Reviews for Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club

Review 1:Rooms were a little dated in serious need of refurbishment if you are going to market hotel as a four star breakfast was very average

Review 2:Standard of service was very good food was good quality well presented

Review 3:I had never been to Faithlegg before but will be definitely going back. Loved it all. Will go next time in spring or summer and will bring our two little girls too.

Review 4:my sister an i were looking forward to a little rest and relaxing for two days --i had booked this a good few weeks ago---and so looking forward to stay----i'm a afraid we were awoken my couple around midnight, loud music ,shouting etc--we did complaine and reception did come up --we then had to listen to next phase ,ill leave this to you imagination---needless to say we were awake all night- we checked out that morning ,staff were very pleasant and tried to get us to stay and offered us an other room----their walls must be make of plywood not suitable for hotel of supposed standstard---very disappointing stay

Review 5:staff very welcoming ,had food in the bar on arrival which was very nice, then had a relaxing drink in lounge---all changed after that

Review 6:For such a fine establishment having wedding party 'chav' children parading around in their pyjamas during breakfast time the following morning was unsightly.

Review 7:Good quality food, nice walk in the locality.

Review 8:Had a wonderful midweek break and totally switched off from the world . The jacuzzi , sauna and pool were fab. The food was fantastic and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly . Lovely atmosphere too. Will Deffinately be back ??

Review 9:Had dinner in the main dining room,€145 for 3 course meal for 2 without the wine, wine €27.50 extra.. the meal was very enjoyable but not value for money, think I'll stick to the bar food menu on my next visit

Review 10:love the place have been going there since 2008.

Review 11:The bar was a little small and the lounge did not really have enough chairs for all the wedding guests.

Review 12:Very spacious and comfortable bedroom Very good facilities and excellent food.

Review 13:I booked a room for my granddaughters wedding on 31/10/2015. at a cost of £96 pounds sterling with a visa debit card. this was for my son who was driving the car. On leaving the hotel my son was told to pay £96 for room 103 which he had stayed in which he done. on returning to Scotland I find that my visa card has been charged £114.40 for the same room. this is £18.40 more than what I was told and agreed. I would like to be reimbursed £114.40 and be told why the difference. I find it hard to believe that such a vast hotel complex which was run like clock work should charge a guest. two different prices for the same room. Mr F.W. Grundie. guest

Review 14:Noise level from guests next door to our room was loud and television volume was excessive. I didn't complain because I didn't want to cause a fuss. Perhaps a standard notice could be erected in bedrooms to just be considerate to others.

Review 15:Location. Building very impressive. Grounds well maintained. Décor very impressive. Breakfast excellent. Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 16:Only grumble would be cost and quality of dessert, thought it pretty ordinary for the price

Review 17:Staff friendly from entry to exit, nice little touches in rooms, easygoing atmosphere

Review 18:Room felt a bit dated, not like online pictures at all. Particularly the bathroom.

Review 19:the building was gorgeous and the grounds. The breakfast was lovely and in a nice room.

Review 20:Bar food service could have been better. I ordered food and it was delayed, prompting me to follow up with 2 different members of staff. When it did come it was good, but ended up being charged to someone else's room. I was able to resolve this when settling the bill the following day.

Review 21:The hotel provided a very good first impression. Clean, well-groomed and well-trained staff.

Review 22:The modern extension didn't look very inviting couldn't tell what the rooms were like but was glad we were staying in the older part of the house more inviting

Review 23:grounds were lovely. We were upgraded our room was lovely overlooking entrance and golf course.food excelent

Review 24:The location and the settings of this hotel is lovely. You are overlooking the golf course and it has a very relaxing feeling. The food in the bar and the restaurant was delicious.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Love this place. On my holiday i came back twice to this lovely area. Wonderful golf and if you have the time do the falconry, if you don't have the time make it.

Review 27:The room was upgraded & was stunning! every thing needed was there. The bed was superb . The meals were excellent & I would recommend this place to anyone.

Review 28:In the bedroom we could hear a lot of noise from the hallway. We could also hear every step taken in the root upstairs. Ear plugs are provided but I wouldn't wear them with a child with me.

