Reviews for Orchid Hotel & Resort

Review 1:Hotel advertises free calls abroad. From the room, but you can only call from lobby. No bathrobes available

Review 2:Privacy of room. No long corridors.comfortable room

Review 3:Dirt under bed, bed broken, light bulbs out, hot tub did not heat water; shows lack of management oversight.

Review 4:Appointments of room, view, food. Problem areas were corrected but only after our complaints.

Review 5:1.The room we received was dirty . 2. After moving to another room it didn't have any cylinder at the door . The balcony's door didn't have any door handle. 3.Breakfast was poor and un tasty . 4. No internet !!!!!

Review 6:The view only

Review 7:Leaving the hotel we wanted to stay longer but had to leave for our daughter

Review 8:Had a few teathing problems with regular room discussed it with karmit the hotel manager she upograded us to beautiful villa with jacuzzi and a view to die for best hotel in Eilat hands down beats herrods and other 5 star hotels thank you karmit for making our stay so great

Review 9:Maintanance is terible. pilling paint and broken deck in the pull. Rusty towel holder... Is this 5 stars hotel??? Not comfortable with kids under 14 that can't go up and down to the room by themselfs. only with tuktuk. I wrote an email with the rejects - no one reply!!!

Review 10:Beautifull hotel

Review 11:No beach access , maintenance is very behind in and outside the rooms. Part of the staff friendly , part not. For 1000 shekels a night we did not get the paid value. We would not go back there

Review 12:The setting is nice with the gardens.

Review 13:The rooms need to be gone through and fixed. Our shower leaked behind the toilet and made a huge puddle on the floor every time. Also, there are big nics in doors, etc and rust spots in bathroom. The loft beds are just mattresses on the floor and we found old soda bottles on the windo sill behind the curtains.. For a facility of this price things should be perfect.

Review 14:The view

Review 15:room service was very slow and not very welcoming, staff could be more friendly, not everyone who visits is Israeli and naturally complains we are used to friendly very helpful staff at hotels of this caliber. check in and out times do not make sense for tourists from overseas as we are not aware of the Jewish holiday calendar!

Review 16:location and layout of the hotel, breakfast!

Review 17:This was supposed to be the luxurious part of our 3 week honeymoon to Israel. We are well seasoned travellers so a lack of English is usually fine but Elait is all about relaxation and luxury. No one spoke English at this hotel and we were ignored by staff and passed over despite advertising as English speaking hotel with a high star rating. The food wasn't great and we had no idea what time it was served as no one could tell us when we arrived. We requested a breakfast box for our last day and of course, went till 3pm without food as they hadn't made one despite requests. We had to carry our own bags up stairs with the staff looking on and the shuttle buses are just the local Egged buses and only run for a few hours per day and stop at 7pm. In general, we felt this hotel was very poor value for money and didnt enrich our honeymoon at all.

Review 18:The hotel is attractive and the pool and landscaping are great.

Review 19:the whole staff can't speak english, not a single word. paradoxically, the only one who can speak a bit of english happens to be a receptionist (blond hair, wears glasses, never smiles) and is the most unfriendly person one can ever imagine to talk to. you don't feel welcome at all. poor food quality dirty rooms, mostly broken down

Review 20:The rooms need updating The wifi didn't work in the restaurant We were told we could park at the orchid reef and we could not We were told we would get a ride to the reef but that was misinformation The front desk staff was not very friendly

Review 21:The location across from the reef Taking the golf carts to the rooms

Review 22:too expensive for what you get. meals at the restaurant are very expensive if not included in your room rate, though food is very good. staff was nearly useless. any questions we had about nearby attractions (coral reserve, aquarium, dive companies, etc) was responded either with "I don't know", or flat-out incorrect information note that while siam suites state they can take 4 people, the additonal people will be in a loft above your head - no privacy for parents with kids location - if you're looking for attractions within eilat, it's a 10-15min drive

Review 23:comfortable room (siam suite) with view of the red sea. breakfast was excellent, great selection and quality. location - easy walking access to aquarium and coral reserve.

Review 24:The bathtub was not so clean.

Review 25:The layout of the place is very nice. the staff are amazing. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We were very sad to leave.

Review 26:Hotel does need renovation and better cleaning.

Review 27:Location, the whole hotel concept, design and facilities(Thai village, electric cars service, kids pools). Good breakfasts corresponding to 4* hotel level.

