Reviews for Dooley's Hotel
Review 1:Just one thing some of the young people don't understand how to pull a pint of Guinness sorry
Review 2:Staff all lovely room spotlessly clean really enjoyed the weekend
Review 3:I couldn't fault anything about Dooleys .
Review 4:The location was excellent , very friendly and helpful staff , value for money , really good facilities and very reasonably priced parking in car park near by .
Review 5:Excellent staff, very helpful and the receptionist greeted us with a smile and was very efficient. A lovely, quiet room (as requested) spotlessly clean overlooking the river. No complaints.
Review 6:I didn't like was, we had dinner in the restaurant and I payed cash and and the next day when I left I got a phone call of the hotel ask me for a payment for the food that I had pay for the evening before, and there was one more thing and we got room service that morning and we ask for full Irish breakfast and the food was cold and we had no sausages on the plates and had to pay€10 for room service
Review 7:Food was good, and room was clean
Review 8:Excellent location. Stayed with my daughter and grandchildren for one night. 'Extra'bed in the room was comfortable but looked out of place. If linen was the same as other beds it would make a big difference. Room clean and shower great. Bar food excellent with good service and helpful staff. Breakfast next morning was lovely.
Review 9:toilet seat in room had not been cleaned. Room was not made up on day 2. Toilets in lobby were very shabby. Management and staff not concerned about dirty toilet seat or questioned how my stay was. Very impersonal hotel- I won't be back. Tower Hotel is the best in Waterford.
Review 10:THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND LOCATION WAS GOOD
Review 11:Ifound the bathroom at our stay not very good shower was broke so was bath plug and there was 4 of us,staying and we only had 3milk and was same with breakfast delivered to the room 3toast for four people and, paid 20euros to get it delivered to the room iam a very good customer if u check back but was very disappointed this time
Review 12:My family love Dooleys have stayed there twice in the last ten days
Review 13:The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The manager remembered me by name which I thought was very personable. They couldn't do enough to help you. Great staff team!
Review 14:very pleasant stay! The barman kindly made me an irish coffee at about midnight when the bar was really busy, so that really made a difference! The room was big, comfortable and the hotel was in a really good location.
Review 15:Although the room we stayed was fabulous we were told it was on the first floor , but its more like on the third floor all the stairs you have to climb to get to it, this certainly wouldnt suit an elderly couple as its very confusing.
Review 16:I love this hotel it's in a great location, the food is absoutley beautiful and the staff are very helpful.
Review 17:Our room was very close to what I assume were extractor fans from the kitchens - they started early and were quite loud!
Review 18:Central & convenient for shops etc.
Review 19:I didnt realise breakfast wasnt included and the other couple who traveled with us paid 61 euro for the same room i pad 129 euro for so i wasnt impressed when i had to pay for breakfast considering i paid nearly three times what my friends paid
Review 20:I liked the location the room and the bar i had room servive it was quick and the food was lovley
Review 21:The rooms facing the street do not have the best insulated windows which means that when drunk people outside are loud you can hear them. Unfortunately the phone in the room did not work so would had to get out of bed to inform the reception of this.
Review 22:The room and the building where we were staying had a fresh layer of paint.
Review 23:The noise from the function room was dreadful. We stayed with our 3 yearold daughter and she wasn't able to sleep because of the noise, wemay as well have been in the function room it was so loud
Review 24:Location was very good, quick check in
Review 25:There were two bands playing till two am!! We didn't get any sleep. Then when I spoke to the front desk they were very flippant about it and wanted to debate the issue?? I was there with my wife and two small children. The hotel knew there was a function that night so we should have been told or put in a quiet room.
Review 26:Location great Irish breakfast.
Review 27:Beds not properly dressed on one occasion. Room service trays left in hall way up to mid morning a day later. Staff could be more pleasant
Review 28:Hotel well situated. Not much noise Good food
Review 29:Bedrooms were a bit cool until about 4 o'clock, heating was poor until you were in bed , Lounge lacked a feeling of cosiness Stove in fire place could have being turned on , we had to go to Granville Hotel at night for bit of Atmosphere
Review 30:The Location and Price
Review 31:its a hotel for old people which i find amazing considering the awkward lay out of the place, (lifts wont get you to your room, there is always some stair walking required)
Review 32:decent location
Review 33:Couldn't turn off the radiator in bedroom. Nearly cooked with the heat in middle of night
Review 34:Everything was perfect. Staff were friendly, food was lovely
Review 35:Family room on 2nd floor and Christmas party on same night. Music was very loud and kept us awake. Disco music wasn't as loud as the band
Review 36:Location and friendly staff.
