Reviews for Xenia Ouranoupolis

Review 1:The room was very basic and had a slightly damp smell. The shower had grubby grouting and rusty screws. The four star rating is a little bemusing.

Review 2:Right next to the beach and a short walk from Ouranoupolis.

Review 3:Cleaning poor, dirty on arrival, dust everywhere (other peoples dead skin) bathroom floor never cleaned properly, floor left awash after cleaners, very dangerous nearly slipped several times. The toilet seat was broken but I managed to fix it. Tv waste of space Minibar never replenished. Safe charge never advertised, only 1€ per day but its a key operated safe so you have to carry the key around. Internet only available in lobby at €5 per day charge. Free wifi at local bars & restaurants so why does this hotel charge and why can't it be available in the rooms. We are no longer in the 1990's. Drink cups never changed during the stay (1 week) Poor lighting in rooms. If you're a female you'll never see properly to put on your makeup. No full length mirror. Balcony chairs almost impossible for anyone over 40 to get in and out of, very low slung rope chairs. The beds are rock hard, if you didn't have a bad back before staying here you will on leaving. Towels supposed to be changed every 3 days but not on 6th day if you're leaving on 7th. Toilet rolls not always replenished by room service. No toilet rolls or hand towels in reception female toilet Hoovering at 0730 just in case you needed to wakeup. Canteen style food in restaurant. Wild dogs and cats around external breakfast/restaurant tables scrounging food sometimes aggressively, staff do nothing about it. Its unhygienic and intimidating. Pool never cleaned during our stay.

Review 4:Location, views.

Review 5:The staff would not get the fridge to work as they did not want guests to store their own stuff, the Internet was expensive so we used cafes and restaurants to catch up. No electric kettle.

Review 6:Comfortable simple rooms over the good swimming beach:great location. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Low cost for such a location.

Review 7:Mattresses were awful, like sleeping on floor boards, all of our group complained of waking up due to discomfort/pain from the mattresses. No wifi in the room. Otherwise a fantastic place to stay due to location and views as well as very well kept grounds.

Review 8:Fantastic location, nicely arranged accommodation around well kept gardens and private beach and pool. Wonderful beach, not crowded, peaceful, clean clear water, minutes walk from the hotel. Great restaurants within 7 mins walk of the hotel.

Review 9:no services of a four star hotel but the worst is that the staff (especially people in higher positions), weren't kind, willing to help and accomodate guests. I am sorry for our experience

Review 10:very close to ouranoupolis village

Review 11:Buffet breakfast and lunch very poor Dishes do not represent excellent greek cuisine No value for money

Review 12:The hotel buildings, the rooms, the beaches. However, the sunbeds and umbrellas should be available free of charge for hotel clients

Review 13:I wondered where those all 4 stars are coming from! 4 stars, really? Staff is nice but facility is in bad condition, sheets are not clean, poor house cleaning, no wifi in the room, disappointment for the money that has been paid.

Review 14:Hotel runs as a very low budget hotel. Beach sunbeds broken , terriblefood, rooms with huge quality differences. Managment policy is the bigissue at this property. Its a pity because is a beaudiful hotel withtraditional stone-wood architecture in a perfect location ,beach andwalking distance to the small beaudifull ouranoupoli village. If you canget the superior bungalow in good price worths a try but be preperedthat is far from a 4* hotel. I can consider going back only if the managment-ownership is changed.

Review 15:Staff helpfull that did its best specialy considering thesurcumstances.my propose to xenia company: get a qualifide manager orsale the property to someone who has THE"KNOW HOW"

Review 16:The only minor negative thought was that the bread at breakfast could have been better.

Review 17:Elegant rooms that remained cool even without air-conditioning, wonderful location by centre of town and public transport.

Review 18:- practically no refrigerator in the room (it is forbidden to t put anything yours in the minibar refrigerator) - charging for safe box even it is written by booking com it is in the room - very high price for umbrella and chair at the beach hence they were empty -mo WiFi in the room -WiFi only in lobby but very expensive

Review 19:Very good location

Review 20:Hotel was poor. Charged for WiFi, Public furniture damaged and dangerous. Food was mass produced package tour buffet. Grounds were poorly maintained - paths looked like a building site. Bathroom door rotting. Basin plug didn't work.

Review 21:Going out to see Mount Athos.

Review 22:Wi-fi only in the lobby, very nerrow stonely beach, the king size bed is actually two beds united that are mouving apart during the night, rooms are not al all in bungalows on the beach they are in some "camp" complex in a garden and even they have windows towards the beach they are located far enough so you cannot hear the sea at all...