Review 28:- personnel is not very friendly (we could compare to the Orchid Reef hotel) - transport to beach and town is not well documented, no personnel member seems willing to help - golf carts instead of lift feels very unsafe and sometimes dangerous - breakfast has very few fresh fruits (appel and orange) - every day we had to call to get towels - front desk doesn't always reply, if you need a golf cart ride down... you just wait or walk - the tropic and relax look on the photos don't reflect the real atmosphere

Review 29:- swimming pool & sun bed area - hotel environment - tropic-relax look of some of the buildings

Review 30:Most of the staff wasn't capable of communicating in basic English. The pool was too cold and the hot tub was broken.

Review 31:Loved that the location was in the mountains which was very unique. Loved the poolside beds with an awesome view of the Red Sea.

Review 32:noise the other guests were making late in the evening and staff did not care for it even after several complaints

Review 33:location and the way the separate rooms/houses were located on the slope of a hill

Review 34:The rooms are old: wallpaper starting to lift, very few power outlets, and wi-fi is slow. They say they are a 5 star hotel yet have no wash clothes, tissues, or robes. The public areas are not kept clean; trash around the pool areas. Rooms are scattered around the property, and you usually need a staff member to come and pick you up with a golf cart. They do respond quickly, but it takes time so make sure you have everything you need with you. The property has a lovely sea view, but is removed from everything, no cafés, a swimming beach; a car is a must.

Review 35:The desk staff were very helpful and provided good service. A good example is that we had an early tour and without asking they arranged a box breakfast for us. The breakfast buffet is very tasty, with many choices.

Review 36:There is nowhere in the pool area that is smoke free. After moving away from smokers 4 times, gave up returned to room balcony to find I had a smoker on the adjoining balcony. Otherwise, all is fine but would not return until there is a change in the smoking policy.

Review 37:We spent the first night at room 100 because the hotel was overbooked. The room was dirty, located at noisy service area, very close to electric pole with big transformer. We got a normal room (428) only at six pm next day No compensation was offered

Review 38:thinks which were simply broken or almost not usable: - voip phones in the lobby - internet computers - wifi interrupted every few seconds (in the room and even in the lobby) - the so called "gym" consists of only five machines and more than the half of it is not working - shower and steam sauna are just out of order and disgustingly dirty (!) - rentable bicycles are almost all damaged and can hardly be used - staff seems unmotivated - food is served in the evening by the pool on plastic plates and bottle of wine is served without chiller

Review 39:The food is verry good

Review 40:my Villa was on the Mountains but there was some El. Cars

Review 41:Excellent Israelien Breakfast and good Rooms

Review 42:Personal was unhelpful.

Review 43:Place, nice view on the see.

Review 44:Everything The rudest people on earth, they ruin your holidys. Ugly town Crazy expensive

Review 45:Upgrade to a better room

Review 46:Run down, crowded.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Started off a little rocky due to some booking issues, but the stafftook very good care of us. What an awesome place.

Review 49:It was a bit remote from rest of places

Review 50:The ambiance

Review 51:Everything

Review 52:Location, resort facilities, pool area, meals, staff competence.

Review 53:for a 5 star hotel was very bad max 3 stars.

Review 54:nothing

Review 55:Only trivial complaint - pool is unheated.

Review 56:Quiet, comfortable, excellent food, very nice grounds & views.

Review 57:unable to get Wi Fi in my room. To far from the town of Elat

Review 58:The place looks very pretty

Review 59:With a bit more love of detail this could me the most amazing place ...

Review 60:Beautiful hotel with amazing view and gorgeous garden!

Review 61:Bad was not comfortable. Fridge was empty.

Review 62:Location, spacious room, breakfast, quite, swimming pool.

Review 63:Location, view.

Review 64:Helpfulness of the staff. Pool area

Review 65:Arrived at check in and the service was poor, took them 40 minutes to give us a key that didn't even work, that while charging the wrong amount and ages to refund and recharge. Arrived at the room and the keys didn't work, someone came with a master key and let us in, 20 minutes later someone else came with other keys and they didn't work either. Bathroom was so filthy it had spiders in it, eventually we went to another hotel. Wont recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 66:I have been to many hotels in my life, and I am very objective when it comes to reviews as I would like to help other travelers in choosing the best option. Despite the fact the hotel has an excellent location, great concept, the room's cleanliness is simply unacceptable. The bathroom is full of mold, very old. They also had to clean the AC filter as had an allergic reaction to the AC, finding out it was filthy like I haven't seen before. As soon as we go out of the room we have a trash with trash literally falling all around it, with a very bad smell. In the Breakfast buffet, the man making the eggs is a very rude person, getting angry for not understanding the slightest thing from people who were not Israeli. The coffee and tea cups were broken. This hotel needs serious renovation. Such a shame for such a strategic location. Not worth the $200+ per night paid. And most definitely, not a 5-star hotel at its current state.

