Reviews for Dun Ri Guesthouse
Review 1:I wasn't impressed with the clear glass window in the bathroom. This should be replaced with appropriate glass for a bathroom window.
Review 2:The location and comfortable rooms.
Review 3:It was a very nice guesthouse and the owner went way above his duty to be helpful. While out sightseeing, I sprained my ankle very badly. When we returned to the guesthouse, he promptly called his Dr and arranged for me to be seen. He then led the way in his car to the Dr 's office and helped me inside.. When we returned, he lent me crutches to use while there and fixed ice bags for my injury. I appreciated his kindness so very much.
Review 4:All was great Michael was very accommodating, our grandson loved Roxie, close to a fantastic restaurant "Guys" and Griffins Pub both recommended by Michael. Can't go wrong staying in Clifton for a night or two.
Review 5:It was all good. Don't let the building's rather drab exterior put you off
Review 6:Friendly staff in great location in Clifden with comfortable rooms with everything you need. Excellent breakfast with options like scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.
Review 7:Excellent location, just a couple of minutes walk to the town centre. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Convenient parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here.
Review 8:You can hear everything in the next room. People going to the toilet, having a shower, water running through the pipes. Lighting was bad in the bathroom. Be aware there are stairs to climb not that worried us.
Review 9:The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Rooms were very clean.
Review 10:Everythng about this place was great. Close to center of town, clean, comfortable and Michael was friendly and helpful on things to do in town. Loved our stay.
Review 11:Very friendly and welcoming host.He took care of my bike and had it back for me in the morning. The young lady serving breakfast was most pleasant and helpful.
Review 12:Wifi was weak in our room. Ok in public areas.
Review 13:We entered to a roaring fire with a dog in front of it. Beautiful welcome in from the rain. The owner was welcoming and efficient. Room was clean and bright. Ensuite was clean and welcoming. Breakfast was very good. Choice was excellent. Muesli, good natural yogurt, scrambled egg and anything I needed was delivered by a smiling waitress. Overall this is how a guesthouse should be run. Well done. Location is a short walk away form centre of town
Review 14:The bedroom was quite cold and the bed felt damp. The extractor fan system didn't work well when the shower was being used. The whole bedroom steamed up very easily.
Review 15:Excellent location, breakfast and very friendly staff.
Review 16:The building was lacking in character and charm
Review 17:It's a very basic accommodation but it was warm and the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly Central to the town of Cliften
Review 18:I booked Dun Ri Guesthouse based on reviews on Booking.com and was pleased with the accommodations. The staff was friendly, the room was very clean and attractively decorated. Breakfast offered more choices than other B&Bs. The location is easy walking distance to town center pubs and restaurants.
Review 19:This was our second stay at Dun Ri, and won't be the last. You couldn't ask for a nicer host. Very comfortable, spotless room and great location.
Review 20:I can't think of anything negative to say, it was a wonderful place and on my next trip I will spend all my nights at Dun Ri
Review 21:The location was very convenient. And the view from my window was pastoral. The host was very cordial and also didn't intrude
Review 22:This place was very similar to an actual hotel. Staff was wonderful. The place was very clean, and the room a good size. Breakfast was excellent. Great location with free parking. You could easily walk anywhere in town.
Review 23:Michael and Aileen were very helpful hosts. The breakfasts they served were excellent. The rooms were nicely decorated and the whole place was clean and neat. My room overlooked the paddocks for the Connemara Pony Show. The show wasn't on when I was there so the paddocks were occupied with sheep. A lovely bucolic scene.
Review 24:Dun Ri Guesthouse was easy to find, is centrally located in town and has great parking out front. The facility is exceptionally clean, comfortable and quiet. All the staff were nice and helpful. And the breakfast was fantastic. I hope to be able to return someday for a longer stay.
Review 25:Bath without mixer tap, and no flexible extender in the shower, it makes very difficult to kids to take a bath.
Review 26:Great breakfast Comfortable beds Run by a friendly family Heat system perfectly adjusted
Review 27:The wifi was free but we couldn't get a signal the whole time we were there.
Review 28:A great location 5 minutes walk from the town. Clean, comfortable room with good shower and facilities. Room kept warm during a chilly May and a lovely turf fire in the reception room.
Review 29:We arrived super early but the owner was very kind and accommodated us immediately. The location was phenomenal. Close to pubs, restaurants and stores. Short drive to the Connemara National Park and Kylemore Castle.
Review 30:issues with Internet as the guests changed the pages and difficult to get back onto English but not hotel's fault
Review 31:quiet room and comfy bed. good selection for breakfast and such friendly and helpful people running the place
Review 32:We were under pressure to leave by 8.30am & were assured breakfast would be served from 8am. However, breakfast room was still locked up at 8.10 & we were unable to avail of the breakfast (that we had paid for) as we had to leave by 8.30. Minimal apology guven
Review 33:I would have liked tea making facilities in the room or even on each floor. It was available in the lounge but I was on the 3rd floor.
Review 34:The comfort, and quality of the accommodation. The breakfasts especially the home made brown bread and its location.
