Reviews for Mazaraki Guesthouse

Review 1:Perfect location, nice view, rooms are clear and comfortable. Staff is very hospitable. Breakfast is fresh and tasty. Dimetra - thanks a lot. Do recommend.

Review 2:The Junior Suite was very comfortable, well appointed and on a hill over-looking Mystras and Sparti. Your selection of breakfast dishes is delivered to your room at your choice of times; eating lovely food on your own balcony was a high light of our trip. Mazaraki is just a 2 minute drive from the upper gate to the archaeological site.

Review 3:Cost is on the high-end for a B&B in the area. Breakfast is served in the room, however portions are not very impressive.

Review 4:Nice location in the nature with a great view overlooking Sparti. Room was clean, comfortable and warm (we travelled in autumn).

Review 5:Great as allways (our 3rd visit). A perfect example of how a top boutique hotel in a surrounding of unique beauty has to look like. Exemplary service, Dimitra is an amazing lady, beautiful large rooms with exceptional interior design down to the smallest detail, comfortable beds and increadible breakfast served on the room's terasse with their stanning views. Perfect location to visit Mystras, the famous Chromata restaurant and to access impressive trecking tracks in the viscinity.

Review 6:Good location and fabulous view to overlook city of Sparti, very close to site of Mystras. Very cozy room n spacious for longer stay, making us feel like home!

Review 7:Beautiful surroundings, beautiful rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Ruins of Mistras nearby.

Review 8:Second bedroom in apartment was very small. Sofa bed was reasonably comfortable.

Review 9:Wonderful kitchen, great choice at breakfast- delivered to apartment at chosen time. Great location to see Mystras and two restaurants in walking distance (the one we tried was excellent). Nice pool.

Review 10:waiting for the room and being offered a cup of coffee and then having to pay for it

Review 11:the extras left to taste and care of the people plus local knowledge

Review 12:wish we could have stayed longer...

Review 13:Relaxing, beautiful view, amazing breakfast with so much choice brought to our room, delicious diner at a restaurant a bit higher up. Amazing value for money and very romantic.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Fully equipped and stylish studio room, lovely breakfast brought to our room, walking distance to Mystras, nice swimming pool to cool down in.

Review 16:Would like more choices of bread at breakfast Cake and delicious pie left over from breakfast for later were taken away...

Review 17:Nicely decorated room Lovely views Great coffee place on site

Review 18:The only slightly negative surprise was the very small size of the pool. But I understand this is because of the location is close to a UNESCO world Heritage site and constructions And pools are restricted! This doesn't change an overall wonderful experience

Review 19:Absolutely wonderful location great rooms and an extremely helpful and kind staff. The breakfasts are great. Overall a wonderful experience

Review 20:The apartment is beautiful. We stayed with two kids and they slept in the adjacent apartment. Super! Breakfast was delicious with local touch. Don't forget to ask for the apetizer dish, it's delicious. And the service was great. Very nice people!

Review 21:The accommodation at the Mazaraki Guesthouse is perfect. The apartments are extremely stylish and comfortable. The breakfasts are very fresh with a great range of food. The beds are also very comfortable. The wifi is a little patchy but it is to be expected given it is in a hilly area of rural Greece. I would highly recommend the Mazaraki Guesthouses to anyone wanting very comfortable, lovely surroundings and friendly and helpful people.

Review 22:We had a lovely , well equipped room with a small balcony and views towards Sparta. It was run by very some charming, helpful people. The breakfasts, delivered to our room , were delicious. It was very convenient to visit Mystras and Sparta and within walking distance of an excellent restaurant.

Review 23:A beautifully appointed room with chic decorative finishes and sbsolutely stunning views over the plain to the mountains. Welcoming and friendly staff and hearty breakfast with local produce.

Review 24:We upgraded to a premium suite which was well worth it. The Wheat Suite was very well appointed and private. Breakfast was very nice and the ingredients local. The owner and all the staff were very helpful and warm towards us.

Review 25:site is overdeveloped therefore privacy is an issue. outdoor seating is basic and uncomfortable. cooking facilities are basic but adequate if only for tea/coffee and cold lunch.

Review 26:clean and newly built

Review 27:Just a couple of things - beware the stone bed base or you will spend your holiday with bruised shins. The water gets incredibly hot - treat it with caution.

Review 28:We loved just about everything about this place. We only had a room, but in retrospect should have booked one of the studios and stayed longer.

Review 29:Having to leave...

