Reviews for Orange Tree

Review 1:The only drawback is the lack of a lift--it's quite a climb up to some of the rooms, but well worth it if you can handle the stairs.

Review 2:This is a lovely hotel--very reasonably priced for London, quiet and cozy, yet conveniently located across from the Richmond station. Excellent breakfast, good food in the pub, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 3:not the orange trees fault but the price of beer in that area is ruinous,Twice the price of where we live in wales. No lift could be a problem for some but i am sure the staff would help with luggage.

Review 4:the position was very good opposite the station in the middie of town.

Review 5:The bracket for the free moving shower head was loose so difficult to use, & the water could be hotter. Reported it to Reception

Review 6:Helpful staff, friendly bar, huge choice for breakfast, lovely room.

Review 7:Wished the breakfast had been available until 10.30 -11.00, seeing it was New Year's Day. But not really a problem.

Review 8:Last minute booking made on New Year's Eve, wasn't expecting too much but was very pleasantly surprised.

Review 9:A very comfortable, well furnished room with great facilities. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Hotel in a great location for travelling into central London and the breakfast was fantastic! :-)

Review 10:Beds quite narrow - room could take two larger beds. Room not ready until 14:50. Had cost of room blocked plus 15% "in case we had food or drinks"! Was told would take 2 days to unblock. Irritating to have to ring down for milk. Noisy fan in bathroom.

Review 11:Good location. Large room. Good shower. Good breakfast.

Review 12:Room was a bit chilly especially when I arrived, but staff were very helpful and managed to sort the heating out.

Review 13:Excellent location near Richmond station and a stone's throw from the heart of bustling Richmond itself. Very friendly staff. Clean, spacious room with lots of character and good facilities. Had some delicious meals in their cozy restaurant.

Review 14:breakfast was a shambles after arriving 40 minutes after ordering then a further 15 minute wait for the remainder of our party to receive theirs which was cold. Very, very noisy outside on the Saturday right through to about 3 int he morning with shouting and cars revving outside.

Review 15:location and decor

Review 16:Cooked breakfast a bit so-so not terrible but not great either - dried up. Heating wasn't working but a fan blower was provided.

Review 17:Beautifully designed room. Lots of space and the bathroom was stunning. Spotlessly clean and quiet - especially as over the flight path to Heathrow. Brilliant location

Review 18:This hotel is in a brilliant location. Walking distance to town, train and main car park. Lovely, friendly staff and great food! We had a double room located on the top floor. It was beautiful! Big comfy bed, roll top bath and plenty of space!

Review 19:No lift, we had a wheel chair which had to be carried up to our room however the staff did find somewhere to store it downstairs.Still this hotel not suitable for disabled, a stair lift could easily solve the problem.

Review 20:Friendly helpful staff

Review 21:some confusion around breakfast time for residents which, was a little embarrassing.. Queues for drinks at bar in the evening, didn't seem enough bar staff

Review 22:Loved it, beautiful room and adored the bath :)

Review 23:There was a problem with the air con in our room but the staff upgraded us to a better suite. Instead of messing around trying to fix it and getting in the way of our private time. Not a bad thing at all. Was handled professionally and quickly.

Review 24:Staff were extremely polite and took really good care of us. The chef even made us an amazing cake for my girlfriends birthday free of charge. Food was awesome. Rooms were beautiful.

Review 25:A real treasure. Well situated over the road from the station and close to Richmond Green. The room was very individual, great sound proofing so no noise from the busy bar or the traffic. A treat to find a nespresso machine in the room with a choice of capsules. The staff were great and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended and I hope to come back for longer next time.

Review 26:The hotel is near to Richmond train station. It has one of the most comfortable beds that I have had in a hotel! It's a proper kingsize bed, not 2 singles pushed together. Our room at the back is lovely and quiet; we were totally undisturbed by revellers at the popular pub downstairs. The shower room is big and modern with an array of toiletries (including a big jar containing cotton buds) and complimentary drinks, including a trendy coffee machine. Although the hotel has no carpark there is an NCP car park next to the station. I wish I could stay for more than 1 night - maybe another time!

