Reviews for Gannon's Self-Catering Accomodation

Review 1:Everything was great

Review 2:Gannon's was a total surprise. It's a combination of B and B and self-catering-it all depends on east you want yourself. Lovely comfortable furnishings, great breakfast and the Gannon's and their staff were friendly, efficient and responsive to their guests

Review 3:It's a minor issue but our room was beside the kitchen. If you were hoping for a late start, activity can start early. The volume of music playing (while not loud) in the kitchen could be reduced a bit or maybe just the bass as that travels through to the room.

Review 4:The room was clean and very spacious. The people running the B&B were friendly and helpful, giving us recommendations of places to eat. The breakfast is a nice break from the traditional Irish breakfast; a buffet including celeals, fruit, meat and cheeses and other items.

Review 5:The most perfect location in Clifden. Lovely rooms. We stayed in the Pink room.. beautiful bathroom (not on-suite) but next door and own private bathroom. great living area. Gerry a nice guy.

Review 6:Weak wifi-signal in our rooms on the top floor.

Review 7:Reception, staff, location directly at town centre, fully equipped kitchen, excellent breakfast, surroundings etc., etc., Will definitely return to Clifden, two nights here wasn't enough at all..

Review 8:Everything. From the minute we arrived we could tell this was no ordinary B&B. We stayed on the top floor of the premises and were amazed to see that as well as our beautiful room with views right over Clifden Square, we also had our own living room and kitchen at our disposal. We didn't make as much use of this as we could've as we only stayed 2 nights but this would be of great benefit to anyone having a longer stay or travelling with young kids who didn't want to eat out every night. The whole building was immaculately furnished and had a real homely feel to it. Gerry was a very friendly and amiable host who was able to advise on places to eat & drink, be entertained and sights to see. You can tell a lot of hard work and love has gone into making this B&B a success and I doubt there can be a better place to stay in Clifden.

Review 9:Being centrally located on the town square was wonderful except at 5:30am on Monday morning when the garbage truck was outside picking up the trash.

Review 10:Jerry was a wonderful host. He went out of his way to insure we were comfortable and having a nice time in the area. The family bedrooms were perfect for our family of 4. Everyone slept very comfortably. We took advantage of the kitchen and tv room.

Review 11:Wish the towels were a little bigger.

Review 12:Spotless and everything new - Like staying in a luxury apartment and right in the centre of town. The host is also really good and the continental breakfast is vast - loved the homemade scones.

Review 13:The blinds could have been datker to block the light. Parking was chaotic.

Review 14:The hosts were great. Loved the freshly baked scones in the morning. Good selection for breakfast. Lovely decor. Nice homely touch.

Review 15:The breakfast was not the best. underwhelmed by it.

Review 16:The place was spotless The facilities were quite good. Excellent wifi The room was big, bright and spacious. Great location, right in the middle of town

Review 17:I would have loved a television in the room. But that's only a small thing. I still really enjoyed my stay.

Review 18:The couple running the b&b were very welcoming. The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. And the use of the kitchen was very convenient. The location was also amazing.

Review 19:Great location right in the town square. Wonderful staff - both girls working were so pleasant about everything and even did our laundry for us. Breakfast was good, and the conversation during breakfast with the staff was great. We stayed a second night because it was so nice. Very comfortable large, clean room.

Review 20:Nothing not to like.

Review 21:Gerry is a great host and gave us excellent advice on what to see and do in the area. The B&B is located right in the centre of Clifden (but is quiet at night), so there is good access to the many great bars and restaurants.

Review 22:The rooms were well appointed with nice furniture. The lounge/kitchen area was great and we were able to use it as and when. Best thing though was the free bike hire, great for exploring the stunning surrounding area.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:The house was top class-excellent location, beautifully presented, immaculate and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic weekend and would love to go back again.

Review 40:Very good welcome, thanks to the kindness of Gerry and his wife. Excellent breakfasts Comfortable rooms decorated tastefully.

Review 41:Not on suite bath for our two rooms, no wash clothes and no lift.