Review 29:Staff were wonderful and extremely helpful.

Review 30:Made advanced reservations - put in wrong rooms -friends were moved to smaller room after going to their room -was told I was in wrong room but could stay but friends and I were charged extra !!!! Golf course over charged for early golf !!!

Review 31:Beauty of surroundings -

Review 32:Restaurant overrated. Dined in bar most if time. Excellent food in bar. Swimming pool and jacuzzi a bit outdated. Proseco requested for room for celebration. Supplied at room temp and required opener which was not supplied.

Review 33:Lovely parkland golf course. Very friendly staff. Hotel should be proud. Spa treatments good.

Review 34:Our room was awful. Dark and dingy with a tiny bed. Be careful which room you book if you are staying.

Review 35:A beautiful property, very imposing with fantastic grounds and facilities.

Review 36:We could hear ever single conversation that took place out front of our second story room! I felt like every wedding guest and every golfer was sitting at the end of my bed talking! Need new windows!

Review 37:The restaurant staff and food was not up to standard. The menu did not adequately describe what was served. Ravioli was actually a deconstructed ravioli with no sauce. The salad was not well dressed and was not edible. The staff told our table we could have any flavor of ice cream then could not name the flavors available. The waiter serve the wrong menu selection and one came after the course was served.

Review 38:The property is beautiful. Absolutely a treat!!!

Review 39:The meals in the dining room for dinner was superb. It was our anniversary and they made us feel very welcome and special..thank you to all for a wonderful stay.

Review 40:We bought a bottle of white wine for 57 euros to sit by the window and were given a hot bottle that was given to us in a wine cooler that was filthy with food bits still on the side of the container with a tiny bit of ice. So I asked if they could fill the cooler up with ice around the bottle and clean the container. I got a clump of ice with the bottle sticking out of the still dirty cooler and had to wait near an hour to drink it which spoilt the whole ambience of the time there.

Review 41:Great rooms and bed was deliciously soft and comfortable. Free bottle of water and was just wonderful bedroom over looking the golf course.

Review 42:Found the walls between the bedrooms very very thin and we were kept awak most of the night by our neighbour in Room 31 (we were in 30) snoring so loudly it was like a freight train coming through the walls.

Review 43:Had a nice meal in the Bar as we didn't want a large meal in the restaurant, very nice surroundings

Review 44:I went to the swimming facilities while my partner took our baby for a walk aroun the grounds. I didnt take cash with me and was taken by surprize i needed cash for Locker and swim cap. I couldnt go to pool then and the chef kindly gave me a euro coin. Very annoying when im here to try and relax as with the Brehon Hotel in killarney there is none of this! Dressing rooms way too small and very wet and uncomfortable, Showers small and sharing shower curtains too intomate! No shower gel in containers in showers! Way too much clorine i was blinded along with another woman beside me. Wouldnt rate the spa area and the spa sign as you enter is cut and finished badly. Its all the small things that make a hotel that extra star!

Review 45:The grounds of the hotel and the peace. The dining room decore was fab. Cookies in the room a nice touch.

Review 46:The bed was a little uncomfortable, I am 7 months pregnant also so the bed was a big thing for me. The breakfast was ok...it was a little hit and miss but it didn't affect our stay too much.

Review 47:The hotel was lovely, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were always greeted with a smile. Very peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Review 48:Lounge is small and not a great atmosphere so we just got room service instead after dinner. Restaurant is beautiful but pricey so if you want to save there is a little pub down the road

Review 49:Quiet area away from city perfect for relaxing. Beautiful food and breakfast. Room service is good. Leisure centre and pool are lovely definitely worth availing of.

Review 50:The Guest Relations Lady Julia was just amazing!! An outgoing well spoken and knowledgeable professional. The front desk and bar staff were just great as well!!!

Review 51:Food served in the bar area poor quality, bedrooms small and dark, From reception we took the lift down to the lower level it would appear that hotel guests are parked downstairs as these are away from the wedding area. Hotel had a wedding on at the time it seemed unable to cope with wedding and hotel guests at same time. Is this a wedding venue or a Hotel ?

