Reviews for Hostellerie Du Cheval Blanc
Review 1:The hotel is located about 4 km to Shuttle to Pila (10€ taxi and no hotel service to the shuttle) and over 1 km to city center despite what they write in the discription. Rooms are partly cleaned (there was lots of dust under our bed and spider net in the other room). Wi-fi was slow and hardly reached our room. No warm food and vegetables during breakfast - only sweet staff. What shocked us is that during New Year dinner they left dirty cutlery on the table cloth and did not change them even once (though there were over 5 dishes). The hotel is dog friendly (big owners dogs run over the floors during the night) but toddler bed cost extra and was fixed with sticky tape. And if you desire to write to the hotel, use Italian as they simply ignored our letters in English till we messaged in Italian. No room to dry ski equipment.
Review 2:Among the staff one waiter was really great and helped us with our specific requests regarding food for a toddler.
Review 3:Could be cleaner and Wi Fi faster
Review 4:There was a small SPA open long hours. Location not in the centre, but walking distance. Children allowed in all arias. Parking.
Review 5:The hotel’s ski room is not heated, so ski boots will not dry. There is no heating place/radiator in room neither. So there is no place to dry swimsuits or gloves (unless you put them on refrigerator…). There is no ski bus to Pila lift, so you need a car. The hotel is far from Pila ski lift: it is about 5 minutes by car, 40 minutes by foot. The hotel is outside old town: it is nice ale Mexican style pizzeria 5 minutes nearby, other places to eat is about 20 minutes by foot to old town. The hotel accepts pets. Lucky you if you come with your own dog. But unlucky you if your neighbor have a dog, and they went for dinner leaving a dog alone in the room and he is barking for 3 hours….Wifi is very slow
Review 6:The hotel has 2 saunas and very nice pool with temperature of 32 degrees, so children can enjoy it and do not freeze. The garage is very convenient on winter time. Beds are king size and very comfortable. Nice mountain view from the window. The good thing is: parking near Pila ski lift is free. And a very friendly ski rent is near Pila lift. This ski rent place allows to leave skis and boots free of charge over the night without any additional charge in their premises: and they dry the ski boots
Review 7:The Hostellerie is a modern, comfortable hotel well situated for exploring the Vallee D'Aosta. It isn't right in the main downtown, but not a far walk. The breakfast is very good. But the young staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful, really going out of their way to help make our stay better with information, reservations, keeping our luggage etc. Really went above and beyond. Highly recommended.
Review 8:The coffee machine caused queues in the morning. Just straight filter coffee served to the table would be fine.
Review 9:The hotel was clean and beds were made promptly every day. The breakfast was good with plenty on offer.
Review 10:Worn out furniture in room, very poor bathroom maintenance (broken shower support, ridiculous handshower without top shower head, shabby fittings), no provided bathrobes even if there's a spa in house, lots of stuff but low quality breakfast buffet
Review 11:The room view on the mountains.. quite big room, free parking, nice guy at reception
Review 12:wifi was a bit intermittent especially in the bedroom
Review 13:A comfortable room especially for 4 adults and 1 small baby. Large and roomy with a lovely view of the mountains.
Review 14:We had to be out pretty early on our last day without any warning -it would have been nice for it to be a little later but nothing to spoil a stay.
Review 15:Good location , recently modernised, staff very nice
Review 16:Not a four star breakfast. Only one type of (white) bread and very little variation and selection of food. No real juice. Hotel is in the outskirts of Aosta centre.
Review 17:Nice rooms and outdoor pool. Free parking
Review 18:Wifi could be better. When we were in our room, there was no signal, except next to the door.
Review 19:The guy at the reception was very helpfull. We asked for the best restaurant in town and it was spot on. He was helped us with sightseeing tips and could even give advice on our trip the Grand Paradiso. Room was very nice. Location is good, walking distance from the city center.
Review 20:Breakfast was really bad. Not an assortment of breads and really who serves cake and pie on a breakfast table. Felt like leftovers. No meat or eggs. Just really sad as this is a good hotel.
Review 21:it was in a good area and parking was easy. Vey good access to the autobahn.
Review 22:Poor breakfast. Poor selection in the frigo bar. Shower not practical and limescale.
Review 23:Rooms are clean. The staff is professional. Good position. Ideal for one night if you are travelling.
Review 24:Not a neighborhood feel to the surrounding area, however, it is not far from the center of Aosta.
Review 25:Impressive breakfast selection. Nice rooms and large bathrooms. Free parking and wifi.
Review 26:Noise, there were noisy kids running about and shouting whilst I stayed (says more about the parents than the hotel) and I could hear a lot of noise from the rooms either side of me but it didn't stop me sleeping but sound insulation is not great, hard to find as signage not great - don't let either of these put you off - a really good hotel.