Review 37:Room was a bit small for 4 of us.
Review 38:Location and Orla at the front desk. In the bar, they didn't charge the kids for hot chocolate as our room was not ready - really nice touch.
Review 39:We travelled with a 3 year old, and we're originally put on the first floor which was fine til a tribute night started right outside our window at 9:30pm. Woke baby up and had to be moved. Wasn't told of it so was very disappointed.
Review 40:The room was spacious. The location was good but a little hard to work with for parking.
Review 41:Breakfast is rather uninspired -except when one pays some money additionally. I think, 10 € should be enough for a decent breakfast.
Review 42:The location is excellent. People are friendly (as are most Irish :-) ).
Review 43:we had booked our last night closer to Dublin airport,so spent last night at Glenmore house .It was awful.
Review 44:the food was excellent and both food and drinks reasonably priced. Very friendly, helpfull staff.Clean and comfortable hotel with lovely atmosphere and great location
Review 45:Nothing.
Review 46:The staff were just brilliant. Even the house keeping! The one I met had basic English, but he had a lovely demeanour so we just laughed our way through it. I really liked this hotel.
Review 47:My room where it was located and the bar staff
Review 48:I enjoyed the hotel as I stayed last yr the food was lovely the staff in the dining area where very nice
Review 49:Cigarette burn on toilet seat, unacceptable in a non - smoking room, and hardly a huge expense to fix!
Review 50:Location was convenient, pity there's no free parking though. Breakfast provided a good selection of all the basics.
Review 51:It would be nice if you had secure parking but the present arrangement is ok.
Review 52:the leisurely approach in the place. The helpful staff when looking for directions to places in the city and general area
Review 53:The staff were so friendly and proffessional..the food was fab..the bed was super comfy..and the bathroom was spotless..il definately be goin back..i also particularly liked that you had to use your room key card to access the lift..for security reasons
Review 54:The stay at Dooley's was pleasant. The room was spacious and clean and staff was friendly and helpful. Room was beautiful and felt luxurious. Overall a very good experience.
Review 55:had to leave Sunday

Review 57:No coplaints
Review 58:Fabulous historic location central to everything you could need. Traditional Irish hospitality with all the modern conveniences. Great beds, bathrooms and atmosphere. But the best feature of Dooley's is the fantastic staff, a real team, great management leading to happy staff which helps explain the great atmosphere! Breakfast and all meals great!
Review 59:Hotel was slightly dated but perfectly clean.
Review 60:Hotel was perfect for a one night stay in Waterford. The room was lovely, tea/coffee making facilities. Location was pretty good. Staff on check in were busy but very friendly.
Review 61:The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was so comfortable and had everything we could need in it. The hotel itself was so family friendly and had a wonderfull atmosphere, we will definately be back for another visit.
Review 62:Breakfast could be improved, was cold both mornings, it seemed that it had been cooked and just left there,
Review 63:Really enjoyed our evening meal, dined both nights in your restaurant, excellent food, couldn't fault it,
Review 64:Nothing negative to say about our stay
Review 65:We have stayed at the hotel before and it has always been excellent. We will certainly be back again in the future. Thanks a lot for the hospitality
Review 66:Guinness not good. Sitting at bar drinking Guinness we overheard complaints from other customers about it! Ours included!
Review 67:Lovely clean bed. Sheets smelt of clean! Food excellent value for money.
Review 68:nothing
Review 69:hotel is child friendly , staff are very helpful we had breakfast it was self service which is the way all hotels should do . it was perfect we also had a meal in the bar , we loved the food . also on friday night there was a live band in the bar it was very good
Review 70:I have visited before and can only reflect on a superb experience.the first visit was not a one off, the staff and excellent management make this a sheer delight. Ease of booking and everything you require sorted out efficiently by all the friendly staff. Will always return as completely satisfied.
Review 71:The receptionist we went to first was cold throughout the trip and not welcoming. The woman who actually checked us in was lovely as was the hostess at breakfast
Review 72:The hotel was very clean and in an excellent location
Review 73:The bed in our room was very uncomfortable and really needed to be replaced. Also the heating didn't work properly.
Review 74:Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to pubs, shops, restaurant's and museums. Also the hotel had a good atmosphere with mixed age group.