Review 42:Location, sitting area, bathroom size

Review 43:Loved it all.

Review 44:Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Gerry was so helpful and friendly.

Review 45:Loved staying here. Was modern, clean, roomy, and right in the center of the square. I would definitely stay again.

Review 46:Rain

Review 47:Great location , clean and good breakfast. Gerry and staff are very helpful.

Review 48:Friendly atmosphere, central location and helpful advice.

Review 49:Bit hard to find as the B & B isn't well sign posted.

Review 50:Centrally located, owner Gerry was very nice and accomodating.

Review 51:Everything was very good! very friendly staff! walk into the city centre 1/2 min! parking possible on the street in front of the house! was nice to stay here for 1 day! very big and lovely room with a good big bed! breakfast was handmade by gerry the staff and it was very good! we would be happy if we could stay longer...next time!

Review 52:Had difficulty locating the place as the sign is very small. The water system that comes on every time you use water is fairly loud.

Review 53:Beds comfortable, rooms very clean. Nicely located near the center of town so it easy to walk to restaurants and shops.

Review 54:Problems with toilet. Bedroom carpet old and stain.

Review 55:Good service. Very willing to provide food that I was able to eat with diet restrictions. Very kind to allow us to use laundry machine. Nice large living room and dining area. Overall nice place to stay.

Review 56:Excellent B&B, extremely clean & comfortable, great location, owner Gerry very helpful re places to eat & where to go for entertainment. Will definitely revisit.

Review 57:It was great having a kitchen and living room area; nice change from being "stuck" just in a room in the evening. Also, there is a washer and dryer(they even provided the detergent!) included in the rate. Gerry's wife even started a load for us and folded our clothes while we were at dinner. That's service! Very nice continental style breakfast; facility centrally located and clean. Would have loved to have spent more time in Clifden.

Review 58:At a push for something to say the lovely bed squeaked a bit.

Review 59:Gerry, the central location, the room, bathroom toiletries (sorry for inadvertently taking!)

Review 60:Spotlessly clean, bright and modern tasteful decor. Right in the centre of everything, Gerry was great host and gave us a great tip where to eat that night. Continental breakfast was a welcome break from fry up. Scones were lovely. Highly recommended.

Review 61:It was clean, modern, spacious and very central. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was amazing. They made homemade scones, pancakes and had many more food for choice. Definately would recomend this to anyone wanting to stay in Clifden. I would definately stay here again. The best B&B I have stayed in in Ireland.

Review 62:Superb B &B in the heart of Clifden. Gannon's IS hospitality at it!s best. Will definitely return again and have great pleasure recommending to family and friends. Gerry and Siobhan could not do any more to make one's stay as comfortable as possible.

Review 63:We didn't like that Gerry didn't invite us to move in permanently.

Review 64:We loved everything about it, but hesitate to shout it too loudly for fear it will be booked solid when we go back. Gerry, Ellen & staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. We've been to Clifden many times (in "castles", hotels & B&Bs) and were a bit surprised when we arrived because what you see is Gerry's sports shop, but once we got inside it was EXACTLY as presented on the website (which is not always the case). The furnishings (Gerry's bride is a gifted decorator) were exactly to our liking, homey & comfortable, and I'd like to have the kitchen in my own home. No fry for breakfast, but who can eat that every day? Nice selection of cereals, breads, juices, fruit, yogurt etcetera as well as cold meats & cheeses. Something for everyone, AND you can keep your own snacks & wine in the fridge to enjoy on the terrace. Cannot wait to go back with the whole family or a group of friends - two floors with rooms and separate kitchens could accommodate a crowd. The location is perfect for touring Connemara and for walking to the many pubs & restaurants in town - our local for the whole stay was Griffin's because David & David were so good to us & there was music every night.

