Reviews for Coach & Horses Hotel

Review 1:Honestly nothing. And I'm usually quite fussy.

Review 2:Stayed here to visit Kew gardens. Receptionist was lovely. The bar had a a fantastic atmosphere. Food and drink was wonderful. And the rooms were so elegant. Beautiful bathroom, comfy bed, robe and slippers just make it feel a little bit special. Would absolutely stay here again.

Review 3:Just about the best place to stay in outer London. Great welcome, very comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and some fine beers. Great value for money

Review 4:Meal in the restaurant was average - but the wine we had was good value and pleasant drinking.

Review 5:Great location, very good facilities in the rooms - good TV, comfy beds, bathroom great, good tea/coffee. Friendly and informative staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 6:Only gripes were the view from our room, a collection of gas cylinders and breakfast on day 2 which didn't live up to the previous days offerings. This was not enough to spoil our break tho and all in all, I would definitely stay at Coach and horses again.

Review 7:Clean and tidy room, staff very helpful and friendly. Great location for Central London which is only 35 mins away on tube. Breakfast on day 1 was superb.

Review 8:There was absolutely nothing I disliked about the hotel.

Review 9:This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was lovely with everything provided that you could possibly need and the staff were friendly and very helpful. I felt we were not just 'a number'. They all seemed to care. It was very convenient for Kew and also for getting into London. We took the bus. The stop was only a few steps away and the journey was far more interesting than taking the train. I would not hesitate to stay there again and most probably will at some time in the future. I would also not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

Review 10:Nothing!

Review 11:Everything. The rooms were clean, modern and homely. The Nespresso machine was a massive bonus! Very close to transport. Beautiful area of greater London. The staff had a great sense of humour and appeared genuinely helpful. Delicious breakfast with so many options. The pub was a lovely place to sit by the fire with a drink or book in the evening. Great stay. We will definitely be back!

Review 12:We wished we had booked an extra night.

Review 13:We stayed here for one night for a visit to see the Christmas lights at Kew Gardens. The hotel/pub is well located being a short walk to the park and in a delightful setting. We booked a twin room which was beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and very quiet. The bathroom was large and well equipped with an assortment of toiletries and the overall cleanliness was of a very high standard. Another bonus of this hotel is the free car park either in a gated area underneath the hotel itself or a further parking area to the side. Our room rate included a great choice of breakfast items either a full English or a combination of continental and cooked which once again was delicious and well presented. We really enjoyed our stay at The Coach & Horses and will definitely book this hotel again in the near future. The staff were all friendly and welcoming which made for a very relaxed experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Kew and the surrounding area.

Review 14:The room was beautiful, staff very friendly and very helpful, food was great, very clean and comfortable , would certainly return and recommend to family & friends

Review 15:None such

Review 16:Clean single en suite room. Nice bar with real ale and bar and restaurant style meals. Handy location on South Circular just over Kew Bridge with many attractions so near. A walk around Kew Green revealed a number of other eateries.

Review 17:The only small criticism was a bit of a rough sleep due to very hard pillows. Though this wouldn't put us off going back.

Review 18:Incredibly friendly staff, superb location and rather yummy food, all set in an inviting pub.

Review 19:Only complaint is that room was incredibly hot, had to have window open in December. Food in restaurant at night distinctly average - would eat elsewhere next time.

Review 20:Free parking, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, and room (apart from temperature) really good - very clean and quiet.

Review 21:Superb location for those visiting Kew Gardens or the area in general. A short walk from the tube which allows access into London. Car park an advantage. Beautiful room. Clean, warm and a comfy bed. Really good breakfast and evening meals

Review 22:Dinner advertised a curry but this was off by 7.30pm so I had chicken and chips which was ok but not great.

Review 23:The great helpfulness of the reception staff and of the staff in general.

Review 24:Bathroom ventilation system could be improved. Plane noise is constant (but earplugs provided) so could be an issue for VERY light sleepers, but not much the hotel can do. Not a big issue for normal sleepers.

Review 25:Very nice staff. Nice rooms and clean carpet in the rooms. Nice food and breakfast.