Review 67:The hotel has an excellent location, right in front of the famous Observatory, a great attraction in Eilat, and all rooms looking at the beautiful Red Sea. They have a unique concept of cottages mounted on top of the hill overlooking the Red Sea. They have a Thai/Asian inspiration in the interior decor.

Review 68:The beach erea is kinda far but worth it !! The room pictures on the listing are kinda general and don't show each room style in details

Review 69:The hotel and facilities are very nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful the pool and the beach ereas are amazing

Review 70:The staff were extremely rude, breakfast had flies and birds flying near the food. But mostly the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful

Review 71:Our room was great, view was nice and the pool.

Review 72:This was an enchanting experience living in the middle of a beautiful garden and having the view of the sea and the mountains was perfect/ The staff were most helpful, the swimming pool, lovely, the food excellent both mornings and evenings, We thoroughly enjoyed out stay

Review 73:I hated to leave!

Review 74:The hotel is beautiful and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful, and clearly cared about our enjoyment. Of course, the location is gorgeous. And the food was delicious with huge buffet selections. I felt that it was great value for the money.

Review 75:Disappointing place. Very bad quality of staff (impolite andincompetent, problem-avoiders all), service and cleanliness. No beach inwalking distance. Pieces of food all around the garden, with catsrunning all around. Took me a while to realize that the smell in thegarden is catpee - instead of orchids. Room is not cleaned properly, sometimes not at all. &Quot;Gourmet cuisine" equals to mirelitpizza and pommes frites in the bar, if you're not on a full mealplan. Not even a very good of its kind. Ridiculous price-value ratio.

Review 76:Nice view, good pools for kids, multinational clientele. But it's adisappointing place overall. Very bad quality of staff (impolite andincompetent, problem-avoiders all), service and cleanliness. No beach inwalking distance. Ridiculous price-value ratio.

Review 77:One of the worst hotel experiences of my life! Disaster from start to finish... Would strongly advise that people avoid this place until they have sorted out their staffing issues. Unfriendly, downright horrible staff. No access to decent filter coffee for 26 hours, when I eventually complained to the manager they found that the staff had been lying about the machine not working because they didn't like making cappuccinos! Seriously unacceptable, overpriced, awful awful place - and for so many more reasons than I have listed above!

Review 78:Not much

Review 79:The staff at check in were horrible no greetin no smile of welcome and they messed up the booking. The room was not cleaned during our stay which was two nights. Breakfast was a free for all Good advice don't go here, there are a lot better places in Eilat

Review 80:It's close to good diving

Review 81:It was a bit rundown, the staff was too busy to help everyone...usually only one person was working at a time. Bikes were advertised as being available but there were never any there for use when we wanted them. Wifi only occasionally worked.

Review 82:The idea of the thai village was really great and I'm sure with some renovations this place could be amazing. Breakfast was great and the pool area really nice.

Review 83:Annoying having to wait to go to or from the room in the tuktuk's. Ended up walking most times as it was quicker.

Review 84:Amazing peaceful location, nice rooms, great view and fairly reasonably priced.

Review 85:generally the hotel is not clean the fitness facilities are a joke wet sauna is a storage room dry sauna is not working the "free bikes" are mostly broken dining room full of flays the "tok tok" service does not work properly

Review 86:the reception lady and the security people are polite and nice

Review 87:Check in was dreadful, plus they messed up the booking, my room was not cleaned after the first night, breakfast was a mental free for all and I can go on but I won't however when I took this up with the Hotel they were not specifically bothered they said I could fill out a form And send it in. Rather than deal with it on the spot? To sum it up a total lack of service.

Review 88:Interesting concept

Review 89:The hotel was a bit shabby . The ceiling fan didn't work. The window in the bathroom couldn't open and the toilet flush was too weak.

Review 90:I liked the location being far away from the main tourist route. We were close to nature and the beaches and a greT seafood restaurant called The Last Resort.

Review 91:the room was shabby, the toilet was leaking, the phone did not work . It was difficult to get the shuttle, we ended up using the taxi. The stuff was very nervous

Review 92:The grounds are beautiful and well maintained

Review 93:Everything. Poor check in, staff was not trained, not even close to 5 stars, I would say less then 2. Felt like a very cheap motel. Felt like I was mislead by booking.com. The hotel was very far from the main strip, and very close to the Egyptian border. If you don't have a car, you will have to pay a lot of money if you plan shopping, because all major malls are located im the city. We had to leave the hotel one day prior to our original day of departure because we were so disappointed.