Review 75:Wifi not great and some ports blocked so not great for business access
Review 76:Stopped serving food at 9:30 which is poor for a hotel but staff sorted something which was very good.
Review 77:Waterford is well supplied with large hotels; it may be booked solid in high season, but we were somewhat vexed to see that the last-minute rate was half what we had paid, booking just ten days earlier: it may be worth a waiting game. The lukewarm buffet breakfast is only worth ten Euro if you're in a hurry: the convenience store down the street does excellent croissants and scones, and decent coffee, and there are cafes in town for a fresh-cooked meal amongst the locals.
Review 78:This large tourist hotel has grown organically from an older and smaller establishment: what it now lacks in character it doubtless gains in comfort and efficiency. It is ideally located for independent travel, across the street from the bus station and within a short walk of the rest of the town. With the windows closed, we enjoyed a view of the river without traffic noise, although what might have been a leisurely bath was compromised by the insistent drum and bass from what must have been very loud Saturday night live music in the pub, two floors below. The whole establishment seems to be a bit brow-beaten by waves of coach parties, but it's a fine base for a short stay in Waterford.
Review 79:I had no things that I disliked. I was happy with everything.
Review 80:I liked the location and easy to park. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Nice food too.
Review 81:No complaints, good hotel.
Review 82:An older Hotel, but very comfortable, clean and spacius room. Lovely view from front rooms. Quiet area, right across the bus rank, makes fro easy travel. Would recommend hotel and would stay there again.
Review 83:The humming noise that went on all the time, very difficult to get to sleep with it, the boiler house needs sound proofing or whatever is causing it needs looking into.
Review 84:The bathroom, which is a wet room for a handicapped person. The hotel, which is very clean, newly refurbished and painted. The staff are very well trained.
Review 85:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Very accomodating in getting room ready as quickly as possible on our early arrival. Thank you to girl on reception and cleaning staff for helping us at short notice.
Review 86:The location was perfect for both walking to a dining location and walking to the Waterford Crystal Factory. Parking was available directly across the street.
Review 87:We got dinner that night , all was good I purchased steak being my favourite of all but was not satisfied with it at all . Very disappointing all else was excellent really enjoyed .
Review 88:staff, especially Megan at front desk, she spoke to our two young children as if they were the king & queen of waterford. Excellent food and bar staff extremely friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar both nights and all girls on the bar food part were brilliant.
Review 89:They charge for parking. the information at the hotel description is vague and one can assume you get a free parking however you only get 1 euro discount. Internet connection at my room was very poor.
Review 90:Nice hotel at center of town.
Review 91:To be honest I have no faults with the hotel all around a brilliant place to stay
Review 92:The food was lovely and the staff are very friendly and brilliant with the children
Review 93:For some reason I couldn't access the internet - though I had accessed it on other occasions.
Review 94:As ever I enjoyed my stay at Dooley's while meeting a friend who had come to visit the new Experience Medieval Archery at the Waterford Medieval Museum. As ever I enjoyed my (vegetarian) breakfast. Front office staff were very helpful - I'd problems with phone-charger (forgot same) and I'd lost my reading glasses. - Glasses were loaned :-) Excellent music session at a reasonable hour.
Review 95:Arrived 1 hour before check in and one staff member got an attitude with us. Then we came back 1 hour after our check in time and our room still wasn't ready.
Review 96:Bedrooms basic and compact the valance on the bed was very worn and tatty.
Review 97:receptionist friendly , bar staff friendly efficient and helpful.comfortable surroundings. Music on Saturday night was easy listening perfect volume. Great location and a map of the town available at reception desk. 1€ discount towards parking.
Review 98:There was nothing about this hotel we didn't like.
Review 99:The staff was very helpful and polite. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Food menu was good and reasonable priced.
Review 100:I honestly have nothing to complain about Dooley's
Review 101:Great location. Within walking distance of all of the great sites and shops of Waterford city centre, only a little walk up from the train station and right across the road from the bus station that will take one right to the beach of Tramore. Great selection of restaurants in the area.
Review 102:Booked 4 rooms in total for family weekend. Two of the rooms were triple rooms for 6 adults but one of the beds in each room was only child's camp bed and totally unsuitable for adult. Reception Staff were very condescending, unfriendly and uncooperative when we complained and manager blamed Booking.com for the misrepresentation. Eventually manager agreed to give us a small reduction on each room but still way over priced. Breakfast was not great. Would not stay here again.
