Reviews for Desert View Apartments

Review 1:I found this accommodation to be excellent! Quiet, friendly and very comfortable. Different style being underground but thoroughly my stay. Highly recommended

Review 2:The decor is very aged however it is clean and comfortable and extremely spacious! The kids loved the pool ,play area and the little dog! We will definitely stay here again :)

Review 3:This was a really spacious and well fitted out two bedroom apartment. It was more than I needed but would be great for a family travelling. The staff were really friendly and helpful and I had a great night sleep.

Review 4:quiet very spacious we had the 3 bedroom apartment, the fridge died yet the lady was very helpful and stored our food overnight. we stayed there on the way up to the NT and stayed again on the way back. We were also lucky to have a stunning sky show too

Review 5:The overall feel, as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. We stayed on route to Uluru, then returned on our homeward journey. A big thank you to Tony & Linda for making our stay a good one.

Review 6:It was quite warm in the rooms and it wasn't too hot outside. Would've been good to have air con, especially in the Coober Pedy heat. Didn't like how there was drinking of alcohol just outside the rooms, it made me uncomfortable.

Review 7:Quite large.

Review 8:Being told they were full when we walked in the door, how could we have booked online, then being offer two different types of rooms.

Review 9:Being able to book online

Review 10:Everything was fine. However, there was no shampoo in the bathroom.

Review 11:The manager was so nice and warm. He accepted our request for check out late (two hours) whereas we did not notify him in advance.

Review 12:Villas not as spacious as photos appear. Rooms get hot without air conditioning (you can only run when in the room) wifi is a bit slow. Terrible water pressure.

Review 13:Relaxing environment. Lovely location, beautiful pool. Price is value for money, rooms clean, beds comfy. Staff polite and helpful.

Review 14:It was a long walk from the car park to the apartment and the instructions weren't very good which meant we were wandering around in the heat looking for our place. Better parking facilities would be appreciated

Review 15:Apartment was large, well equipped and in great condition. Very clean and very cool.

Review 16:The staff were friendly and helpful and pointed us in the right direction for sight seeing. The unit was very spacious and clean. The owners children were friendly as we're thier pets.

Review 17:The swimming pool which was a highlight on the notice board was in a very pool state and could not be used. It would have been better if we had been advised of this on checking in. Otherwise the place was satisfactory for our needs

Review 18:There was nothing that my kids and I could fault on this property and its staff.

Review 19:Property was exactly as advertised. I arrived about 11:30pm, property manager was still most welcoming. Would defiantly stay again and recommend to other travelers and families.

Review 20:The staff were very friendly and supplied us with whatever extras we needed such as wine glasses and long BBQ tongs etc nothing was too much trouble for them

Review 21:I had to clean th fridge and freezer before I could use them, most of the crockery was chipped, (glasses, plates and bowls). The plumbing was terrible in as much as the waste water from the kitchen sink came up through the shower and the shower took ages to drain. The layout of lounge/ kitchen, was wrong and when we took cushions from chairs to make the sofa more comfy, it was clear they hadn't been cleaned for some time as there were crumbs, nuts and goodness knows what on all the chairs under cushions!!

Review 22:Location was good, beautiful sunsets, manger helpful with information regarding tourist attractions

Review 23:far from it. No bad experiences, but a bit of a freshen up with a paint brush wouldn't go a miss. This place is another of Coober Pedy's gems.

Review 24:This is the second time we have stayed at the Desert View Apartments. This place has all the room needed to keep us comfortable. Large kitchen area that boasts full sized kitchen stove, full sized refrigerator, kitchen sink (Of course) spacious comfortable lounge area complete with flat screen TV. WiFi was a bit patchy. We have stayed at another underground motel in Coober Pedy for a lot more dollars with far less to offer. If we return you know where we will be going? Yep, you guessed it, The Desert View Apartments.

Review 25:Really needed a thorough clean including carpets, skirting boards etc.