Review 23:Staff awfull. Breakfast awfull, for the same price go outside. No Wi-Fi at all except in the lobby. Normal room shower dirty and broken.outdoor swimming pool closes at6pm. If this was the best hotel of the city you should definitely plan to go somewhere else!

Review 24:the superior room was clean.near city center. Direct access to the beach and outdoor swimming pool

Review 25:Staff is too much,,visible'' and not so kind (their english language is bad). No map or signs at paths. Better organization and menagment needed.

Review 26:Wonderfull location with good potential but it needs more investment in ,,small'' things for example gardening, staff, playground for children...

Review 27:-foot path to village broken -indoor swimming pool closed, for 10e open -internet 5e / day of bad quality -outdoor pool closed -no massage -no spa open -some of the construction falls apart -grass not maintained -no luggage service -bookings offered with breakfast and with finalising this had disappeared; very unfair, i assume, of bookings -not cosy hall and brreakfast/dining room

Review 28:location

Review 29:Bus stop to Thessaloniki directly across the road. Great location and close to all things necessary for pilgrims to Athos. Fantastic breakfast with Spanakopita.

Review 30:Staff was undertrained but friendly. Food was horrible. Didn't expect much, but they could make a better effort. They also should clean/rake their private beach. We were there 4 nights and it was clear they only emptied the trash.

Review 31:Location was great

Review 32:Even with all inclusive, one need to pay for drinks; cleaning was not ok; stones at the beach; food quality and diversity do not suit to the 4 star hotel; internet is not free, only at lobby there is free internet.

Review 33:What I liked extremely is that the hotel is very close to the see and ouranopoulis is an unique town if you are orthodox christian.

Review 34:The view from the balcony was absokutely breathtaking. Internet was only in the lobby. We were upset first, but eventually it turned out for the better, as we spent more time in nice conversations rather than in Facebook. The restaurant definitely needs more staff as sometimes at breakfast the were not enough waiters to bring forks, glasses or coffee.

Review 35:The room smelled really bad (apparently there was an issue with the toilet, the staff were aware of it but couldn't fix it). That was extremely annoying especially when I had to bath my 9 month old son. Not convenient when traveling with a baby (there is only a small mini bar). The sea is close but it is in front of the hotel, only for a few rooms. We needed to walk 5 min from our room to the beach, which is not bad if you don't expect the sea to be in front of the room (as advertised). We had to pay extra for the umbrellas on the beach. A member of the staff came to check the mini fridge the day we were leaving. Apparently it is the hotel's policy but I think it is unprofessional. Most hotels ask you if you have used anything during the check out. And they always had our credit card details if they needed to make extra charges.

Review 36:Location - Tavernas, restaurants and cafés very close to the hotel Spacious rooms The sea is close View of the room (olive trees and the sea)

Review 37:Very bad service in the restaurant Durty rooms and restaurant Not smart waiteress Not enough cleaning of the room Poor food variaety Paid beach with very very! bad beach bar Paid internet available only in reception area Air-condition in the room only if you are in the room

Review 38:Big rooms Large area Good location to the village Delicious food

Review 39:To expensive for a 2 stars standard hotel. Everything you asked for, was billed; extra pay for wi-fi , safe key, beach-bed etc. Double bed is actually twin-bed, Booking.com should perform an evaluation related to stars standard. This hotel appears as 4 stars but is nowhere near to that.

Review 40:Location, staff attitude,

Review 41:The problem is lack of maintenance - and, in my view, a clear attempt to squeeze as much money out of this business whilst cutting corners on cost. Whilst many of the young employees are most pleasant - and try to do their best, I would say that, for high season, the hotel is understaffed - and there appears to be no real senior management. One example of extra revenue creation is that there is a daily charge for the safety box in the room [ I've travelled worldwide - and never come across this ]. The cleaning staff - whilst pleasant - are clearly overwhelmed and understaffed. I could go on ...but won't. It is a great pity as a little more investment would enhance reputation and pay dividends. The property is now in private hands ....and I am forced to wonder whether the owners are interested in protecting their four star rating. Sorry, but as you know from the many hotel reviews which I have completed for you over the past several years, I give credit where credit is due .....but not in this case.

Review 42:Believe it or not, my wife and I stayed at the original Government owned & run Xenia Ouranoupolis in 1973! It was then a small beachside hotel with an almost private beach close to the then village of Ouranoupolis. Thus, we thought that this would be a very good experience this time around. In terms of location, this remains true and the expanded facilities certainly meet most needs.

Review 43:Rooms not so clean...

Review 44:Good breakfast Very nice location

Review 45:I thought a hotel like this must have Wi-Fi in the all rooms!

Review 46:No Wifi

Review 47:Location next to the boat for Ayion Oros

Review 48:We booked a double bed what we got was two singles pushed together which is NOT a double bed.

