Reviews for Hotel Klastrom
Review 1:This hotel was formally a monastery. We like the ambience. The double room is comfortable with pleasant furnishing. The bathroom may be a bit small for some people but the hot water works very well. Breakfast is good and sufficient.
Review 2:Historic, interesting building that has been sensitively and professionally converted into its current use. Comfortable rooms with good, modern bathrooms. Nice breakfast.
Review 3:The included breakfast could have been better but it wasn't bad.
Review 4:I loved the location and that there was parking available for only 4 euros right on the street. The room was spacious and comfortable as well. Awesome value!
Review 5:A very lovely place. An old renovated monastery, beautiful grounds, very clean, comfortable room, everything is great except the wifi connection. But maybe one doesn't need one in a place like that. Highly recommended.
Review 6:The wifi was terrible. Barely usable even in the lobby.
Review 7:Friendly and helpful staff. Let me change rooms when the WiFi didn't work well enough in the first one.
Review 8:Smallest bathroom I have ever encountered, fairly basic breakfast fare. Could only pick up wifi on my laptop, neither phone or Ipad could.
Review 9:Good sized room, friendly and helpful reception team. Perfect central location at the edge of the pedestrianised old town so handy for local restaurants etc.
Review 10:I had a room with a river view, but the river was hard to see because of trees! (Not a very big problem, though)
Review 11:The old building and the court. And the friendly staff
Review 12:Nothing specifically bad but a note. If you are informed in anyway this will be difficult as there is no rooms on the bottom floor and you have to carry your own luggage up to the other floors. Not an issue for us but could be for some people as there are three floors above the ground floor. Internet too weak on the top floor but worked everywhere else.
Review 13:I liked each erything about the place. Great location, great value, meals included. Gyor is a great town and so is the hotel klastrom. I would absolutely stay there again.
Review 14:Wireless not working / poor signal all over the hotel, the man at the reception couldn't to anything about it. Incredibly small TV (~30 cm) for a large hotel room. Average breakfast
Review 15:The hotel has a good location for a quick city stop. We booked a room for three people which was didn't have a very classic air to it, but was ok in terms of cleanliness and spaciousness.
Review 16:The breakfast buffet has a low quality, coffee tasted funny and the orange juice qwas some chemical colored sweet water.
Review 17:Uniqur architecture and atmosphere. Perfect position. Kind staff
Review 18:I asked for a room for 3 people (2 adults and 1 child). The confirmation was for a room with 1 double and one single bed but we got a room with 3 single beds. It wasn't a big problem, but we asked for something else.
Review 19:Location, nice and friendly staff, nice old and beutifully renovated building with history, very nice big courtyard where you can seat and enjoy your coffee.
Review 20:WiFi caused problems, terribly hot inside the room # 210 despite the fan inside
Review 21:location, the history of the hotel (JP II was there in 1996), the building itself, the fan in the room (it was not enough though), discount at the nearby restaurant (15%), the Old Town around
Review 22:Room facing the river was noisy at night. We changed room without a problem.
Review 23:A wonderful location.Friendly and helpful staff. Interesting and tasteful decor in a tranquil interior setting. Superb breakfast in the Cloister garden.
Review 24:Only real negative was lack of air conditioning which is probably because they can't change or modernise too much. Completely understandable, but it was nearly 38 degrees when we were there, so a fan didn't quite do the trick!
Review 25:Lovely building, full of character. Great buffet breakfast out in the shady court yard. Friendly, helpful staff. Decent sized bedrooms, even though it was on the main road Nd with window open, was not loud or noisy. Wifi worked well and parked right in front of the hotel for 4 euros a day. Definitely recommend as long as you don't need air-con!
Review 26:the building is great, as well as the rooms - comfortable and very clean. We asked baby cot and it was with provided baby linens, very sweet :) Breakfast and dinner were very good as well. Beautiful facility
Review 27:I stayed at the front street side, and it was a bit noisy sometimes, also on the corridor, as people were talking quite loud. And there is no elevator (but they help with luggage if needed).
Review 28:They immediately brought a glutenfree breakfast on my demand. And you can eat it in the patio. They help with luggage carrying. beautiful old towncentre of which it is a part.
