Reviews for Agriturismo Mare e Monti
Review 1:Excellent location, great views, friendly & helpful staff, spacious room. We had a nice & relaxing stay (although it was short). Would definitely go back.
Review 2:We loved everything! The owners are so incredibly warm and welcoming, nothing was a problem. We were given a fab tour of their farm, which is organic. The food they provide is from their farm and it is delicious. The room was simple but really lovely, it is quiet, peaceful and the view was amazing. The location is good, there are direct bus routes to and from Agerola to Amalfi, or if you have a car even better. We had originally planned to leave for a night in Naples but we decided to stay one more night and Salvatore was kind enough to accommodate us, he even gave us a homemade marmalade and limoncello on our departure. I can't recommend the guesthouse and family highly enough ... we didn't want to leave and we will definitely return. Thank you so much to Silvio, Salvatore, Anna and your family for making our stay incredibly special.
Review 3:Unfortunately wi-fi didn't work great that day but I think they will fix it. It may happen
Review 4:The room with a wonderful view of Salerno gulf. The staff is excellent and the food is simple, genuine and made by their own
Review 5:Nothing special really!
Review 6:Great agriturismo in Agerola, beautiful view to the golf, nice breakfast & dinner, and most importantly lovely staff (family owned business)
Review 7:the personal is very friendly! as a goodbye present we got a lemoncello even! and we got the romantic room although we booked another! but because it was free they gave us the better room! dinner was excellent and everything fresh! i can only recommend this place in agerola and would definitely stay therw again! great views when u get the room with the balcony to the seaside! also a great spot to di a lot of walking paths!
Review 8:A little hard to find...but if you pay attention to the signs once you reach San Lazzaro, you are fine. I would not let this stop you from staying...the location was just what we wanted.
Review 9:Hosts were very accommodating and made our stay very comfortable. The food was excellent. The host/owner sent us away with heaps of their farm grown tomatoes, eggplant, homemade limoncello. It was a wonderful experience. Would recommend.
Review 10:- distance to sea (1 hour by bus)...
Review 11:- ...or a few hours by Path of the Gods :) - magnitude, breathtaking view - very hospitality family - amazing food and wine
Review 12:We had such a wonderful stay. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful! The food is delicious and the entire experience exceeded our expectations!
Review 13:Great stay! Very welcoming and generous owner. He let us explore his farm. Breakfast was very very good, but dinner was fabulous. Best mozzarella and bruschetta ever.
Review 14:A bit hard to find the location, but as soon as you are on the Main Street people know the location and there are arrows to show the way.
Review 15:The owners and staff where extremely helpful, kind and friendly. The food is from the farm, we had one of the best dinners in our stay in Italy, amalfi is a 30 min bus trip away, and there is a lot you can do in the agerola itself. Our room is simple but big and clean with Ac (which we didn't use) and a big balcony overlooking the ocean.
Review 16:The buses from San Lazarro are infrequent. This isn't a problem it just requires a bit of organisation - make sure you print off a timetable.
Review 17:The family were extremely welcoming and helpful. We ate on the terrace most nights looking down the mountain to the sea but the in house restaurant is extremely good. Most of the produce is grown on the farm and it shows!
Review 18:truely kind and generous family. the farm is too far from main road, seems close but actually 40 min. drive thro small roads. the room is too simple. dinner was really good actually, but other than that, i would not advise u to make an effort. there are much better hotels around for the same value.
Review 19:very kind and generous family. great dinner!
Review 20:The double bed is 2 singles pushed together and was the mattresses were quite uncomfortable.
Review 21:The minute we arrived we were treated like long lost family. Nothing was ever too much trouble and always over feed with the wonderful produce from the farm and delicious wine. The view is magnificent and the farm is warm, homely but still a professional restaurant and hotel. Silvio and his family are all delightful and we would love to back and stay again one day.
Review 22:We loved it but those who want to be 5-10 mins from the coast would not!
