Reviews for Connemara Sands
Review 1:Our accommodation was very clean and spacious. The staff went out of their way to be extremely helpful. They provided us with excellent food, when we arrived later than expected, helped us out with a puncture in the early hours of the morning and assisted us with directions to the airport.
Review 2:very helpful staff, cosy , intimate setting .. barman Cian was excellent, gave us an impromptu lesson in gin & whisky & rustled up lovely cocktails .
Review 3:In all the places I've ever stayed I have never experienced staff as friendly or more accommodating as they were in the Connemara Sands. Even down to the Manager who seemed to be everywhere & always asking were we ok or did we need anything. This to me is what hospitality in a hotel should be all about.
Review 4:Overall the food in the bar was excellent but I was a little disappointed with my scrambled eggs on both mornings, I suspect they were microwaved and seemed overcooked to me and had a distinctive grey colour about them. I thought the breakfast buffet was a little sparse.
Review 5:I liked the location, beautiful scenery, and right beside the beach. The hotel had obviously been recently refurbished as it was very colourful, clean and modern while at the same time blending in with the outdoors.
Review 6:Warm and friendly staff delivering excellent service. Comfortable on-site self catering houses and lovely bar food. Beautiful location with private beach,
Review 7:Bed was a little short. We are not tall but the bed seemed short in length
Review 8:Excellent Breakfast and evening meal Staff friendly and always willing to help. Very family orientated
Review 9:Party in residents bar continued late into night with plenty of noise Room had a smell of dampness During breakfast, mgmt were more concerned with taking pictures of the breakfast display than the customers
Review 10:Location is nice in heart of Connemara Staff were friendly Bar located about 1km down road is well worth a trip for food
Review 11:No negatives about the hotel. Would happily stay there again.
Review 12:Friendly staff who were very helpful. Excellent food - chef came out himself to check we were happy with the meal. Spacious modern accommodation with good views out into the Bay.
Review 13:Irresponsible dog owners. We had two toddlers with us and witnessed a dog owner allowing their pet to use the grass outside the house as a toilet. Also more cooking utensils in the house would be welcome.
Review 14:The location, standard of the accommodation and the friendliness of the staff. Also food in the bar was very good.
Review 15:Fire safety doors in bedrooms are noisy and dangerous for kids. Waitress at breakfast was quite unfriendly and abrupt.
Review 16:Good sized family room, child friendly facilities. Proximity to beaches is definite bonus. Best egg benedict we've ever had! Young lady at receptionist was very pleasant and so accommodating.
Review 17:We felt that the facilities provided did not correspond with the price, e.g. the full restaurant never opened for the week we visited. We had to settle for the bar menu every evening, even at the weekend. Advertising for the property was out of date, mentioning Sunday Roast and weekend openings of the restaurant.
Review 18:Private beach was excellent
Review 19:Not enough fresh fruit or home made brown bread for breakfast. Service a little on the slow side.
Review 20:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Views from our room and dining room out over the bay was breathtaking. Its proximity to Connemara Golf Club
Review 21:There seemed to be a problem with the actual running of the hotel, possibly due to difficulties in recruiting staff at certain levels.
Review 22:Staff excellent & extremely helpful, facilities v. good & the location was ideal .
Review 23:Very far from everything. Didn't know area so didn't realise when booking. My fault not hotels.:). Price when booking was for room so didn't like having to pay €30 per night extra for 17 yr old son. There was 4 single beds in room and only 3 of us staying. Bed was there anyway. That has put me off returning to that hotel. :(
Review 24:A lovely hotel if u want to go nowhere and just relax or go for walks in the beautiful suuroundings. Very quiet during night. No noise outside or within hotel.
Review 25:The comfort of the room was not ok. The noises from flushing toilets, shower and water tap make a constant noise in the whole building. The windows on the inside were sticky (not cleaned) and the rain pipe was dripping immensely. No privacy on the terrace (we had a stranger coming in at 10pm thinking that he could enter the hotel from the common terrace). Breakfast was included but not good (French toast was burned and buffet was limited). This hotel is new, but will soon be worn out as nobody is taking care of missing elements in the room (light missing in the bathroom, no light in the bedroom and TV remote control not functioning). Management is not there, I guess because we saw unexperienced young staff (temps?) but they were friendly but did not try to tackle the issues. For 160 euro per night you can expect more. Value for money : definitely not. We do not understand the positive comments from the other reviewers. A pity for us.
Review 26:Location is near the sea and has a large parking lot. Large appartment, although a small bedroom to allow a living room.
Review 27:I loved that the family room I booked was actually a suite with a sitting room, double bedroom and twin bedroom. I loved that we could use bikes to go for a cycle, the private beach was idyllic and the kids loved the tennis court. The dinner was delicious and very good value. We will be back! Thanks to the lovely friendly staff.