Review 52:Lovely Grounds with own Golf Course

Review 53:Didnt have a bad experience ,only thing I would say was service a bit slow at dinnertime.

Review 54:The staff were very friendly ,The room very clean and comfortable.

Review 55:Loved it all. For the wexford strawberries tasting plate for desert my only criticism would be that it was a tiny bit of a let down after what was an amazing first two courses and it wasn't worth the supplement but I can't fault anything else.

Review 56:Super stay at Faithlegg. Very pleasant staff, got upgraded which we fantastic. Felt more like a five star hotel!better service and hotel qualitt than other five stars we have stayed in. Dinner was amazing , room views amazing and superb location. We loved it.

Review 57:Breakfast was unorganised, I work in a 4 star hotel in the west and nobody was assigned stations, staff very confused! No bowls or plates were cleared

Review 58:Dinner was delicious, great selection of food, music after in the bar, very enjoyable, bar staff very friendly.

Review 59:The food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was lovely. The staff in reception were very friendly and welcoming and our waitress Lenka who served us our dinner and helped us at breakfast was brilliant she deserves a special mention she was lovely. I will be sure to recommend this hotel to all my friends and family . Loved the leisure centre too .

Review 60:The leisure suite could have been cleaner. The breakfast was great but lacked imagination.

Review 61:The room was fantastic with wonderful view. The lift opened beside our room and went directly to the spa. The grounds and location are amazing.

Review 62:room 100 is right beside a service entrance and on Monday morning we were woken at 6.50am by a delievery person. the other mornings were fine.

Review 63:loved the original old house, beautifully kept. grounds lovely, peaceful and ideal for walking. Dee in spa excellent.

Review 64:the breakfast was not overwhelming regarding the selection and was built up in a space too narrow for the large number of guests. no service is offered around the golfing. as a guest, you must take your bag and clubs into the room, there is no caddie master.

Review 65:fantastic golf course in the park around the hotel. the greenfee is affordable, and the starting times were arranged in a relatively realxed way. the staff at the clubhouse, the hotel reception and especially in the restaurant/bar areas were very friendly and helpful. the quality of food was excellent and super delicious. lunch could be eaten in the clubhouse or in the beautiful bar of the hotell. dinner is served in the castle like halls. the rooms were very comfortable, good beds, the environment is absolutely quiet, one is in for a good rest.

Review 66:The banal lift music in the restaurant and the very grubby menus were a distraction from the high quality food served. The room was very average & gave the impression of an old aunt's spare room. It was also extremely cold & heating was turned off. A small electric heater was provided on request. Does the hotel reserve poorer rooms for bookings made online?

Review 67:The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. However, the view on the wedding in the room next door and the concrete side wall less so. Also enjoyed seeing the chef sprint from the kitchen to gather herbs.

Review 68:we were in our honeymoon and we booked a double room..it was two beds put together and my husbands bed was v uncomfortable...hense he got no sleep..

Review 69:breakfast and restaurant food was lovely.

Review 70:The bar staff ignored us when we went to have a drink after dinner. Three staff member continued to talk among themselves and did not serve us.

Review 71:The hotel is set in lovely gardens overlooking the golf course. The rooms are well appointed and quite a good size.

Review 72:No hot water for shower in the morning. Told receptionist about this when checking out, she found it amusing but said she would let maintenance know. I expected that our room service charge of €10 would at least be waived but unfortunately that was not offered! Very poor customer service.

Review 73:Nice location, comfortable bed and room, lovely breakfast. Can't comment on restaurant or bar food as we ate elsewhere.

Review 74:Staff could have been friendlier and wi-if extended from public spaces to the rooms. Food quality was inconsistent.

Review 75:Loved the golf course and the style of the hotel

Review 76:Everything about the hotel, service and friendliness of staff. We had a fabulous time as we always had at Faithlegg. Thank you all. These compliments also includes the golf staff.

Review 77:Didn't like maître d in dining room. He was a foreign guy & he was surly.