Review 23:This agriturismo is run by a charming, and very welcoming, extended family. It is high up above Amalfi ( takes quite a while to descend on a very winding road) and a world apart from the tourist packed, non stop coaches of the Amalfi coast. Our grandchildren played in the garden and visited all the animals being reared by the family on their small organic farm. The food the family prepared us was freshly prepared, mostly home grown and home made, and tasted delicious. The local village, a 10 minute walk, was delightful with amazing panoramic views over the coastline. Lots of wonderful walks directly from the agriturismo. A great little spot!
Review 24:Be careful along Almafi coast on Sundays- a lot of traffic, on narrow roads.
Review 25:Quaint little farm with friendly host and staff, very helpful & informative. Home made food. Family orientated.
Review 26:The mountain roads and narrow lanes in the whole area take a bit getting used to though they add to the fun too! It's also better out of season.
Review 27:Though we had to cancel our longer stay for personal reasons the owner couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. The location overlooking the sea was great and inspiring. The food was good home-cooked fare and good value. Very friendly extended family. Wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 28:Don't think that you will lay in bed after 8.30am, there are some noises that will wake you up (i.e chicken, dogs and kids probably)...no matter what, you are not in Amalfi to stay in bed! Internet does not work in the room, only in the private areas.
Review 29:The location is really good, despite you need to enjoy driving in small narrow roads, but it's like that everywhere in Amalfi coast anyway, you'll get used to. It's a short journey to go to Amalfi and even praiano or positano. Then, when you are back to the hotel after a big day out, you can ask for one of their good bottle of local wine that you can drink on your private balcony. The meals are really good as well. For example, we had some amazing homemade pastas and a really good steak and homemade French fries for dinner once. The dinner price was affordable. When we left the hotel, the staff gave us a full basket of fruits, vegetables and biscuits for our lunch. Really, this stay was amazing.
Review 30:It gets a bit smelly at time but then its a farm and they do the cooking there for you and themselves so expected.
Review 31:This is a fair well located farm house for people who want to experience the extraordinary. The personal involvement of Silvieo and his family gives it a 10 star level. Our car had a flat tyre 8-10 Km away. Silvieo came and took us to the farm in his own car and also arranged to fix the tyre and drive to his farm.Another day we lost way he again picked us in his car. We were 2 couples and they looked after us like family. Wish there were more people like them in the world.
Review 32:It would be good if there was a menu to let guests see the prices for dinner. This would give them the freedom to choose to eat at the farm or for cheaper in the village.
Review 33:We loved the location - it was a taste of rural Italian life - away from the busyness of Amalfi but close enough to enjoy day trips there. Sylvia and his family were very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed spending days on the farm relaxing - very peaceful. The food was delicious.
Review 34:*The manager kept telling me about my opinion to be written onbooking.com so many times, was a bit annoying, though he was doing hisbest to please me
Review 35:*Calm location away from touristic places up on the mountain, if youhave a car *helpful staff *good price
Review 36:The farm is very nice. Silvio and Anna are very good people. It is a family guesthouse and they take care of it very well. Dinner was also very good. Fair price and excellent quality. Highly recommended Katka and Tomas
Review 37:Mare e Monti is located in the mountains of Agerola and is a nice walk to some scenic views and a town area. Very close to the Amalfi Coast and Positano, this is an affordable place to stay considering the area you're in. The staff is very friendly and the farm is very charming. We really enjoyed the included breakfast, the fruit from their farm is incredible!
Review 38:Saying goodbye at the end of our stay, and the amount of weight that we put on.
Review 39:We liked the warm welcome we received and the rustic setting was a joy.The clean cool rooms where very restful .Best of all the delightful family hosts and Ann's wonderfull cooking. We had booked five nights and stayed Six.
Review 40:A bit noisy in the mornings when we wanted to sleep in but at least this got us making the most of our days.
Review 41:We loved our stay here. The host and his family were so welcoming and hospitable. The food (particularly the evening meals) was fantastic and there was so much of it! Anna is a fantastic cook. We even took home some delicious lemon marmalade and a kg of salami! There are several lovely walks close by and it's just a 30 minute drive to Amalfi. Highly recommended.
Review 42:Softer beds would be nice.
Review 43:Nice location with a beautiful view. Super friendly staff. Great dinners.
Review 44:A bit far from the other towns
Review 45:The family atmosphere and the excellent food
Review 46:Red frizzante and the amazing view All th food was delicious Hospitality from all the staff
Review 47:The experience
Review 48:Nothing! It was great fun.