Review 27:There is no lift so would be a problem if you find it difficult climbing stairs.

Review 28:Room was wonderful and big. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Close to all the shops of Richmond and the super restaurant Carluccio's. Lovely walks down by the river and close to railway station to catch a train straight into the London - it was great!!

Review 29:Nothing.

Review 30:First time to stay in a pub hotel and this did not disappoint. The boutique bedrooms were all different and ours was just lovely. Located near the NCP car park and train station. Staff friendly and lovely atmosphere. Met up with friends from Australia and that was the icing on the cake. Amazing time.

Review 31:The hotel is on the flight path and even our earplugs couldn't drown out the noise from planes. Was woken a few times in the night by banging doors.

Review 32:The room itself was large and clean with a good sized bathroom (2 sinks) and the decor was tasteful. Great to have a coffee machine and loved the Tea Pigs tea bags. Very friendly staff at breakfast and lots of options. Good value for London and close to the station. Sky TV in rooms.

Review 33:A bit noisy at night, but that's okay because the location was so fabulous.

Review 34:Amazing beds!!! Among the most comfortable we have ever slept in! Location was also ideal as there were lots of local pubs and great shopping, all within walking distance.

Review 35:The decor of the hotel and the bedroom was beautiful. The orange theme running throughout was delightful. The location was ideal just a 2 minute walk from the tube station. The breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Review 36:NOTHING!

Review 37:The staff were superb and very friendly, great welcome, hospitality, bedroom, food, excellent place that made the rugby world cup weekend a real gem.

Review 38:This is being really picky but the mini Fridge in room they told us wasn't cold enough for milk. You could ring down to reception for milk which we did and it was fresh milk so fantastic and howl deserves 5 stars for that. I hate the long life pots they normally have when staying in hotels

Review 39:Location great, Train station just across the road

Review 40:Absolutely nothing!!'

Review 41:If anyone wants to stop off at in the hip town of Richmond (and I can assure you, you do) make sure to book at the Orange Tree! My daughter (12) and I got off the train from Brighton and with our trailing bags behind us walked into THE most cozy, clean well decorated and most comfortable hotel. The gal at the front desk was so polite and hospitable, the food is scrumptious and next time we go we will be staying much longer!

Review 42:Road noise (but it is London) Airconditioining with a mind of its own

Review 43:Location opposite richmond station. Fair price for London Very comforatble room

Review 44:A few minutes walk to a sensibly priced car park.

Review 45:Lovely room beautifully decorated and in a great location for a reasonable price. Busy bar downstairs but quiet and peaceful upstairs.

Review 46:Great location across the road from the station. Easy walk to the Greene and River Thames. Room and bathroom big and comfortable. Good breakfast in the homely pub which has also good food and plenty of good beers to choose from.

Review 47:Noise from aircraft overhead and noise from the people in the bar below our room. We weren't aware of a charge for our children's breakfast - until we were checking out. ( when booked, we were told that breakfast was included). This was, however, waived by the hotel due to the misunderstanding.

Review 48:Lovely, good sized room. Very comfortable and furnished to a high standard.

Review 49:You need a lot of time for the breakfast. ... This is the only 'negative' point. Though the breakfast is very good.

Review 50:A great experience with lovely rooms, wonderful staff and excellent facilities.

Review 51:If anything the room was just a bit small and the shower could be a bit more powerful.

Review 52:Great hotel, lovely clean room, huge bathroom and fab staff who were very helpful, also with a smile.

Review 53:no parking our room was small no lift Failure to pass on requests eg for late check-out

Review 54:beautifully appointed - although shower knob fell off - room 8 breakfast and staff fantastic perfect location

Review 55:Street noise in the rooms overlooking the high street.

Review 56:The interior setup and design from the bar downstairs all the way up to the rooms is beautiful, high quality and very well maintained. The only thing i will change for our next visit is try to book a room opposite the high street side which can get noisy throughout the night and the early hours of the morning with passing buses, cars, motorcycles etc.. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. It is a comfortable, beautiful and high quality friendly place.