Review 29:Our room faced a busy street, so ear plugs were necessary to fall asleep.
Review 30:Hotel Klastrom is located in the very centre of Gyor. No need for a car, also the train station is 5 min walk away. The standard room we had was small, but cosy and very clean. A big plus: the room didn't get too hot, although it was just the middle of the "heat wave" in Hungary. The walls are thick, and the hotel provided a room fan. The receptionist was professional and friendly. The breakfast was wonderful, rich, and extremely tasty.
Review 31:We came late and they and no place for parking. We had to leave car on public parking which is paid form 8 in the morning. So we had to wake up to either pay or re-park.
Review 32:The place is wonderful historic building
Review 33:Lack of cold drink on arrival: we had cycled 70 miles in heat. Most other hotels we had stayed in had a jug of iced water on reception.
Review 34:The building: it used to be a monastery
Review 35:the smell of "old"; lack of A/C (verry, verry hot inside the rooms; lack of window protection against insects (w/o the A/C you need to open the window, but then the room is full of mosquitos)
Review 36:the location; the inner garden; the breakfast; the building
Review 37:Corridors echo with slightest noise - not good if your room is near the stairs. Shame the courtyard wasn't used apart from breakfast (the bar used to open in the evening) - it's a shame because it's a lovely feature
Review 38:Lovely old building
Review 39:The shower is a bit of a joke, and I personally hate those horrible German styles toilets.
Review 40:Located just off the town centre, but nice and quiet. Lovely large room with comfy sofa. Only 10 minutes walk to the railway station.
Review 41:The breakfast was of very poor quality, especially the greyish, dry scrambled eggs and the pale boiled eggs. The vegetables could also hardly be called fresh. If they hadn't had the fresh bakery stuff, we would have remained hungry... The Wi-Fi practically didn't work.
Review 42:The location, the atmosphere of this almost 300 year-old monastery and the nice and helpful staff made a really good impression
Review 43:Small bathroom in relation to size of room.
Review 44:We had a large room with sitting area overlooking the courtyard with it's well and grand horse chestnut tree. Simple but tasteful furnishings to suit a former monastery. Ringing of nearby bells added to the atmosphere.
Review 45:We really enjoyed the stay. The hotel's quite big, still cosy, you can feel the spirit of old times. What's more, on arrival to our surprise we got a suite for the price of a standard double room we had booked :)
Review 46:Room did not match the picture with a much smaller bathroom and different bed arrangement. The room had one very small window, with view of the yard and the room felt quite small for three persons. Our bathroom door didn't lock and the TV in the room (though we almost never use) is more like a tablet screen.
Review 47:The hotel is very impressive looking with the old building being preserved quite well. The stuff was welcoming and helpful and it's located in the best area possible.
Review 48:Hotel is comfortable but not for guests who want to be pampered
Review 49:Location in Györ is ideal, staff were very helpful, room was classic and comfortable without unnecessary frills, you can really tell that's it's not part of a chain
Review 50:This hotel was lovely. The staff very helpful. We especially enjoyed the evening gentleman in charge that poured us a drink at the bar and chatted. Very nice!
Review 51:We were not happy with the breakfast , the food served was ... " like after Christmas ".
Review 52:The hotel is very close to the old town. The rooms are very clean, bed linen and bath towels too.
Review 53:Great location of the hotel - walking distance to the centre and spa. What we found nice too was the church bell waking us up at 7am for early breakfast :) Breakfasts were rich and tasty. Dinners served in a restaurant close by - very good and huge portions! We much appreciated free wifi in the hotel.
Review 54:I was extremely fortunate to be given a suite with a very modern show alcove. I was very happy to be in the hotel and was able to entertain friends there too. It was useful to be given a discount card for the local John Bull Pub for a meal.
Review 55:Very close to the spa and the city centre. Breakfast was ok, could be a bit improved though (coffee quality for instance). We had half board, with a voucher we got from the reception we went for dinner to the John Bull Pub, 5 mins walk from the hotel - excellent cuisine (four 3-course menus to choose from). Friendly and polite staff. Impressive building - former monastery. Great wi-fi connection free of charge (transmitters everywhere in the hotel).