Review 35:Dun Ri is a clean, comfortable and homely guesthouse. Michael and his family have provided that rare thing - an atmosphere of immediate homeliness. I was very impressed with Michael's conscientiousness and willingness to assist without imposing. The warm fire inside the door, the comfortable beds, the clean simple décor, the facilities, the lovely breakfasts all combine to make Dun Ri a place I will return to and which I would highly recommend.
Review 36:Friendly, family run B&B. Spacious, comfortable bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Good breakfast included to kick start two days of a Connemara location recce.
Review 37:nothing comes to mind
Review 38:Breakfast was cooked very well. The offer of more toast, coffee etc every morning. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable.l will stay here again.
Review 39:Beakfast was a little burnt but I still eat it !!! I felt it was a little bit expensive for a guest house, stayed in a hotel the night before with all the usual hotel facilities; pool, gym, bar etc for less money. But still enjoyed my stay there.
Review 40:location very central friendly room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Overall very good
Review 41:While there was a nice guest lounge area, I would also have liked to see an electric tea kettle in the room for brewing a late night cup of tea.
Review 42:Great location in Clifden for seeing the sites and walking to pubs/restaurants. Comfortable room, very clean, owners very friendly. Also breakfast was included in the price. Very homey atmosphere as peat fire burning when we arrived and a very friendly dog. Has a nice guest lounge area with tea, coffee, and biscuits.
Review 43:They tried hard with wifi boosters on each floor but it did not work in our room - we had to use the corridor or the public areas.
Review 44:We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the guest house and the great central location. it is in close proximity to the town and we were able to walk to nearby pubs for delicious meals. Rooms were very clean and a good size, the hosts very helpful and the breakfasts were great.
Review 45:Everything was great! Definitely recommend.
Review 46:-location -breakfast -view. We had a view of a horse lot and trees. It was lovely. -rooms were fantastic
Review 47:Booked room with twin beds and got a double and a single. The mattress on the single bed was too soft, and no good for people with bad backs.
Review 48:Friendly staff. Great choice at breakfast. Good location to see Clifden and area. Supermarkets close by.
Review 49:Bed throws-this is my personal dislike, no matter where I go. Don't understand the reason behind having these heavy, old covers on one end of the bed.
Review 50:location, right in the centre, but away from busy street. The room was absolutely spotless. The guesthouse has more of a hotel feel, which I loved (you have more privacy than in average guesthouse or B&B). Breakfast is also very good. We simply had a wonderful stay.
Review 51:Wi-Fi a bit sketchy. It kept cutting out in the room. I had to go to the lobby to get reception.
Review 52:Nice full Irish breakfast and lovely and helpful proprietor.
Review 53:Staff was personable, helpful and sincere Loved the room and available social room for tea and movies Breakfast was decent Walkable to many surrounding pubs
Review 54:We were offered a early breakfast because we had to hit the road before the normal schedule. Thank you. Fire in the hall after sunset. The tip on where to go in Clifden. The trad music in the pubs. Real Ireland as we dreamed it.
Review 55:No opportunity to talk with the other guests. Include more information on the surrounding area eg. local walks. Porridge could be a breakfast option, for those watching their cholesterol.!!!
Review 56:The accommodation and breakfast choices was all superb.
Review 57:problems with wifi reception - parking a bit tricky as some spaces were double parked so you felt a bit worried that if you took your car out you might not get a space when you got back
Review 58:family run hotel - friendly and helpful - good choice of breakfast - good location in town centre - loads of pubs and eating places and free live music in town
Review 59:We loved everything from the friendly hosts to the wonderful breakfast (which was included) to the lovely rooms. Everything was clean, comfortable and very homey. We loved our location, a few minutes walk to everything in town and the free parking - bonus!
Review 60:the price www had to pay for the surface we got was on the high side. Having been in the same trip in other B&B much more luxurious and comfortable the price was too high
Review 61:rooms cleanness, wifi, location, everything was good
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:On the basis that you go to a place with certain expectations, all of mine were matched or exceeded. Lovely place, close to the center of the town. Great breakfast as well. Strongly recommend.
Review 64:Breakfast was good, but choice very limited. A small thing, the breakfast staff were excellent, but because they were not Irish the whole breakfast experiece lacked the local touch that I am sure overses tourists are looking for.
Review 65:Location. Bright clean large bedroom. Friendliness
Review 66:The Wi Fi like most places finds it hard to cope when the traffic is busy. Not the road traffic, that is.
Review 67:Great facilities, excellent location and well appointed. Michael is very friendly and helpful.
Review 68:The breakfast was amazing! So many choices were offered and adjusted to individual preferences. The room was spotlessly clean and washclothes provided in the bath, which is very rare. Michael graciously offered a ride to the bus stop so I wouldn't have to walk with my luggage in the rain. Overall, lovely people - very kind, friendly, and attentive to needs of the guests. I also liked that the location was close and convenient to the city centre but down and away from traffic and noise. Very quiet and peaceful at night.
