Reviews for Hotel Villa Elisa
Review 1:The rooms are rather small, noise carries from other rooms / floors and there is no alternative bedding (if the quilt is too hot it is too hot).
Review 2:We're return visitors who like the family run atmosphere, lovely gardens, good breakfast and efficient bathroom.
Review 3:A number of touches trying to achieve old world charm don't quite gel, arrangements of fake flowers, gaudy portraits but not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Review 4:Charming and humorous receptionist. Leafy neighbourhood, nice grounds, private parking and an hotel that harks back to 19th luxury.
Review 5:It was a little difficult to find the car park.
Review 6:The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. I was travelling on my own and felt very comfortable at Villa Elisa
Review 7:Comfortable hotel in beautiful surroundings. Lovely pool, plenty of seating around pool, wonderful plants and trees and excellent lunches served in garden. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 8:Little bit noisy on road side.
Review 9:Wonderful staff. Family hotel. Private locked at night parking. Good bathrooms Lots hot water Bar. Excellent wifi for streaming.
Review 10:The standard room on busy street was very small. Not enough room to open suitcases and barely enough to walk around bed. Not worth $130 a night!!!
Review 11:Good food and nice staff
Review 12:No complaints
Review 13:Staff very helpful - very clean - breakfast was the best we have had and included in the tariff - great pool. Would recommend this hotel.
Review 14:The villa is absolutely stunning and the people in the place all as lovely as can be. Great beds, great pool, quiet and with an amazing view of the historical Angst Hotel at the back and the lemon tree garden in the front.
Review 15:Leaving-might take my own pillow next time.
Review 16:This is a very well run hotel where you can relax and enjoy the world in the slow lane.Everything you would expect to confirm that Italy still as that grandeur and flair that makes Italy a bit special.
Review 17:Loved everything and are planning a return trip in 2015!
Review 18:Loved the ambiance of this old Italian villa. Lovely antique furniture in lounges. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable beds and good storage in rooms. Very, very clean! Nice garden with good pool and seating. 10-minute walk to main street and station but very pleasant town. Friendly staff!
Review 19:If you prefer to sleep with an open window it may be noisy in the evenings and mornings. "Thanks" to the motorcycles owners! Rooms are clean but could be cleaned better if you are a perfectionist.
Review 20:Beautiful place. Great atmosphere. Renovated rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast is definitely beyond 3star hotel! Small details make huge difference.
Review 21:Minor point. Bit more info re pool, mini bar, etc would be a useful addition to the folder in the bedroom.
Review 22:Staff we're extremely from the moment we arrived until we left. The hotel was comfortable. Our room was compact but the facilities were good, including a balcony with panoramic views. We found it well situated for the centre and the old town. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely go back. Visit to the restaurant well worth a visit.
Review 23:Air conditioning in some rooms may be underpowered in very hot weather.
Review 24:The hotel is very well situated - easy walking distance from beach and old town. It is set in a beautiful garden with shady sitting areas. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and always professional.
Review 25:Our room and furniture was more than a little dated (Wardrobes etc looked like something from the late 50's or 60's) and it is obvious that a good paint up and redecoration is more than a little overdue in places.
Review 26:I came back to the Villa Elisa with my wife after having visited on a blokes trip to the Monaco Grand Prix 5 years ago. The hotels good points are still;Cleanliness, helpful staff, good pool, good breakfasts, comfy bed, nice front gardens/entrance.
Review 27:Lovely place, located few mintues walk from the center

Review 32:Some of the public rooms are rather dated.
Review 33:Comfortable stay in a pretty hotel near the centre.
Review 34:Everything
Review 35:Small room, weak AC, soft bed, value for money (expensive), far from sea shore
Review 36:Breakfast, terrasse, healpful staff
Review 37:hotel in a quiet location, not far from train station and town. Was nice to come back to Hotel and eat in the restaurant. Very convenient.
Review 38:The service at the breakfast and the breakfast overall. Not good quality

Review 47:A well located, good quaöity for money hotel, and the staff is superb!! Third time here, and we'll definately return again:-)
Review 48:Missing all fruit from the breakfast
Review 49:Romantic rooms, Good pool, Helpful personnel,
Review 50:Cannot think of a single thing.
Review 51:The staff were friendly but very professional. Even though the hotel would suit most ages and combinations of guests there is a great intimate feel throughout the hotel such that family groups sit very easily alongside other guests. This is particularly true at poolside and in the restaurant. Everything seems to be at the right proportion to everything else - a great achievement
Review 52:Very friendly staff nothing is to much trouble the pool area is very pleasant and we were served with a nice light lunch by the pool, will be going back next year for the Monaco Grand Prix again.
Review 53:The air conditioning was not effective in late September. I could not imagine August. The parking lot is a joke. It might have worked when everyone drove a Fiat.
