Staff were excellent, friendly and very professional. We ate in the bar in the evening and it too was fab . location ideal we were able to walk around the shops every evening and go sight seeing. Car park is just opposite the hotel. We would fully recommend this hotel best we ever stayed in.

Review 76:Having to check out

Review 77:Absolutely great hotel with great staff throughout Have stayed there on numerous occasions and it puts other so called 4 star hotels to shame

Review 78:I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. Better than I could have imagined. Bed was great! Music is great! Don't waste your time on the breakfast buffet--if you do you won't be able to finish the hot cooked to order breakfast they serve!--huge servings.

Review 79:Excellent staff, facilities, food, in fact truly welcoming & wonderful place steeped in history...shall definitely be returning over & over again...4 star +

Review 80:Dirty , smelly , long walk to top floor , breakfast served in unclean bar

Review 81:There is nothing positive I can say about this hotel , simply the worste dirtiest place I've ever stayed

Review 82:The Hotel is old fashioned, the old fashioned shower is over the bath, expected them to be separate, the fan had to be fixed still was unable to keep the mirror in the bathroom clear, the bathroom very small. The room itself small and the timber windows were swollen with rain/heat and unable to close properly. Another guest was given the keys to our room by mistake....fortunately we were in the room at the time. The noise in the room above us, started at 4.30 and I rang reception at 5.45 to ask could they get the noise stopped which it did until 7.30.

Review 83:No air conditioner. Inside needs updating and they had a portable fan in the room for cooling. TV was tiny and in odd location to be seen from bed

Review 84:Location

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Everything we wanted to be included in our break was - good food, music, value. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was lovely - huge bed! The breakfast was lovely and I highly recommend the porridge - take the waitress's advice on this - it was gorgeous!

Review 87:Guest rooms close to maintenance rooms are noisy. Only one elevator and a very busy one. No body lotion in rooms.

Review 88:Excellent location in the middle of town near the river and close to attractions. Nice rooms. Restaurant is nice with fine breakfasts and Dinners.

Review 89:Absolutely no complaints at all !!

Review 90:We only stayed 1 night as we were travelling around East Coast but loved the hotel ESP for its location & service

Review 91:Lovely situation, the staff are fabulous, and the atmosphere of the hotel warm and friendly. Waterford is definitely worth a visit. Visit the medieval history museum, and talk to Peter, the coin man, he is superb.

Review 92:The loudness of the band on a Saturday night. You could hear it on the second floor. However, when I complained to the duty manager he did have them turn it down.

Review 93:The friendliness and attention paid by the staff.

Review 94:The hotel is quite old and in need of an update to the rooms. It was very noisy both in the hall and from outside noise. No elevators, lots of stairs, it was maze like to get to our rooms.

Review 95:Good Location

Review 96:I was quite happy with everything.

Review 97:From our first arrival the Ladies at reception were absolutely lovely and we're very helpful . The housekeeping was very friendly and left our room perfect . The waiting staff were extremely friendly and wefficient weren't long waiting on food or drink . Over all I had a brilliant time at the Granville hotel and will return .

Review 98:Bad location of our room - back alley facing with many air conditioners making noise. This alley also outdoor access for function room so very loud when revellers decided to step out for fresh air. But then our booking was a last minute booking, so it was understandable we didn't get prime room location.

Review 99:Luxurious hotel, lovely rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast!

Review 100:The Breakfasts were excellent! Porridge and Kippers. Wow. We did enjoy all aspects of our stay at the Granville Hotel. And wished we had been able to stay longer.

Review 101:We had dinner in the bar/lounge which was below average for food and service. Food was very bland. However breakfast the next morning was exceptional.

Review 102:Lovely hotel with excellent location.

Review 103:This is an excellent boutique city hotel; the staff are top class, very professional. My parents also stayed in the hotel (they are in their seventies). My mother is a cordon bleu cook - hard to please on the food front, but couldn't find fault....very well done.

Review 104:The car parking was not perfect as it was across the street and was not free as we had been led to believe, although not very expensive

Review 105:IT was as advertised and as we wxpected

Review 106:We stayed in a room at the front of the hotel. The room itself was lovely, but it was very noisey with the traffic.

Review 107:The room was clean, well equipped and of a very good standard. The hotel was in a central location, which is very good for sight seeing.

Review 108:Parking across street in public lot (cost reduced with validated ticket) King sized bed not available

Review 109:Central location, staff helpful, and delicious breakfast

Review 110:There was wedding in the hotel and it was a bit noisy late in the evening as we were trying to sleep. The room our children were in, Room 123, had a window onto a light well which was poor.

Review 111:Good location

Review 112:We had bar meal in the evening and although the atmosphere was great and the staff very helpful, the quality of the food was not very good. Would not eat there again. Also, too many tour groups, overwhelming.

Review 113:Lovely room (we were very lucky, it really was very comfortable), great breakfast, great location.

Review 114:Nothing at all - we will definately return to this hotel in the very near future.

Review 115:Welcomed by a very nice lady, one of the best greetings we've ever received at a hotel. The hotel is beatifully furnished and decoated throughout - it is meticulously clean and a credit to those who look after the rooms. We had a very comfortable night in an perfect room with a lovely view over Waterford. The breakfast was without doubt the best we ever had at a hotel. Absolutely delighted and sorry to leave. Also - the rate was excellent value for money.

Review 116:1- The parking situation is "weird" at best.

Review 117:1- The parking situation is "weird" at best. But the staff being aware of it, went "WAY BEYOND" to compensate for such and make things "good" for the customer. 2- The BEST "Irish breakfast" buffet we experienced in our 12-days. (love the whiskey-offering over the porridge. 3- The staff (in this case the reception-desk) is "aware" of things nad pro-actively made an up-grade to accommodate a "concern"; so much so that he gave us the best room in the hotel. 4- The best night of "evening beverage/entertainment" in our 12-days throughout 8-cities, was that on a Sun-night at the Granville pub.

Review 118:WiFi in room didn't work.

Review 119:Very clean room, comfortable bed, great hot bath, cosy bar on site, restaurant food including breakfast was good and filling. Helpful with car park validation.

Review 120:creaky floor boards, bad picture on tv, room was chilly, key would not open door

Review 121:late check out and free parking up to 12.00pm the following day which allowed us to do a bit of shopping without worrying about car park charges.

Review 122:Rooms were massive with huge, comfortable beds. Every little extra was thought of to make our stay perfect. The staff are well trained and very helpful with lovely personalities. Our dinner was the best that we'd eaten on our 5 day break in Ireland. Thank you Richard and Staff.

Review 123:The hotel needs to decide whether it wants to have entertainment or not. Failing to advertise prominently during the check in and during the day meant we only found out by accident that there was an excellent musician on in the bar.

Review 124:Clean, excellent food, great location, friendly staff.

Review 125:Just returned from a lovely holiday in Eire. The Hotel was great, a lovely atmosphere created by the warm and friendly staff who were very helpful at all times.