Review 26:Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent bar. Superior rooms are fantastic. A great location to visit London but staying outside the congestion zone, and a beautiful area near Kew gardens.

Review 27:would have liked dressing gowns in room bit confusing basket of goods in room knowing if complimentary or not complimentary bottled water would be good

Review 28:Closeness to tube, parking on site great breakfast lovely staff really lovely room would stay again without hesitation Richmond town centre within 30 mins very welcoming great coffee

Review 29:Breakfast room was rather cramped - difficult to manouvre. Service was quite slow

Review 30:Lovely walk from the tube. Brilliant location to Kew. Extremely friendly staff. Lovely bar area. Very cosy atmosphere. Bedrooms were boutique and very well equipped. Suprisingly quiet despite road facing room

Review 31:Everything is of such a high standard that it is surprising that the breakfast coffee is so poor. Why use cona filter when there is an excellent coffee machine? The majority of the staff were very good, friendly and efficient, so it was such a pity that they were let down by the two breakfast waitresses who really shouldn't be in the hospitality industry.

Review 32:The room was spacious and everything was of a very high standard with a really good bathroom and quality toiletries. A nice touch to have a nespresso machine in the room with a selection of coffees. The location on Kew Green was ideal for walking to Kew Gardens or along the river bank to Richmond. Plenty of choices all around for eating, as well as in house. I would particularly recommend Linnea for its excellent food. There is a spacious car park behind the hotel as well as an underground one which is a real plus in this part of London.

Review 33:firstly ease of booking. Then friendly welcoming staff, with good knowledge of surrounding area. lovely room, very clean. breakfast was excellent with a good choice. We had our evening meal there as well, it was delicious!

Review 34:Breakfast wasn't so good with a very long wait for our food to be served. The 'American Pancake' was just a single, very thin pancake drenched in syrup. Left breakfast still feeling hungry!

Review 35:Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The travel cot we had requested was ready for us. We ordered room service and had our meal promptly delivered. The food was well cooked and nicely presented.

Review 36:some of the staff did not give a warm welcome and appeared miserable, breakfast staff gave the impression they couldn't care for our custom, considering this was a personal celebration trip away, this was disappointing.

Review 37:room looked lovely, very clean, view was great. breakfast food very good.

Review 38:Location & underground car park. Made a trip to London stress free. Great pub menu and food excellent, welcoming and friendly staff, Loved the pub real feel good atmosphere about the place. Clean comfortable and stylish hotel room. Not too far from Kew Gardens tube station.

Review 39:My only grumble was the pillows were not very comfortable.

Review 40:The rooms were fabulous and lot's of lovely towels and toiletries. Lovely welcome hamper and nespresso machine also great. Breakfast was delicious every morning .

Review 41:Felt that having to put money into a meter to pay for air conditioning for a 130 pound per night wasn't ideal. Could t leave Windows open as there was loud bangs from the bins outside.

Review 42:The staff were very friendly, the underground parking provided peace of mind.

Review 43:Bed and bedroom were excellent. Breakfasts are a plus. Hotel was secure and well insulated against noise. Easy 5 minute walk to The National Archives.

Review 44:Expensive for a single room; breakfast not served early enough before I had to leave (8am)

Review 45:Very comfortable room. Great bathroom. Lots of pleasant touches such a stoiletries, quality tea/coffee/snacks, a rubber duck in the shower

Review 46:The only down side was that a lot of the dishes on the menu were off. Not a problem if you were only staying one night but was disappointing if you wanted to eat in the restaurant more than one night. However, the nearby Kew Grill was excellent.

Review 47:Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a lovely room. It was close to Kew Gardens and not far from two stations so travel by public transport was easy, except for the fact that the buses didn't take cash and it was not easy (or cheap) to buy tickets.

Review 48:We booked the superior double room in the assumption that it had the larger bed. But apparently not all rooms have the king size, you need to ask for it at booking. So sleep was not as good as it could have been, had we known. Might need to ask for a room at the back as we sleep with the window open and the road in front never sleeps.

Review 49:The hotel has a lovely feel about it, every detail is thoughtfully cared for. We loved the way it's closeness to Kew Gardens is present in all the soft furnishings and look of the hotel. We had a very nice welcome from the receptionist who took care to check us in and answer all our questions. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast very good, staff at breakfast tried hard to be friendly. Wifi and Parking as promised. We definitely will stay there again, when we visit Kew next time.