Review 57:This was a lovely place to stay in Richmond. Its location was perfect. The rooms were very tastefully designed and furnished. The staff were friendly and very obliging when we needed a larger room to allow for an extra adult to stay with us at very short notice.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:We liked everything! Everything in the rooms was top quality, rooms immaculate and we couldn't have been more impressed with the Orange Tree.

Review 60:Our room was a little small with an outlook over extractor fans. Would be claustrophobic for more than a night.

Review 61:Staff were fabulous could not have done more for us. The pub itself was quirky and cosy. Little touches in he room like an nespresso machine were nice too.

Review 62:Air conditioning unit outside our bedroom window so noise all night, and I had requested a quiet room, I felt I could have been contacted explaining they had no quiet rooms then I could have booked another hotel.

Review 63:Friendly and efficient staff.

Review 64:BRILLIANT LOCATION,NEVER BEEN TO RICHMOND BEFORE AND SO LOVED IT,V BUSY WEEKEND, THE ROOM WAS SUPERB, WHAT A BED!!!!!!!...GREAT ROOM AND HOTEL....MOST IMPRESSED THANKYOU XX

Review 65:My husband and I stayed here for his birthday treat as we were going to Kew the Music. The room was amazing (we had room 11), the location is ideal (if a little noisy from the planes overhead, but that didn't ruin our stay). The staff were friendly. The food was great and I would highly recommend it!

Review 66:The staff were extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable and I appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities. Perfect location by the train station and near Heathrow and Kew garden.

Review 67:No parking - had to move the car in the multi-story by 8.00 am or face a hefty charge. I think breakfast should have been included in the price. There were no biscuits with the coffee/tea in the room.

Review 68:The room was tastefully decorated and spacious

Review 69:Nothing as long as climbing stairs is OK.

Review 70:The rooms are very comfortable, and Richmond is a great day in itself for spending a day or so. Breakfast has a wide range of choices. Staff excellent.

Review 71:Room 2 rather bijou and up 2 flights stairs, no lift!

Review 72:Super comfortable room with high quality towels and linen. Tea making facilities, fridge and huge walk in shower.

Review 73:No, only the frequency of the planes spoilt things and we were on heath rows flight path after all!

Review 74:Everything was very good. The rail and bus services were very convenient

Review 75:No lift so if climbing stairs is not your thing then try somewhere else as rooms are over 3 floors. Noise from extractor fans at back of the hotel could be intrusive to some late at night.

Review 76:In a good location just yards from the train station. Faced onto a busy road but did not impact on the room at all. Appears to have been recently refurbished. Staff were really helpful.

Review 77:breakfast included to the accomodation offered only croissants and muesli. no hot food...

Review 78:Brenda and Alex (reception ladies) were extremely helpful with my booking (which appeared to be incorrect). The room in the end was amazing, comfortable, well isolated! i will definitely come back!

Review 79:Bad service at breakfast, only one of the two of us receiving a meal. When drawn to their attention, delay in receiving second meal.

Review 80:Service at reception, and dinner, plus very convenient location.

Review 81:Stairs an experienced mountaineer might find daunting. Cleaning might be better (last guest's empty pill packet still on mantle-piece.) A bit noisy.

Review 82:Very close to Richmond station Great TV with Sky movies and sports included Good breakfast Attentive staff Comfortable bed Rooms with personality

Review 83:I was not told at check in that breakfast was included. Only at checkout! Both mornings I went to nearby cafés which cost an additional £24 for 2 meals. Saving this would of added to the value of stay. Disappointed with this but otherwise a lovely place.

Review 84:Location!

Review 85:The room we had was spacious, clean and with excellent facilities including a very good bed. An excellent breakfast was included and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Review 86:Had to wait a while to check in. The receptionist was showing another guest to their room and none of the other staff in the pub seemed able to cover.

Review 87:Great location. Stylish room with a very comfortable bed and lovely facilities. Breakfast delicious.

Review 88:The bathroom was beautiful. But there was a problem with the electric feed that powered the lights for the room, thus making putting on make-up an impossibility. The staff was kind enough to have us switch to another room. Alas, my travel companion insisted on staying in that room because of the spacious bathtub. they then offered for us to use the other room for getting ready in the mornings. We found that the closet had a full length mirror with adequate lighting, so we did not need to accept their kind offer. Guess this really doesn't go in the didn't like column, but hey, I already typed this in this column.

