Reviews for Waterford Viking Hotel
Review 1:We wanted to stay just outside city so as not 2 get caught up in morning traffic. Perfectly located on ring road 4 this. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.
Review 2:No channels, room was freezing never warmed up bathroom freezing hardly no towels and could not find my reservation now she said that was down to booking .com good job this hotel was not booked out. wasn't asked what I wanted for breakfast I had to ask girl in the end. we have stayed away a lot if you check records never complained before but I would guess my little girl having to sleep in her dressing gown and socks all night is not good
Review 3:nice bed
Review 4:Receptionist had no manners never said hello or any greeting and ignored us while been on computer.never said where breakfast room was or any thing about hotel One of the rooms had a fine draught in window. Carpet was dirty Double bed had a sag in matters TV outdated.when u change channel sound was mute for a while and poor reception Flask of tea in morning was cold I don't think we be going back
Review 5:I ordered a baby cot on the booking. Despite requesting it several times after arrival & telling reception we would get it ourselves if they told us where to collect it it didn't arrive until 10pm (2 hours after the baby's bedtime). The first cot they sent was rickety & broken & had to be sent back. There was also a bin on fire which we reported to a very bored staff member who did nothing about it.
Review 6:The bed was comfortable & given that the hotel was busy it was quiet
Review 7:The breakfast on first day was not a buffet but has to be ordered.
Review 8:The reception was good with every effort to make every member of the family comfortable.
Review 9:Mattress was poor; thin bedroom walls
Review 10:Staff; Food; Location was good for us as it was off the motorway but it was a good distance from the city if you were looking for access
Review 11:Hotel is a little outside of Waterford. It would be great if breakfast could be served to 12 over the weekend as you like to relax and sleep in when you are away
Review 12:Easy to get parking. Very good hotel rate at this time of year.
Review 13:The room was very basic! A single bed was removed but left loads of room and it just did not feel any bit comfortable. The corridor smelt of smoke which the hotel did not have smoking rooms (it was disgusting) and to top it off there was no hot water when we woke to shower. We told the receptionist on check out and he would get someone to check it out. But we were checking out.
Review 14:Receptionist was very polite upon arrival and was no hassle check in. Free parking on site!
Review 15:The fact that I couldn't get meals brought to my room was a big disappointment. When myself and my partner were there several times this year, we always did this and moreso not everyone travelling on their own wants to eat in the bar. Only 4 stations working on the tv in bedroom.
Review 16:Very pleasant surroundings, good food
Review 17:Lovely friendly staff. We asked to changed our room from one double bed to two single bed's at the desk while checking in and they did so without any hesitation. Definitely a hotel I would stay in again and recommend to family and friends
Review 18:Staff were very nice, had only one problem, the vending machine kept eating our money, went and explained to night porter and night porter brought me to a staff member who kindly refunded and was able to use another machine.
Review 19:No residents bar. Lack of late dining options e.g. snack or swich options after restaurant closes. Vending machines ate my money.
Review 20:Staff were excellent and accomadating. Hotel looked very nice and location is nice and private away from centre but short taxi ride to city.
Review 21:Bit far out of town.... But I thought the bar was the worst I've ever seen.... No character what so ever seats uncomfortable
Review 22:Room lovely clean and good size... Breakfast good
Review 23:Only little complaint is that the red wine served in the bar was in little bottles which weren't very nice and the white wine was served from large bottles which I prefer!
Review 24:I stayed there for on a bank holiday Saturday night and also are in the bar! The food was wonderful and I couldn't believe how efficient they were given how busy it was.
Review 25:There was no restaurant in the Hotel, carvery only until 15:00 and bar food after that. No leisure facilities on site.
Review 26:Staff were friendly and helpful Room was claen.
Review 27:A bite over priced, but nutting to breack sweet over. A few more hangers would be good, as i ride a motorbike, be cos had few extra bite to hang up.
Review 28:Tipcal airport type hotel. Good clean hotel, the staff where friendly and arser any question best that could Breakfast was exultant for self service, as muck as you liked. Would be back
Review 29:Not a Single Thing
Review 30:Every thing rooms were unreal so clean and comfortable room service was lovely And staff are so so friendly we defo recomend to any one and to freinds food is Lovely too ...
Review 31:The garage next door had an extremely loud announcer and could be heard early in the morning from the room.
Review 32:Comfortable,friendly staff,excellent atmostphere
Review 33:I was give a price of €180 for two night with €60 extra for breakfast, I was charged €280. I asked about gluten free food for a 10 year old and was told you had. Box of stale corn flakes and toast wasn't great value of €10.
Review 34:It's was clean, had a really good shower, easy to find outside town and very comfortable beds.
