Reviews for Mystras Inn

Review 1:A little outside noise as its centrally located.

Review 2:Great location for Mystras ancient settlement, parking, Internet, big breakfast and family run business

Review 3:Location was fantastic, staff were very good. I needed to wash some clothes they did it for me free of charge. Next morning I was offered a lift up to the Mystras Castle foc. And when I left on the last day, the Local Bus didn't match up with the cross- country bus, so I was once again given a free lift (I did offer to pay).

Review 4:I was a bicycle traveller and felt genuine care by the hotelier-brothers. They did a lot to make me feel comfortable, and even the laundries were done. It was pure hospitality! The people seem to be very proud about their history and identity!

Review 5:The only negative was they did not have a blow dryer as advertised. However, even though there not a blow driver, we will return next year.

Review 6:The room was very nice, while a bit small, still very nice. Their restaurant served excellent food, and the staff could not have been nicer. Lamb chops were absolutely delicious, as was their egg breakfast.

Review 7:Wonderfully helpful staff who even offered a ride to the top entrance of the historic site. My room was unique, beautiful, and very comfortable. Wish more hotels could be like this one!

Review 8:You are out in the sticks. Don't expect fine wine. By the second of four days I found really good (Greek) coffee and yogurt with honey for breakfast. The mountain air gives you an appetite, so food taste better than it would, say, in nearby Sparta.

Review 9:You're in the mountains, so it's wonderful sleeping at night. Be sure you have enough blankets. Visiting the Byzantine religious structures uphill is great exercise, and the climate makes you want to do it.

Review 10:No bad experience at all

Review 11:Excellent location, both for the site at Mystras and the many local sites for flowers, which was the purpose of my visit. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 12:The very friendly and welcoming staff and the delicious breakfasts sitting in the sunshine in the little square with a view of the castle on top of Mt Taygetos.

Review 13:Comfort could improve a bit - better quality mattress and sofa.

Review 14:Location, appeal of the facility and room, view of the Mystra ruins, food at inn restaurant and hospitality of staff.

Review 15:The beds (Matresses and pillows) were terrible For that reason we wouldn't stay here- and almost moved elswhere Bathroom sink too small and difficult to use

Review 16:The room was large and bright (we had an upper level family room with windows on 2 sides),Room was nicely done, with warm wooden ceiling, and a balcony RIght on the square in Mystras Small kitchenette Restaurant was very good The main host was very nice

Review 17:The location, staff and service were all fantastic. The Inn was situated a short drive away from anceint Mystra, our room had a balcony overlooking the square and was very comfortable. The owners were very attentive and we enjoyed our evening meal in the garden area.

Review 18:Beautifully decorated & extremely large room with a couch overlooking the main road. Large patio with table and chairs. Owner suggested that we drive to the main gate of Mystras and then he would drive us to the fortress gate. This was wonderful since we then walked down through the site to our car.

Review 19:Very hard mattress

Review 20:Perfect and yet quiet location in the village centre, very friendly staff, restaurant beyond the hotel highly recommended, good breakfast

Review 21:Everything was fantastic! From the atmospheric stone walls to the well functioning air conditioning and free wi-fi. And, not to forget, simply the best yogurt I've ever tasted. Wonderfully friendly staff.

Review 22:What a gorgeous accommodating place. The stone walls are precious, as is the balcony. And Mystras is an important place to visit, leave plenty of time for this mountain town.

Review 23:Great stay. Located at the main square, easy to find and to reach the byzantine site. Surrounded by taverns, cafes and stores. Parking is at the back of the buinding, a charming stone house. The apartment is very cozy, with a porch over the square, well kept, comfortable, clear, spacious and clean, well equipped, with all the facilities working perfectly, including wifi. The managing is friendly and helpful. The price is quite low for European standards, considering all you get. I will definitely stay there again.

Review 24:Nothing not to like.

Review 25:They are all so friendly, great location in middle of village by the square. Comfortable and spotless room with balcony overlooking the village. The breakfasts were excellent.

Review 26:The Inn is ideally placed just down the road from the ancient site. The room was above the restaurant area but this was not a problem. The room is fairly basic but we had a good sleep and the breakfast was good. Much appreciated was the suggestion to drive to the top of the site and walk down and they would drive us back to our car. We did not need this as with the palace closed we did a top half trip and then drove to the bottom to do the bottom half.

Review 27:Charming hotel in a small village. The staff was very accommodating and let us check out later than normal when I fell ill. The rooms were quite cute, and the balcony looked over the village.

Review 28:For us, the mattress was very firm, though we slept pretty well.