Review 78:Everything was very good. House & grounds were beautiful. Couldn't fault it!

Review 79:We attended a wedding at Faithlegg. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and professional. The price for two nights was inclusive breakfasts and a dinner and was really good value (food was amazing). The grounds are beautiful too.

Review 80:The main courses of our dinner were disappointing. The baked breast of chicken dish was over-cooked, dry. The pork and apricot sausage roll in the assiette of pork dish was slightly burnt on the outside. Also, the pork was dry, over-cooked. Also, some warm dishes ordered from the kitchen on the breakfast menu had an extra supplement applied. I feel that you pay enough for 'bed and breakfast' and and shouldn't have to pay extra for some breakfast dishes.

Review 81:The hotel is beautiful, very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious, plenty to choose from.

Review 82:We were given a family style room with three beds and a very cramped old shower, there was stains on the quilt covers of the main bed, after complaining we were given a new room

Review 83:The staff in particular a young manager was very helpful,

Review 84:No induction at check in, e.g. we didn't know that we had to book dinner and had to take the last available time. Spa opening hours were not mentioned in the booklet. Staff in the restaurant was very slow, very limited vegetarian options. Wifi didn't work.

Review 85:Excellent spa area! Quiet although wedding took place. Nice life music.

Review 86:Dirty toilets on arrival in main house burnt porridge at breakfast coffee pot not cleaned out and coffee coloured water served for tea Jacuzzi broken Sauna not hot No bags for wet togs in changing rooms Shower broken in swim changing rooms

Review 87:good room lovely dinner

Review 88:There was a wedding going on right below us. It was quite loud. The front desk was giving away earplugs, but that didn't help much because we had the window open. That was because there was no air conditioning and it got warm in the room. It seems like they are a popular wedding venue so ask if they are having one the night of your stay and either change your date or ask to be put in the back for the quietest room.

Review 89:We stayed in tge Margaret Power Suite and it was absolutely beautiful and very clean. I love walking into my hotel room and having the "wow" reaction. Every staff member we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating. Fantastic place to stay.

Review 90:It was a real chill out and relaxing weekend for me and my husband. The ambience was really lovely, and i would recommend it to everybody. Thank you for making our stay wonderful.

Review 91:Breakfast was a bit disappointing and poorly laid out. Had to walk through 2 rooms and carry bowls to tables. Better organisation needed.

Review 92:Lovely location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

Review 93:just that when venturing into town (Waterford) it basically shut down at 6pm. only one or two places open to eat. did find a great place though, The Reg, which had awesome live entertainment and good food!

Review 94:The staff and rooms were excellent. Beds very comfortable, bathroom in excellent condidtion. Food good, breakfast perfect.

Review 95:our stay was almost like visiting rich relations..... with housekeepers, cooks, cleaners, gardeners and nothing to worry about, not even being nice to the rich relations. The staff were very pleasant and there if you needed them but not pushy .

Review 96:Receptionist needs to learn to smile, bathroom cold, no under floor heating, shower fitting over the bath is old hat, chipped tiles in bathroom, in need of better care and maintenance. Forgettable experience.

Review 97:Good evening bar meal and excellent breakfast

Review 98:Loved everything

Review 99:They remembered it was our wedding anniversary and help make it special for us. Nothing was to much trouble, very accommodating. The spa treatments in the estuary spa were delightful and so relaxing.

Review 100:Its more for retirees during the week. It would be nice to return, perhaps in a good few years!

Review 101:Staff are very friendly, they give it a feel of five star. Nice refurbishment job done recently. Probably a good spot for families at weekends. A nice resort type feel..

Review 102:You can tell the staff have had excellent training in hospitality, I found they couldnt do enough for you. This for me was the reason I enjoyed the stay so much.

Review 103:The location was out of this world. Nice and relaxing. Rooms were perfect and food was delicious in both the restaurant and the lounge. Staff may is feel very welcoming and ensured us a nice stay. The facilities are perfect, only drawback was you had to use 2 lifts to get to the leisure centre.

