Review 1：Make sure to follow the directions provided by the hotel as to how to get to the property! The alternative route (from Mistras) is a treacherous, dangerous, gravel/rock mountain road full of sharp switchbacks that could be a vacation-ruining experience. If the road you're on turns into a gravel or dirt road - turn back immediately! It will not get better!

Review 5：This isn't dislikes, just facts people should know. The drive up to the village from Sparta provides panoramic views but involves lots of switchbacks. It is an engineering miracle but definitely challenging to the driver, and takes about half an hour. There are many stairs to get to the inn, and then to your room. The village has wonderful springs and delicious water, but very little village life because the population is only 25. The local taverna has a magnificent situation, but the food is just OK. For the right person, the Archontiko is an ideal place as it was for us.
Review 6：This inn is a labor of love by two Greek people who have devoted themselves to restoring and running it for decades. They are hospitable beyond measure. The views from the upstairs rooms will make you gasp, and the comfortable antique furniture is beautiful but never pretentious. Mary is an excellent cook, and having dinner with her and Giorgio on the terrace is not to be missed. He is a true mountaineer and leads expeditions up to the heights nearby. If you love solitude, wilderness, and an authentic Greek village experience, this is a perfect choice.

Kindly note that in order to reach Archontiko you have to drive through a steep, uphill road of the mountain Taygetos for about 24 minutes.Kindly note that check-in starts at 2 pm.