Review 29:Yanny (?) made our stay enjoyable by his helpful suggestions, advice, and ability to speak English. Breakfast was excellent! The evening meal we ate there was ample and traditionally Greek. We loved the Greek salad! The shower was large & excellent. Parking on-site was available. I liked the shutters on the windows and how well they worked.

Review 30:The bathroom is a little bit outdated. The normal room is too small, with a small window to the backyard. Parking around is possible but difficult.

Review 31:Center of Mystras. Nice staff. The family room is huge, nice, comfortable with a nice view. The own restaurant is good.

Review 32:the bathroom, it was small and it didn´t smell very good

Review 33:The staff kindness, the breakfast and the size of the room, but we asked for a triple room when we were two.

Review 34:Can't think of anything at all!

Review 35:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Location on the village square was beautiful, quiet at night, lovely to watch the village (through shuttered windows) come to life in the morning. Wonderful breakfast, fresh fruit salad with yogurt

Review 36:My husband found the bed a bit hard. But overall, excellent facilities for the price.

Review 37:I'm a coeliac (can't eat wheat) and the host went out of his way to get in gluten-free biscuits for me. Bit even the standard breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:First room was tiny; no place for luggage or even a chair. Room change was large family room, but as with most small Greek hotels, the bed was very hard.

Review 39:When a problem with A/C developed, our room was changed.

Review 40:We had to leave, but will definitely be returning soon....

Review 41:Friendly staff, Great food at breakfast and dinner, Lovely location for walking and seeing the sights, rooms clean and comfortable, staff very thoughtful and nothing was to much trouble..

Review 42:Nothing comes to mind....

Review 43:The food served in their relatively small dining room was beyond great !! I would recommend their roast lamb, as it was superb as was the breakfast. All local, fresh, and home cooked. And the owner personally gave us a ride to the top of the Mystras site - saving us 2 hours, and a long walk up (just needed to walk down). We had a great experience at Mystras Inn.

Review 44:This is one of my favorites in Greece! Friendly, helpful people and a great restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere and view!!! I will be going back often! Thank you John and Thanassi!

Review 45:The room was nothing special. We were expecting something better. Also we could hear the next room very clearly.

Review 46:The location is very central in the village and they had a parking spot waiting for us. Breakfast was nice. The hosts were very nice.

Review 47:A cosy country inn with a warm welcome, good food and a comfortable bed set us up perfectly to tackle the steep and rocky paths of Mystra on a rainy winter's day next day.

Review 48:The Restaurant serves rather international dishes than greek. The Quality was did not convince us either.

Review 49:Nice building in Mystras village, spacious room - 1 double bed, 1 single and even with an additional single spacious enough - with a good view, kitchen and good shower. The attached Restaurant has a good athmosphere but the kitchen did not convince us. The best here was the free Transport Service of the owner, who took us to the top of the ancient Mystras town and we left our car on the lower parking spot. So we could easily walk from top down, and avoid steep walks up! Thanks for this.

Review 50:Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, balcony overlooking beautiful small town square, hotel and room were very clean and spacious room had lots of space for a family of 4. We found everything we needed and I would recommend this to everyone.

Review 51:Excellent location and very helpful staff. The restaurant located within the inn was a great place for dinner, and the breakfast was wonderful. The rooms were perfect, modern, and had all the amenities of a large hotel chain. Highly recommended.

Review 52:The Mystras Inn was our favorite place to stay during our 2 week trip to Italy and Greece. We spent 4 nights there, and ate all of our meals at their restaurant. Although breakfasts were not included in the room cost, they were very reasonable as well as delicious. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating in recommending the best way to see the Castle. They even escorted us to the next town to show us where to look for our genealogical information.

Review 53:Staff were attentive. Especially liked that they took us up to the top of the Mystras fortress so we could walk down. Fridge in the room is a nice touch. Dinner (under an awning to the side of the hotel) was very acceptable. Excellent breakfast. Clean and tidy. Nice welcome. Easy to park behind the hotel.

Review 54:Right in the center of Mystras, near the ancient site. I noted a special dietary request in my reservation and they went out of their way to be sure I ordered things that I could eat for dinner on the first evening and had special biscuits (crackers) made by a baker friend for my breakfast. Very thoughtful and a very pleasant surprise! They offered to help bring our bags up the stairs upon arrival and when we left. Room was a bit smaller than we expected for a triple.

Review 55:The location is great, near a historical Byzantine castle and a number of Churches, some that are still working. The Inn itself is designed in a very artistic manner. The rooms are cool because of it. They also have a restaurant at the Inn. The staff was extremely helpful. Also remember: THIS IS SPARTA!!!