Review 26:Good kitchen - including kitchen space, cupboards, appliances, toaster, fridge etc

Review 27:Not a bad experience, but the bathroom could do with a bit of an update.

Review 28:All we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. The apartment was roomy, with a good kitchen which was well equipped for staying a day or two.

Review 29:A small barking dog chasing after our motorcycles,\.

Review 30:The apartments are positioned on a hill, with a desert view, and are just outside the town, which I loved. Very quiet at night, and comfortable beds.

Review 31:free internet outside only but no other internet and really no view until you walked out of the property

Review 32:the quietness, the uniqueness, It was old furnishings but fairly comfortable.

Review 33:The owner used the verandah to store 'stuff' , there was a random piece of fake grass that was a huge trip hazard. Pool advertised but was half full and dirty. Facilities and decor dodgy and 70's ish. Furniture outdated and dirty. Bathroom creepy and you had to sidesaddle the toilet! Reception looks like something out of pricilla queen of the desert with fake flowers and othe kitsch decor.

Review 34:Sheets clean. Friendly check in chick. TV good.

Review 35:Car parking was very tight. Had to maneuver carefully to get the car in and then move it to load.

Review 36:Very spacious living area. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Very well equipped.

Review 37:it was good. as expected. value for $$

Review 38:such huge 'digs' we had two bedrooms and massive living and dining area. my friend booked next night and she and brother had the three bedroom. so much space but so cheap!

Review 39:The owner Tony cheerfully picked us up from the airport and then loaned us his car so we could go to a restaurant. All this was without additional charge. It doesn't get much better.

Review 40:Only thing I noticed, but wasn't affected by (as it wasn't summer) was the pool area - in poor state.

Review 41:I was very impressed by the size of the apartment Also no problem with the wi fi compared to other areas we had visited.Nothing

Review 42:Was unique place to stay underground. The owner was so friendly and obliging and went out of his way to arrange a local glass man to repair our windscreen.

Review 43:bathroom/toilet door did not close - some structural movement?

Review 44:Good quiet location, friendly helpful staff, come bed and a good sleep. Able to prepare own meals in kitchen.

Review 45:No bad experience, however the accommodation was a little stark all white, the natural walls looked better in another establishment that we visited.

Review 46:Was well located and spacious, close to town, could walk if required.

Review 47:Pillows were too tall for my taste.

Review 48:THe staff were excellent. Went over and above to help us with laundry, offering their facilities. I'd highly recommend this eco motel for budget travellers wanting cleanliness and the added bonus of an eco-considerate property. (rainwater tanks, eco building materials etc, arid garden plants etc)

Review 49:very nice apartment underground, very funny as the whole city. huge. well equipped to have breakfast. the wi-fi connection worked fine even in the flat.

Review 50:All of these underground motels in Coober Pedy are a little stuffy, but that goes with what it is. Not the fault of the owners/management!

Review 51:It was great, and Tony was extremely helpful in finding us another place for a second night. Splendid.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:The facilities are excellent and the staff are very freindly and accommodating Well located for the town centre and attractions of Coober Pedy

Review 54:There was nothing I could say I disliked.

Review 55:A great place, huge place. Perfect for a family or a couple of friends traveling together. Very quiet so you get plenty of rest.

Review 56:Nothing.

Review 57:Great to have laundry facilities at the end of a desert journey. Great to have access to multiple rooms for family and friends to sleep but still have privacy.

Review 58:The toilet was too close to the shower glass partition! The apartment aIso needed heating of some sort. Wifi doesn't work underground very well either :)

Review 59:The spacious apartment was very well laid out

Review 60:Our neighbours woke me up at 3.49 leaving their room, that was not the motels fault. The doors in the unit we stayed in this time kept sticking or wouldnt completley close. (The previous usit was perfect)

Review 61:Pet friendly Easy parking Safe location

Review 62:great place to stay the apartment was very clean and comfortable . great value for the money for a family or a group of friends. we would stay here again.

