Reviews for Mystras Castle Town

Review 1:A few maintenance issues in the apartment eg drain, toilet seat and chair.

Review 2:Proximity to Mystras sites. View from the room. We liked the kettle and coffee machine for breakfast. The staff are very friendly and the location and car parking were excellent.

Review 3:Excellent self-catering accommodation in lovely old house. Friendly helpful owners and good breakfast (optional extra). Right in the village centre.

Review 4:Eleni is very easy going and relax. We were treated to her lovely cakes and coffee under trees in the family compound. The apartment is very spacious 1 bedroom apartment with a lovely bath. The kitchen is well equiped though we only used it to make tea and coffee. Good view of the ruins of Mystra too.

Review 5:Nothing bad

Review 6:Very welcoming host, made us comfortable, there was a power cut to the town for 4 hours, host arranged hot water for coffee. Good kitchen, good English, off street parking, minutes drive to Mystras site. WiFi OK but a bit weak due to no router in the stone building. 3 ply toilet paper which was a nice touch so to speak. Clean. Double glazed windows, off the main highway so noise was not a big issue. Highly recommended

Review 7:Great stay at Mystras Castle Town. Very friendly and super-helpful host. Our room was spacious and well-decorated. We received excellent advice from our host, who gave us dining suggestions (best Greek restaurant we've eaten at during our trip). Large shower and comfortable bed.

Review 8:The hotel is beautiful, well positioned, you can see all the Sparti valley, wonderful sunset in quiet with the wine offered by the owners. They are wonderful people, always asking if all is ok, they also helped us to find the hotel in another town! The room was so nice and clean!

Review 9:It didn't bother us, but there's a fringe in the kitchenette part and the noise of it starting up could be a problem for some. There's another smaller bedroom too, though.

Review 10:Perfect place to stay for visit to Mystras. Nice people, great breakfast, ideal location in centre of village. We had the little flat - it was the only room left when we booked and it was fine. Plenty of space, balcony, and easy to make tea/ coffee and keep drinks cool.

Review 11:The stairs...

Review 12:Location in the center of the village. The owner lady very friendly and helpfull. Very good breakfast served in the garden. Big and clean room. Good parking.

Review 13:The friendly landlady - she was lovely. Nice big room. Had a shared kitchen, which was great to just be able to make ourselves a cup of tea. Didn't use it to cook, but there were plenty of utensils, pots etc if we wanted to.

Review 14:Being a business travel, a small desk or computer station would have been nice, but Mystras is almost exclusively tourists, so i understand why no desk

Review 15:Great owners, basic, comfortable, affordable , lovely older stone building, In Mystras (how bad could it be!) nice freshly cooked breakfast Highly recommended

Review 16:We liked the large room to stretch out in and use of the kitchen to make our snacks and coffee. We spent much time on the balcony. The current owners showed me photos of their mother from when I stayed there 20 years ago and gave me a picture to remember her by.

Review 17:Elena was lovely, very hospitable and made the best Greek coffee we encountered in Greece. The apartment was very well appointed, spacious and the balcony had a lovely view. I wish I had booked a few more days to relax here as it was one of the more chill places that I stayed.

Review 18:No Internet (they say walls are thick, we told them the solution is called router)... nothing to help you make your breakfast - let alone make lunch or dinner: no salt, pepper, coffee, tea or any kind of oil/butter. When asked the proprietar why is that, he replied there was a problem with ants! Not to my knowledge that salt & pepper attract ants. This said, the owners are ready to help with everything - but why should I ask for salt & pepper?

Review 19:Good location, spacious rooms, warm welcome

Review 20:Bit old-school in the furnishing…. but that's also charm too….

Review 21:One of the most magical breakfasts ever. Eating fresh oranges in March whilst looking up at snowy peaks… hard to beat. Everything locally sourced. Charming. Reminded me of Greece in the days of the Drachma… Lovely host.

Review 22:Beds are quite old and make noise every time you turn around. Breakfastis ok but very limited - but it's also very cheap.

Review 23:Great location -> in the village center so ideal for walking in theevening to a restaurant (and still, no noise in our room). Lockedparking gate. Very friendly service. Big room (we had the 4 persoon roomfor the 2 of us). Very good value for money!

Review 24:Owners are quite friendly and easy-going. Homemade breakfast. This kind of simple accomodation was quite relaxing after the city hotels during the rest of the trip.

Review 25:It was like staying at home, but with one of the most beautiful and most interesting places behind the window. Very friendly and nice owners ready to assist you. I wish there were more accommodations of this quality.

Review 26:Absolutely nothing :-)

Review 27:Location-very nice city of Mystras, possible to do a trip to the local castle with beautiful view + you can see the castle from your room, great homemade breakfast, very friendly and kind owner

Review 28:The room was very cold (we stayed there in february) despite a heating that was turned on.

Review 29:The breakfast was a positive surprise. Fresh and with a lot of variation.

Review 30:There was hot water ONLY for one of us and it was cold untill the next day :( They accept only Cash, but in page of reservation said incorrect

Review 31:Location. Pretty old village between famous ruins of Mystras and nice kanoen. Kind owners. Amusing sunrise from the bolcony!!!

Review 32:Nothing.

Review 33:The owners were great. Its a perfect budget-friendly place very close to the local attraction and the town's restaurants and market. The wifi was the best we've had so far. We were not allowed to leave until we gathered some oranges from their tree to take with us. It was perfect. The parking was off the road too.

Review 34:the internet did not work, but it is fixable

Review 35:The location, the size of the apartment, the old town, the surrounding historic sites, the hosts (very friendly).

Review 36:Pretty good all round! I have nothing negative to say.