Review 65:Lovely B&B right near the town square. The owners were very warm and welcoming. They had great recommendations for site seeing and dinner. We had a family room/two connecting rooms, on the top floor, with a shared bath. It included a lovely shared/fully stocked kitchen and living room for us to relax in after a long day of sightseeing. We could also have our morning coffee while the kids relaxed before breakfast. Our kids loved the bunk beds and having their own space. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 66:.....it was a plesant surprise, we enjoyed everything about this accomodation. Its an excellent location to base yourself for checking out all the wonderful beauty spots of Conemerra. Will definitely be back!

Review 67:I can think of nothing which didn't please us during our short visit.

Review 68:The people were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and had everything we wanted. The bed was very comfortable and altogether we had a very pleasant stay. We will certainly be back when we are in Connemara again.

Review 69:Nothing we liked it all

Review 70:From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and comfortable. We were given some good tips about places to eat and local sites that we probably wouldn't of seen without the advice. The rooms were incredibly clean and the beds really comfortable.

Review 71:The B&B is in a good location. The owner was really friendly and gave us recommendations where we could go for dinner etc. The rooms and living room/breakfast are really nice and homely.

Review 72:Great B&B with a very convenient location directly in the middle ofthe city center. Went there during the arts festival to run a halfmarathon and will hopefully be returning when we have more time.

Review 73:The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast had a good range of choices and staff were very helpful. The location was excellent as it was a 2 min walk to all the good restaurants and pubs. Parking outside in the street was free after 6pm to 11am - great. Clifden is a good stopover point for the Connemara circuit. We would have liked to have had several days there as the annual arts festival was in full swing.

Review 74:Excellent location. Great value for money. Spacious rooms....enough to swing a cat. Jerry and his family are great hosts and run a very clean b&b

Review 75:The proprietors were very friendly and greeted us on arrival. The standards were excellent and the facilities were very comfortable and welcoming. It was just very cosy and relaxing and the fire was very much a pleasure on the evening we arrived.

Review 76:We had a very warm reception from Gerry. Really kind. In stead of having two rooms we received a whole appartment which we appreciated a lot. Nice and cosy, clean and decorated with good taste. As the weather was not good that day we had a nice fire prepared by Gerry. I hope to go back and stay somewhat longer.

Review 77:Felt area was too hilly and roads to busy, narrow & risky to chance cycling but others may feel more adventurous.

Review 78:Loved the location, just beside many great restaurants and pubs so no need to drive & both could enjoy a drink in the evenings. Great location for driving to many parts of connamara with great mountain climbs and beach walks. Had a beautiful upstairs room with use of kitchen and sitting room with stove. Staff very friendly and helpful, a big thank you to Paula for the lovely breakfasts and all the advise ensuring we made the most of our stay in this beautiful part of Ireland.

Review 79:fantastic place to stay, very friendly reception couldn't do enough to help us plan our sighseeing to ensure we didn't miss a thing. Continental breakfast was amazing 5 star accommodation

Review 80:Very friendly owner and super clean, spacious and conveniently located b&b with good breakfast. There is use of kitchen if needed for tea etc and a fridge guests can use. Beds very comfy!

Review 81:We were absolutely delighted by the friendliness of Jerry. The room was perfect and the breakfast outstanding. We can really recommend Jerry's B&B in Clifden and we hope to spend our holiday again in your house.

Review 82:Nothing.

Review 83:*The welcome - we felt they were genuinely pleased to see us. *The breakfast - varied and very good quality produce. *The style of the place - contemporary with antique touches. * The location - middle of town and also very easy to get to lovely places in Connemara. *The place was spotlessly clean *Our hosts were warm, helpful and cheerful people.

Review 84:Noise from the main street can be a little intrusive.

Review 85:The staff were brilliant, the breakfast was great and the room, especially the bed, was really comfortable. There are loads of places to stay in Clifden but I think it would be difficult to find a nicer or more competitively priced B&B.

Review 86:No parking lot. Had to park on the street. No Kleenex available. Breakfast contained no eggs, bacon or sausages. No hot foods.

Review 87:BnB was right in the center of town. Room was clean. Staff was helpful.

Review 88:Loved it all!