Review 35:Arrived at 10pm and went straight to bed; left at 6am the next morning, so didn't get to use the dining room or bar. The place was clean, efficient and everything worked - no complaints at all.
Review 36:the reception staff were unpleasant breakfast staff were lovely the evening food was horrible and when we arrived we felt unwelcome
Review 37:the only nice thing aboit thos was the room
Review 38:No bad experiences but just some suggestions. Some new towels are needed, ours were kinda grey and rough. Also,we were given a disabled shower and the screen was broken. Nothing major just a few tweeks needed. Overall a lovely bargin hotel.
Review 39:Very clean hotel in a fab location. Staff were absolutely lovely and well mannered. Breakfast and bar food was lovely. Singer on the Sat night in the bar was fantastic.
Review 40:I didnt like that the double bed was two single beds pushed together, also when the man was singing the two young bar staff started sweeping around everyone and cleaning the tables and also banging things and the singer asked could they turn off the tele as it was distracting him (why did they even need the teles on when someone was singing anyway) they just turned them down and you could still hear them.
Review 41:The nice spacious rooms, and also the night we stayed there was a man singing in the bar and he was brilliant.Check in & out was very quick and easy. The receptionist was very nice and friendly. The first hotel i was in that the walls werent paper thin. A beautiful hotel and ill definitely be back :)
Review 42:For a tourist it was too far from the historical precincts of th city. Situated in commercial fringe.
Review 43:Friendly staff. Popular eating place for local business men.
Review 44:A double bed for me is not two twins stuck together. Plenty of space but one bed higher than the other!
Review 45:It was peaceful but almost too peaceful as no real atmosphere.
Review 46:Room was not to the usual standard of other rooms in the hotel. Looked a bit in need of redecorating . Bed was not comfortable.
Review 47:Like the hotel and the bar. Food in the bar was well presented, good quality and plenty of it.
Review 48:Service in the bar extremely poor, staff in bar unable to take a 5 drink order, after telling girl first two drinks she stopped me as I was about to complete order and she said anymore than two drinks and I get confused.
Review 49:Disastrous shortage of staff on Friday 28th August. Two staff apparently attempting to cope with 80 coach party guests plus a busy bar/restaurant. After well over an hours wait for desert gave up !
Review 50:All staff could not be more helpful and friendly.
Review 51:A little surprised that the location was between car sales forecourts but that didn't cause a problem. The TV in the room was rubbish and not up to contemporary hotel standards. Wife didn't find the hairdryer until we were leaving. Need to label the the drawer it was in.
Review 52:Nice room - good bath facility - bed comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with good choice. Just a nice hotel that did it's job as a place to stay for a family touring Ireland, though it clearly was more inclined to cater for the business market.
Review 53:i didnt like the set up of the bar and very slow service not bar staffs fault only one serving the night i stayed
Review 54:the room was very spacious, bed comfortable, room spotless, staff very friendly. breakfast was a full buffet and was very nice.
Review 55:Location suited me, but not the best if you intend going into the city.
Review 56:Very impressed with this hotel. Comfortable bed, good shower, extensive array of good quality toiletries, bathrobe and slippers, decent loo roll.
Review 57:There wasn't anything we didn't like we'd book this hotel again in a heartbeat.
Review 58:We had a lovely relaxing stay great breakfast Ben our 3 year old loved it. Every clean and the staff were very plesent.
Review 59:Had bad experience on one night due to smokers sitting outside/below our bedroom window keeping us awake until the early hours. Hotel switched us to a different room for second nights stay
Review 60:Good location - easy parking - pleasant staff - nice comfortable room - good breakfast
Review 61:Parking - the car park although large, needs to be policed to ensure persons park in the allocated spaces. Many cars on the Monday night were parked at an angle over four spaces, therefore myself & other residents had to park offsite or in disabled spaces. I later found out that many were non-residents attending a regular Monday night function.
Review 62:Size of room & breakfast choice.
Review 63:Very noisy around the corridors. Room was fairly basic. Prices have increased since I stayed there before.
Review 64:Friendly staff, nice hotel, loads of parking.
Review 65:The staff were very friendly and the bar food was quick in service and delicious. Close to Tramore Beach Via the car and close to shops and restaurants. 3 Separate beds for our comfort.
Review 66:ten out of ten for the lady working in the restaurant and keeping all balls in the air despite two other staff not turning up for duty.
Review 67:Good location for Waterford. Excellent breakfast. Good attentive staff.
Review 68:Breakfast had very limited selection and hot food was smothered in grease. The car sales next to the hotel use very loud speakers for announcements before 9am which could be heard throughout my room.
Review 69:Wifi connectivity is very strong.