Review 37:Family-run, feels very warm and hospitable. There is a central sitting area and kitchen with tea & coffee facilities. Was free to pick their excellent mandarins straight from the trees in their courtyard. The room was large with air-conditioning and good room service. The location was perfect, an easy 15-20 minute walk up the hill to the Kastro and about 40 metres from the central town square with shops, tavernas, etc.

Review 38:Muy bien, limpio y caliente, q en diciembre era imporntante. We pass only one nigth, but the owner was very kind, the house was warm (it was december), and it was one of the best cheap hotels we founded in our roadtrip.

Review 39:Owners were very nice and welcoming! They drove us to the castle and provided a breakfast the night before so we could have something for our very early morning departure.

Review 40:All good!

Review 41:Amazing welcome from our hosts, who made our stay a real pleasure. Very comfortable apartment, with basic but adequate facilities for preparing breakfast, lunch and simple evening meals. Fabulous location for getting into the Taygetos mountains. Mountain scenery and local town environment very attractive. Lots of paths and tracks to get you out of the village and into the hills. Cosy, inviting tavernas. Can;t recommend Mystras and Mystras Castle Town highly enough. Will definitely be back again.

Review 42:Stayed 1 night in a double room and 4 nights in the apartment. The double room had very new furniture and fixtures. The apartment is very spacious (4-bedders). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Owners are very friendly, and knowing that we like fresh oranges, we were offered a few everyday (we also asked for permission to plucked some from the garden). Location is great, within walking distance from the archaeological site. The apartment had an open view of the mountain, and we had daily strolls in the nearby olive and oranges plantation. Definitely value for money.

Review 43:Excellent place to stay for those that appreciate family atmosphere. Great location in the middle of little Mistras town, a few steps to nearby tavernas and an excellent starting point to explore Mystras ancient town, Monemvasia (70 km), Gythio (40 km) or Kalamata (60 km).Safe, easy parking on quiet street, it is also possible to park on the premisses. Very, very kind hosts: make breakfast of what you prefer, very helpful. There are orange and mandarine trees in their little garden and they bring you fresh each time they see you! Best regards to Elena and Margarita, we want to come back!

Review 44:We were there in the month of october: 1. Bedroom: just a bulb, broken!, hanging from the ceiling. No bedside lamp. Double bed on one side against the wall: very uncomfy. Cracking. No wire-netting. 2. Bathroom: window without curtain. No hairdryer. 3. Kitchen: a very small table and ONE chair. Old plastic plates. 4. Living room: there isn't a living room: the whole space of the room is occupied by one single and one double bed. Just space for one very old armchair. 5. In general: no heating, no wire-netting, just bulbs hanging from the ceiling in all spaces. 6. No hot water for the kitchen and bathroom: terribly cold. And nevertheless they dare to ask and cash 40 euros per night. We cannot understand all previous more or less positive reviews. Never again!

Review 45:We received excellent personal service from everyone. We were driven to the upper Mystras entrance gate and the bus stop in Sparta without asking. The grandmother , although she did not speak English was very friendly and gave us free oranges and walnuts. The room was large, in addition there was free coffee, and a place to sit in the courtyard and a living room.

Review 46:Breakfast does not worth it unfortunately, because Elena is so kind.

Review 47:Very big room. Quiet place really near the town center. Terrace useful. Elena really kind.

Review 48:The high ceilings made it difficult to hunt down the mosquito that invaded my room.

Review 49:It was really a lovely place to stay, simple and quiet even though it's in the center of town. The room was spacious and very clean, and the folks who run the place were truly exceptional - I asked about where to get a taxi and was offered a ride instead. The breakfast was particularly good, including homemade jam and cake.

Review 50:WiFi signal was poor in our apartment

Review 51:Great location with easy access to Mystras ruins Comfortable apartment Excellent homemade European breakfast Nice hostess

Review 52:The room we booked didn't have a balcony but that was our fault!

Review 53:Location was metres from centre of town and tavernas. Off road parking. Hospitality of the family, we received a huge bunch of grapes on arrival.

Review 54:the accomodation was comfortable, clean and roomy, in the very center of the village. We appreciated particularly the politeness of our hosts, the breakfast unforgettable.

Review 55:The wifi connection wasn't stable, but then again we have had that nowhere in Greece sofar...

Review 56:Excellent hosts, good rooms, lovely garden and our room had a balcony with view of the mountains and the castle and the central marketplace closeby.

Review 57:This budget accommodation is a family run business in the stunning village of Mystra. The breakfast in the shaded courtyard included homemade produce. The location can not be faulted for proximity to eateries and the Mystra Castle, which is a must see.

Review 58:All good.

Review 59:Very friendly & obliging owners that were intent on making our stay a pleasure. The owners Kosta, Elena & Yiayia Hristina will always be remembered fondly.

Review 60:Very grumpy miserable lady in charge, quite rude.

Review 100:Lovely room and an extremely friendly and helpful family run this place. They provided excellent local guidance and advice.

Review 101:Nothing

Review 102:Very comfortable and friendly apartment right in the centre of the village of Mystras

Review 103:The hosts were charming and delightful, the room was spacious and accommodating, and the views were beautiful.

Review 104:À very good Family-hotel. The stuff were very kind. Frech orange-juice from the garden every morning. Affordable.

Review 105:Staying in this tiny hillside town was so fun. The owner spoke some English, his mom spoke almost none, but she was so eager to make us feel welcome. Squeezed us fresh orange juice from their back yard and clearly wanted us to feel at home. The decor is a bit quaint, but the room looks like a recently built addition with large windows and patio doors, shutters to block out light in the morning, great air conditioning. Clean and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay in this town, supper at the Mystras Inn was delicious, and finally found out what a plane tree is. There's a huge one in the town square that looks as though water is pouring out of the base of the trunk.