Review 63:WiFi unavoidably limited to front of apartment .

Review 64:Constant warmth and spaciousness of underground apartment most welcome. Pleasant outdoor verandah and garden area.Very suitable for self catering.

Review 65:The only criticism was that the bathroom was poorly lit and the very small mirror was to the side of the handbasin. This made it difficult for my partner when shaving and for me when inserting and removing contact lenses.

Review 66:The welcome we were given by the owner/manager was sincere and warm and the size of the apartment a real surprise. So lovely to be charged for a one bedroom apartment even though ours had two!

Review 67:Everything was all good. Nothing to dislike.

Review 68:All our needs were catered for. Welcoming reception. Great apartment with everything we needed. A "must do" experience living in a dugout home. Quiet. Great view of the desert too.

Review 69:Bathroom may need a bit more space to put toiletries but is basically equipped with hot water. There are 9 apartments to date but more may come in the future.

Review 70:Tony and Linda are very friendly. As it is a small family business, it can get quite busy and the best way to contact them would be email. Apartments fully equipped with kitchen and appliances, a comfortable living room with plenty of movie selections to borrow (from reception), wifi, bedrooms with fans and storage. Apartment has a constant 23 degrees which is comfortable and doesn't require extra heating. Rooms 8&9 are closer to the kids area and depending on your preference, you may want to stay/opt out these rooms.

Review 71:Staff gave me information on the area and were really nice Room was great Safe area wasn't worried about leaving my trailer unlocked Would highly recommend And the bed was massive and super comfy

Review 72:Appliances are a bit old. Given that the town isn't that close to a city this is understandable. Everything works

Review 73:Great experience to live under ground for the night. Location was great being on a a bit of a hill with a view. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly!

Review 74:Would be nice if the path from the carparking space to the room waspaved. Very minor inconvenience.

Review 75:Massive room, home away from home. Much cheaper than accommodation in alarge main street motel in town, bigger nicer rooms. Sensational viewsover the desert from the car park.

Review 76:Overall very good. Walls in bedroom could be a bit cleaner.

Review 77:Friendly staff, organised everything for us as we were arriving late. Clean and spacious rooms. They even showed us a menu for the local pizza resturant which is a 'must do' when in coober pedy. And the offer discount for those staying at this motel.

Review 78:perhaps underground accomm isn't quite the thing for travellers who must pack light. I found i kept having to have to make the trek back and forth from bedroom to bathroom etc. Also i found the room too warm to be able to get a good night's sleep. Maybe that's just me though.

Review 79:the hosts & their family (including pets!)

Review 80:Not really walkable from the town centre, given the heat and layout, whilst easily accessible with a vehicle.

Review 81:Great wi fi, comfortable bedrooms, relaxing stay.

Review 82:Pool water was super cold - maybe that would be a good thing on a 40 degree day.

Review 83:Great location, comfortable accommodation, felt like coming home after being there on two different occasions. Tony and Linda gave great advice on things in the town that made the stay more enjoyable. My children had an absolute ball, they cried when it was time to leave!

Review 84:Rooms lack a bit of atmosphere, but are underground. WiFi only courtyard or in the first meters of rooms.

Review 85:Nice appartements with enough beds to sleep five.

Review 86:the guests that complained about this place

Review 87:The Desert View Apartments was a stop over for our trip to Ayers Rock, the staff Tony & Linda are very welcoming, informative and friendly. We will recommend the Desert View Apartments to anyone that we know that is heading their way.

Review 88:Lots of flies & a few bugs, hot day-could be cooler in rooms, internet only in first metre of room, screen door needs repair.

Review 89:Space, king bed, two rooms, friendly Staff. Discount at Pizza shop.

Review 90:Friendly owners. Clean apartment. Good value for the price. Even has a swimming pool! Very helpful with local advice. Would be a good place to stay if exploring the town. We were only travelling through.