Review 28:No presence/evidence of management. The staff, though lovely and enthusiastic, lacked experience/training in certain areas. The restaurant was closed although it was fully booked on a Saturday night in June. Although we managed to get bar food, not everyone's experience was as positive and I felt sorry for the young staff left to deal with an irate guest. Management need to step up to the mark as this is a lovely hotel which if allowed to flounder, may not survive in the long run.
Review 29:The location is idyllic, the interior design is fab, family room(s) with sitting room really comfortable and great value for a group of four friends. The young staff were friendly and doing there best.
Review 30:This hotel looks well from the outside, but the room was small, the shower unit was totally unsafe there was no hand rails either inside or out considering you had to step up Iinto it. The shower had to be running for at least 10 mins for hot water. Three unwanted early morning calls on three mornings, fire alarm 7.15, high pitched noise at 06.30 and a water air lock in the next room at 8.30. No porridge one morning, even though it was on the menu and draught beer could not be replenished until the next day? We had to ask late afternoon for the room to be serviced. Bar menu had little choice. Which made the choice difficult when staying three nights. Our stay here was a total waste of money and made the start of our holiday very disappointing!! NO information at All in the room about the hotel or even the extension to contact reception!, what happens in an emergency situation?. We made our decision on this hotel with booking.coms ratings which we found to be totally incorrect.
Review 31:The beds were comfortable.
Review 32:Had to go find a tyre while my son found some seals down the beach. Was hoping to catch some waves as well. Will have to come back !
Review 33:Got a puncture on my motor bike needed a new tyre staff were very helpful in trying to find a place that could fit one .
Review 34:No bad experience but the manager needs to learn to meet and greet and stop standing around like a statue and speak to the guests
Review 35:Freshly cooked breakfast and fab homemade brown bread
Review 36:Brand new beds were a little stiff. Room door set to close automatically which caused some loud slamming in middle of the night.
Review 37:Beautiful location, great staff and pub.
Review 38:Heat not adjustable - it was freezing.. The 48 hr notice to cancel yourreservation also applies to making any change once you've alreadyarrived and stayed for a few days. Due to poor weather conditions, unfamiliar driving, and the fact that I do not drive at night, I wantedto cut my stay short by 2 days and get closer to Shannon airport. Theowner told me he required a 48 hr notice in order to provide anyreimbursement. So beware - the 48 hr notice is not just for making yourreservation. It applies to your entire stay. If any emergency comes up -good luck!
Review 39:Location remote but convenient for my purpose Staff was very friendlyand helpful. Breakfast good. Beachfront.
Review 40:Internal phones are not working, restaurant was closed on Sunday (in the middle of bank holiday weekend!). It would help, if the opening hours of the restaurant/bar/breakfast were given in the welcome pack.
Review 41:Location is perfect. if you want to get away in the wild, right on the sea. Staff is friendly and tries to help. Bar food is good, did not make it to restaurant.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Everything, including the surroundings, decor, food, and staff. Connemara Sands is a very beautiful hotel, which is in a magnificent location and has plenty of amenities. The food is excellent and the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 44:There were some teething problems in our room - the phones didn't work, the tvs weren't connected and the key card didn't work for a short time. They were sorted out very quickly though and with very good grace. The hotel is lovely - with very nice staff - and is only just starting out. I am sure these small issues (which didn't impact our stay) will be sorted out very soon and I wish them the very best of luck.
Review 45:The staff, the hotel facilities - the breakfast. The restaurant was also lovely (the service was a little slow) with beautiful, reasonably priced food. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Review 46:Couldn't ask for a better hotel experience. Staff were excellent at anticipating our requirements in advance and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended and will be returning.
Review 47:Wifi not available in larger family rooms. Price point at c €130 per room not reflecting of value. Double bed room size quite (very) small. Family rooms (holiday bungalows) good size but comfort and decoration need refreshing.
Review 48:Great location. Nice staff.
Review 49:We couldn't access the wifi, and we could have used some salt & pepper in the house as we hadn't taken any as normally condiments are available - but this is definitely not a major deal
Review 50:The house had nearly everything we needed and was very well done up
Review 51:The beach is amazing, the staff really friendly. We rented a house with a lot of space and walks on the beach were great. Most beautiful beaches in whole of Ireland, almost carribean
Review 52:The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of there way to recommend places to visit, the service in restaurent was excellent and We really enjoyed the quality of the food and the decor.
Review 53:location is fantastic, closed to pristine stretches of beaches. the recently opened hotel offers all the amenities and excellent cuisine. The staff is extremely friendly and keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. One of the best places I have been to in Ireland.
Review 54:No Wi-Fi for the holiday house. Sofa bed impossible to set up and no bedding. Downstairs heating out of order, except electric fireplace but it wasnt enough to warm up the liiving room and the kitchen.
Review 55:Beautiful private sandy beach after the tide was out. Stunning views. The staff was Vmvery friendly and helpful. Free Wi-Fi access was available throughout the hotel for guests. Minutes away from magnificent Kylemore Abbey and Connemara National Park.