Review 56:- No restaurant in the hotel, but there are many nearby - Very limited parking lot (an affordable parkhaus [Jokai] 'after the corner'
Review 57:+ Location + Breakfast
Review 58:Breakfast missing sparkle and a little to low quality.
Review 59:Fair priced quiet, simple no fillifance, adequately comfortable short term hotel, with a nice lowprofile historic flair.
Review 60:Light bulb in bathroom was out. No elevator. Need to borrow hairdryer from front desk.
Review 61:Good location. Converted from a monastery, so kind of interesting to stay there. Large room. Plentiful breakfast. Helpful staff.
Review 62:Breakfasts were a bit industrial, I think they must open their doors to travel groups (not just the hotel residents)
Review 63:The owner made us feel very welcome, and she let us look round the old library, and recommended good places to eat in town. The rooms with their domed ceilings are superb and atmospheric.
Review 64:Very good breakfast and very nice staff. The hotel located in historic building which used to be a monastery . It just beside the river and at the entrance of the old town area.
Review 65:The double in our room was pretty narrow. Hot water in the bathroom took some time to arrive.
Review 66:Nice and athmospheric building. Clean rooms. Ample breakfast.
Review 67:I have booked in Eur (but booking showed also the price on HUF) and when we paid, neither is EUR nor in HUF was the same as the price shown in Booking.
Review 68:Location, decoration, bulding (klaustrom), cosyness
Review 69:Quality of the beds not good enough. Two half sheets covering one double bed..... hmmm. Guests should be aware of church nearby. Bell ring at 7 am. Cannot be ignored!
Review 70:Good location and atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent
Review 71:Nothing. Some people may find the ringing of the bells annoying as it is early in the morning but I liked it - at least you don´t need to set alarm.
Review 72:The hotel has an excellent location right in the city centre and close to the spa. The breakfast was tasty and ot tastes even better when sitting in the peaceful green courtyard. The staff was perfect and spoke both English and German fluently.
Review 73:Our room was a bit small but that is because of the building origins,
Review 74:The building has been converted very sympathetically and is obviously cared for with pride. The location is perfect, the staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent.
Review 75:Horrific bed (room 123) made incredible noise on the slightest turn. Bathroom noises from neighbouring rooms too.
Review 76:Great characterful building and rooms.
Review 77:Very hard mattresses. auto wake up bells at 7am, not great for guests at leisure. Rooms by front road get very loud, albeit occasional traffic noise, was very disturbing for sleep. Although parking requested, is operated first come first served, so no guarantee there will be a space.
Review 78:Great character in property, quirky rooms, such as big split level (#1).
Review 79:nothing.
Review 80:Excellent reception staff, very helpful. This renovated monastery is lovely, the rooms being the old monks quarters and beautifully renovated. Interesting building. highly recommended.
Review 81:Elegant, simple rooms, though not too big. Excellent location in the center of town. Huge, delicious breakfast spread. Room overlooked a lovely courtyard where you could eat breakfast.
Review 82:Wifi was occasionally spotty.
Review 83:The location is perfect - right in the heart of the old town. The building itself is beautiful. The thick walls give a real sense of peace.
Review 84:The information about the rooms on booking.com is incorrect and misleading. We chose to pay extra for a room on first floor with a river view. The info stated that the rooms are 25 m2 each and most face river. This is not true. The hotel has three wings and only one faces the river. The rooms of the other two wings face inner courtyard. Our room was about 16 m2 and not 25 m2 as advertised. It appears that all river facing rooms and all rooms of the back wing are of similar size of 16 m2. Therefore only the rooms of a side wing could be of a bigger size. Then most of the rooms are 16 m2. There is no lift and lot of stairs. The rooms' outfit is very basic. With no air con it could be uncomfortably hot inside the room. When we arrived my wife needed to urgently go to the toilet. We were informed that there were no toilets except in the rooms. This later showed to be untrue and only a rude attitude of the staff.
Review 85:A nice adaptation of an old convent building in good location.
Review 86:the whole Hotel has honest Atmosphere when not a little too down to earth, with the most emphasis on the Breakfast.

Review 105:No air conditioner, so it could be hot in the summer.