Review 49:Loved it! Fabulous hosts, AMAZING food and great wine. Comfortable, spacious rooms.
Review 50:We had a great time there, very nice staff, very clean, excellent food and services.
Review 51:-Very good dinner and wine! -Friendly and nice family -If your planing to hike, you can borrow very good maps from the host -Nice dogs
Review 52:Service was very good ,the dinner and wine excelent. Try the white homemade frizzante! Thank you ,and your family Silvio! Ciao from Gabriel !
Review 53:Quiet Friendly
Review 54:The instructions provided for getting to the house from Naples by car could be more detailed for the stretch after the second tunnel where visitors should be told that there is an easy-to-miss sign to 'S. Lazzaro' where Mare e Monti is actually located. Otherwise you will find yourselves on the road to Amalfi!
Review 55:We received the warmest of welcomes and Silvio and his sister Anna went out of their way to meet our every need, to provide information and to heed our requests in all respects. We feel we got to know Silvio and his whole family. The home-made food and wine - all locally sourced - came in generous portions. The situation is tranquil, and the air good - a great contrast to the situation on the coast. It does, however, take 40 minutes by car and an hour by bus to reach Amalfi.
Review 56:Silvio and his family: made us feel so welcome... It was great to get away from the many, many tourists down on the Amalfi coast and experience a real Italian farm with spectacular views acoss the sea. The home cooking was all sourced from the farm also the fruit and wine. Wonderful!
Review 57:Service was very good. We arrived quite late (around midnight) and yet we got a great dinner accompanied with good homemade wine. Just for us. Host Silvio was very welcoming. The place was beautiful with great sea view. Extra point for the lovely friendly dog. Thanks for the hole staff/family!
Review 58:From Amalfi, take the road to Agerola, via Furore. Don't drive all the way to Ravello as is stated on this website!
Review 59:If you want a break from the hordes of tourists and pizza-restaurants at the coast, this is the place to be! Silvio, proud manager of Agroturismo Mare e Monti, offers you a slice of the real Italian life. Only an half hour's drive from Amalfi, this is a real garden of Eden, offering you an abundance of fruits, authentic food and Anna's superb cakes. We stayed much longer than planned and loved every minute!
Review 60:Wouldn't change a thing. (Although don't trust your gps- ourssent us down a ravine through a sheep pasture)
Review 61:The host family was incredibly friendly. The food was amazing! Usingtheir own produce and other local ingredients, prepared by the family, led by Mama (whose gnocchi is the best thing I ate in Italy). In ourgroup, we even had special dietary adjustments (gout, diabetes, vegetarian), all met with no problem. We stayed above the clouds, it washeavenly! You can see the sea far below from the hotel, or the friendlylocals can guide you to a great panorama from an old castle ont he cliffjust below, or from a city park up the next hill, crowned with moremodern ruins from the 1930s. The room was clean and comfortable, andthere are flowers everwhere on the grounds, lovely gardening.
Review 62:Very friendly owner. Makes you feel very welcome and helps with any question you might have about the area. Great views from the room of the surrounding ladscape and the sea. Convenient for many walks around Amalfi coast without tourist crowds. Very relaxing and nice stay. Would return anytime
Review 63:San Lazzaro is up in the mountains and difficult to reach, expect long driving to the Amalfitan coast (30 minutes)
Review 64:Mare e Monti is a perfect choice, if you want to stay near to but not on the Amalfitan coast and like simple fare good value-for-money dinners. We liked that our little son could walk around the Agriturismo freely and feed the animals. The dinners prepared by Ana and her mom are extensive, with local food from the farm for an extremely good price accompanied by a bottle of table wine and a Limoncello as digestif. The location is also ideal to start hiking trips above the Amalfitan coast, for example the sentiero degli dei, but many others more. Silvio, the owner, is very helpful with tips on day tours whether you want to go to Capri or Naples or elsewhere. We were very happy with our choice!
Review 65:the family: Silvio,Anna,Mamma and Papa
Review 66:Felt very welcome, beautiful setting, very peaceful and relaxing