Review 50:No proper window in the room. Dinner (piece of meat) in restaurant was not chewable. Maybe my expectations to the pub/restaurant was to high.

Review 51:The room, beautifully interior

Review 52:Breakfast was a bit of a shambles with the kitchen running out of plates...when queried they said they did not expect so many guests to come down at the same time?

Review 53:The rooms were very comfortable and surprisingly quiet.

Review 54:I just found the breakfast a little bit too greasy for my liking however, on a whole it was tasty.

Review 55:Friendly welcome. Loved my room, nice little touches. Bathroom with everything I needed. Comfy bed and a cosy lovely furnished room.

Review 56:The shower floor was very slippery. The shower panel's width did not prevent water from spraying into the room when the hand-held spray was used.

Review 57:Wonderful to discover that we could order off the full breakfast menu and it was included in the price! The staff were gracious in storing our luggage after we checked out, while we toured Kew Gardens.

Review 58:The planes start flying over quite early in the morning in and out of Heathrow Airport...not the fault of the hotel of course...but a bit noisy if you're not used to it.

Review 59:A really nice, cosy pub experience in a great location for Kew Gardens etc. The breakfast and other food was also great! The bath comes with a rubber duck.

Review 60:Beautifully decorated "boutique bedrooms" with scrumptiously comfortable bed! - great ye olde pub atmosphere in public areas - looking out onto the village green and walking distance to Kew Gardens, and village, etc

Review 61:Dinner on the Sunday evening was a disapointment. I had the Beef and Ale pie with chips inplace of mash but I still had the gravy, maybe I should have said I didn't want gravy !!! The pastry was very hard and the meat had a very strong flavour, it was like it had been in thhe oven for most of the day The drinks were a little on the pricey side..

Review 62:All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. Car Parking was a great assett, position of the hotel was excellent for what we wanted to do. All in all there was not really a lot to complain about, the only real disapointment was my Beef & Ale pie...

Review 63:Asked for early check in as attending a family party, receptionist most unhelpful. We finally checked in at 14:10 but the room we had requested a superior double on top floor, quiet with bath wasn't ready, yet they knew we had been waiting to check in from 12:15pm. Ordered roast lunch whilst waiting for£14, meat totally inedible

Review 64:Kew green lovely. Rooms well done with all amenities

Review 65:- The pub could make more of dining experience felt too much like a "mans drinking pub" - The housekeeping staff were stood in corridor gossiping for an hour morning of departure , not very professional - The waitress was busy working alone so could not attend to all needs e.g. When asked do you have marmalade the response was "have a look if we have it will be over there " - the breakfast plates could be smaller we had to be on table of four for two people to accommodate dinner and side plates ...food was lost on plates , not efficient use of table space - found three long dark hairs on bed and in bathroom we don't have this hair type so off putting regarding cleanliness , but no other cleanliness issues found on surface - service was polite and helpful but a few members of staff seemed to dither as though training would help Above may sound picky , but all are easily Improved and I hope based on detail given the establishment can improve further on what has very good potential

Review 66:- Bedrooms were nicely decorated - Beds comfortable and soft furnishings v good - coffee machine , radio, TV good quality in room - breakfast food was relatively good given the prior reviews on food were not all together positive - staff generally smiley and accommodating on reception and in bar - location perfect for trip to Kew - price reasonable for London and area and for standard of room

Review 67:Price of rooms inaccurate double room same price as a superior room was told that as booked rooms for wedding party flat rate was given for all rooms so ended up paying more for inferior room ! Also they debit £100 when you check in and also require full payment for room when you check out. Inconsistencies with staff regarding payments of hotel bill .

Review 68:Lovely rooms and bathrooms

Review 69:Beautiful rooms with very high quality decor and design. High end bathrooms Excellent welcome basket and a Nespresso Coffee machine with selection of pods. Live entertainment in the bar the night we stayed. Good underground parking

Review 70:The guest on the next table in the restaurant had a bowl of chips spilled in his lap due to the waitress leaning over the table with his burger meal rather than bringing it to his side.