Review 104:Bathroom in bedroom was shabby, toilet seat cracked & stained. Shower curtain should not be in 4star hotel. No internet on our stay, phones not working & socket at dressing table

Review 105:Grounds, local area, location & view from our room. Entrance and outside of house were very presentable.

Review 106:The "pool" was a joke. Some friendly, some unfriendly staff. Service hit and miss. Nothing for non golfers. Nobody provided a welcome or an introduction to the place.

Review 107:Decent room. Reasonable price.

Review 108:Booking.com messed up our booking and we weren't able to get the deal but surely wasn't a hotel's fault. However receptionist wasn't really helpful.

Review 109:It was my 3rd time in this hotel and things definitely improved since last year. Décor was changed to more sofisticated. Golf: very nice course,€25 per person for hotel guests. Food: lovely breakfast, very nice dinner Staff: waiter Marek was very friendly and always had a time to talk to all guests. Room: Master room overlooked golf course, big bathroom with both shower and bath.

Review 110:I think the hotel lacks of wow factor (or maybe I was expecting something more luxurious). It's quite far from Waterford city and there is no grounds to go for a walk. If you are not fun of golf, there is very little you can do.

Review 111:Great breakfast, friendly staff and nice facilities.

Review 112:Stayed on Friday 20th march , there was a large wedding party staying but the staff ensured we were comfortable, asked us several times if there was anything they could do for us,it was relaxing atmosphere , excellent food, music in the lounge was a nice touch, all the staff are always helpful , cheerful and nothing is too much trouble and its good to see the manager always present ensuring things run smoothly, will be back very soon .

Review 113:the bedrooms were very tired looking and somewhat dated, I don't believe they were in keeping with the overall standard of the hotel.

Review 114:The reception rooms were very nice and the staff were brilliant.

Review 115:Staff were very professional, friendly and very welcoming to children. Beautiful hotel, so tranquil. Choice at breakfast was excellent and beautiful food. Top of my list and looking forward to returning in a few months.

Review 116:Great location in the heart of the countryside. The perfect place to switch off and relax. Loved the restaurant, had a gorgeous meal there on one of the evenings.

Review 117:The corridors smelled of smoke in the non smoking place. I was waiting quite a while to check in. wifi kept cutting off and only worked in one place in the room.

Review 118:Bar staff were very nice.

Review 119:to be honest not alot was wrong we had a great time

Review 120:hotel was spotless staff was great well mannered and always willing to help hotel 5min drive from city center

Review 121:Poor Bar Staff with unpleasant attitude with the exception of one on Saturday night last. Bar/lounge layout is not great and overall the bar/lounge lacks a good atmosphere.

Review 122:Warm welcome at reception on arrival and pleasant Hotel staff overall.

Review 123:The service in the restaurant was abysmal , nothing good to say about our experince overall, will not be returning , even after our bad experience in the restaurant , we where still charged €10 to have our breakfast delivered to our room, this was a bit cheeky.

Review 124:Not a lot, the breakfast was good .

Review 125:Elderly Lady with glasses at reception wasnt at all welcoming Didnt seem interested in us only our money... All other staff members were brilliant. food was beautifull...best steak sandwich i ever had : )

Review 126:The hotel did not supply a bottle of wine in the room - ordered and paid for. The room and wine were a gift for my parents anniversary; they were not expecting the wine so did not think to question - I only found out it was not included when they returned. When I contacted the hotel, they apologised and offered a refund. They refunded another card and not mine after this. I was very displeased with the level of organisation and handling of this matter. We will not return to this hotel.

Review 127:Very nice hotel, staff are very welcoming and nice, room was brillaint lovely and warm real easy to relax and sleep, food was Very tasty and presented extremely nice, pool and all out facilities get top marks aswel, well worth another stay

Review 128:Staff at hotel were fantastic - unfortunately fellow-guests didn't all meet the grade. Smoking in the bedroom corridor which eventually found its way to the room - very off-putting. Can't blame the hotel though and wouldn't stop us revisiting.

Review 129:Excellent accommodation with it's own historical interests in a great location. Food in restaurant was ample in quantity and of the highest quality (and value!) served in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