Review 54:Hotel Villa Elisa is a comfortable, family friendly hotel in Bordighera. It is convenient to the beach and the Old Town.
Review 55:Both myself with a friend and my elderly parents have stayed here separately and had an excellent staff. All the staff are very friendly and efficient with excellent English. The rooms are adequate but very clean. The breakfast buffet very good and my parents also had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. The gardens are very pleasant and the little pool makes it. Although the hotel is a little walk from the sea front and the old town I would strongly recommend this hotel.
Review 56:Room décor could use an update.
Review 57:Hotel Staff was very accommodating. The pool area was well maintained and lunch by the pool was delightful. Service throughout the hotel was excellent. The restaurant was very good.
Review 58:Serving wine in glass around the pool. One glass broken while we were there.Although they were fast in clearing away, there is always danger of glass still being on the ground, as it is invisible to the eye.I did suggest plastic! Bedroom floor was not mopped over while we were there.Bathroom fine.Nearly all restaurants were Pizza & Pasta.Only 2 serving meat.Fish well catered for on sea front promenard.
Review 59:Family run business, staff mainly family, very helpful & pleasant, good English spoken.10 min walk into Bordighera, all flat. Very quiet, roads & town.Convenient drive to Ventimelia , San Remo & Menton(France).Medieval villages in countryside north of town.
Review 60:traffic noise but difficult because of location on busy road. would have liked a bath.
Review 61:superb staff. unassuming but everything ran so smoothly. Gorgeous breakfast and excellent evening meal. good masseuse.
Review 62:The free parking is slightly restricted as there is not enough room in the car park for all the guest's cars. There is parking in the quiet street at the rear and you can pay in advance to reserve a space at the hotel as an option.
Review 63:This is family run hotel and the staff are extremely helpful and accomodating. We have stayed there many times and would always return there when visiting Bordighera.
Review 64:nothing
Review 65:the hotel was in a very attractive area, very quiet but near to old and new towns with great restraunts. the hotel was lovely with a nice pool and the staff could not be more helpful. would definatley go back.
Review 66:- Street noise in city view rooms - Somewhat "old fashioned" interior from the 1980s in the rooms - Not direcly in the city center, but close and safe to walk (5 Minutes)
Review 67:- Nice gardens, located - Very nice building, old villa - Nice sea and city view in upper street views (only selected rooms have balcony) - No parking problems
Review 68:Amount charged was more than the booking.com agreed price. Massiveextra charges for drinks, water, coffee etc. Guests should make theagreed room rate very clear and then pay for everything as and whenthey take it.
Review 69:Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool and gardens beautiful. Roomcomfortable and food good. Location excellent and English spokenfluently by all staff.
Review 70:the road was quite noisy but thats not their fault!I shut the windows and put on the air con and it was fine.ask for pool view rooms my daughter said it was really quiet
Review 71:We spent one night at Villa Elisa.Fantastic staff. very comfortable beds ,fantastic buffet breakfast great value.would return again.
Review 72:As a seasoned traveller, I have only praise for this hotel. The garden, the public rooms and the bedrooms are impeccable. The staff are friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the breakfast which was chosen from a vast array. I would recommend the Villa Elisa to all my friends.
Review 73:Hotel Villa Elisa is a Victorian villa that has been sympathetically converted into a hotel, beautifully set amongst delightful gardens. If you are not coming by car, it is close enough to the train station to be able to reach it on foot. There are plenty of common areas where the guests can gather but don't, necessarily, have to sit together. It is people- and pet-friendly, the rooms not enormous but not crammed either, the food at its restaurant exceptional and the staff are courteous and helpful over and above the call of duty. I have stayed in many 5-star hotels but I have to say that Villa Elisa is a rare find, a true hidden gem and I intend to return as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Review 74:A little road noise at times during the day (in front room)
Review 75:Welcoming.Relaxing stay.Attractive pool with plentiful loungers. Public rooms well decorated in country villa style. Good choice and copious breakfast. Shady garden with tables and chairs and citrus .palms and large cacti. Dinners very good and well priced. Agreeable small balcony
Review 76:Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 77:I liked the feel of the place, it had an understated elegance from a time gone by, the staff, particularly Claudia, who really helped us with taxis etc for our elderly friend who could not walk too far, we're very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, there wasn't a thing I could have wanted that wasn't there. The beds were supremely comfortable I slept very well and the shower was great, all in all if I stay in bordighera again, I will stay at Villa Elisa, all 4 in our party feel the same
Review 78:Bed was a bit hard. Decor of the room was dark/dull, not to our taste, a bit dated.
Review 79:The breakfast was excellent. Staff professional and friendly. Room was clean. Bathrooom nice.