Review 89:Location. Would definitely go back again.

Review 90:The stairs.. no lift and two flights of steep stairs to climb.we had a front facing room and was very noisey till late into the night.. lots of traffic noise as faces the main High street. However would go back if a room at the rear..

Review 91:The room was very clean and comfortable with everything you will need.even milk for your tea..staff were very helpful and polite.

Review 92:The only reason not to stay here is if stairs are a concern. The staff were very helpful with getting luggage up and down the stairs, however.

Review 93:Very convenient location, practically right across from Richmond Station (especially convenient if you use the step-free route to the right after you come through the barrier in the station). Beautifully decorated, comfortable room, gorgeous en suite, great A/C, amazingly quiet. Very helpful. friendly staff. If this hotel had a lift, it would be perfect!

Review 94:It was a pity that having let the hotel know via 'special requests' that I needed to follow a gluten free diet, that the staff weren't aware and this limited my breakfast options. However, the waiting staff and the chef did their best to find something suitable for me.

Review 95:The staff on arrival were very polite and friendly. The hotel room was very well appointed and very spacious.

Review 96:No bath and the overhead shower, it looks good but is not functional. I needed not to get my hair wet so had to use the hand shower instead which is feeble and substandard so I got cold, which is not good enough for the price. The stairs are steep which made it quite a trek to the top where my room was and too much for me.

Review 97:The bed and bedding was superb, sky TV on a decent sized television was an appreciated luxury.

Review 98:location, room and bathroom size is very good. Staff friendly and helpful. They were happy for us to leave our bags prior to check in and were taken to our room for us.

Review 99:Really nothing worth writing about.

Review 100:The comfy beds, great bathroom, lovely staff. The location was great. A lot of thought has gone into the decor and facilities.

Review 101:Three flights of twisty stairs to get to the room! Glad I didn't have a large or heavy case with me.

Review 102:Beautifully decorated room, with a comfortable bed, windows I could open, and a Nespresso machine.

Review 103:Huge crowd of drunken Rugby fans occupying pub all evening when we intended to have a quiet drink. No place to stop with car to offload luggage. Double yellow lines everywhere outside hotel. Had to leave luggage on pavement outside hotel to carry suitcases one by one up to room. Very impractical if you're on your own arriving by car.

Review 104:Rooms very comfortable and newly renovated.

Review 105:nothing bad worthy of note.

Review 106:Fantastic room, friendly staff and a great location. Do not be put off with this being at some weekends a very busy rugby pub, as you have your own separate guest side entrance and we on the first floor heard nothing and I am a very light sleeper. If, of course you like a good rugby atmosphere then even better. The morning afterwards the pub is spotless and you would have no idea of the previous nights packed bar.

Review 107:Stay spoilt by Noise of Traffic, breakfast took ages and was poor. Overpriced in relation to other hotels in the area.

Review 108:room was excellent, had everything and more, bed really comfortable, full Sky TV, good location and friendly staff.

Review 109:Our room had a big fan outside the window so sounded like we were on a plane at night, once we told reception they said they'd warn future guests, they also gave us a complimentary breakfast to apologise so really great customer service.

Review 110:really loved how the room was decorated, the room was immaculate and had everything we needed the receptionist was really nice too

Review 111:Not really bad, but it was a shame that there was only one ordinary tea bag and not quite enough milk in the fridge

Review 112:The decor was very sumptuous and we particularly liked the bathroom

Review 113:Tv is worked by SKY dish and was temperamental to say the least.

Review 114:Great buzzy atmosphere but the room was quiet so had good nights sleep. Decor modern and clean. Facilities in room excellent. Meal in the restaurant was very good and very good value for money.

Review 115:One slight niggle - the coiled cable on the hair dryer was a bit short which made it difficult to style my hair and look in the mirror at the same time.