Review 27:Stayed here en route to Milan, nice welcome, lovely warm pool, just a short stroll from town, clean and warm, great staff, good breakfast and plenty of parking, I highly recommend this hotel and will be back to spend more time in Aosta.
Review 28:Need to go to reception for robes and slippers for pool, swimming caps not available. Fridge in room did not work. An English language TV channel would be good (BBC news)
Review 29:Pool,
Review 30:The water in the pool and even in the "hot" tub was very cold, the sauna - a little warm (and it is in the middle of December!). Even after I complained, the problem was not solved the next day (except the sauna). I chose this expensive hotel not because of his beauty, but mainly because of the SPA facilities, in order to use them in the evening after a cold day. And it turned out to be a failure and disappointments.
Review 31:Very nice and clean hotel with special design, not far from the city center. Very kind and helpful personal.
Review 32:Hard pillows.
Review 33:Very clean hotel. Staff extremely helpful when we had to leave very early due to family accident - gave us takeaway breakfast. Nice indoor pool.
Review 34:Big, comfortable, quiet and clean rooms and bathrooms, comfortable full sized beds for kids, good access and parking from the main road and motorway, very friendly staff. Highly recommended for the price.
Review 35:Don't eat here! Staff very slow and only interested in Italian speaking visitors! Eat in town 10 minutes walk away. Breakfast very disappointing with very little choice and had to ask for bread. Tables uncleared and had to open drawers to find cutlery - but Italians got good service!
Review 36:They prepared wrong room. Some other family had same situation and we complained a lot. We changed room but charged normal price. They said 40euro additional but more. (Because they missed to count tax. Also they don't have city map, not so kind information so on,,,
Review 37:the hotel signage was not clear from the main road and we arrived late and in poor weather and passed its entrance 3 times before finding it by asking a local. we hadnt booked it so didnt really know what the building looked like but a clear sign on the main road with an arrow would have helped direct us in
Review 38:the hotel was a clean and pleasant place to stay after a long drive, staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 39:Excellent very helpful staff
Review 40:everything was up to our expectations
Review 41:we enjoyed our stay so much

Review 47:A gorgeous location just a short walk into town. The facilites were excellent.
Review 48:Very friendly staff
Review 49:Big spacious rooms. Nice pool
Review 50:the room was on the sunny side of the building and quit hot when we arrived because the curtains were not closed.
Review 51:all the food contains Sugar, all yogharts for example. first day we had to wait for 30 minutes before some breakfast has been served
Review 52:Poor breakfast after the rest of the residents devoured it
Review 53:Excellent staff and amenities
Review 54:We loved the breakfast! Staff were really friendly. Would've definitely book again.
Review 55:The hotel is very modern and lacks a bit of character
Review 56:Breakfast was poor
Review 57:Friendly and very helpful staff, room view
Review 58:Wifi in room did not work
Review 59:Location was perfect and friendly staff
Review 60:Only gripe; the toilet brush needed changing probably the most disgusting one I have encountered.
Review 61:Spacious well equipped room.Staff very friendly.
Review 62:location cleanness
Review 63:Could do with a refurb on room interior. Bit tired.
Review 64:Super comfy bed! Good shower!
Review 65:Breakfast too basic
Review 66:Inexperienced restaurant staff and unimaginative menu.
Review 67:Beautiful facility, all marble and wood.
Review 68:aircon did not work, impossible to sleep due to heat
Review 69:staff great, very clean.
Review 70:Air conditioner not very good.
Review 71:Friendly staff. Pool and spa.
Review 72:Gym facilities need maintenance.
Review 73:Great central location. Wonderful and helpful staff. Warm pool. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Review 74:Shame the sign was broken so we had no idea we were in fact in the right place and took a lot of time getting back to it again.
Review 75:Very comfortable hotel, good parking and lovely breakfast.
Review 76:Room was very hot with no air con, staff had zero English, room had cob webs and it appeared that it was not used for a very long time
Review 77:The House looks charming and has character. Nice river beside it
Review 78:Breakfast was poorly managed; lots of items ran out, unnoticed by the staff. A bit unkind to blame the hotel for the over eager and pushy guests, who descended on the buffet like a team of locusts.
Review 79:Hotel ambience, good car parking, not far from the town centre
Review 80:- There was a piano in the hotel which some bloke decides he can play at 6 am and wake everyone up - In the swimming pool one of the lights was coming out of its socket. This could be very very dangerous. If someone might kick it while swimming leading to a loose connection, everyone in the pool might get electrocuted - The breakfast spread was extremely poor additionally the service was very slow.