Review 49:The friendly staff and the location.

Review 50:Food in restaurant. Price for facilities and confort in room

Review 51:Problem with plumbing

Review 60:Breakfast is very very bed.

Review 61:Big room. Big terrace. On the beach. See view. Only 5 minuts from beautiful town Ouranopolis.

Review 62:lot of small savings

Review 63:Rooms were not like i requested, the guy from reception gave us the keys and he didnt know where the rooms are...?! Parking was unsecured!

Review 64:Spa-Massage Centre very experienced and qualified personnel. Reception very professional too.

Review 65:Bad communication between staff and customers resulting in frustration for both parts.

Review 66:Location, facilities, comfort.

Review 67:No WIFI in the rooms. Coffee and juice on breakfast are extra.

Review 68:Very close to the port, good B&B proposition for valid price.

Review 69:Breakfast, clean room, close to town

Review 70:Small bathroom cabine Lot of mocquitos in room Tv remote doesn't work

Review 71:Hrana je losa za hotel sa 4*

Review 72:More je kristalno.....

Review 73:no wifi in the rooms, only in lobby, poor breakfast, only 7-8 tv channels ;(,safe not free

Review 74:Good location,big rooms,nice staff ;)

Review 75:There were no fly screens and there were mosquito, no wifi, breakfast was poor and indifferent and the beach in front of the hotel was rocky.

Review 76:Location is excellent, young trainee staff very willing and helpful and rooms comfortable and spaciuous

Review 77:I remembered the pictures on the page were totally different with the real picture when we arrived. The rooms were not the same like on the pictures, there were no bath tubs, the beds were old and separate single beds, the staff were not nice at all, (with exception of 2-3 people), they were rood and not professional at all. The food was the same EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! and sometimes left over from the day or days before. Except for the chairs on the beach and the wifi that is written that is extra charge, you have to pay extra for the hammam, sauna, inside pool and the fitness room if you want to use it, which was not written anything about that. The location is nothing special, there is only one short street where you can take a walk, and there are very few restaurants and bars. I will definitely not recommend to anybody, for the money that you pay you can get much better deal somewhere else. This hotel is rated as a 4 stars hotel, I would give only 1!!!!!

Review 78:not enough parking place. checking of the minibar status every morning instead before you leaving. on the booking.com it is written that they charge you at your stay, actually they will ask for full amount immediately when you take your room-key. meal not variable enough for hotel rated with 4*. as guest of the hotel you will also be charged for sunbeds and umbrella.

Review 79:nice wide room, big bathroom and big balcony. staff was speaking English and was polite.

Review 80:The fact that if we would like to use the WiFi that was only at thelobby should pay; if we would like to use the indoor pool we should pay,the parasol and lounge on the beach cost money as well

Review 81:Location, the hotel and the whole area was excellent, the beach was nextto the hotel, the food was perfect, the rooms were very spacious, theview from the balcony was looking to the see.

Review 82:It's for certainly the hotel with the best situation. Big, clean rooms, friendly and helpful stuff. When I was making the reservation I was wondering why this hotel has such low rating. I couldn't find anything bad in this hotel. We were satisfied with everything and had a great vacation there. You'll not be sorry if you choose it.

Review 83:staff is not too friendly or helpful even as a guest of a hotel I had to pay for sunbed and umbrella food is not as variable as expected in 4-star hotel

Review 84:location near the town of ouranoupoli on the beach spatious rooms, facilities, own beach, spa, swimming pool nice garden, trees, bungalows

Review 85:Unfortunately there was not so wide variety of food. The vegetables and some of the dishes were not that fresh as well.

Review 86:The rooms are very clean and large, the baths are aromatized. The staff was very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed every second in the hotel and the largest gardens.

Review 87:1.old furniture and style 2. too small crt tv 3. for shampoo something like handsoap 4.no wi fi in the rooms

Review 88:1.exceptional view 2.comfortable beds 3.spacious rooms and bathrooms 4. polite staff 5. spa facilities

Review 89:The hotel was not clean. We had problems with the door lock and the electricity was not working properly. Problems with the payment. The credit card was charged twice. After 40 mins they have cancelled the second transaction.

Review 90:Location of the hotel.

Review 91:understaffed, it could be better decorated

Review 92:location, spacious rooms

Review 93:Small tv old type.

Review 94:Excellent location-view. Clean rooms. Economical price.

Review 99:Resturant

Review 100:Staff Room Proximity to beach Location of hotel Quiet

Review 101:The fridge was not operating very good; the bath pipe was blocked

Review 102:Design, facilities, the beach and the pool, the view.

Review 103:The fridge was not working. Even I complained, nothing was done.

Review 104:Comfortable rooms, good location.