Review 70:Not enough staff in bar, staff at breakfast not at all welcoming. We were asked to wait several minutes before we were attended to.
Review 71:Nice room, free wifi.
Review 72:The room could have done with a safe and a fridge as well as a spare blanket.
Review 73:The staff were very friendly, kind and conscientious. They were also extremely helpful.
Review 74:I would stay again for sure.
Review 75:Lovely place to stay. Staff are very nice. Food was fab and big portions as well. Location is great. Your 20/30 minutes away from tramore, shopping centres.
Review 76:The room was too warm.
Review 77:The bed was very comfortable. The staff were ver friendly the receptionist rememberer my name. It is the little things like that make you feel welcome.
Review 78:Wifi was poor in the bedroom but it was perfect in the lobby. The leisure centre belonging to the sister hotel was a bit far away.
Review 79:the staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby was very spacious and couches were very comfortable.
Review 80:Staff weren't the friendliest, although I appreciate that there was a wedding at my time of check in. Additionally upon checkout I was asked to pay a second time for the room... The lady I had checked in with hadn't bothered to mark my guest status as paid in full. I also wasn't given a receipt for payment following check in
Review 81:Room was immaculately clean as was the hotel and hotel facilities in general
Review 82:Aroma of cooking fat as you walk into the hotel , more extraction fans in the kitchen could be the answer.
Review 83:Easy to get into the city. Free and easy parking at the hotel Friendly staff
Review 84:Nothing really.
Review 85:A VALUE FOR MONEY OPTION, BUT A LONG WAY OUT OF TOWN. THE UPSIDE IS THAT YOU ARE MINUTES AWAY FROM THE BYPASS, IDEAL FOR THE FOLLWOING MORNING
Review 86:We could hear the television blasting away from neighbour till late at night. The single beds had no support and had bad backs in the morning!! Wifi kept on dropping off - although 3 bars signal appeared to be very weak.
Review 87:Complimentary use of the spa centre at the sister resort - might stay there next time!
Review 88:Breakfast not included so paid €20 for both of us & barely ate any it was not good at all, would have preferred to stop at a shop for half the price
Review 89:Reception staff nice, room was grand & ok value
Review 90:3rd time staying here and defo my last, u cudnt get a bit of sleep at this hotel, every time I've stayed here I have been kept awake or woken from my sleep by noise of other guests. The owners of this hotel really need to check on there sound proofing cos it's just crazy. I'm not one to complain and have never given a bad review on anywhere I've stayed but was so tormented by lack of sleep again I just can't let it go this time. I have a 10 week old baby and was sent away for a night to catch up on some sleep...no chance at this hotel, I get more sleep at home with a small baby.also when we dialled "0" from our room to contact reception we had many failed attempts to reach the nite porter, finally my husband dialled the hotels phone number and when it was answered was told that the porter had the hotels phone diverted to his mobile, sounds to me like he was in bed well I hope he had a better sleep than we did!!!!!
Review 91:I can't fault this hotel on comfort, staff, cleanliness etc
Review 92:The only thing we didnt like was the heat in the bedroom . It was very hot .
Review 93:Wonderfull helpfull staff . Fab breakfast one of the best we had in a long time . Super clean hotel and very comfy bed. All in all a wonderfull stay xxx :)
Review 94:The room window did not open wide enough for air. The food was not that great. We were told hotel was close to town which u could understand as walking distance but it was not it was out by all the car dealers tooo far from town in a taxi ur spending adverage of 14 euro. In the morning the car dealers have an intercom and you can hear everything like ur at the airport and they are calling out next flight details.
Review 95:The bathroom was beautifull and clean. The bed was cumfy i could only presume many ppl have stayed in it. The room was big enough to move around staff were friendly. They were nice enough to let us check out a lil later than usual time.
Review 96:overall service was fabulous from the moment we arrived to when we left , rooms clean and comfortable , great selection on resturant menu and breakfast .
Review 97:no view or aspect - stay was functional. Good for overnight but not for leisure
Review 98:room was nice and very comfortable. Very quiet during the night. Meal in bar was nice and reasonable. Breakfast was good and overall price for stay reasonable
Review 99:paid for breakfast but did not have it in the end, there wasn't much left when we got down and was very sloppy looking and was a real turn off
Review 100:The bed was comfortable and hotel was very clean
Review 101:One staff member at breakfast was rude to most people queueing for breakfast tables that were not set. She was clearly under pressure but made everyone feel it was there fault for arriving at the pressure time. We left without having breakfast.
Review 102:Room was nice, Bar & dining staff were very nice & helpful on our evening stay & dinner.