Review 89:We absolutely loved our stay at Gannons's B&B. So much so that we stayed an extra night - eight nights in total. Lovely big quiet room at the back of the top floor apartment. We had an en suite bathroom and shared the living room/kitchen area. Really useful having use of the kitchen to make picnics and store things in the fridge. Gerry's sister looked after us while Gerry and his family were away. So kind and full of local knowledge. We met Gerry and Siobhan on the last day only - a lovely couple. Breakfasts were delicious - so good not to find the traditional 'fry' on the menu. This is a great base, in the small town of Clifden, from which to explore beautiful Connemara and we would definitely return.

Review 90:The breakfast, the confort of the room and other facilities, the central location in the city, the quality of reception, information and guidance of hosts.

Review 91:would be great to have ensuite bathrooms

Review 92:Staff were great, very friendly and informative and bedrooms and living rooms a good size. Would highly recommend it for anyone else.

Review 93:Fresh and enjoyable, lovely hosts really friendly. Real fresh feel to property although some people would like hot breakfast although we enjoyed the change.

Review 94:Would have liked the option of a cooked breakfast.

Review 95:Really nice B&B. Loved our room complete with sleigh bed. Great location in Clifden. Lovely hosts. Would definitely stay here again if in Clifden.

Review 96:Couldn't get in after a very long drive and at first glance looked tatty from outside above a shop!

Review 97:The bed was really comfy shower was good and breakfast light and nutritious

Review 98:Beautifully presented apartment. It was an absolute honour to stay here. Owners are very obliging. Great not to have to front up to a cooked breakfast.

Review 99:- nothing to complain about

Review 100:Pretty much liked everything. The Gannon B&B just exceeded all the expectations. Our hearts were sold when we arrived in the evening and the fireplace was on in the kitchen/living room and we could dry out our clothes next to the fireplace. We had a "family room": 1+1 room and bathroom for our only use on the corridor. The free use of kitchen/living room made our stay feel as it was our home. Practically we felt like we had the whole top floor on our use. The breakfast was perfect and even the special dietary was taken into account with a pre-notice (gluten-free). The owners are definately on the right business. What a lovely couple they are. Our children (8 & 11) just loved the place and gave 10 + points to the accomodation.

Review 101:Gerry was extremely helpful and kind, attentive to all of our questions and needs. The B&B's location is perfect: only a block's walk to pubs, restaurants, and shopping. Yet, at the same time, just a short drive, or walk, out of town and you are in the mountains of Connemara, or along the beaches of County Galway. Gerry gave us some good advice regarding where to find the best traditional music sessions. On our next trip, I will plan to stay there again.

Review 102:probably could get cheaper in the area but good value for the standard.

Review 103:Great location beside shops and cafes. More like a guest house than a B&B. Full use of guest kitchen and lounge to sit and have a cuppa. Family friendly and staff welcoming. Spotless.

Review 104:That we did not book more than 2 nights, wished we had reserved 4/5 days.

Review 105:Great Host, Jerry was very easy and friendly and his wife made the best scones we have ever had, anywhere, I have refused to eat a scone since we left. Great reaturants and pubs 1 block away. Loved the dining area and T V room, better than staying in one room, felt like we were home.

Review 106:Jerry was so helpful& friendly. Clifden was a quaint town with great pubs within a block walk, a modern grocery store and beautiful views on the drive in from Galway!

Review 107:Gerry is lovely - really helpful and friendly. The rooms are furnished beautifully and are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is lovely - with great crockery! I will be going back there again on our next visit.

Review 108:My family of four stayed with Gerry in early May for two days. He welcomed us on arrival and gave us a tour of our rooms. He was always around to answer our questions and really gave top notch customer service. The facilities were spotless the location in Clifden could not have been any more central. I would book Gannon's again without a second thought. Kudos to Gerry for running a great B and B!!!

Review 109:This is a very comfortable B&B, extremely clean and offering a super continental breakfast. The host, Gerry, built a fire for us upon our arrival. He was very friendly and we very much enjoyed talking with him.