Review 80:Some might find the distance from the old town slightly off-putting - but it's a nice walk - on the flat - along a road full of interest with all its Belle Epoque villas, so hardly a great strain to amble along.
Review 81:Comfortable hotel with lovely garden of citrus and olive trees, and a small/medium pool. Well located for some interesting local cultural centres, and not too far (about a mile) from the old town with its restaurants, nor from the sea (about half a mile). Staff very professional, accommodating and friendly. Bordighera has a slightly old-fashioned feel - few if any fast-food joints, noisy nightclubs or suchlike. But it's full of quieter attractions, and within easy reach by public transport of other attractions along the coast and inland.
Review 82:Everything. It is an hotel that sets and maintains the highest standards all around. The gardens and pool area are particularly nice. A separate play area for children is safe and well supplied.
Review 83:The safety box didn't work properly and the was not enough parkingspaces at the hotel.
Review 84:The Hotel was nice and the staff really friendly and helpful. The roomwas spacious and clean and got a good air conditioning. The restaurantwas really good, worth dining both a la carte and menu of the day. Thebreakfast was basic. Location was great between Monaco and San Remo, easy to visit both by car. The town itself had not much to offer, eventhe beach was quite dirty. But the children enjoyed the pool insead ofthe beach.
Review 85:Very friendly hotel with helpful staff , great at translating the menu and helping with our poor Italian! Rooms were very comfortable and the restaurant was excellent value for money with some lovely local dishes and seafood. Gardens with lemon trees etc were lovely to sit in.
Review 86:A perfect little family hotel set in an incredibly lovely garden. Easy access to the old and new town and the wonderful beach. We will certainly stay there again when passing that way.
Review 87:Breakfast very disappointing - tinned fruit salad and staff slow to replenish a very uninspiring buffet. Surprised to be charged extra for coffee after rejecting jug of instant. Best to arrive fairly early as parking space limited.
Review 88:Location not far from centre and the 2km promenade, cleanliness and freshness of the room and the lovely gardens.
Review 89:The staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the room (junior suite) was well organized and spacious. Everything was immaculately clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent and served with charm and efficiency. I travel frequently to Ventimiglia and would be very happy to stay at Villa Elisa , alone or with guests.
Review 90:Bordighera itself was not quite as expected, the old town was the mostattractive- not really a seaside resort.
Review 91:The hotel had a wonderful Italian style about it. The rooms were largeand very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool areaand garden were delightful. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 92:Not enough parking for the guests. Their breakfast policy was penny-pinching, E.g only one drink, and extra payment for boiled eggs, which Inever encountered before. At the price they charged they could havedispensed with these restrictions
Review 93:The staff were helpful. The spa was very pleasant and clean,as was thesauna. The gardens were beautiful.
Review 94:The Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. Staff and Management wereexcellent and very customer focused. This was our first time in thisHotel and we would definitely stay again. Food was also excellent.
Review 95:Lovely villa and gardens. Quiet but not far from old town, beach and shops. Easy to visit interesting places nearby. Very good dinner and breakfast.
Review 96:The welcome to start with, being given a choice of 3 rooms all of which would have been acceptable, and the quality of the furnishings. We had a room with a large balcony facing south. The swimming pool was lovely if a little cold in early May. The restaurant was excellent. We had the no-choice menu at 40euros, which consisted of 5 courses, each excellent. Not a cheap stay, but excellent and we would look forward to returning if in the area.
Review 97:The hôtel is in a nice old villa with a pleasant garden. Convenient parking lot. We could re-enter late the evening to the hotel and we were welcome.
Review 98:We had a very nice stay at Villa Elisa, rigth before easter. Rigth at start we felt a warm welcome from smiling Claudia at the desk. (What a gift for a place like this she is). Since it was a slow period we were upgraded to a very nice room with balcony and view over the garden. Above all a very nice hospitality - fore example we asked about the bus - we were handed two bus tickets...!!. My brother had his grand birthday - in the morning he was salutéd happy birthday...!! Also Francesca and the rest of her easygoing staff made us feel at home away from home. When going to Bordighera stay her if to be close to everything yet secluded in the charming villa in a garden full of oranges and lemons. Yes, - we had orange juice every morning fresh from the garden. Deligthful place and staff with a grandour of days gone by.
Review 99:The staff were wonderful, especially Chiara, who made our stay special. She was also extremely helpful and booked us in a hotel in Genoa. We liked the villa, with its old fashioned-charm, the food was excellent and the garden a delight, with its own citrus orchard.
Review 100:Niente
Review 101:Amazing staff, they made us feel so welcome. Everything was perfect. I would really love to come back again to this special place.
Review 102:Nothing
Review 103:The meal in the restaurant was poor.

Review 113:The staff is super, and nothing is impossible :-) Clean, good located and easy to find. Will stay here again, when returning to Bordighera!!