Review 30:The staff at this delightful, upscale, boutique mountain lodge charmed us with their professional yet friendly and accommodating attitude. Dimitra was always gracious and helpful, spoke perfect English and made fabulous dinner recommendations. In fact, the restaurant just up the hill behind the property, deserves a Michelin star for the food quality and inventiveness.

Review 31:Nothing in particular

Review 32:The bungalow was spacious and charmingly decorated. The staff was really helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and brought to our bungalow at the requested time.

Review 33:No business tv channel.

Review 34:Beautiful views from Mazaraki over wide Sparti valley. The room was clean, functional and very comfortable. Breakfast brought in a basket and enjoyed on balcony.

Review 35:Can't think of anything this place is perfect in everyway

Review 36:My second visit and the Mazaraki was as wonderful as ever. Setting is/stunning. The accommodation individual we stayed in Branch apartment, huge, with a log fire, to keep out any autumn cold. Sky double room with a view of sunsets over sparta. The owners are more like family nothing too much trouble, breakfast huge local produce. We plan to return again

Review 37:This place (and staff) was so welcoming and attractive you don't want to leave. It has wonderful views and is also ideal if you want visit the Mystra historical site. My only quibble is that it seems to only have double beds and we wanted twin beds so had to use a sofa bed but not really a problem - still comfortable and breakfast is brought to you in your room in the morning.

Review 38:This is a lovely calm place to stay near to Mystra, I won't hesitate to recommend it. We went in mid-October when the weather was around 28°C during the day and the sun rising over Sparta in the morning was magnificent. The ladies running the guesthouse are very kind and professional and breakfast from our basket on the balcony was one of the best ways to start the day

Review 39:Beautiful, comfortable and stylish rooms in a breathtakingly pretty setting. Delightful staff. Supremely convenient for visiting Mystras, but a delight in its own right.

Review 40:We stayed just one night while visiting Mystras and really liked this little property. The rooms was adorable with a nice terrace. Staff was really friendly and we enjoyed having the breakfast brought to us in a picnic basket. We had one of the smaller rooms but it was so reasonably priced that there are no complaints.

Review 41:Best suited to those with cars as apart from a couple of local restaurants/ tavernas, the main village and the historic Byzantine sites are a 10 minute drive away - maybe 30-40 mins on foot. Not really a dislike, but be aware that the region is very hilly with steep climbs up roads and paths.

Review 42:Excellent location on a hillside, 10 minutes walk from an excellent restaurant (Chronos). Great views. All rooms are themed suites in detached 2-storey buildings. Most can accommodate 4 people (2 in double bed + 2 in double sofa bed). Each has basic kitchen facilities and a balcony. Parking no problem. Wide selection of foodstuffs brought to room for breakfast. No restaurant as such.

Review 43:The place is a bit far away from the town centre where all the bars & restaurants are.

Review 44:Clean room, excellent view, friendly staff, close to Mistras the archeological site

Review 45:Mazaraki Guesthouse is situated near Mystras and has an amazing view of the valley, including the city of Sparta. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. This was one of the best places we stayed on our three-week road trip through Greece.

Review 46:Absolutely amazing place! Our apartment in one of the guest houses was lovely and every detail clearly thought out. The buildings fit into the mountain setting perfectly as well. Views are magnificent and breakfast was great with fresh eggs, bread, yogurt and more. Staff gals were super, always helpful, friendly and wanting us to feel at home. Can't say enough good things about Mazaraki!

Review 47:Amazing location and views from the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great recommendation for where to eat in the evening. Breakfast is excellent and delivered to your room.

Review 48:First, I would like to say that the staff here is outstanding. The moment we arrived, they made us feel right at home and were welcoming and warm. This lovely hotel is situated in the mountains with an amazing view of Sparta. The rooms are clean and comfortable and tasteful. Everything about this hotel is thoughtful and quality. The breakfast was amazing. We sat outside on the front veranda and looked down on Sparta over delicious breads, cakes, coffee, cheese and fruit. It was a very happy stay and I would love to come back here.

Review 49:The WiFi was poor. The local directions were difficult to follow because of a language breakdown. However, we suggested to the owner that it would be helpful to produce a small map of the immediate area, she said she would do this and welcomed our feedback.

Review 50:Spacious accommodation overlooking the mountains and Mystras a beautiful medieval town. Breakfast brought to us in basket with organic food from the owners farm. The staff were friendly and gave us food treats of local specialities to taste. There was a fantastic restaurant 250 meters away. We would definitely return.