Review 116:Loved the bedroom design (Kew Garden Room) and the super big shower room. Very comfortable - nice bed linen, luxurious towels and complimentary bathroom toiletries. This room faces the main road but it was surprisingly quiet.

Review 117:There is no lift in the hotel, but staff supported me with my suitcase up and down

Review 118:My superiour room n 12 on the last floor was very comfortable, clean and cosy, three windows with the view on city, from one of which you can watch the planes coming out from Heatrow just under the church in front of the hotel. But noise from the planes was not disturbing. This hotel has a very convinient location. 20 minutes by taxi or 1 hour by boat to Hampton Court, 15 minutes walk to The Kew Gardens, and around 30-40 minutes by underground to the centre of London , direct district green underground line. Richmond is a nice town, where you can find many restaurants, see the places of interest mentioned above, do some shopping and walk along the Thames embankment, I enjoyed my staying in Orange tree.

Review 119:There was no lift, and no one to assist us with carrying our luggage up narrow stairs. In the morning, we had to catch a flight back home, and the man in charge checked us out and fixed us coffee. He was quite helpful and friendly.

Review 120:We loved the charming, old-fashioned look of the pub with lovely rooms upstairs. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Review 121:I didnt like the fact you had to exit/entrance through the bar. Also, the toilet wasnt spotless and at the base of the shower door there was either limescale or dirt - it should be perfect for the price. The size of the room (compact) wasnt reflected in the price. One afternoon the chambermaid came into the room after knocking not waiting for reply - i was napping so was really annoyed as she should have replenished milk etc when the room was serviced earlier. They returned the morning of departure even though i hadnt checked out at that point so felt pressured to leave!!

Review 122:nice features of the room e.g. the decor. The room had everything you would normally need during a break. A good location for the tube and buses as well as the shops and kew gardens within walking distance. Breakfast was ok - plenty to eat and well-presented.

Review 123:Beautiful room - excellent attention to detail down to the quality of the toilet paper!! Richmond is a lovely location with easy access to the tube for exploration further afield.

Review 124:1) The fact that the room was not ready on arrival at 3pm. However, this was rectified very quickly while I had a complimentary pot of tea in the bar. 2) The fact that I had to ask for a cereal bowl every morning as there were none on the breakfast bar.

Review 125:The comfortable room with excellent facilities. The very good selection and excellence of breakfast. The helpfulness of the staff.

Review 126:The only thing I can think of is that there was no lift, but in rooms added to a pub this wouldn't be a reasonable thing to expect. There weren't many stairs.

Review 127:A recent extension to a nice pub, whoever did the work has got just about everything right. Despite being in the best possible position in Richmond (virtually opposite the station and on the high street), the room manages to be quiet. It's not often a hotel gets just about everything right: Nespresso machine, fantastic, genuinely friendly service, huge comfortable bed, Sky TV, lots of space, fridge, free milk each day, fast wi-fi ... very impressive.

Review 128:Slow service and the breakfast was average but they did give a discount as it took so long to come. Not enough staff to serve.

Review 129:Lovely room - Comfortable bed and tea and coffee facilities really good

Review 130:When we went down for our meal the bar area was very noisy and busy so our meal was a bit rowdy.

Review 131:Loved the decor. Staff were fab, very attentive, helpful, friendly. Food was amazing

Review 132:The only negative part of our stay was a very bright, green pilot light which remained on above the entrance to the bathroom all night. Since we are not accustomed to sleeping in such brightly-lit rooms, this did unfortunately negatively affect the quality of our sleep. A shame, and completely unnecessary.

Review 133:The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good, especially the breakfast. We asked for a quiet room, which we were given and the large bathroom with fantastic shower, decor and small touches were much appreciated.

Review 134:Nothing at all.

Review 135:Nothing to fault. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left - just perfect. The rugby weekend just added to a vibrant atmosphere in the bar. I'll add that as accommodation providers down on Exmoor in Devon we reckon we know a good place when we find one.

Review 136:the porridge at breakfast was awful

Review 137:location- walking distance to train and hight and Kew gardens and the Thames Nespresso coffee machine in room, quality of furnishings , styling, quality rooms

The Fine Print

Please note: There is no lift at this 3-floor property.