Review 103:Very good location
Review 104:Early morning exhaust fan from kitchen starting up below our window. Late night revellers knocking on doors.
Review 105:Good location for getting about town, parking easy across the street in secure car park, good restaurants.
Review 106:We liked everything from excellent staff who were so friendly and helpful to food we had bar food on arrival and breakfast in bar food was so tasty very central to everything within walking distance rooms spotless with all necessities
Review 107:Great hotel for the money. Our favorite part was the restaurant/pub on the main floor. We are a family with young children and were able to get a table that fit all of us. They had board games that kept the kids entertained and even had live music the first night we stayed there.
Review 108:The loading bay at the frot of the hotel was blocked by bollards, which made quick drop off with heavy bags, for check-in, very difficult. Also, we booked a room on the top floor to be away from noise, but were woke at 3.45 in the morning by several groups of very noisy guests talking loudly in the corridor.
Review 109:Extractor fan outside bedroom window woke us at 6.3o am and the smell from it very annoying as we could not get back to aleep
Review 110:Overall v nice relaxed hotel
Review 111:The carpet in the room was stained and along the edges very black, in need of a very good clean. The bed was very hard, pillows very hard and the bed sloped towards the back. From the lift you had to go up and down many stairs before you reach your room, and they said we were on the first floor. What I would call a real rabbit warren!!!
Review 112:The bar staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was quite good.
Review 113:The wifi wasn't great , only worked in the bar, but we didn't pay the 4euro for it so this could be why, but that's just something trivial
Review 114:Was very comfortable, food was amazing staff were more than lovely and so helpful
Review 115:Nilla
Review 116:Comfort courtesy and strategic location to see the sights. I recommend this establishment especially for the quality of its staff. Special thanks to Mr. Noah. thank you
Review 117:Was kept awake all night by other guests across the hall in and out of rooms all night also they were smoking in their rooms and in the corridor
Review 118:hotel was excellent
Review 119:The family room is very small and not suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. Beds were all uncomfortable and the parking is expensive at 3 euro after each exit. No facilities in hotel.
Review 120:The staff in bar were friendly and the hotel was clean.
Review 121:There was a hen party staying in the 1st floor who ran up & down the corridors slamming doors all night. Bearing in mind this floor had the family rooms on it, of which myself & 3 other family Members had booked. Luckily our family party ran late so the kids were tired & the wine kicked in otherwise we'd all have definately complained to security. Lobby & bar have been renovated to a great standard but the reception toilets desperately need the same treatment. They are used by everyone in the bar, lobby & the function room & are awful. I seem to remember them like that when I attended a friends wedding 9 years ago ! Bed was too hard, rooms tired & need updating.
Review 122:Great location for visiting Waterford. Breakfast is fantastic & a great start to the day. Bar food equally good & served until late in the evening. Live music in the bar was an added bonus. Not sure if this is a regular thing or just because of the Spraoi festival which was running that weekend in the city.
Review 123:Sunday arrived in Waterford, last day of SPROI festival in the town. Due to large numbers of people in town (restaurants, bars, etc)... planned end of day to be at the Dry Dock Bar. Signage throughout the hotel promoted "live music". From 8:00p until 10;10p in bar.. waited, never saw as advertised.. 8:30-10:30.. very disappointed in this 'advert' that left unfulfilled expectation.
Review 124:Clean, comfortable hotel with good location for both town, and travel. Staff definitely focused upon needs of traveler, and attentive to any issues as they arose.
Review 125:The hotel is certainly not a 3 *.the lobby and the bar area is very dull and dated. The staff were very nice but the lady in reception wasn't very helpful in recommending good bar food
Review 126:The location was central
Review 127:Didn't replenish breakfast buffet very quickly. Reception staff not great. Room key not activated so had to run back down 3 floors to get done as lift was in use, no apology. Wi Fi code was part missing on key envelope and not very helpful on phone.
Review 128:Very comfortable beds and great shower. Good location and as in an end of corridor room it was quite quiet.
Review 129:The non smoking room had obviously been smoked in and when we informed staff they showed little interest or concern. Sleeping in this room was extremely difficult due to the fact I am an asthmatic.
Review 130:Breakfast was good.
Review 131:No safe for valuables, No free parking.
Review 132:Stay was pleasant and close to the center of town. The breakfast was excellent. The best on our trip so far! ++
Review 133:As a young family we stayed here for two nights we stayed room only but the room was great and location of hotel was excellent. We will be going back soon.