Review 94:Bathroom was awfully dirty. I asked 3 times for cleaning with no success. Additional beds for kids were ordered and they took money for them but delivered sth awful and dirty. Wifi works only around pool and restaurant, no chances to have it in the rooms.

Review 95:Arrangement of the hotel. Trees and a lot of green around cottages. Breakfast.

Review 96:All of the issues we experienced were dealt with however we would not recommend this hotel resort to our friends. It is a shame that the night management were so bad as it is a very beautiful location and could be a lot better. Also beware of the pictures this hotel advertises on Booking.com as the room you THINK you are getting MAY not be the room you are getting. The pictures they advertise are their newer terrace rooms. Unless you are buying the best room the other rooms are adequate and modest. Wifi was terrible and unusable for 95% of our stay. The check-out desk was very pro-active in speaking to the PR Manager before we checked out and managed to get our room charges refunded due to other issues that we experienced that are not appropriate to write on this forum.

Review 97:The staff at the check-in desk were very good. However, the night managers of this resort have very poor people skills.

Review 98:Noisy at 4am. The pool was cold. The whirlpool was cold.

Review 99:it's a beautiful and interesting place. All the units are built with a Thai theme. They stretch up the hill overlooking the Red Sea with some great views. Good breakfast. Beautiful space around the pool. Nwely redone rooms and bathrooms.

Review 100:The hotel is built on the mountain side and you need to be driven bya golf cart to and from your room. It was fairly fast but sometimeswe waited for about 15/20 minutes to be picked up. The rooms arenice but kind of old. They said it was renovated but it wasn'tall that fancy.

Review 101:Very nice and polite staff. Nice place. The view is great and thebreakfast was very good. The coffee station is a bit to small toaccommodate the morning rush but other then that it was nice atmosphereand pleasant place to stay in.

Review 102:the road traffic noise was a bit much at times, and there was some difficulty with the staff getting orders correct. Also very badly under staffed on the reception desk

Review 103:I liked to view from your apartment and the general atmosphere was nice. the manager was excellent we had difficulty finding the and he took care of use till we found our way there.

Review 104:We had such a weird stay in Orchid hotel. Don't go there if you're expecting a 5 stars service. You have to pay before having seen your room. They ask you to sign the contract only written in Hebrew. They don't serve food in the restaurant during the all Shabbat ; you even can't have an espresso or an orange juice but you can find DEAD fish in the lobby bassin. Don't expect anyone except Ricky the manager to understand proper English. And after experiencing some fall of plaster from the ceiling in our bed during the night we asked the receptionist to do something, they didn't. Then during our second night we wake up because some big pieces of plaster felt on us... Then the management said "sorry" and change our room and offer us a lunch... May be because of Shabbat they couldn't fix the ceiling and did prefer to injured their customers... Weird...

Review 105:Except this, the place look very nice !

Review 106:The poolwater wasn´t warmed, so we couldn´t swim there because it was winter. There was no free of charge beach near.

Review 107:Location, not in the center of Eilat, more peaceful and beautiful. Very good and diverse breakfast. Taiwan-style, cottage-style. Pools. Beautiful surroundings. Near the underwater observatory.

Review 108:Requires renovation. Sound insulation is not good. Cats on the hotel area are shouting all night long...

Review 109:Nice location. Really close to the coral area.

Review 110:The place is very run down and the service is not good. For example, our room was up a flight of stairs and the bellman refused to carry up our luggage. We ordered breakfast boxes for our early morning trip to Petra and they were not set up. Stuff like that. Also the rooms are very old and in need of an update.

Review 111:The view was amazing.

Review 112:On the website, it says there is 'gourmet cuisine, a spa, and 5-star accommodation'. But it is totally not what we expected for a 5-star hotel. Room: The room is old and out of maintenance. We were in Room 310, but it was very noisy as it is located on the tuk-tuk route. It is also full of ants in the bathroom. We requested to change room and we were put at 208 but the floor is broken. Staff is not well trained. The security is not friendly. We wait long during check in as there was only one receptionist. Food: We arrived late at night and only bar food was available. The food was cold, microwaved, wine is bad, and they charge 60 Sheqel for a fruit salad! Breakfast buffet is messy. Birds are standing at the bread counter and sharing the bread. Room service is also poor. I would say it is 3-star max.

Review 113:View of red sea Tuk-tuk service

Review 114:What didn't I like? Absolutely nothing. It was perfect.

Review 115:The location was excellent with our room positioned with amazing views of the bay and Jordanian mountains. Staff were helpful, especially Neomi (the travel/activities liaison - who helped me plan the most amazing proposal I could have hoped for!)