Review 103:No security on the wifi was a concern
Review 104:Was right beside the whitfield clinic where I had a procedure the next day. Didn't know what to expect given the low price but was very happy with the standard of the place. Ended up needing to stay a second night in Waterford and checked back in again.
Review 105:No net curtains on the bedroom windows, which on lower floors are quite exposed to view from the busy car park. Window construction does not allow a section of the window to be opened-therefore room very stuffy.
Review 106:friendly, efficient staff.
Review 107:Had to phone home (UK). Assumed using the landlines would be cheaper, used the room phone accepting there would be a slight premium. I used it 3 times with 1.30 hrs total time = 140 euros. No info in room advising cost. Receptionist also didn't advise when authorising the phone for use. Very poor
Review 108:Upgraded to executive room. Bed uncomfortable, saggy mattress. Room service not available on a Friday night, told only two staff on. Room - cleaned but rubbish bin not empited, used glasses left. Breakfast very mediocre, fruit salad empited, whethered ham. No bread left, not much cholice for 9.95 per person. Dine elsewhere!!!
Review 109:Location, ease of car parking
Review 110:From we walked trough the doors at reception. Sarah the receptionist was lovely. Could not be of more help. Thank you Sarah. All other staff friendly as well. The seem.to.work quite long hours. Thanks to all who looked after us
Review 111:The room could become very stuffy even with the vent open.
Review 112:The staff in this hotel as so friendly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic with a wide range on offer.
Review 113:There was a hen party on the same floor as us on the Sat night and they were shouting in the corridors from 6pm until they went out at 11pm. They continued at intervals throughout the night and in the morning, banging at our door at 9am, not a pleasant experience, staff seemed to be oblivious.
Review 114:Location was good, five min drive out straight road to the centre.
Review 115:Stuffy stale food smell in stairwell, lift shaft and foyer. Maybe design was too open plan. Please open doors, windows and let the fresh air in.
Review 116:Free parking and free wifi
Review 117:Contractor for mains unit very noisy when key card inserted Noisy ventilation system in corridor
Review 118:Food always very good as normal and staff polite and friendly
Review 119:Old , very basic TV Pipped music in restaurant very loud and non compatible with the average client.. Hip-hop music, when the average age was 50 years old. Had to eat and leave in a hurry...
Review 120:Location, bed, WC
Review 121:The breakfast was no up to standard. the yogurt was warn, the cold meats dried out, the cheese dried up, the cut fruit seemed very old dried up.
Review 122:The Bar staff
Review 123:We needed to be near the Whitfield clinic so it was an ideal location for us. Room rate was reaonable, staff were very friendly and the food was good too! Room was lovely.
Review 124:Having spent many years as a customer service manager, young lady who served me in the lounge had an excellant attitude. I was very impressed. Did mention this on my checking out
Review 125:Breakfast was almost cold. Tea and coffee tasteless. No fruit bowl; just a piece of apple water melon and strawberry . ........Service in bar/restaurant was very slow. Bar should be separate from restaurant.
Review 126:Staff were friendly. Room was lovely.
Review 127:The bed we stayed on was a king size but with 2 completely different mattress, one being higher up then the other!! Plus the inability to fill a expensive glass of coke to a decent level.
Review 128:Very nice looking hotel, very spacious rooms and good quality bar food, even if it cost €2.60 for a glass of coke that was half full
Review 129:I know it was a weekend and it is always busy at this time but breakfast time was a bit unorganised some members of staff were not paying attention to important things like clearing of tables I had to ask for cutlery and milk for my table there were no large plates at the buffet counter I think staff should have kept a closer look at this area as it got very messy ie. spilling of food etc., when I was checking out the girl on reception told me she had rolled out of bed and had not had her cup of coffee (a tad unprofessional) having said all of this the staff were very pleasant and I do feel they tried their best.
Review 130:small small gripe!! would like modern flat screen tv in bedroom - time for all hotels to get rid of old last century tv,s and provide now standard 32" flatscreens!
Review 131:Good location, free safe parking, super clean modern comfortble bedroom, good no nonsense business class hotel, all facilities inc bar, wifi, internet stations, big lounge and friendly helpfull staff - 5 star breakfast!
Review 132:I loved how the staff were on hand to make everything so easy for me, including arranging taxi on numerous occasions, even early mornings, Thanks all.
Review 133:I think it was quite noisy, didn't get much sleep, could hear somebody snoring in the other room and the hallway is really busy and noisy in the morning
Review 134:Location, Parking, wifi was good
Review 135:We didn't like the whole bar area. It was cold & draughty. The furniture lacked comfort to relax with a bottle of wine after a meal. It needs to be revamped
Review 136:location on the roundabout. Cleanliness Value for money
The Fine Print