Review 81:Breakfast was a bit lame
Review 82:Staff were very friendly, location is good, bars, restaurants and shops nearby. Clean hotel with private parking and free wifi access from room.
Review 83:The carpets in our junior suite were being cleaned on the morning we arrived. They took a couple of days to dry and smelled strongly of the carpet cleaner. We got used to that and didn't complain but it would have been better if we had been allocated another room. We were skiing at Pila. The Hotel is a long way from the gondola ( NOT 600m as suggested in the hotel info) and our trip would have been impossible without a car.
Review 84:The Hotel was easy to find given that Aosta is NOT an easy place to navigate! It's bright and airy and generally matches with the web site pictures. We had a BandB deal. Breakfast was great, we ate dinner in the restaurant twice and it was just OK. The bar staff were V friendly and helpful. We liked the dog, a nice family touch but possibly not everyone's taste. Generally we enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Review 85:Very, very nice staff, specially Sandra, the owner, even smiling and atencious. Good localization, near to ski slopes and center of Chamonix. The restaurant has a good menu.
Review 86:Satellite TV did not function well / photograph of building is either old or misleading (where are the other buildings surrounding the hotel ?!) / Obligation to wear shower cap in swimming pool
Review 87:Extra large family bedroom (much appreciated) / No surprise / Quiet pool (at 7 am on a Sunday though)
Review 88:The staff were very helpful and friendly. It looks like they are renovating and its going to be a great hotel. Spacious rooms, enjoyed the balcony and a short walk to town. Quite nice.
Review 89:Breakfast not great. No bread except sweet Italian croissants. Juices out of pre packed bottles. We expected more.
Review 90:Good size room. Walk to the centre of town +/- 400m. Helpful receptionist. Good stop over.
Review 91:the whole set up, expensive for the noisy room, under my room windows workers made noise whole afternoon (until 7.30 pm), uncomfortable beds, dark in the bathroom, key ring weights about 1/2 kg, no hot water for the breakfast tea, staff nowhere to be found around
Review 92:nothing at all
Review 93:The breakfast could be enriched with fresh fruits or fresh orange jus.
Review 94:Very friendly and professional. Wonderful delightful bright rooms with an eye for design.
Review 95:No hot water in our room, and then also no hot water in the second room where they allowed us to use the bathroom. Pool area was a total mess, with many army young men lounging in the pool, making noise and drinking beer. Hot tub was not hot. Standing water all over the pool and exercise room floor area.
Review 96:Staff was very accommodating about the lack of hot water, and gave us a discount. We were also given a room upgrade (before we discovered there was no hot water), which was a very nice large room with plenty of space to repack our luggage.
Review 97:The hotel was very nice with super friendly staff at all times. We would definitely go back! It is located quite close (10 minute walk) to the city centre and also near to the highway leaving Aosta.
Review 98:you need an outside swimming pool and A solarium for people who want'S to get dark in A few days.
Review 99:your courtesy and the good dinner we had in your beautiful restaurant.
Review 100:This hotel is run by an Italian family and it is so at home feelingplace in spite that the hotel has a lot of rooms. They are allfriendly and kind. The building is modern and clean. Breakfast wasgood too. Big space for parking and big garden to walk dogs too. (Pets are allowed in this hotel) You need to walk to the center of thecity for more than 10 mins.
Review 101:I liked the courteous and helpful staff. They accepted my two large dogs at the hotel and made all of us feel welcome. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool. Parking was conveniently located in the hotel courtyard, right in front of main entrance.
Review 102:Breakfast isn't brilliant and the coffee is awful by Italian standards.
Review 103:We stayed for 1 night on the way home from our trip. The rooms are clean and a decent size. There is a indoor heated pool which is open until 8pm (although they allowed us to swim after the specified time!) Free underroof parking.
Review 104:Absolutely nothing except poor signage
Review 105:Everything, VFM, breakfast
Review 106:Uncomfortable beds
Review 107:Lack of visible hotel name on the outside - it took a while to find you
Review 108:Friendly staff
Review 109:Hotel exit is extremely dangerous. Something should be done to facilitate this because it creates a security hazard.
Review 110:Hard to find the hotel..!
Review 111:Very friendly staff; nice swimming pool; good varied breakfast
Review 112:the staff the underground parking for the motorbikes the standard of the hotel
Review 113:A bit hard to see the entrance. Pool closed at 8pm
Review 114:Linguistic capability of staff
Review 115:The hot tub should be hot and it would be perfect!
Review 116:Stairs down to reception could make it awkward for heavy cases. Wi-fishould be free
Review 117:Valle d'aosta hiking. Easy to drive to different hiking destinations.
Review 118:Easy reach. Nice hotel. Price. Well situated.