Review 56:The position is just perfect for visiting the ancient site. My room was tiny and incredibly nice, romantic, well detailed! The staff is really really kindly, they help me a lot in the visit of the ancient site: thanks to them I was able to do it from the top to the bottom, without any preoccupation. The food and breakfast was really genuine and great. Strongly suggested!

Review 57:Simple room with everything needed in it. Quiet, good breakfast. Great plus: someone from the hotel drove me to the upper town of Mystra and I could leave my car in the lower parking lot to visit this beautiful site.

Review 58:It was all pretty great. No complaints here :)

Review 59:Really nice place, friendly staff, awesome village! I was going to visit the Castle and city ruins and they offered to drive me. Now THAT is hospitality! :)

Review 60:Great place to stay. Very clean, the owners treat you like family and you can't beat the price! The breakfast in the attached restaurant is great-be sure to try the yogurt and fruit! Thanks Ioannis- we will see you in 2 years!

Review 61:Friendly staff; hotel location was great.

Review 67:Kind host, central location in the small city center Nice room with stone walls in a renovated building.

Review 68:The friendliness of the owners, their eagerness to please and we really loved the breakfast served.

Review 69:Everything was fine.

Review 70:Polite staff, clean place and excellent breakfast.

Review 73:Nice clean hotel. Central location in Mistras, ideal for many of the tourist sites. Good parking.

Review 74:Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Good restaurant and good breakfast

Review 75:room a bit too small

Review 76:nice decor

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:Great location, very clean and comfortable. Value for money. Just what we were after as a first night base for trek on Taygetos mountains.

Review 79:It rained! Not the hotel's fault !!

Review 80:Wonderful site and village.

Review 81:Nothing bad to say.

Review 82:Yiannis was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 83:Nothing really. Might have been nice if price included breakfast.

Review 84:The room while a little quirky was clean roomy, had a nice balcony, no complaints.

Review 85:Large room. deck. great bfast. perfect location

Review 86:Handles of my room were hard to open

Review 87:Free transfer to the top of hill to decent for seeing the site! It's huge value for hot day.

Review 88:Mystras is a small village with an idyllic setting. Easy to walk to the medieval city and there are many mountain walks available.

Review 89:in the center, helpful staff, excellent breakfast, the room small but comfortable, amazing location

Review 90:The friendliness of the owners, the silence of the night and their restaurant

Review 91:shower

Review 92:staff, location

Review 93:feels very authentic, wooden/stone house, you get up like in middle ages.

Review 94:The family owned tavern below was expensive. Very much overpriced. Buy non perishable food before hand!

Review 95:It was close.

Review 96:The atmosphere, old time greek architecture, small town, great viw, great history, authentic food, great service. friendly! must see and stay!

Review 97:A very nice guest house in the lovely main square of the village. Excellent breakfast including fresh orange juice and a cooked option.

Review 98:The location is perfect to visit the ancient Mistras. The hotel manager offered a lift to see the castle.

Review 99:Charming friendly staff who were very helpful when I had to change my plans at the last minute, good restaurant, lovely big, well-fitted, attractive rooms.

Review 100:Nothing.

Review 101:Attractive settting in the centre of town. Clean modern building and rooms with attached taverna. Ideal for overnight stay when visiting archaeological site.

Review 102:Perfect for visiting Mystras. We had a front room, with a balcony overlooking the small town square (more of a triangle). Great for a relaxing drink - and the soundprooffing was good enough that we didn't hear a peep from outside during the night.

Review 103:Bathroom was small and no room to put anything. Bedding was sub optimal.

Review 104:Location was perfect. Breakfast outside on the patio was wonderful. The dining room was warm and cozy. We dined in front of the fireplace on what felt like Greek home cooking.Staff was very gracious..

Review 105:location; 15-20mins walk to lower gate of the Mystras Archaeological site. Several restaurants nearby including the inn itself. There's a nearby trail to Taygetos so if you feel like hiking its a good spot. The village itself is quite & peaceful. Bus stop (to/fro Sparta) right in front of the inn.

Review 106:the best stay of our long week holiday around Peoponneso ( we were in 7 different location ). The restaurant attached to the structure is very good...as well as the olive oil we bought and brought back to Italy. The area around is quite and deserves a stop.

Review 107:None

Review 108:It's a family-run restaurant and inn which gave us cozy stay. The room was clean and well managed. Not too big but hearty breakfast was very nice for us. And, I appreciate the owner and his brother for their wonderful guide to the town. Without their help, we couldn't enjoy much of Mystras.