Review 116:Staff was not really friendly; overall the hotel is declining and far from a real 5* hotel standard; 2 days in a row used plates and glasses were left close to the stairs, apparently nobody cared removing them; breakfast box for early wake up was containing food from the night before pasta salad and tuna...no bred but butter and the apple was clearly not fresh anymore.

Review 117:The swimming pool area

Review 118:A limited choice of English speaking tv channels, which in winter is more noticeable as its difficult to sit outside after 3.00pm with feeling the cold. Rooms could do with a little redecorating, but the Thai style is still very pleasing on the eye.

Review 119:Although the hotel is not in as good a condition as the brochures suggest,it is still a lovely place to stay. Israeli hotels are not known for their warm welcome, and therefore we were not disappointed. The location which is quiet is really beautiful, and the rooms which require a buggy to get to have beautiful sea views. The food was very tasty, but unfortunately there was no no sign of the Oriental restaurant we dined in at the hotel on our previous visit to Eilat some 10 years ago. The pool is well appointed with lots of seating configurations, all of which are in a good state of repair.

Review 120:The motor boater with banana banishing people from the water right before the hotel beach

Review 121:The place is really bautiful. We enjoyed sunrise at sea from the villa. One night some ibexes walked down the mountain to our door.

Review 122:Service was outrages we didn't get what we paid for. We didn't get the room they show on the picture They charged us extra for many other things.

Review 123:This is a very good place for families. The buffet meal was good but we would have preferred a restaurant with choices on a menu.

Review 124:The manager was extremely helpful on several occasions, well beyond the "call of duty". He made our stay a pleasure. Also one wait staff man was a delight.

Review 125:Staff of the hotel is very attentive, friendly and helpful. I had some problems with my room, but they solve them immediately. Location is perfect for those who wants quiet and rest. Beach near the hotel is much better than in the city center. Transfer to the beach and city center is well organised also.

Review 126:The hotel is presented as 5 star and is max 3 star - everything is old, the entrance is very used, old fashioned, only one staff working at the reception, the dining room a mess, not real presentation of food at buffet, tables partly broken, small pool too many people and most of them not friendly , the beach far away from the hotel in another hotel of the same group... we were really highly disappointed

Review 127:The manager at least tried to find a solution but we later found out that he did not tell you the truth so we were very disappointed.

Review 128:Despite being 5*, the hotel was in need of refurbishment, especially the rooms. I wrote twice in advance requesting recommendations for day trips to Petra and heard nothing back. We requested a breakfast box for our trip to Petra which they forgot about so our young children had nothing to eat until lunchtime. All in all, this is not a 5* hotel.

Review 129:The African waiters and cleaners. They were very polite and hardworking.

Review 130:the staff were not as helpful as I would have liked them to be, I often had to ask for things more than once (sometimes several times). I also felt that they failed to give me info when I arrived, eg where to go, the hotel program (I didn't realise there were events at night because of this and missed them) I asked them about things to do in the area and they failed to mention a big party nearby that everyone else staying at the hotel seemed to know about. If you do your homework then it is great, just don't rely on the staff to tell you 'whats on'. We happened to go at a time when there were a lot of young adults around, a bit too loud and rowdy for my taste.

Review 131:I enjoyed that it was not too central, some people want to be near the night life etc. but its nice to always be a bit away from it all. During the day there is a free bus to the city centre and taxis are not too expensive e.g. 35 NIS per taxi journey. Within the hotel complex there is a great golf cart service which takes you to and from your room.

Review 132:- Dwellings are pretty old (somewhere repair obviously needed), - there were no toothbrush (even after we asked it at the reception twice, so we had to buy it ourselves...) - Supper is pretty expensive (about 140 NIS per man) taking into account that it contains NO drinks or beverages at all...) - Hotel has no its own beach, so you need to go about 400-500 meters and pay for deck-chears every time (not too expensive, about 30 NIS)

Review 133:Great location (coral beach, rather far from town). Good split system (its possible to set +16 inside :))) and your room will be like a fridge ). Kind of chill out location. Thailand-style facilities. Comfortable room (we lived in Siam) very cozy and large bed, new and clean bed-clothes. Breakfast is good enough. Compare to other hotels in Eilat - this hotel is pretty good choice. There is Oceanarium is near the hotel (visit it once). Hotel located in a very quite place.

Review 134:Seemed to be a little understaffed so customer service was a bit chaotic. They do their best though given how many people they have on site.

Review 135:Location is great as it is away from the craziness of downtown Eilat. Tucked away in a corner not far from the city but close enough to some amazing coral reefs.