Review 71:We liked most things about this Hotel.

Review 72:Only one negative comment: Sunday night roast in the pub was very average, meat tasted like refried/reheated. Otherwise all was fantastic.

Review 73:Location, comfort, breakfast - all excellent.

Review 74:Only the bacon - too crisp- but I could have said!!

Review 75:The trouble that was taken to ensure that my husband (Alzheimer's suffere) had a ground floor room, and I felt Antonia and other receptionist- lovely kind blonde lady- understood my anxiety and did all they could. The lovely friendly young lady who looked after our room was great too.

Review 76:Not a bad experience as such but I booked a superior double room but think we only got a standard double as the room was not like any of the pictures we saw on the website for a superior room. The view from the window wasn't good ( the back of a rundown property next door) so don't think that was superior.

Review 77:The hotel was clean, modern & across from Kew gardens. The staff were very friendly & the breakfast was good

Review 78:Free wifi was a bit erratic.

Review 79:Superior bedroom was very comfortable and well appointed. Staff were helpful and free parking a real plus point. Location was perfect.

Review 80:Excellent value in a lovely but convenient part of London. Would definitely come back. The quality of the extras provided in the rooms were excellent. Also enjoyed bbq.c

Review 81:No specific residents area for relaxation if you did not want a public "pubby" atmosphere. (It was raining heavily when we stayed)

Review 82:Convenient location. Helpful staff. Well designed and decorated bedrooms.

Review 83:Rooms were not ready at 2 checkin time. They gave us 1 room at 3 and when we left to go to the wedding, my room was still not ready - we had to go to a wedding at 4.45pm at Kew Gardens. Monday morning at 11.10 (check out at 11) I was told that I was late to check-out!!!

Review 84:Location to Kew Gardens, newly refurbished spacious room, excellent breakfast

Review 85:Very minor irritation for us and more so for the staff but the television kept going wrong.

Review 86:Very comfortable bed and spacious well equipped room. Back of pub, not noisy at all considering Heathrow flight path and busy road. Secure underground parking. Perfect location for Kew Gardens, and Hampton Court. Very friendly staff. Food was ok, not exceptional, but plenty.

Review 87:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room decor was lovely and shower was great. The food was excellent and I loved sitting outside the hotel in the evening sun. The breakfast is amazing and again the staff were very friendly and looked after us very well.

Review 88:Wifi difficult to stay connected but not a major issue

Review 89:Great location for kew gardens , gorgeous room and facilities. The food was lovely and the bonus of a parking space . Very friendly hosts and excellent value for money would definately recommend .

Review 90:Traditional beers were not available in the pub. They had Young's beers but they were just OK...kind of a corporate craft beer.

Review 91:Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Great location if you are visiting Kew Gardens. It is a 10 minute walk to the Underground. There are several places to eat and pubs nearby including the Coach and Horses

Review 92:The duvet was too hot!!! Even with the air-conditioning on!

Review 93:Great location for the Gardens and the National Archives. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful and comfortable rooms.

Review 94:Not enough staff in restaurant.long wait for meal in the evening. Breakfast over cooked no fresh fruit or choice of cereal. Poor value for money.

Review 95:Comfortable rooms

Review 96:The staff is friendly, the room was very clean, it has a very nice pub and restaurant and reasonable prices for the London area. I ate most of my meals in the restaurant or pub because the food is very good and it was so convenient. I would definitely stay there again on any return trip to London!

Review 97:Nothing

Review 98:Helpful and cheerful staff, good facilities, retains personal touch absent from large hotels, lift from car park to room level a big help with luggage!

Review 99:Perfect for visiting Kew. Good food. Let us use the car park for the rest of the day after checkout whilst we visited Kew Gardens which was purpose of visit. Decor, comfort and bathroom all good. A problem was sorted straight away in a professional manner by the manager who clearly has high standards and his finger on the pulse; sometimes this leaves a better impression and gives more confidence than if everything went perfectly! Would definitely stay again.

Review 100:Staff are genuine and very helpful. The food is excellent - the made to order breakfast in particular. Rooms are spacious, welcoming and lots of quality extras.