Review 51:Beautiful location, beautiful room and pool. Loved the nearby restaurants (both the one owned by the hotel with stunning terrace and the family owned taverna next door)

Review 52:The otherwise wonderful balcony was in full sun, with no possibility to provide shade; unfortunately therefore we couldn't use it to have breakfast or relax outside in the morning.

Review 53:Wonderfully placed, near Mystras, but away from the crowd, with lovely views towards Mystras and Sparta. The suites are comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The breakfast is good and tasteful, brought to order to the suite.

Review 54:Everything was done with care, attention and imagination. The rooms are very pretty, with balconies and great views, breakfast delivered to the room and staff were cheerful and extremely helpful. A very tranquil spot for relaxing and enjoying life in this beautiful country.

Review 55:My only grumble is that wi-fi was very temperamental from the room, but was fine in reception. (probably a good thing it didn't work in the room really so you can concentrate on the view!)

Review 56:Pretty much everything about this place I liked. The guesthouses themselves have been done to a very high quality and the decor completed in very good taste. The buildings seem to have been recently built to old styles, and it is clear a lot of thought and love has gone into them. The views of the valley/sparta below (especially early in the morning) need to be experienced in person. Next door there is a chirch that is still in use and you can quietly observe the local community going about their business. The staff were helpful & friendly and every morning they bring up a hamper of breakfast items you have chosen from a menu the day before. There is a restaurant up the hill (even better views!) that serves great greek food, and a quality bistro just up the road. We thought that a 3 night stay was just about right. It's a short taxi ride to the Mystras byzantine ruins and/or 'new town' and Sparta a bit longer. There is also an "eco" swimming pool for a lazy day in the sun (it gets hot up there in peak summer - 35 degrees+ in the shade). All in all it felt like we discovered a gem and would recommend it to anyone.

Review 57:Everything. This place is a dream come true. A wonderful experience thanks to its dynamic and friendly team (thank you Dimitra in particular). What is there not to love? We had the luxury suite with a nice furnished balcony overlooking the mountain, a Jacuzzi bathtub, homemade delicious breakfast served in the room (fresh fruit, orange juice, cake, jam, yogurt, honey, eggs, meat cheese). The location; two minutes drive from Mistras top entrance and 5 min from the bottom entrance. Restaurants close by. Quiet place to relax and let yourself be pampered. The room was so pretty we took a few pictures of it.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Everything! We have no word to describe this place. Everything is perfect: the rooms, the garden, the pool. You'd really miss something if you visited Mistras and went somewhere else!

Review 60:Nothing really . Quite tricky to find , windy mountain road but not too bad by Peleponese standards.

Review 61:Beautiful room, fantastic views from room, terrace, pool and local restaurant . Helpful staff. Great location for Mystras. Stayed 2 nights wish it was more.

Review 62:Lovely setting with great views and a small pool for cooling off in. Room had two terraces with sun and shade. Very friendly staff provide nice extra touches - e.g. tray of aperitifs left for our return from sightseeing. Restaurant above the guesthouse has lovely reasonably priced food and fantastic views

Review 63:The location is perfect and Mrs. Mazaraki is very kind and helpful. The apartments are very clean and perfectly decorated with a pleasant contemporary design. We returned for a second night during our vacation because favourably impressed. A special mention to the wonderful manager Dimitra for her professionality.

Review 64:Everything. Starting from the beautiful wiews. Actually the distance from urban areas is a possitive point and the hotel is definitly worth the little effort. You have lovely suites, personalized breakfast, a precious swimming pool and a very nice restaurant above the hotel. We will be back!

Review 101:Great breakfast spread with many homemade cakes and pies by the staff. Clean and comfortable rooms with excellent service from staff. Thank you Dimitra and Natasha for the wonderful stay.

Review 102:Just the wi-fi -- go to the lobby for good reception -- and the chichi bathroom, while stylish, had no means to keep shower water from going everywhere.

Review 103:Almost everything. The buildings ànd grounds were well situated and well marked, just up from Mystras. The room was lovely with not one but two balconies and a spectacular view. Breakfast was large and delicious with fresh local food. French press coffee a big plus. Loved our too-short stay.

Review 104:The breakfasts delivered to our room in a basket where a treat; the views from the rooms and outside places to sit were wonderful. Very peaceful setting and very helpful staff.

Review 105:Everything was great : the apartment with a fireplace, the location, the view, the quietness, the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast on the balcony, with local products, was delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much.