Review 101:The Coach and Horses provided us with everything we needed and in the ideal spot. The atmosphere was excellent. Very relaxed. Kirsty on reception was exceptionally helpful and very professional.

Review 102:To complain about anything would be unfair and petty.

Review 103:Room was top quality, best shower in a hotel for months, dinner and breakfast were most enjoyable. Free underground car park and friendly helpful staff. Would stay again without hesitation.

Review 104:The only minor issue was the toilet door which jammed on shutting and the handle came off when trying to open.

Review 105:What a wonderful find this was. In a lovely setting by the green gave it a village feel. All the staff were great and obviously well trained and the rooms were very comfortable and finished to a good standard.

Review 106:Only slight black mark was my husband said the men's loos were not clean, BUT it was late pm on a bank hol Monday and the rest of the hotel was very clean

Review 107:the location was excellent the staff were welcoming and helpful.mthere were lots of nice extras, eg iced water on tap. Nothing was too much trouble. Best of all were the staff, all of them helpful and trying to go the extra mile .

Review 108:Basically none.

Review 109:I am going to Kew for a business trip and luckily I chose coach and horses. It situates very close to Kew. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The lady at the reception was very helpful.

Review 110:Only slight disappointment was breakfast was a bit haphazard. Having said that my husband thoroughly enjoyed his kipper.

Review 111:The staff were excellent. Even though they have recently been refurbished and stopped taking dogs they honoured our booking. Lovely evening meal. Fires in all bars made hotel very cosy.

Review 112:My itinerary didn't allow me to stay longer!

Review 113:Friendly staff, good food, great choice of beer, ambience immediately made you feel relaxed and at home. Very well appointed rooms. Excellent location. Secure parking.

Review 114:Very clean, comfortable and stylish bedroom and pub. Breakfast was excellent. Not a bad thing to say about it - we enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 115:Took a couple of goes to work out how to use Sky TV Toilet needed a good push to flush

Review 116:Bed, shower, lunch in the bar, breakfast, staff and service all excellent

Review 117:Room overlooked the pub car park which did make you feel a bit on show. There was a blind, but nets would have helped.

Review 118:Food, atmosphere, staff, good sized room, excellent real-coffee maker in the room, secure (free) parking. Less that five minutes walk to Kew Gardens entrance.

Review 119:Dinners mediocre. All quite expensive.

Review 120:Perfect location for Kew gardens. Pleasant and helpful staff. Very comfortable room. Convenient parking. Freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 121:Guest Wifi didn't work

Review 122:Well situated on Kew Green Typical English pub atmosphere Good food Good breakfast Next to Kew Garden Comfortable rooms

Review 123:Very small quible as the bed was very comfortable but the pillows were either too small depth wise but if you put two together they were too fat! One medium size would suffice!

Review 124:I loved my room great large screen tv with sky sports which was perfect for me as a sports fan. I loved the very hi-tec bathroom and the superb shower and my stay was topped off with a wonderful full english b/fast! The staff behind the bar were very attentative and friendly and the lady who served me breakfast was very good. All in all a very pleasant stay. I would definitely stop again if i am in the area!

Review 125:Only small niggle was the pillows. But I'm really fussy and really should travel my own.

Review 126:Loved this hotel. Restaurant was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. Warm welcome at reception, secure car park. And the room had everything we needed.

Review 127:Location was perfect, relaxing and peaceful. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was fabulous, with all amenities catered for and food was absolutely lovely. Will definitely be visiting again.

Review 128:The wireless in the bedroom was useless no biscuits in minibar. Could not have 2nd cup of tea at breakfast as the kettle was broken! Also ran out of brown toast.

Review 129:Car parking very good. Staff very polite, very large comfortable bed.

Review 130:The first meal we had was over cooked - one has to add the main chef was not present that night!

Review 131:The staff were very obliging; the manager was always around and quick to engage with the clients. The senior chef made us one of his specials at a very competitive price. Wine was fairly priced and range of beers was excellent. Great bar and sitting room - and excellent location for London and surrounding areas especially if you have a car

Review 132:The accommodation was very clean and I like the Colour scheme. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It is safer to put a handle for the bath tub to get out.
